Emma was working at Granny's cleaning tables very upset at what she was witnessing. Her mother on a date with some doctor who worked in the hospital. Dr. Whale she thought his name was. It didn't matter. Her mother was on a date with another guy that wasn't her father. She sneakily listened to their conversation as she continued to clean tables. "Where were we? Something about you wanting 15 kids" Dr. Whale asked. "Oh, good lord, no. I meant in my class. Where I teach. You'll meet them tomorrow. They're coming to the hospital as part of the volunteer outreach program" Mary said. "Emma orders up" Granny called as Emma went over to the counter to get the food one of the couples she was waiting on ordered. "Oh, yeah, that is a great program" Dr. Whale said as he checked out Emma as she passed their table. "I mean, obviously I don't want 15 kids of my own. I mean, not that I don't want kids, I do. I want kids, marriage, true love. I want it all" Mary said as she noticed him checking out Emma.
"That is wildly inappropriate for me to discuss on a first date" Mary said. "Hmm" Dr. Whale asked as Emma now noticed him checking her out. "Can I help you with something" Emma asked the doctor. He shook his head. "No nothing I was just admiring the view" Dr. Whale said giving her a flirty smile. Emma looked at her mother who looked hurt. The doctor was very lucky her father wasn't here right now. Not only was the doctor on a date with his wife and being completely disrespectful to her but he was also hitting on his daughter. Emma didn't know if he would have made it out of this diner still breathing. "You know you should focus on your date rather than hitting on someone who is way too young for you" Emma said. She turned and looked at Mary. "You shouldn't be on a date with this sleazeball. You deserve better" Emma said. Mary turned to Ruby as she passed the table holding a tray. "Ruby" Mary said. "Yes, Mary Margaret" Ruby asked. "Check, please" Mary said.
When Mary left the diner she bumped into David who dropped the drink he was holding onto his shirt. "Dammit" he said. "Oh god I'm so sorry" Mary said. "It's alright it's just" David started but stopped when he saw who had bumped into him. He smiled at her with a smile that was only reserved for her. "A shirt. Hi" David said zipping up his leather jacket to cover up the stain that was now on his shirt. "Hi" Mary said smiling at him. She didn't know what it was but she felt a connection to him. They just smiled at each other for a moment happy to see each other. "So what are you doing here? Come for some of Granny's famous lasagna" Mary laughed. David joined her in laughing. "No I just came by to see Emma. I figured since she's working late and I just got off work myself we could have dinner together. I had no idea I'd be wearing my hot cocoa though. I guess Granny could make me a new one" David said. "Sorry about that" Mary said awkwardly. David shook his head. "It's fine really" he said.
"So what are you doing out so late" David asked. "Well, I'm a teacher, not a nun. I had a date" Mary said. That upset David a lot. "A date? You had a date" David said. "Don't sound so surprised" Mary said. "I'm not. I mean your beautiful and everything. Who was the lucky guy" David asked. What he really meant was who was the unlucky guy because once David saw him he didn't think he would be able to control his anger. This guy was going on a date with his wife. He understood everyone was under a curse but still Snow was off limits. Mary couldn't believe David had just called her beautiful. "Dr. Whale" she finally answered. "The doctor from the hospital" David asked. "That's the one" Mary said. David thought for a second. He had no idea who Dr. Whale was back home and that was concerning to him. He didn't want him anywhere near his wife or daughter. He didn't know if he could trust him. "So how did it go" David asked hoping it was horrible.
"It went about as well as any of my dates go" Mary said looking away from David. David was conflicted in how he felt. On one hand he hated seeing his wife upset but on the other he was happy she hadn't found anyone else who she loved. At least he didn't have to worry about another person that was keeping them apart the only thing keeping them apart was the curse. "Tell me he at least paid" David said. "Not exactly. Well, I guess if true love was easy, we'd all have it" Mary said. David smiled at that. "Don't worry your true love is out there somewhere. Who knows he may even be closer than you think" he said. "What makes you so sure" Mary asked. "Trust me I'm kind of a true love expert. You'll find him someday" David said. This made Mary laugh. "I know those town houses can get kind of cramped but if you and Emma need a place to stay I have the room" Mary said. David thought for a moment. "Thanks but me and Emma are fine" David said. It would be too hard for him.
David said goodnight to Mary and walked into the diner. David looked around and didn't see Whale. That was a good thing. He didn't know what he would do if he saw him. He sat at a table and waited the 15 minutes for Emma to get off. When she did she came and sat down at the table with him. "So did you figure out a plan for how were going to deal with Uncle James Aunt Regina and Mr. Gold. I mean if they're all teaming up together we have a big problem" Emma said. "I don't think James and Regina are teaming up with Mr. Gold but he's still a threat. You heard the tape. We can't trust any of them. We have to be careful around them" David said. Emma nodded her head in agreement as their food came. "I saw your mother outside" David said. "You did? What did she say" Emma asked. "Nothing much just complained about her date with Whale" David said. Emma rolled her eyes. "That guy is a creep. I mean can you believe he tried to hit on me" Emma asked as David started choking on his food.
"He did what" David asked after he took a sip of water. "Yea while he was on a date with mom he was staring at my ass and everything. He's a jerk" Emma said taking another bite of her food. "That's it I'm going to kill him" David said. "Well do you think that could wait until tomorrow? We have a big problem" Emma said. "What is that" David asked. "Mom was out on a date with a guy that wasn't you. We can't let that happen again" Emma said. David nodded. "I agree but we can't exactly tell her that I'm actually her husband and she can't remember that because of the curse" he said. "That's why your going to ask her out" Emma said. David looked at his daughter who just continued eating as if she hadn't just suggested something crazy. "Emma I can't just ask her out" David said. "Why not" Emma asked. "Well for one she barely knows me and two I don't think she likes me like that" David said. "Well fine dad if your OK with her dating other guys than I guess we do nothing" Emma said. "Fine I'll do it" David said.
Later that night David and Emma were asleep in the town house they were staying in when a mysterious stranger walked into David's room. They stood at the edge of the bed and watched as David slept soundly. They held out a gloved hand and stroked David's cheek with the back of their hand while he slept. "Your perfect. Soon you will be mine" the mysterious stranger said. David started to move but he didn't wake up. Instead he just rolled over still in a deep sleep. The stranger smiled and walked over to the closet. They took out a bag and took one of the five leather jackets David had and threw it in there. Then they walked over to his dresser and took a pair of his jeans, one of his belts, a couple of his button up shirts and couple of his wife beater tanks. They took out one of his boxers and smelled it. They smiled and threw it in the bag too. They closed up the bag and looked at David sleeping peacefully. They gave the sleeping prince one last look and left the room.
The next morning David and Emma were getting ready for the day and David was confused. He could have sworn he was missing some clothes. He knew he was definitely missing his black leather jacket. He still had 4 more but the black one was definitely missing. "I'm ready" Emma said coming out of her room. David snapped out of his thoughts and grabbed his blue leather jacket and put it on. He put the thought of his missing clothes out of his mind as it was a big day for him. He was going to ask Mary out on a date. He shouldn't have been so nervous to ask out his wife but he was. She didn't remember their life together and it was going to be hard for him to act like he wasn't completely in love with her and she wasn't his wife. He only had to do it until the curse was broken but still it was hard. "Dad don't forget what we talked about" Emma said. David rolled his eyes. "I'm going over to Mary's apartment before my shift to ask her out" David said. Emma hugged him and left for work.
David arrived at Mary's apartment and took a deep breath before knocking on her door. Mary answered and smiled when she saw David. "Hi" she said smiling at him. "Hi" he said smiling back. After a few seconds of them just smiling at each other Mary broke the silence. "I'm sorry but did you want something" she asked sweetly. David snapped back to reality and remembered why he was there. "Oh yea I came to ask you a question? I was just wondering if you would maybe like to go on a date with me" he asked nervous about her response. "Right now" she asked. "No I have to work but maybe after my shift tonight. I'll pick you up and we can go out to dinner or something" David said nervously. Mary looked at him sad. "I'd love to but tonight I'm volunteering at the hospital" she said. "Well then I'll stop by" David said. "You don't have to" Mary said. David nodded. "I know I don't have to but I want to" he said. She smiled at him. "I'd love that" she said. "I'll see you tonight" David said leaving.
David was having trouble concentrating at work. He was to excited for tonight. He had a date with his wife. No stupid curse was going to keep them apart. He kept looking at the clock checking the time. He loved his job and normally he was completely focused on it but all he could think about was his date with Mary tonight. After what felt like forever but was only a couple of hours his shift was over. He said bye to Graham and headed home to shower and get ready for his date. When he got home he saw something weird the door was opened slightly. He had definitely locked the door before he left. He took out his gun and slowly walked into the house. He searched the whole house but found nothing. He called Emma to make sure she was OK and once he knew she was OK he jumped in the shower. Unbeknownst to David the mysterious stranger from the night before was in the house. They went out the back and hid outside when they heard David come in the house.
They walked past the bathroom and into his room again and stole more clothes but this time they took his gun and badge as well. They were able to leave the house while David was in the shower and walked down the street to where their car was hidden. They opened the trunk and threw the bag with the stolen stuff in there and got in their car. Once in the car they picked up a file and opened it. Inside were pictures of David. There were pictures of him with Emma, at the sheriff's station and there was a picture of David in his tight jeans which were the stranger's favorite. The stranger had a obsession with David and they were determined to capture him and make him theirs. They just needed to wait for the right time to strike. "You don't even know what's coming your way" the stranger said looking at a picture they had of David naked coming out of the shower. "Pretty soon I will own every part of you Prince Charming" the stranger said putting the file down and driving away.
David got out of the shower wrapped a towel around his waist and walked into his room. He looked around for clothes to wear on his date but was shocked by what he found. He barely had any clothes. He had no more button up shirts. They were all gone. He was just left with a couple of sweaters and t shirts. He only had one pair of jeans left and the rest of his leather jackets were stolen except the one he wore earlier in the day. Now David knew someone was definitely in the house. He went to get his gun and look around the house again but it was gone and so was his badge. What the hell was going on? Before he could investigate further the alarm clock on his phone went off. He was going to be late. He quickly got dressed and left the house making a mental note to pick up more clothes tomorrow before work. He stopped and picked up flowers. The flower shop had snowbells which he thought was a sign. Then he drove over to the hospital.
He was told where Mary was and when he got there he saw her in one of the patients rooms. "What are you doing" David asked which made Mary jump. "Oh nothing I was delivering flowers but then I started looking at the John Doe in a coma and thought about how sad it is that he has no family here. No one's looking for him. I can't imagine that" Mary said. David got a good look at the patient and recognized him. It was Fredrick. He didn't know what his name was here but back home he was Fredrick. Mary looked at him. "You ready" she asked him. "Yea these are for you" David said handing her the flowers. "Oh there so beautiful. Thank you" David smiled at her. "So are you" David said and Mary looked away blushing. "So I was thinking maybe we could" David started to say but stopped when he saw the John Doe sit up. Both David and Mary looked at him in surprise not knowing what to do. Then the John Doe pointed at David. David stared at him in shock. Mary looked at him. "Do you know this man" Mary asked. "No I have no idea who he is" David said. Just then the John Doe's head fell back on the bed. He was back in the coma. David and Mary looked at each other. Neither one knew what had just happened but they both knew it wasn't normal. Something was wrong with that John Doe.
