…..3 days before the party

Luz and Amity awoke to the smell of eggs and bacon. Camila had made them breakfast and after eating they went to work on 1st making the gingerbread men. The two put on their matching aprons as luz prepared the ingredients. "Alright let's check that we have all the ingredients.3 and 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour,check. 1 teaspoon baking soda ,check. 1/2 teaspoon salt, check. 1 Tablespoon ground ginger, check.1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon, check.1/2 teaspoon ground allspice,check. 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves,check.

10 Tablespoons of unsalted butter, check . 3/4 cup light or dark brown sugar ,check.

2/3 cup dark molasses,check.1 large egg, check and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, check. Luz said as she put down the cookbook she was reading."Okay Luz what do we do 1st?" Amity said as she pulled out the necessary tools for cooking " okay step one says In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. Set aside." Luz said as Amity combined the ingredients and began whisking. " I'm curious, what's your grandmother like?" she asked." Why do you want to

know?" Luz said as she combined butter, sugar and molasses in another bowl and mixed it together with an egg. "Well I want to make a good impression. Maybe if I warm up to her she can accept us." Amity said as the two combined the wet and dry ingredients and began whisking till it formed a dough. "Amity I've told you. My grandma is set in her ways. If i could tell her I'm Bi i would have done it ages ago. Heck it would save me so much time in photoshop." Luz said as they split the dough in half and put it away

to chill. "Okay now leave that to chill for a few hours then we shape it and bake it." Luz said. " Hey Luz you got something on your nose." "What?" Luz said as Amity flung a bit of dough from her whisk onto Luz's nose , chuckling a bit."Ha Ha very funny now take this." Luz responded as she threw some dough back at her laughing in response. "Well I guess we are even. Now before this escalates, why don't we clean up before Camila whips out la chancla." Amity said as the two lovers cleaned up their mess….

A few hours later…

After the cookie dough had chilled the two prepared a baking sheet and a shaping surface as they carefully rolled out and cut out a dozen gingerbread men before putting them into the oven for 10 minutes. "Okay cookies are just about done, what's next?" Amity said as she turned around to see Luz pulling out the large bottle of Don Q rum. " Coquito time!" Luz shouted as she also grabbed cans of cream of coconut, dairy-free sweetened condensed milk and coconut milk, oat milk ,a bottle of cinnamon powder,

nutmeg powder, cinnamon sticks and some vanilla extract. "Okay Amity you grab the blender and the bowls and chill the bottle." Luz said as Amity went into the cabinets and pulled out a bowl for mixing and the blender. "Okay this is pretty simple, just dump everything into the blender except the rum ,cinnamon sticks and oat milk." Luz said as the two opened the cans and poured their contents into the blender. After adding the cinnamon nutmeg and vanilla extract Luz turned the blender on until the ingredients mixed

into a fine two then poured the contents into the bowl adding a choice amount of oat milk. "Okay that's done now how do we measure out the rum?" Amity said as she opened the bottle. "Oh my naive sweet potato you don't measure. You just pour till you think it's good." Luz said, guiding Amity to pour the rum into the bowl causing the young witch to blush. "Alright, that should just about do it." Luz said taking out two glasses she had chilled in the freezer next to the large bottle. Pouring coquito into the two

cups she handed one to Amity. "Salud". The two shouted as they each took a sip of their coquito. Amity tasted the sweetness of the milk and coconut before the alcohol of the rum hit her causing her to cough slightly. "Wow this is really good." Amity said as she noticed Luz had gotten a milk mustache. "Yeah it is. Though this is the first time I've had it with rum. Mom always gave me a non- alcoholic version as a kid." Luz said, wiping her face. It was at this moment the timer went off. The gingerbread cookies were

done. After a few minutes of cooling it was time to decorate. Luz and Amity decorated with frosting and candy buttons.. The two then shared a cookie. Amity's eyes lit up as if she had never tasted a cookie so sweet." Looks like a certain witch is having a flavor overload." Luz said, poking her cotton candy haired goddess. "Well what now?" Amity said as they put away the cookie and coquito. "Well how about some popcorn and a christmas movie." Luz said as she went to the cabinet of old family dvd's."Ok I'd love to."

Amity said as Luz looked carefully at her collection of Christmas movies. There was the Rankin-Bass Christmas collection nope that was something she wanted to watch with all of her friends. " Elf, no she wasn't feeling that. She wanted something that was weird and not traditional then she saw it. "Ah, here is the perfect movie." Luz said as she

pulled out a dark case. It had a picture of a man and an exploding building and written in red letters DIE HARD. "Luz that doesn't sound like a christmas movie" Amity said as Luz went to the tv in the living room."Oh trust me it's an amazing christmas movie. It's about a New York city cop guy going to LA to patch up his marriage for the sake of Christmas when terrorists attack the building where his wife's christmas party is and now he has to save the day." Luz said as she booted up the old dvd player. "Okay ill watch it but it doesn't sound like a christmas movie to me. '' Amity said as she went to make some popcorn….

2 Hours Later…

"Well It takes place during christmas, never stops shoving christmas in your face and the director says its a christmas

movie so it's a Christmas movie. " Luz said as she looked at the time. "Well we better turn in Abuelas plane arrives at noon." Luz said. Amity watching the film wrap up with John and Holly making out and driving off in happiness got an idea "Well since this is the last night before your grandma shows up, how about we have some late night shenanigans." Amity said, whispering into Luz's ear causing a strong blush. "I am game." Luz said as the 2 ran up to the room for some late night fun
