In Storybrooke Mr. Gold was standing at the coffee machine getting a cup of coffee. It wouldn't work so he hit it once and coffee came out. David walked up to him. "Well, well must be my lucky day" Mr. Gold said taking the cup of coffee. "Care for a cup Mr. Nolan" Mr. Gold asked. "A baby? That's your merchandise. Why didn't you tell me" David asked. Mr. Gold just smiled and started to walk away from him. "Well because at the time you didn't need to know" Mr. Gold said. "Really or you thought I wouldn't take the job" David said. "On the contrary I thought it would be more effective if you found out yourself. Emma's around the same age as Ashley right" Mr. Gold said. "What's your point" David asked annoyed. "Well I knew this one would affect you personally and you would feel you had no choice but to help her" Mr. Gold said smiling at David. David just stared at Mr. Gold straight faced. "Your not getting that kid" David said shaking his head.
"Actually we have an agreement and my agreement's are always honored. If not I'm going to have to ask you as a member of the sheriff's department to arrest Ashley and that baby's going to end up in the system. That would be a pity" Mr. Gold said. David continued to stare at him. There had to be a way for Ashley to be able to keep her baby. He couldn't just let her lose the baby especially to the dark one. Who knew what he would do with the baby? "The baby's not going to end up in the system" David said confidently. "I like your confidence. It's charming but all I have to do is press charges. She did after all break into my shop as you know" Mr. Gold said pointing to the bump on David's head from where he hit the shelf before being knocked out. "Let me guess to steal her contract" David said. Mr. Gold shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows what she was after" he said. "There is no jury in the world who will put a woman in jail who's only reason for breaking and entering was to keep her child" David said.
"I'm willing to roll the dice that contract won't stand up. Are you? Not to mention what might come out about you in the process and let's be honest you and I both know there's more to you than a simple pawnbroker. You really want to start that fight" David said. Mr. Gold smiled at him. "I like you Mr. Nolan. Your not afraid of me. That's either cocky or presumptuous either way I would rather have you on my side" Mr. Gold said. "So she can keep the baby" David asked. "Not just yet" Mr. Gold said walking away. He finished his coffee and threw the cup away. "There's still the matter of my agreement Mr. Nolan" Mr. Gold said. "Tear it up" David said. "That's not what I do. You see contracts, deals well there the very foundation of all civilized existence. So I put it to you know if you want Ashley to have that baby, are you willing to make a deal with me" Mr. Gold asked. David knew better than to make deals with the dark one. They always came with a price but he couldn't let Ashley lose her baby.
"What do you want" David asked. "Oh I don't know just yet. You'll owe me a favor" Mr. Gold said. David thought about it. He didn't want to owe the dark one anything but this was about keeping Ashley's baby out of his hands. Mr. Gold watched David curiously. Was he going to accept his offer? David knew who he was and he had made deals with him before. It would be good to have the prince be in his debt. David held out his hand. "Deal" he said. Mr. Gold shook his hand and smiled he had gotten the prince. David glared at him and started to walk away. "I would be careful around sheriff Graham" Mr. Gold said. David stopped in his tracks and turned around. "What do you mean" he asked. "He's on your brother's payroll and he is very loyal to your brother and Regina. I wouldn't turn my back on him" Mr. Gold said. David stared at Mr. Gold confused. "Why are you telling me this" he asked. Mr. Gold shrugged. "Seeing as were friends now I just thought I would give you a friendly warning" he said walking away leaving David questioning whether or not he could really trust Graham.
David walked into Ella's room in the hospital and saw Emma standing next to Ashley who was in bed holding her baby. Emma looked up at her father. "Hi dad" Emma said smiling at him. He walked over to the bed and smiled at her. He turned to Ashley. "What's her name" he asked. "Alexandra" Ashley said smiling at her baby girl. "It's a pretty name" David said. Ashley sighed. "Thank you for getting me here" Ashley said turning to look at David. "Mr. Gold is outside. I took care of it. She's yours" David said. "She is" Ashley asked in relief. "What did you do" Ashley asked. "I made a deal with him" David said. Emma looked at her shocked. "You did what" she asked. "It's fine. Don't worry" David said. Ashley nodded. "Thank you" she said. David smiled at Ashley and nodded back. Just then Emma's phone rang. She looked at it and got off the bed. "I gotta go. I'll see you at home dad" Emma said starting to walk away. "Is everything OK" David asked. "Yea everything's fine. I just gotta go" Emma said leaving the room.
James walked into the hospital as his phone rang. He saw it was Regina. "Hello baby how did the meeting go" he asked. Regina sighed into the phone. "Fine I'm never doing it without you again. How is everything there" Regina asked. "Fine I'm just finishing up my own business" James said. "What's wrong" she asked. "Nothing just Cinderella stole something valuable to us" he answered. "What did she steal" Regina asked. "She got into Mr. Gold's vault" James answered. Regina gasped on the phone. "That means she has it. If she gives it to David he'll become even more of a threat" Regina said. "David doesn't even know about it. Trust me he's in the dark" James said. Regina sighed in relief. "That's good. We're going to need it" she said. "I know. I'm taking care of it" James said making it to the maternity ward. James saw David leave Ashley's room. "Listen babe I got to go talk to Ashley. Don't for get about our meeting with Graham later today" James said into the phone. They said they're goodbyes and hung up.
James walked into Ashley's room. "She's beautiful" James said from his spot at the door. Ashley looked up and saw James standing in the doorway. She knew it was James because David had just left and James had a more sinister scary look to him not the caring compassionate look David had. Ashley held Alexandra close to her. "What do you want" she asked. James walked up to the bed. "Relax you can keep your baby. I just want what you stole from Mr. Gold" James said. Ashley shook her head. "David already took care of the contract" she said. James shook his head. "Not the contract you stupid girl. I want the other thing that was in the vault that you took" James said. "Why? What value does it have to you" Ashley asked. James sighed. "It's a family heirloom. Where is it" James asked. "I hid it under the bridge in the woods. I was going to sell it to make some extra money" she said. James nodded. "Oh and make sure David doesn't find out about this" he said. She nodded. "He won't" she said.
Hours later Regina was at home in her meeting with Graham in her office. She had told Henry to stay in his room until the meeting was done because she had an important meeting that couldn't be disturbed. Paul was in the guest house and normally didn't disturb the meetings her and James had. "I won't do it anymore" Graham said. Regina sighed and nodded her head. "Yes you will. We told you this is very important" she said. "I won't spy on David for you two anymore. He's a good man. All of the research I've done on him says that. He doesn't deserve this" he said. Regina shook her head. "David is not a good man. It's all an act. He's a very dangerous man who is a threat to everyone in town" she said. "I don't believe that" Graham said. "He destroyed mine and James's lives. He can't be trusted" Regina said. "What did he do to the two of you" Graham asked. "It doesn't matter. All that matters is that we find out why he's really here before he hurts someone" Regina said.
"Well find someone else. I'm done being your guys lapdog" Graham said. Just then he felt a sharp pain in his chest where his heart was supposed to be. He yelled out in pain and fell to his knees. Regina smiled. "You were saying" she said as James walked into the room squeezing Graham's heart in his hand. He locked the door behind him. "You will continue to spy on David for us. He is a dangerous man and it is your job to protect the town from him" James said into Graham's heart. He stopped squeezing and walked over to the desk. He put the heart in a drawer in the desk. Graham's chest stopped hurting and he stood up. "There is nothing to report about David. He wasn't at work today" Graham said completely under James and Regina's control. "That would be my fault. I needed my brother to do something for me. He'll be there tomorrow and you will let us know his every move" James said. Graham nodded. "I'll walk you out" Regina said walking Graham to the front door.
Regina opened the door and Graham walked out. "Thank you for everything sheriff" Regina said hugging him. Across the street David was hiding behind a tree taking pictures. He knew he couldn't trust Graham and know it looked like he was working with Regina and James against him and Emma. He didn't want to jump to conclusions and he definitely didn't fully trust the dark one but he had to admit he had been a little suspicious of Graham for a while now. David continued taking pictures as Regina walked back inside and Graham walked to his car. After Graham drove away David pulled out his phone and called him. "Hello" Graham answered. "Graham it's David. I was just wondering if you needed me to come in today. I'm free right now" David said. "No I got everything taken care of" Graham said. "Are you at the office" David asked. "Yea just doing some paperwork. I'll call you if anything happens. I'll see you Monday morning" Graham said. "See ya" David said. He hung up. Graham had just lied to him. Something was going on with him and David was going to find out what it was.
Back in the house Regina walked back into the office as James was putting Graham's heart in a box and locking it. He put it back in the drawer in the desk and looked up at his wife. "He's gone" James asked. Regina nodded her head. James smiled at her. "Did you get it" Regina asked. James nodded and pulled the jewel of Amara out of his pocket. "I got it" James said smiling. Regina smiled back and walked over and kissed him. She stopped kissing him and looked up at him. "Does it work here" she asked. James nodded took her hand and walked her over to the fireplace. He held the jewel tightly and blew fire into the fireplace. All of a sudden the fireplace was lit up with fire. "As long as we have this jewel we will have magic" James said kissing Regina. "We'll be able to make sure our curse isn't broken" she said. James nodded. "My brother and niece have a lot of issues coming their way and they don't even know it. Now we have a magical advantage" he said. They laughed and kissed each other again.
At Mr. Gold's shop Mr. Gold walked into the back. He took out a chest and used a key to open it. He rummaged through it until he found what he was looking for. He took out a box and smiled. He opened the box and inside was a veil that was glowing. It was the blood he took from the prince back in the enchanted forest the night of his capture. Now was the time for him to use it. He walked up to a table and took out a knife. He poured two drops of blood on the knife and the knife started glowing. He put the veil which still had David's blood in it back in the box and put the box in the chest. He locked the chest up and put it back in it's hiding spot. He picked up the knife and smiled. If either the prince or the mayor became an issue he knew what to do. One stab from him and they lose all of their dragon abilities forever. Dragon blood was a dangerous thing especially when you knew how to use it and he did. He took the knife and his it in his suit jacket. He would be keeping it on him at all times.
Graham drove to Granny's. He got a text that said the person he was meeting was at the inn and they were in room 224. He wanted to get them food first before he went over to the inn. He got out of his car and walked into Granny's. He waved at Ruby. "The usual plus add an extra to that order" he said sitting down at the bar. Ruby nodded her head. "You got it" she said walking into the back. Graham waited patiently for his food. A couple minutes later Ruby walked out with two bags. She walked up to the bar and put them in front of him. He paid for his meals and walked to the back. He drove to the inn and walked to room 224 with the bags in his hands. He waited until the person h on the other side opened the door. When they opened the door he smiled. "Hello beautiful. I got us some food" he said holding up the bags. Emma smiled and grabbed his tie. "I don't think were going to be doing much eating" she said pulling him in the room by his tie and kissing him. She shut the door and just enjoyed getting to be with her boyfriend. Unfortunately they had to be together secretly but it didn't matter. She was just happy to be in his arms again and she would do whatever it took to keep this secret especially from her father.
