After everyone's first club meeting let out, Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all met up outside on the Yellow Quartet's bench.
"How did you like Broom Club, Harry?" inquired Amy.
"Going into it I felt very nervous about meeting the other kids in the club and very awkward at doing anything with other people but without you three. Ultimately, my first session of Broom Club went exceedingly well. I still feel a little guilty or at least awkward about being part of a club that doesn't involve you three, but I can tell already that I'm going to enjoy Broom Club for myself. There are six members of Broom Club, each of them in a different year. Best of all, Sirius is the Club Leader!"
"Awesome!" cooed Amy, Susan, and Hannah.
"I think your awkwardness will wear off before too long," said Amy reassuringly, "I think that's just the adjustment phase. It's a good sign that you're already enjoying the Boom Club."
"We just did a meet and greet today, " explained Harry, "But, the thing is, it's just such a nice feeling knowing I'll be able to learn about the different flying brooms and the history thereof with people who share my interest in broomsticks."
"That's exactly why Heather wanted each of us to join a different club," said Amy seriously, "Neither Susan nor Hannah nor I are much interested in broomsticks even though we all enjoy flying. But you are. Having some shared experiences with people who aren't your besties but who share your interests is an extremely healthy thing."
"In spite of my misgivings, I'm starting to see where Heather was coming from," admitted Harry, "OOOHHHH!"
"What have you just remembered Harry?" asked Hannah curiously.
"I've just remembered that when Sirius learned of Heather's plan to have each of the four of us join a different school club, Sirius readily admitted regretting never forming any friendships at Hogwarts outside of his besties."
"That's actually pretty telling," piped up Susan, "It means that Sirius feels like he let some opportunities pass him by and sees Heather as making sure the four of us don't make that same mistake."
"Mon was really looking after our best interests in every way possible here," beamed Hannah proudly.
"She certainly was, " agreed Harry.
"How did you like Potions Club then?" cued Susan to Amy.
"Like Harry's club, my club just did a meet and greet today, " replied Amy matter of factly, "Professor Ivanoff is the leader of Potions Club. We didn't make any potions today, but Professor Ivanoff had us tell each other about our favorite Potions. There are four members of Potions club, two second years and two seventh years. The other second year is Ernie Macmillan, who is a bit full of himself but likeable once you get to know him. I'm telling you about him specifically because we are going to share classes with him as second years."
"He went to Hogwarts last year,'" remembered Harry, "And was sorted into Slytherin. "
"He's definitely ambitious, " confirmed Amy bluntly, "He boasted that he's going to be a Potions Maker for St. Mungo's when he grows up."
"Are you happy with the Potions Club for yourself then?" Harry asked Amy.
"Oh yes," answered Amy immediately, "Making Potions is just a great outlet for me. But what about Susan?"
"Sand Club has eight members, one first year, three second years, one fourth year, two sixth years, and one seventh year," piped up Susan, "Luna Lovegood is in the club and the other two second years are Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas. Seamus's mom is our leader. I remember Seamus and Dean being in Gryffindor at Hogwarts. They are besties. Let's just say Sand Club had more than a meet and greet today."
"What did Sand Club do today?" inquired Harry eagerly.
"I was the last to arrive for Sand Club, " remembered Susan fondly, "When I arrived, I got sanded by everybody else."
Harry, Amy, and Hannah all smirked.
"Seamus's mom, whose name is Sarah, set up sand mines for us which had our names hidden in them in various ways. We walked through the sand as a group and as each member had his or her sand mine go off, he or she told the rest of the group about himself or herself."
"Wow," exclaimed Harry, "That sounds fun!"
"It was bloody brilliant!" declared Susan, "When we hit my sand mine, a stream of water shot out and sprayed the name Susan Bones into the sand.
"Beautiful," cooed Hannah, "Not to mention fitting."
"Yeah, " grinned Susan, "Everyone's sand mine was personalized in a way that was appropriate for him or her. You know I love water."
"You love anything you can do outside, " added Hannah accurately.
"I'm sure you adored being in Water Club," Susan told Hannah happily.
"Hell yes," said Hannah glowingly, "There are five members of Water Club, three first years and two second years. It's the youngest club at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery. The other second year is Justin Finch Fletchley, who was in Gryffindor at Hogwarts. Interestingly, Justin told us that if it wasn't for mom's requirement that all students at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery, he would not have joined any clubs, not because he was adverse to the idea, but because he has no specific interests. He's one of those people that enjoys lots of things but doesn't really care about anything. "
"He's exactly the kind of person who benefits from the club mandate," recognized Susan.
"That's what I told Justin myself, " smirked Hannah, "Water Club mainly did a meet and greet, but our leader, Wanda Wet, did allow us to go for a swim after putting waterproofing spells on our clothes."
"A nice simple way to start out," smiled Amy.
"Being able to share my love of water with others who love water is wonderful, " said Hannah cheerfully.
"Raise your hand if you now believe Heather made the right decision in having the four of us join separate clubs apart from each other, " requested Amy.
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all put their hands into the air.
They knew now that Heather had clearly been right.
