Lena's POV
Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I heard Kara's soft snore. For someone who's never slept with a woman before, she knew what she was doing. Remembering last night, I felt liquid heat begin to pool. I wasn't looking for anything besides a one-night stand but I really enjoyed last night. Even before we went to bed. Hopefully I can see her again. Hearing the blonde begin to stir, I spoke softly. "Morning."
"Morning," Kara smiled sleepily.
She's beautiful. "Did I wake you?" She shook her head. "It's only ten. You can get more sleep if you'd like."
"I'm fine." Biting her lip, Kara became bashful. "I'm not really sure how this part goes."
Sliding my hand into hers, I smiled. "For this instance, I would hope breakfast would happen." Definitely more than a one-night stand.
"Are you sure? I didn't think…" Her voice trailed.
"Like I said, you're different." Cupping her cheek, I kissed the blonde gently. I fully intended it to not go anywhere until Kara rolled to her back, bringing me with her. Feeling our naked bodies pressed together again, arousal raged through my veins. I hovered over the woman, searching impossibly blue eyes. "You're just changing all my plans," I grinned.
A light blush tinted pale cheeks. I shivered feeling a featherlight touch going up my back. "You said I was different."
Dipping my head, I claimed the woman's lips once more. She enjoyed external stimulation last night. Reaching under the covers, I wrapped one of Kara's legs around my thigh. Grinding forward, Kara gasped. Her other leg wrapped around my other thigh instantly. Soft whimpers filled the room as I continued.
"Kate…" She breathed. Nails dug into my hips.
My stomach dropped but I willed my hips to keep going. I want to hear my name fall from your lips. I want to hear you moan my name as I make you come undone. Shifting, I sucked on a hardened nub as my fingers moved through liquid heat.
"Right…" Kara cried out as the floor bottomed out from under her. Becoming still, she sighed. Cupping my face, she smiled. "Good morning to you too."
"Good morning." I laughed, coming up for a lazy kiss. I moaned, feeling slender fingers moving downward. "You're hungry for more than food." I wonder if it's a me thing or if she's unlocked a new hunger for women in general.
"I guess I am," she grinned mischievously.
Rocking my hips against Kara's thrusts, I followed suit with my own morning orgasm. Collapsing beside the blonde, I grinned. Before I could say anything, Kara's stomach growled. "I agree. I'm starving too." Getting to my feet, I rummaged through my underwear drawer and stepped into a pair. "Would you like something more comfortable to wear?" Pulling on an oversized T-shirt, I pulled my hair back.
"That would be nice. Especially since half of our clothes are still on your kitchen floor."
"I mean, I'm not going to complain if you want to walk around my apartment naked." Gathering a sleep set, I placed it on the bed. "I'll give you some privacy." Tilting her chin, I kissed Kara. "I'll make some coffee first. Then we'll figure out brunch."
Cracking the door behind me, I picked up the clothing that was littered between the bedroom and kitchen. Kara is changing all of my rules. Even without me realizing it. I never bring women home. Starting the coffee pot, I waited. I typed in my address last night without a second thought. Now that I've kissed her, I don't want to stop. Rubbing my face, I sighed. If this does go anywhere, I hope she can understand why I didn't use my actual name.
The bedroom door opened revealing a clothed Kara. Stretching, her stance faltered slightly. "I guess I'm a little sore."
"You probably used some muscles last night that you didn't know you had." I'm sore too but it was worth it. She looks good in my clothes. "What would you like for breakfast? The options are pretty open."
"I can cook bacon and eggs if you'd cook French Toast." She paused, biting her lip. "Or is that too much?"
"Not at all."
Cooking with Kara was easy. We seemed to time things perfectly so we wouldn't be in each other's way. For once, cooking was enjoyable. Breakfast was filled with small talk about our likes and dislikes. I was able to skirt around work questions. As I did, guilt churned my stomach.
When it was time for Kara to leave, she hesitated at the door a moment. "Will I…can I see you again?"
"My number is already in your coat pocket," I grinned. "I put it there last night before I cleaned up the food."
Worried eyes turned hopeful. "Before we?"
"Yes. Shoot me a text or give me a call this week. We'll figure something out." I kissed Kara's cheek before opening the door. The simple action caused her to smile. "Will you be alright getting home?"
"Yeah. I will be."
"See you soon." Say it, Lena. "I hope."
"Yeah," she beamed. "Bye."
"Bye." Closing the door behind her, I started cleaning the kitchen. Thinking over last night's and this morning's events, I groaned. "I'm screwed."
Xxx
Arriving to work Monday morning, I saw a "Kara Danvers" on my schedule. Doing a quick search on the CatCo website, I smirked seeing a familiar face smiling back at me. Well, well. Today just got more interesting. Hearing my phone buzz, I saw a text from the reporter.
I hope you have a good day at work. Talk soon? -K
Definitely. I hope you have a good day too. -K Leaning back, I bit my thumb knuckle. I guess she'll know the truth sooner than expected. Maybe it's for the best. If she finds out the truth and rejects me, not much time was wasted.
Hearing a light knock, I turned towards the window. "Come in."
"Miss Luthor, Kara Danvers is here from CatCo."
"Thank you, Jess." I waited until the door closed to turn towards the blonde. I kept my CEO mask in place best I could. "We have a few things to discuss beyond The Venture explosion."
"K-Kate?" Kara stammered. "What… You're…"
"A writer indeed," I smirked. "Please, let me explain before you write me off as a bitch like everyone else." Taking a seat, Kara placed her notepad on my desk. Taking a deep breath, I began. "Obviously, my name isn't Kate. It's Lena Luthor. I took over my family's company after my brother went mad and waged war on Superman." Picking up a remote, I turned on a nearby TV. "I want to rebrand Luthor Corporation as L-Corp and make it a force for good. To help people and eventually Supergirl," I paused. "If she'll allow it." Turning back, I saw the hopeful look from yesterday. "I'm sure you can see why I didn't use my real name at the club. I didn't want any preconceived notions to interfere. Everything else I've said or done has been true."
"I can understand that." Her voice was soft.
"For now, can we keep Saturday night between us? Until we figure out what this is. I do want to see you again. I enjoyed our time together," I paused. "Dinner. My place."
Without hesitation, Kara answered. "When?"
That was quick. "Wednesday night?"
"Sure." Kara smiled, biting her lip. "All the rules just go out the window."
"With you, apparently so," I laughed. "I've never brought a woman home or cooked breakfast with, or for, her. I'd like to find out more about you."
"Same. I'm really glad you weren't on The Venture yesterday."
"I was having a much better time with you." Especially considering we were in bed when it happened. My smile caused the reporter to blush. I love when she does that.
"Me too," she smiled sheepishly.
"I know why you're here." I slid a flash drive across my desk. "A subsidiary of L-Corp made a part for The Venture. Here's all of the information I have. If you need anything else, feel free to ask."
"Thank you." Placing the thumb drive in her pocket, Kara looked around my office. "Being the CEO of a multi billion dollar company explains your apartment."
"Another reason why I used a fake name. Not that I'm ashamed of who I am, or who I have in my bed, but people aren't below trying to blackmail me. After a legitimate date, I was going to tell you the truth."
"I appreciate that. Well," getting to her feet, Kara smiled. "I better head back and look over the drive."
"Of course." Walking Kara to the door, I placed my hand on top of hers on the door handle. Dipping my head, I kissed Kara's neck causing her to shiver. Then her lips. "To hold us over until next time," I smirked playfully. "Which won't be after dinner. I meant what I said about getting to know you. I hope you're a one woman kind of girl."
"I-I-I am," she stammered. Face beet red.
"Until then."
"Until then," she paused, "Lena."
My name. It sounds so nice coming from her. "Bye."
Later that afternoon, I was needed elsewhere. As much as I hated it, the easiest way to travel was via helicopter. As I climbed in, I did my best not to show fear. "Skies are clear, Miss Luthor. It should be a smooth flight."
"I know it's one of the safest ways to travel but I still hate it." Ascending into the air, I clenched my fist trying to keep calm. "What the hell?" Three drones surrounded us. Guns pointed in our direction. As they fired, two red and blue figures placed themselves in harm's way.
"Superman and Supergirl?" The pilot muttered before glass shattered.
Everything happened so quickly. The next thing I knew, we were back on L-Corp's roof. Taking off the headset, I ran a nervous hand through my hair. Turning towards the pilot, I was met by familiar blue eyes. "Supergirl?"
"We need to talk. First, I need to get you and him to safety. Someone is trying to kill you."
After the ambulance left, I made sure no more of my employees were hurt. The last thing I want is anyone to be harmed because of me. Once I was satisfied, I went home for the day.
Pouring myself a stiff drink, I sat on the couch and tried to process everything. Someone is trying to kill me. Probably connected to Lex. Kara Danvers is Supergirl. Supergirl is Superman's cousin. The same cousin my brother tried to kill. How the hell did I get myself into this situation? All I did was buy a cute girl a drink.
Hearing a light knock, I went to see who it was. I chuckled seeing Kara holding a flower arrangement on the screen. Opening the door, I smirked. "Flowers?"
"I'm really sorry. I couldn't tell you yet. I wasn't sure how you would react," she paused. "Especially now."
"The fact that I opened the door is a good sign." Taking the arrangement, I stood to the side. "Come in."
"Thank you." Entering, the skittish blonde ringed her hands.
"I can't exactly be mad at you. I did the same thing for a different reason. But your name is "Kara" correct?" Unable to resist, I smelled the flowers before setting them down.
"Yes. My name is Kara. I adopted the last name Danvers when I found my new family here on Earth."
Taking a seat on the couch, I guided the blonde with me. "What's your Kryptonian last name?"
"Zor-El." Shifting to face me, Kara made herself comfortable. "Eventually, I want to tell you my whole story."
That explains why she smiled when I said I wanted to help Supergirl. "Is it safe to assume Supergirl will let me help her if needed?"
"Very safe," Kara smiled sheepishly. "So, we're okay?"
"As long as you're okay sleeping with the enemy," I joked. Crossing my arms, I tried to protect myself. I'm closing myself off. I really don't want to.
"Lena," Kara placed a hand on my forearm. "You are not my enemy." Her jaw clenched before she continued. Panic started to set in.
"What?" I watched as panic turned into shock and then fear. "Kara?" I cupped the Super's face. "Breathe. What is it?"
"A thought." Kara's voice was nearly inaudible.
She's trembling. "What kind of thought?" I searched stormy blue eyes.
"You're not my enemy." She paused, holding my gaze. "Hopefully, you'll be my girlfriend…" Kara grinned. "Maybe? After another date or two?"
"It's heading that direction. Will you come to the ceremony tomorrow? As my plus one and backup if needed?"
"You're going through with the renaming ceremony?"
"I have to. Otherwise, there's no way I can get out of my family's shadow and make L-Corp a force for good."
"Of course I'll be there. I'm getting to see you almost every day this week," Kara laughed.
"I guess you are. It's a good thing we like each other."
