Chapter 33
The crushing Reality
I was tense. My excitement when I met Human for the first time in 3 months extinguished like it never happened. Right now, we are walking toward the southwest.
Lemes the old man is walking in the front, Karias the one with the giant Hammer is walking on the left and I was on the right. Karas, a girl in her 16's, is behind and keeping watch.
We are going to the village they come from. Ramus village. A strange name. But when I go there...I will meet other people.
Not the locals but the people from the main continent. People from Roa…
Maybe...Rudy will be there...but there is something that I was trying to avoid thinking. How far has the light reached? Is it only the Roa region? Or...is it reaching Buena?
Lemes suddenly comes to a stop. "There is a sandworm dent. We should go around this." He said as he started to walk in a different direction.
I follow him silently, he knows better about the terrain than me. As we continue to walk the ground suddenly starts to shake. It was like an earthquake.
I look around only to see that nobody actually cares about this and just keeps walking. Then a sudden boom got my attention. I look at where the voice comes from only to see a giant worm of around 10 meters being held by an even bigger worm…
The body length is more than 30 meters and it is not even out of the ground...It quickly drags the worm back into the sand never to be seen again…
"What the…" is the first word I mutter.
"That was The Yellow Naga. They prey on the sandworm that is why we avoid it." Lemes said. His face looked at where I looked. "But don't worry. Even if you got swallowed whole you could just cut it out from the inside."
I nod at him and we continue our journey again. During the journey we came across many monsters I had never seen before.
Twin Death Scorpion, Sand Tiger, Invisible Wolf, Skeleton Spiders. Even a species of wolf they call lesser Fenrir. The desert Treant is a good source of fuel, with how dry and how many there are here we manage to keep the fire going for the whole night.
The Transport Armadillo is a great help too. It was strong.
I learned a lot of information during the night we spent resting. Like how people suddenly appeared 3 months ago. A lot die by falling, but most are lucky and appear on the ground. They don't speak the Fighting God Language so they can't communicate.
But there are some adventurers there too. And some Bergaritt Warriors are speaking Human Language too.
During this time I also learned a lot about the warrior here with me. First is Karias. He is stupid, carefree, and very easygoing. Second is Karas. She is a quiet girl who mostly keeps to herself and stays with Karias.
Last is Lemes. A veteran Warrior who survived this place for more than fifty years. He is very open and knowledgeable about things in Bergaritt.
He said that we are in the Oren Region and are very close to Oasis. So….I was that close to some village and I just walked past it…
We continue our journey walking past a lot of monsters, kill what attacks us then rest and begin walking again. It was like a routine.
Before long I saw the village a distance away. 2 weeks passed surprisingly fast. With this, it would be 4 months since the Teleport incident.
/Caram Village\\\
The first thing I notice about this village is that children are everywhere. They run around playing, hitting, and other things. There were more than ten kids in here.
Looking further I can see a large building. It was an open building and inside there were more children below the age of 2. With them were many women around 20 to 50, caring for the child.
"There sure are a lot of children in this village," I said.
"Well, with succubus around it is normal to have a lot of children. You see that woman over there?" He pointed at one of them. She should be around 30 or something. "That was my 3rd daughter. The kid that plays around over there is my latest son." This time he pointed to the 10-year-old boy.
"You...have a lot of children. Is that the norm in Bergaritt?"
"Well, We don't know any magic to deal with succubus power so we can only have sex to deplete the Libido," Lemes said with a shrug.
If Elinalise came here, maybe it would be heaven for her?
Karias and Karas already left the group and went to the building. They are playing with the children right now. Lemes continues to walk further in.
The building around here is mostly in block shape and some of them are from the shell of the Armadillo. I don't see any children here anymore. Instead, I saw a lot of men and women with similar tan skin Holding large weapons ranging from hammers to broadswords.
So this is the living area of the Warriors.
"Ok, we are here. You can walk ahead and you will find the survivor settlement. I will be at the adventurer guild here if you need anything." Lemes said as he walked into the rundown building. There was a sign hanging from the front with a large sword and monster on it.
So this is the village adventure Guild. I heard from him that this was in almost all the villages in Bergaritt. It seems that when people say this is a heaven for adventurers it is true…
Walking further as he instructed, I soon found a large tent. I notice people around it looking like they face the worst thing and most importantly. Their skin is different from the native here. Meaning they are from Fittoa.
I approach one of the men, sitting on the ground. He was skinny, his eyes had a bag under them and most importantly he was dirty.
"Hello, are you one of the survivors?" I ask him, my voice is completely cold.
He looked at me for a second then nodded his head.
"I see...where are you from?"
"Kantes village…" His voice was hoarse. I sigh to myself before making a cup in my hand and filling it with water. Giving him the cup he took it quickly and gulped it down all at once.
"Cough! Cough!" He coughs out as his dry throat finally has some water.
"Easy there…" I pat his back lightly." Where is Kantes Village located in Fittoa?"
"Uh...It was near Legan Village. It was a fishing village. Legan is near...Buena? It was right after you passed it. I think?"
My hand froze. I look the man in the eyes. "...and Legan is right after Buena...and your Village is near Legan right?...did you see anything before you were teleported here?"
I ask him. The man just stared into the sky thinking. "I... saw the light approaching. After that, I was here."
"I see...Thank you." I left the man and walked back toward the adventure guild I saw. Making my way toward it I rush through the door, ignoring all the stares I found from the receptionist woman.
"How long until the letter from the main continent arrives in Bergaritt!" I ask her. She was stunned for some reason and it made me even more mad. "HOW LONG-"
"1 Year. If you send it from the port in the main continent to here then it takes a year. If it's Millis then 9 months. That is if you want it to come to this guild." I stare at the one who speaks. It was Lemes.
"Then...How long will it take for me to go to the main continent? From this village to the port."
"Hm...I can't say much. With how you handle the monster that hinders you, then I would say about 2 years. That is if you go alone."
...2 years. I can't take that long. Who knows what happened to others? Zenith and Paul should be okay. They are former adventurers after all. The most worrying are Lilia, Aisha, and Norn. Lilia has an injury on her leg that renders her unable to fight. And Norn and Aisha are still just kids.
I need to find them!
Turning to the receptionist again she let out a soft cry of surprise at the sudden attention.
"Map. I need the most detailed map you have. How much is it?"
"A-um...Well, it should be around 30 shinsa…"
"How much is it in Asura coin?"
"A-around 5 silver coins."
10 silver for a map...quite expensive. I hold out my scabbard and pull the blade out. I can hear the other start getting up and a cry from the receptionist.
Holding the scabbard upside down I shake it and what comes out is 2 copper coins and 1 gold coin. I take the gold coin and give it to the receptionist.
"Map. Now." She shakily took the coin and gave me a map and another 30 shinsas. It looks like a chopped-up copper coin.
I take the map and walk out of the guild. But someone stopped me. A large man standing in front of the door.
I narrowed my eyes on him. He was at least 3 heads taller than me. His body is full of muscle and scars. "A kid wreaking havoc here and wanting to leave? Why don't you stay here for a bit?" A large grin on his face as I heard a chair moving and more men and women stood up.
I notice Lemes is just sitting quietly watching me from the side.
"Get out of my way," I said to him,
"Eh? What ya say? I can't hear you from down there kid!" Laughter rang out from everyone.
Taking in a deep breath. I look at him again. "Get. Out. Of. My. Way." Saying every word with a cold Voice while looking at him.
"Nah I think I'm good-bweh!"
Without hesitation I punched him in the stomach, sending him flying out of the building.
He did not get up. I glare at the rest of the people inside the guild. "Anyone else? I will say this first but I won't hesitate to kill you all. Right here. Right now."
Silence. I walk out of the building and see the guy I punched still out of it on the street. Ignoring him I walk toward where the entrance is.
/Lemes 3rd POV\\\
Lemes sighs as he watches the young girl walk out of the guild. Silence falls upon the guild as the young girl with just one punch defeats one of the top members of the guild.
She was strong. He thought But she was still just a kid, too hasty.
The young girl is strong. Probably stronger than him in his prime and she is even younger than him at that time.
But she is making a mistake. He understood that from how she stormed in here after visiting the Survivors settlement, she was scared. Fearing what is happening to her beloved. Maybe it was her family.
But the girl underestimated Bergaritt. Even though he said that it would take her 2 years he knows that it will take longer than that.
The harsh desert along with its regular sand storms makes this place unpredictable even to him.
Monsters everywhere, each one being at least C-Rank. They won't give her time to rest.
Well, she made her decision. It will be the last time I see her anyway.
With that thought, Lemes went back to drinking.
