David and Mary went to go get Dr Whale much to David's displeasure. He didn't want to deal with the man especially not since him and Mary were supposed to be on a date right now. They walked through the dark hospital and finally found him. "Dr. Whale we need your help" Mary said. He looked between David and Mary. "How can I help the two of you" he asked. "The John Doe. He woke up" Mary said. "What" Dr. Whale asked shocked. "Yea me and David were in the room and he sat up and pointed at David" Mary said. Whale looked at David. "Why did he point at you? Do you know who he is" Whale asked David. David shook his head. "No" David simply said. "OK why don't you guys show me" Whale said. "Of course" Mary said walking out of the room with Whale and David following behind her. They walked over to the John Doe's room and Whale checked the machines. He looked at Mary and David. He looked at the machines again. "Everything's steady. Same as it's always been" Whale said.
"What were you guys doing in here" Whale asked David and Mary. "Oh, I was just delivering him flowers when David came to pick me up for our date" Mary said. Whale looked at David. "You two have a date" he scoffed. David glared at him. "Yea is that a problem" David asked not really caring what Whale's answer was. "It's no problem at all. Good luck with this one" Whale said to David. It took everything David had to hold himself back and not punch the Doctor in the face. "Anyway are you guys sure he woke up? Perhaps you guys imagined it" Whale asked. David looked at him in disbelief. "We imagined it? The both of us. Together. Really? That's the best you got" David said. "No, we didn't imagine anything" Mary said. "Well I can only tell you two what I see which is nothing. Sometimes there are minor fluctuations in readings. Perhaps you guys heard the machine register something and misunderstood" Whale said.
"We didn't misunderstand anything. He woke up" David said while Mary was deep in thought. Maybe they did imagine it. "Look, why don't you two go and enjoy your date? If anything changes, I'll call you guys. OK" Whale said. David laughed to himself and rolled his eyes. "Some doctor you turned out to be" he said under his breath. Whale gave David a sharp look. "I'm sorry Mr. Nolan is there a problem" Whale asked. "Actually there is" David said walking over to Whale so that they were face to face to each other. "Next time you are on a date with a beautiful woman try to show her some respect and don't be checking out other women who are far too young for you and also happen to be the deputy's daughter" David said. "David it's fine come on let's go" Mary said trying to pull him away. Whale let out a little laugh. "I don't know what you heard but I assure you nothing happened between me and your daughter" Whale said. "Lets keep that way" David said as Mary pulled him out of the room.
Whale watched them leave and once they were out of site he pulled out his phone and dialed a number. He cleared his throat. "Yes" James said on the other end of the line. "It's Dr. Whale. "You told me to call you if there was ever a change in our John Doe. Something's happened" Whale said. "What" James said as he watched his mother singing a lullaby to Henry. "Your brother and Mary Margaret said he woke up and he pointed at your brother. There was a slight fluctuation in brain activity" Whale said. "Thank you for letting me know. I will handle it. Now I have business I have to attend to. Goodnight doctor" James said hanging up the phone. He walked back over to his mother and a now sleeping Henry. James pulled out the memory rock and held it close to Henry's head. "You will forget all about this visit with your grandmother. You and me just went rock climbing" James said as memories came out of Henry's head and went into the rock and memories came out of the rock and went into Henry's head.
"Maybe you should just tell him the truth about me. I mean you don't have to keep taking away his memories and replacing them with fake ones" Maleficent said. James shook his head. "If I let him keep his memories of meeting you he'll tell Regina and she can't know your alive. That's why I put it into the curse that you would be trapped down here with no way out. I'm sorry mom. I wish it could be different" he said. "Me to" Maleficent said and she looked away from him. She was still mad at him after his last visit. He hated his mother being mad at him. She was one of the most important people to him. He had to make it right with her. "So I've made a decision. I've decided maybe I was wrong. I'll tell David your down here and let him come and see you" James said. Maleficent looked at James and smiled. She walked over and gave him a hug. "Thank you" she said. James smiled. His mother wasn't mad at him anymore. That was all he wanted even if he just lied to her.
"I'll let David know tomorrow. It's too late right now" James said. Maleficent pulled back from the hug and looked at James smiling. "Thank you sweetie. I'm finally going to get to see David after all these years" Maleficent said excitedly. James smiled seeing his mother so excited. He had no intention of actually telling David about Maleficent being in the mines but he saw an opportunity. When David didn't show up tomorrow to see her it would break her heart and make her sad. He would successfully turn their mother against David. It was the perfect plan. "I really should be getting Henry home" James said walking over and picking up Henry's sleeping body. "Thanks for the sleeping potion mom. You know that's the only way this roc works" James said. "He'll wake up in the morning. He's a good kid. You and Regina did well with him" Maleficent said. James smiled at her. "Thanks mom. I really have to go. I'll see you tomorrow after David comes to visit" James said knowing full well David wasn't going to come.
David was driving Mary home after their date. It didn't go the way he planned at all. She was too distracted thinking about the John Doe in the hospital and to be honest so was he so they decided to end the date early. They both knew what they saw. They weren't crazy. Maybe if David and Emma could find Abigail then maybe that would help Fredrick. They would look for her tomorrow. They arrived at Mary's apartment and walked up to the door in silence. Mary opened it and turned around. "Are we crazy? Did we actually see what we thought we saw" she asked. David nodded his head. "Yea I know what we saw actually happened. Were not crazy I promise" David said. Mary looked down at the floor nervously. "I'm sorry about our date. I know I was really distracted and you didn't deserve that" Mary said. David smiled at her. "It's OK. I just liked be around you" he said. Mary smiled. "Thank you for what you said to Whale. It really means a lot" Mary said. David shook his head.
"It's no problem really. Someone had to put him in his place. Maybe we could try this again without the coma patient waking up on us this time" David joked. Mary laughed. "Tell you what tomorrow night we can have dinner here just the two of us. I'll cook and don't worry there's no coma patient's here to interrupt us" Mary said. This time David laughed. "So what do you say" Mary asked. "It's a date" David said. They both smiled at each other. "Goodnight David" Mary said. "Goodnight Mary Margaret" David said. Mary leaned in and kissed David's cheek. That caught him off guard. He wasn't expecting it. He smiled really wide. Mary closed the door with David on the other side. He put his hand up to his cheek. Everything was working out fine. He was going to get his wife back and his family would be reunited. All that was standing in the way was the curse but obviously not even the curse could come between his and Snow's true love. He would deal with helping Fredrick tomorrow. Tonight David was going to sleep a very happy man.
