In the enchanted forest the next morning James and Regina woke up in each other's arms. James smiled at Regina. "Hi" he said. "Hi" she said back. "I wish you didn't have to go" Regina said. James nodded. "I know but if I don't do what my father wants and bring home the stuff he asked me to my brother and mother will face the consequences" James said. Regina looked at him. "You never told me your parents names" she said. James sighed. "Well my mother's name is Maleficent" James said. Regina sat up and looked at him. "The mistress of all evil" she asked. James nodded his head. "She's not like that anymore. She hasn't been since me and David were hatched" James said. Regina looked at him confused. "Hatched? Like from an egg" she asked. James nodded. "When female dragons give birth their children start out in eggs" James said. "Were you hatched as a dragon" Regina asked. James laughed and shook his head. "No. Me and David were human babies" he said.
"When did you start turning into a dragon" Regina asked. "Me and David started developing our powers around the time we were five years old" James said. Regina nodded in understanding. "What about your father? What's his name" Regina asked. "Mephisto" James said. Regina just stared at him blankly. "The horned king" he said. Realization crept on Regina's face. "I've heard stories about him from my mother. Apparently he's the most evil man in any kingdom. He gets his joy from killing and torturing people" she said. James nodded his head and gave Regina a sad smile. "That's dad. That's what me and David have put up with our whole lives. I even have the scars to prove it" James said pointing to a scar across his stomach that looked like a knife slashed him. Regina lightly touched it feeling for the man in front of her. "I was six. Me and David broke one of my fathers most prized objects. It was a necklace that must have been magical because dad got so mad. It was an accident but he didn't care" James said.
"David tried to take the blame himself so dad didn't hurt me but I wouldn't let him just like he wouldn't let me take the all of the blame myself so we took the blame together. We have matching scars" James said. Regina looked up at him. "I thought you and David could heal yourselves" Regina asked. James nodded. "We can but my father knows how to make scars last. It would have been worse had mom not have stepped in and stopped him" he said. Regina stared at him sadly. "Enough about me. What about your parents? What are their names" James asked. "My father's name is Henry and he's amazing and my mother's name is Cora. She's the one we have to worry about finding out about us" Regina said. James looked at her sadly. "Regina we can't do this" he said. Regina looked at him confused. "Do what" she asked. "Us. We can't be together" James said. Regina looked hurt. "Why not" she asked. "If my father ever found out he would hurt me or worse you. I won't let that happen" James said.
"My mother would freak out too but I'm willing to take the chance if you are" Regina said. "It's too big of a risk" he said. "I really like you James and I don't want to lose what we have" she said. "I don't want to either but we both know our parents and if they find out" James started but Regina interrupted him by kissing him. "They won't" she said smiling at him. He didn't know what it was about her but she took all the fear away. He believed somehow everything would be OK. He kissed her again this time more passionately. "Regina what are you doing" they heard a voice that interrupted their kissing. They stopped kissing and looked at the source of the voice. It was Regina's father Henry. Regina got up and walked over to Henry. "Daddy this is my friend James" she said. Henry stared at James with a look James couldn't decipher. "Get yourself dressed and follow me. I'll be outside waiting" Henry said. He gave his daughter one last look and walked out of the barn. Regina smiled at him. "I'll give you a minute" Regina said walking out of the barn. James sat there for a moment not believing what happened. Great first impression for her father you idiot James thought to himself as he got dressed and walked out of the barn.
In Storybrooke David and James stood outside the hole waiting for whoever James called to show up. David wanted to go down into the hole after Henry but James wouldn't let him. He just kept telling him they had to wait. What was down there? David wanted to find out but couldn't do anything right now with James standing there. A car pulled up and James ran over. David recognized it as Regina's car. Regina got out of the car. "James" Regina called as James ran up to her and hugged her. "Where's Henry" she asked pulling back from the hug. "He ran down into the hole" James said. Regina looked at him worriedly. "Why would he do something so stupid" Regina asked. James looked at David who walked up to them. "Well apparently Emma takes after her parents more than we thought. She can't keep her moth shut either and told him about the curse" James said. "What" Regina asked glaring at David. "Yea and now apparently he hates us and he's going to find a way to stop us" James said.
"We'll get him back. I promise nothing will happen to Henry" David said. Regina marched over to David and slapped him hard across the face. The shock and sheer force of it whipped David's head to the side. He put a hand up to his cheek rubbing it. "Your promises mean nothing to me. Not after last time" Regina said walking back over to James. "Regina I" David started walking towards her but James stepped in front of him. "Can't you see my wife is emotionally distraught because of your daughter? Tell me David is it your families goal to destroy my families life. First you and your pathetic wife can't keep your mouth's shut and now your daughter had to open her mouth and now our son is in the mines where anything can happen to him. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the big stupid tree" James said. David grabbed James by the collar of his shirt. "Keep talking about Snow and Emma like that and it will be easy for people to tell us apart with your black eye" David said. James pushed David away from him.
"Keep your damn hands off me" James said to David as the twins glared at each other. "What are we going to do" Regina asked. "I already told James I would go down and get him" David said. Regina's head snapped up at David. "Absolutely not. We can save our son ourselves" Regina said. "Actually I called someone to help who Henry will actually listen to" James said to Regina. David was about to tell Regina what Henry said about James having a secret that not even she knew when another car pulled up. "There he is" James said walking over to the car with Regina following. David followed after them and saw Archie step out of the car. Why did James call him? "Mister and Madam Mayor where's Henry" Archie asked. "He ran into that hole and he doesn't want to talk to me or his mother. Henry adores you. He will listen to you" James said. Archie looked at the hole. "You want me to go into that hole" he asked.
"I want you to bring Henry back up here to me and his mother and as my wife explained to you before you are to kill this delusion he has about everyone being a fairytale" James said. Now it made sense to David. James was going to use Archie to try to kill Henry's belief. David wasn't going to let that happen. "Surely there are more qualified people to go down there to get Henry" Archie said. James nodded his head. "There are but we need someone who can deal with Henry. You've been dealing with him for years. You know how his mind works. What we need is someone who can crush his fantasies and bring him back to reality and no one knows him better than you not even us" he said. Archie looked between the couple David and the hole. "Fine I'll go down there and bring him up" he said. James shook his hand. "Thank you Dr. and if our son comes up here with a new attitude you can expect a raise" he said. James tightened his grip and leaned in close to Archie so only he could hear.
"If Henry still has these delusions in his head when he gets back up here well not only will you lose your house and everything but I will personally make sure you can't go anywhere in this town again without being a social pariah" James whispered. He let go of Archie's hand and Archie gulped. He walked away from James and Regina and toward the hole. David followed him. "What did James say to you" he asked. Archie looked back at James. "Mr. Nolan I can't" he said walking farther towards the hole. David grabbed his arm and stopped him. "I can't help you if I don't know what he said to you" David said. Archie looked between David and James. "He told me to kill Henry's delusions or I will never be able to step foot in town again" Archie said. David glared at his brother. "Don't worry I'll deal with that. Just bring Henry back up here" David said. "How" Archie asked. "Just trust me" David said. Archie nodded at him.
Just then Graham pulled up. Him and Emma stepped out of the car. James and Regina marched over to them. "Wait here. I'll be right back" David said running up to Emma. James and Regina got to her first. James grabbed her arm. "Come with me. Since your father never taught you the importance of keeping your mouth shut I will" he said dragging Emma behind him. Emma punched him in the face hard and James fell to the ground. "My father may not have taught me to keep my mouth shut but he taught me how to deal douchebags like you" Emma said. Regina walked up to Emma and got in her face. "You little bitch" she said raising a fist to punch Emma but Graham caught it. "Leave Emma alone this isn't her fault" he said. Regina stared at him in shock. "Your defending this little harlot" Regina said as David reached Emma. "Shut your mouth about Emma" Graham said. James stood up and walked over to Regina and Graham. "Let go of my wife now sheriff" James demanded. Graham let go of her.
"Now sheriff arrest this delinquent right now" James said. David stood in front of Emma. "Nobody's arresting anybody" David said. "If my brother tries to stop you take his badge from him and arrest him too" James said. David and Emma looked at Graham. Graham looked at David and Emma. He didn't know why but something told him this wasn't right. He turned to James and Regina. "No" he said. They stared at him in shock. "Excuse me" Regina said. "I said no. I'm not arresting Emma or David" he said. "I'll have your badge for this" James said. "Go ahead. I'm done doing your dirty work" Graham said walking over to David and Emma. "Are you OK" he asked Emma placing his hand on her arm and started rubbing her arm forgetting they were trying to hide their relationship from David. Emma nodded and smiled at him and Graham smiled back. David saw this interaction and knew what that meant. Emma looked at her father then turned to Graham. "Can you give us a second" Emma asked Graham.
"Sure" Graham said walking away. David waited until Graham was out of earshot. "So what happened with Henry" he asked. "He came to the house upset. He thought Uncle James and Aunt Regina were lying to him. I felt bad and I showed him the book and used the memory rock on him. Now he has all of his memories. He ran off after he woke up and we've been looking for him ever since" Emma said looking around. "Where is he" she asked. "He ran into the hole. He's somewhere in the mines I was going to go get him but James and Regina won't let me. They don't want me to find whatever's hidden down there" David said. Emma looked at him shocked. "So there just going to leave him down there" she asked. David shook his head. "They're sending Archie down there. Apparently Henry will listen to him and they want him to get Henry to stop believing about the curse" he said. "It's too late for that" Emma said.
"Yea it is" David said agreeing with Emma. He was going to walk away when Emma grabbed his arm stopping him. "Dad I think we need to talk about me and Graham" Emma said. "About how you guys are a couple" David asked. Emma stared at her father in shock. "How did you know" she asked. "Come on Emma. It's really obvious. People can see your googly eyes you give each other from outside the town. You guys are not very good at hiding it" David said. Emma smiled. "Good so now that your OK with it" Emma started but David shook his head interrupting her. "I never said I was OK with it. It's the exact opposite actually. You two aren't going to see each other anymore" David said. Emma was taken aback. "What" she asked. "You and Graham are ending whatever you have going on" David said. "No you don't get to control who I see" Emma said. "As long as you live under my roof I do" David said. Emma thought for a moment and looked at Graham.
"Then I'll move out and move in with Graham" Emma said. David shook his head. "No you won't especially not move in with him" he said. "Dad please" Emma started but David interrupted. "No Emma now that is the end of the conversation. You are not to see Graham anymore. I forbid it" David said louder than he intended. He thought that was the end of the conversation but then Emma said something that broke his heart. "I wish you were the one who was cursed instead of mom. At least she wouldn't have stood in my way with every relationship I ever had" Emma said. David saw tears forming in her eyes. He hated seeing her cry especially when he was the cause of them. He felt horrible. He walked over to her. "I'm sorry princess" he said trying to hug her but she moved away from him. "Don't talk to me" she said running down to Archie who was standing by the hole. David went to follow her but Graham stopped him.
"She just needs some time" Graham said holding David back. David glared at Graham. "Get off me" he said pushing Graham's arms off him. "I wanted to tell you but Emma said we should keep it a secret. Know I see why" he said. David was fuming. This man was doing god knows what with his baby girl and he was just supposed to be OK with that. "I need you to call it off" David said. "What" Graham asked shocked. "Call it off with Emma. She's a child and you're an adult. Last time I checked that's considered pedophilia which is against the law. You're a disgrace to that badge" David yelled. Now Graham was getting mad. "Last time I checked Emma is 18 which technically makes her an adult which means she can make her own decisions and we are going to be together no matter what you say or do so grow up and get over it" Graham yelled back. David was pissed now. He walked up to Graham so that they were face to face.
Before David could say or do anything the ground started to shake. Over by the hole Archie looked in the hole. "Henry" he called out. There was no answer. Archie went deeper into the hole. "Archie" Emma called out after Archie following him. David and Graham saw this. "Emma" they both yelled out at the same time and ran down to the hole. "Henry, it's not safe" Archie called out. "Henry come out" Emma called out. "Henry" Archie called out but again there was no answer. Him and Emma went deeper into the hole. Just as David and Graham reached the hole rocks fell covering the entrance. "Emma" both David and Graham called out. There was no answer. The two men looked at each other both worried about the woman they both loved. In the mines Emma and Archie picked themselves off the floor. Emma walked over to Archie. "Are you OK" she asked. "Yea I'm fine. We got to find Henry" he said. Emma nodded in agreement.
"First we could use some sort of light down here" Emma said. Archie lit a match. Emma smiled. "That's better" she said. Archie picked up his umbrella and him and Emma started moving deeper into the mines. "Henry" Archie called out. There was no answer. "Henry" Emma tried and to their surprise Henry came running out. "Archie, Emma, You guys are here to help me. I knew could count on the two of you" he said. "Henry" Archie said as Henry shined his flashlight in Archie and Emma's faces which caused Archie to drop the match. "Henry, listen, we gotta get out of here, OK" Emma said. Henry looked hurt. "So you're not here to help me. I thought we were going to stop my parents from destroying the people in this towns lives" Henry said. Archie looked at Emma curiously. Emma thought quickly about what to say. "Henry, there's no time for that. We got to save ourselves" Emma said. "Come on, Henry, come on" Archie said. Henry shook his head and looked at Emma.
"No I have to help you and Uncle David break the curse. The answers down here. You'll see" Henry said running away from them. "Henry" Archie called out. "Henry, Henry, come back" Emma yelled. Henry just continued running deeper into the mines. Emma and Archie looked behind them at the entrance that was now covered. Emma knew her father and Graham were probably worried about her but right now she would rather be down here than up there with her father. Her and Graham could figure this whole thing out with them when she got back up to the surface with Henry. "Henry" both Emma and Archie yelled as they followed Henry deeper into the mines.
