In the enchanted forest late at night Regina sat by the tree that her and James referred to as their tree waiting for him. Her mother was being impossible about all of this crap about how power is the most important thing and love is weakness. She didn't believe that. She loved James and they were going to be together and make their relationship work. She didn't doubt that. It was difficult with their parents particularly her mother and his father but they would figure that out. Regina stood up as she saw a dragon flying in the sky. It landed in front of her and morphed into the man she loved. James smiled at her. "Sorry it took me so long. I just had to sneak out without my father knowing. David's going to cover for me" he said. Regina shook her head. "That's fine. I only got here like ten minutes ago myself. My mother was being impossible today" she said. James walked up to Regina and hugged her. "Don't worry we'll figure this out" he said.
"I know we will it's just hard. You turn 18 in about a week and even then we still have to wait" Regina said. James nodded his head. "I have to be sure your mother or my father can't hurt us. Besides I have to get my mother and David away from my father so he doesn't go after them. This all takes time" he said. Regina looked at him sadly. He put a finger under her chin and moved her face to look at him. "We're going to be together. We're going to have that house we talked about by the ocean with our two kids. We just have to make sure we don't screw this up. My father is a very vengeful man" James said. Regina nodded. "I know. I just miss you. I hate sneaking around and not actually being able to be together" she said. James kissed her. "It won't be like this forever. We will get our happy ending. I promise" he said. Regina believed he was right. They would be together some how some way. She didn't know how but she knew James was right. They would get their happy ending. They just had to fight for it.
In Storybrooke David laid on the bed in his jail cell. How could he be so stupid? Of course James and Regina had cameras in their house and of course he'd get caught breaking in. He had no idea how Regina's ring got in his pocket but he knew James had something to do with it. He needed to convince Graham to let him go and that he wasn't the enemy but how? "This looks familiar" David heard James say from across the station. "I remember back home me and Regina having you locked up and you almost getting beheaded. I miss beheadings. It's something this land is missing" James said walking up to David's cell. David rolled his eyes and stood up. "What are you doing here James? You already got me locked up what more do you want" David asked. James shook his head. "This time it wasn't me. You did this all yourself by breaking into my house" he said. "You planted Regina's ring on me" David said. James nodded. "That I did" he said.
"I have nothing to say to you" David said going back to his bed and sitting down on it. James looked at his brother seriously. "I want what you actually stole from me and Regina. Give me the rocks and I'll make sure you go free" he said. David laughed. "So that's what you want. The memory rocks which you used on Henry and" David said. James shook his head. "That's my business. Now where are the rocks" he asked. David got up and walked to the bars. "Screw you" he said to his brother. They both stared each other down. "You might want to cooperate David. I'd hate for something to happen to Emma while she's in the hospital. Accidents happen all the time" James threatened David. David continued glaring at his brother. "Your not going to do anything to Emma" David said. James laughed. "I wouldn't be so sure" he said. David smiled. "I would. My guess is you want the rocks back so you could use one of them on Henry which means you and Regina must still be on the outs with him" David said.
"So" James said annoyed. "So if you hurt Emma or me for that matter Henry won't forgive you and as long as you don't have those rocks to use on him you and Regina will continue to be in the doghouse with him" David said. James just continued to glare at David. "Just tell me where the rocks are" he said. David shook his head. "Like I said before screw you" he said. James sighed. "Fine I'll find them myself" he said turning to leave. "Good luck. Me and Emma have them hidden where you will never find them" David said. James turned around and was about to say something when Graham entered the station. "Mr. Mayor what are you doing here" Graham asked. James turned his attention to Graham. "Just came to find out why my idiot brother here would steal Regina's ring" James answered. David rolled his eyes. "That's what I plan to find out" Graham said. James nodded. "See that you do Sheriff" James said. He gave David one last look before he left the station.
Once James was gone Graham moved David into the interrogation room and handcuffed him to the table. David had been in his fair share of interrogation rooms but always on the other side of the table and always the one asking the questions. "So why don't you tell me why you broke into the mayor's house and stole Regina's ring" Graham asked. David rolled his eyes. "I already told you I didn't take Regina's ring. I was set up" David said. Graham looked at David skeptically. "Let me guess by your brother and his wife" he said. David nodded his head. "Exactly. You know they don't like me. This is just a way to make sure they punish me" David said. Graham sat there for a moment thinking. "What happened between you and your brother" he asked. David shook his head. "It's a long story and one I'm not interested in talking about right now" he said. "Fine. Your fingerprints are all over the ring. How do you explain that" Graham asked.
"James and Regina are very good at what they do. They obviously planted my fingerprints on it" David said. Graham looked at David frustrated. "Since your not going to answer my question about the ring let's try another question. Why did you break into your brother's house" Graham asked. "I was looking for something" David said. "What" Graham asked. David shook his head. "I can't say" he said. He wished he could tell Graham all about the curse but unfortunately he couldn't trust him. Graham was getting mad now. "Come on David. I'm trying to help you here but I can't help you if you won't answer any of my questions" Graham said. David looked at Graham apoligettically. "I'm sorry Graham but I can't tell you" David said. Graham let out a long frustrated sigh. "Then your wasting my time. I'm sorry David I can't help you" Graham said getting up. David thought for a moment. There was no way he was going to get out of this without telling Graham the truth. Maybe that was a chance he had to take.
Graham started walking toward the door. "Wait" David called. Graham turned around and looked at David. "I'll tell you everything but you have to promise to sit there and listen. It's a crazy story but it's true" David said. Finally David was willing to talk. Graham walked back to his seat and sat down. "Start talking" Graham said. David took a deep breath. "This is going to sound crazy and you probably won't believe what I'm telling you but trust me everything I'm about to tell you is true" David said. Graham just sat there ready to listen. "We're not from around here any of us. We are all from a place called the enchanted forest and all the stories you know are true" David said. Graham sat there emotionless listening. "Back home everyone is a different person. They don't remember who they are because James and Regina cast a curse that sent everyone here with no memories of who they actually are" David said.
"James and Regina are the evil king and queen. You were their huntsman. Katherine is not actually my wife. Mary Margret is. She's actually Snow White and I am Prince Charming back in the enchanted forest. James and Regina hate us because we destroyed their lives. They wanted to hurt us which is why they cast the curse. Emma is mine and Snow's daughter and also the savior. Me and Emma were able to escape the curse. She is meant to break the curse. That's why were here and that's why James and Regina don't want us here. There scared their curse will be broken which is what Emma is going to do" David said. He looked at Graham who just sat there. After what felt like forever he stood up. "I tried to help you David. I wish you were honest with me" Graham said starting to walk away. "I can prove I'm telling the truth" David said. Graham just stood there. "We have to go to my house. I can show you something that will prove I'm not lying" David said.
After thinking about it for a moment Graham brought David to the sheriff car and put him in the backseat still handcuffed. Graham drove in silence not really sure why he was humoring David. He wished David trusted him and would tell him what was actually going on. Maybe everything James and Regina said about him was true. They arrived at David's house and Graham parked the car got out pulled David out of the car and walked him to the front door. Graham opened the door and him and David walked in. "We have to go up to Emma's room" David said. Graham walked David up to Emma's room. "It's in her closet behind the clothes" David said. Graham walked over to Emma's closet and pulled out a box. He opened it and saw a book in it called "Once upon a Time". Graham took it out and looked at David. "Look through it. You'll see I'm telling the truth" David said. Graham flipped through the book and was shocked by what he saw.
Everyone in the book looked like someone who was in Storybrooke. He continued flipping and stopped at a page and was shocked by what he saw. It was a picture of David and a woman who looked like Mary Margret but with long hair smiling at each other. They were dressed in weird clothes. He looked up at David. "Like I said Mary Margret is actually Snow White and my wife and Emma's mother" David said. Graham was in shock. He couldn't believe David was actually telling the truth. He flipped the page and saw a picture of James and Regina. James was holding a human heart in his hand while Regina was laughing. They were also in weird clothes. He turned the page and was most shocked by the picture he saw. It was of him bowing to James and Regina looking like he was in pain. He was also wearing weird clothes. Just then a flashback hit him. It was of him standing in front of James and Regina looking like he was in pain. Another flash hit him of him holding a knife above Mary Margret.
The flash's stopped and he looked at David. "You were telling the truth" Graham said. David nodded. "I wish I wasn't" he said. Graham went over and uncuffed David. David rubbed his wrists. "How do we break this curse" Graham asked. David shrugged his shoulders. "We don't know yet. That's what me and Emma are trying to figure out" he said. "What do we do about James and Regina" Graham asked. "We just keep fighting against them and making sure they don't hurt anyone" David said. Graham looked away from David confused. "What's wrong" David asked seeing something was wrong with Graham. "I don't know. Sometimes it feels like I can't refuse what James and Regina tell me to do even if I don't want to do it and I know it's wrong" Graham said. "I'll be right back" David said leaving the room. He came back a few seconds later holding a rock. "This is called a memory rock. It's used to change people's memories and get them to believe what the user wants them too" David said.
"You think James and Regina used that on me" Graham asked. David nodded. "They were using one on Henry so he never found out about the curse Emma used it on him to give him his memories back. I think they might have used this on you to get you to believe and do what they wanted you to. If you trust me I can give you back the memories they stole from you" David said. Graham nodded. David walked up to Graham and held the rock to his head. It did nothing. It didn't glow or anything. "That's weird" David said. "What is" Graham asked. "If these rocks have been used on someone they normally glow to show they are bonded with that person. It's not doing that which means they didn't use this on you" David said. Graham looked at David confused. "How are they controlling me then" he asked. "I don't know" David said. He took the book from Graham. "Maybe the answer is in here" David said. David turned the page and found the answer he was looking for.
David explained all about how you can control someone by using their heart to Graham while they were on their way to the hospital. Graham listened intently taking all of the information in. David was sure that was how James and Regina had been able to control Graham. He just had to find where they were keeping the heart. They arrived at the hospital and the nurse working at the front told them where Emma's room was. She was aloud to have visitors now. David and Graham walked into the room together. Emma smiled when she saw them. "Well you two haven't killed each other yet. That's a good sign" she said. David looked down at the ground ashamed of how he had acted. "Emma Graham I wanted to apologize to the two of you. I was wrong and I hope you guys can forgive me" he said. Emma nodded her head. "Of course I forgive you" she said. Graham patted David on the shoulder. "Yea all is forgiven especially since you told me everything" he said.
"You did what" Emma asked looking at her father shocked. "I had no choice. I had to tell him. He's going to help us figure out how to break the curse" David said. Emma looked at Graham. "You are" she asked. Graham nodded. "Yea I am. What James and Regina did is wrong and I want to help you guys stop them. They don't know that I know" he said. "Well that's good. We could use all the help we can get" Emma said. "There's something else" David said. "What" Emma asked. "I think I know how Graham is being controlled by them" David said. "How" Emma asked. "He thinks they have my heart" Graham said. Emma looked at her father who just nodded in agreement. Just then Graham's phone rang. He looked at the caller id and saw that it was James calling. "It's your brother" Graham said to David. "Answer it. We can't let him think anything is different now" David said. Graham nodded and left the room to take the call.
"Dad I wanted to apologize to you too" Emma said. David looked at her confused. "For what" David asked. "While we were down inn the mines Archie helped me see that I might have been a little too hard on you and you only freaked out about me and Graham because your scared you might lose me forever" she said. David nodded. "Your not a little kid anymore. You're a woman who can make your own decisions and that scares me. It's not too long until you meet someone and have a family of your own and you won't need me anymore. The truth is Emma I am going to lose you someday" David said. Emma shook her head. "Dad it's always been just you and me. If I was sick or hurt or just needed someone to talk to you've always been there for me. You're the most important person in my life and the one man in my life I could always count on to be there for me no matter what was wrong. Dad your never going to lose me. I'm always going to need my hero in my life no matter how old I get" she said.
David walked over and hugged Emma. "Dad I know you blame yourself for what happened between you Uncle James and Aunt Regina but it's not your fault" Emma said. David pulled away from Emma. "You don't know what happened. If you did I don't think you would say I was your hero. You'd be ashamed" David said. Emma shook her head. "You're right dad I don't know what happened but I know whatever happened grandpa manipulated you. It wasn't your fault" she said. David shook his head. "You don't understand" he said. "No I don't but I know someday your going to need to talk about it to someone and when that day comes I'll be there dad. When your ready I'll be there to listen" she said. David smiled at her but then a thought popped into his head. "Emma why did you say your grandfather manipulated me? How could you possibly know that he was involved" David asked. Emma smiled at her father. "Grandma told me. Dad she's alive" she said.
"That's not possible. James said he killed her" David said. Emma shook her head. "He lied like normal. She's trapped down in the mines" Emma said. David still didn't believe it. "Emma you hit your head pretty hard. Maybe you thought you saw her" he said. "No I know I saw her and I saw something else too. It's on my phone" Emma said pointing to the table her phone was on. David picked up the phone. "I took a picture of it" Emma said. David looked at the pictures on Emma's phone and found the one he was looking for. He stared at it in surprise. "That's" David started to say. "Mom's coffin" Emma finished for him. David continued staring at the photo in disbelief. "Grandma's trapped down there. Uncle James didn't kill her. He keeps her down there because he doesn't want Aunt Regina to know she's alive" Emma said. David looked at Emma. "That must be what Henry meant when he said James had a secret he was keeping from Regina" David said. Emma nodded.
That night David and Graham drove to the hole David went down to save Emma Archie and Henry. David was getting the harness attached to his waist. "Are you sure you want to do this" Graham asked. David nodded. "I have to know if my mother is really alive" David said. Graham nodded. "I understand. I'll be up here all you have to do is pull the rope and I'll pull you back up" Graham said. "Thanks" David said. He looked at Graham seriously. "Treat her right. Don't hurt her" David said. Graham looked at David confused. "Emma. All I ask is that you treat her right and don't hurt her" David said. Graham smiled at David's acceptance of his relationship with Emma. "I promise" he said. David nodded at him grabbed a flashlight and lowered himself down into the hole. Regina had driven to the entrance of the mines. Everything was falling apart now that David and Emma were here. Henry wasn't talking to her or James, Graham was questioning hers and James's orders and people like Archie were getting brave. This wasn't good. They had to come up with a plan to stop them.
Regina got out of her car and walked into the woods. She continued to walk until she found what she was looking for. She moved leaves away from the floor to reveal a secret grate. Only her and James knew this existed. She looked down the grate. Stairs led down into the mines. Her and James probably could have told David about this entryway into the mines and then he wouldn't of had to propel down but this led to a part of the mines he couldn't know about. The part of the mines where Snow's coffin is. Regina took the glass shard out of her pocket and looked at it. She threw it down the grate and watched as it fell down the stairs and disappeared into the darkness. It fell to the floor making aloud clank. David had just arrived at this part of the mines. He took out his gun when he heard the clank and shined his flashlight in the area where the clank came from. "Who's there" he asked pointing his flashlight and gun in the area the noise came from.
When he decided there was nothing there he shined the flashlight around the mines. He stopped when he saw the coffin. He walked over to it. He hadn't seen it in years since he woke Snow up from the sleeping curse. David heard footsteps behind him and turned around quickly. "Don't move" he yelled to the person. He shined his flashlight at the person and stared in shock. "Mom" he said hoping this wasn't a dream. Maleficent looked at him for a moment before she realized who it was. "David" she said in disbelief. David ran to her and hugged her not believing this was real. "Mom is it really you" he asked not letting go of her scared if he let go of her she would disappear and he would wake up. "Yes it's really me" Maleficent said crying. David was crying too. They both missed each other so much. Maleficent pulled back and held his face in her hands. "Let me look at you" she said. It was really him after all this time her son came back to her. "Mom I missed you so much" David said. Maleficent smiled at him through her tears. "I missed you too" she said. Maleficent took David's hand and brought him to sit down with her. "We have so much to catch up on" Maleficent said. They talked all night catching up. David was so happy to be reunited with his mother and he wasn't going to let anything or anyone separate them again even James.
