In Storybrooke David Emma Mary and Graham were searching the woods for Frederick. It was night and the owls were hooting. They walked deep into the woods when Graham stopped by a broken branch and leaned down to examine it. "What is it" Mary asked. "The trail runs out here" Graham said. "OK well that's not good" Emma said. "Don't worry we'll find him. That's my specialty" David said. Emma looked at her father and mother and an idea crossed her mind. "I know why don't we split up? I'll go with Graham and Dad you and Mary can look together" Emma said winking at her father when he looked at her. "I don't think that's a good idea" David said. "Why not? We'll cover more ground and me and Mary will be safe because we'll be with the trained professionals" Emma said. The truth was Emma just wanted her parents to be alone and this was a great way to get that to happen. Her father just needed to stop being so stubborn.
"I actually think that's a great idea" Mary said. David looked over at her. He didn't like the idea of Emma being in the woods at night without him looking for Fredrick especially while he had a stalker out there that he still didn't know who they were. "This is my world. She'll be fine with me I promise" Graham said. David turned to look at Graham. He looked at all of the people around him. It looked like he was out voted. David sighed. "Fine be careful" David said. Emma nodded. "I'll look after her. I promise" Graham said and him and Emma ran off deeper in the woods. David and Mary walked in the other direction. "So is this how you normally find people? Out in the woods in the middle of the night" Mary asked. David smiled. "Not really. Normally people will run to someone or somewhere they're familiar with. Not a lot hit the woods" David said. "Oh!" Mary said. "I find what you do to be fascinating" Mary said. "Really" David asked. "Yea you find people when they don't want to be found" Mary said.
"Well it's more of a skill" David laughed. "How'd you fall into this skill" Mary asked. "I don't know. I guess with me and my wife" David started but Mary interrupted him. "Your married" Mary said disappointed. David stopped walking and looked at her. Crap. He screwed up. "It's complicated" David said. He didn't want to flat out lie to her but he couldn't exactly tell her she was his wife. Mary just looked at David sadly. "Anyway when people keep trying to keep you from the love of your life you kind of have to develop that skill" David said as he continued to walk. "People tried to keep the two of you apart. Who" Mary asked following behind him. "My parents. They didn't like her" David said. "That's awful. I'm sorry your parents tried to keep you from the woman you love" Mary said. David gave her a sad smile remembering all the struggles they had went through with his parents particularly his father. "My mother came around eventually but my father he never approved of us" David said.
"Well it all worked out in the end right? I mean you guys had Emma" Mary said. David smiled and nodded his head. "Yea being her father is the greatest accomplishment of my life" David said. Mary smiled at him. "Well you've done a great job with her" she said. "Thanks" he said smiling back at her. They continued walking in silence for a minute until Mary turned to David. "So what happened to your wife" Mary asked. David stopped and looked at her. This was the one question he had been dreading her asking. He didn't want to lie to her but he couldn't just tell the truth. So he just stood there looking at her sadly. Mary looked at him nervously mentally kicking herself. She shouldn't of asked him that. That was going too far. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked. I didn't mean to pry" Mary said skittishly. David shook his head. "It's OK. It's just something I don't like to talk about" David said. Mary nodded her head. "I understand" she said.
"So do you really think John Doe went this deep into the woods" she asked. "I don't know. He could be anywhere" David said. "He's probably alone and scared" Mary said. "That's why we have to find him. So that he's not alone anymore" David said. All of a sudden they heard a noise in the bushes behind them. They turned around and David pulled Mary behind him. He pulled out his gun and pointed it toward the branches along with the flashlight he was holding. "Show yourself now" David yelled to the bushes. Just then Emma ran out of the bushes. Realizing it was Emma David put away his gun. David looked at her. Her hair was messed up and more of the buttons on her blouse were unbuttoned showing a little bit too much off for David's liking. "Emma are you all right? What happened to you" David asked. Emma looked at him confused. "Nothing" she said. "Are you sure" David said pointing out her appearance. Emma looked down at herself.
"Crap" she said turning around and buttoning up two of the buttons on her blouse. She turned back around and looked at her mother and father. Hopefully they had a chance to talk and decided to be together. "We found something" Emma said. "Where" David asked. "Follow me. I'll show you" Emma said. David and Mary followed Emma just as the stalker came out from behind a tree. They watched them leave and smiled. The prince and princess had no idea who they were but they soon would and once they were done with the prince and princess both of them would have a new life. The princess would get to start a new life with Emma somewhere else but the prince he would soon belong to the stalker.
