David walked across the street to Mary Margaret and watched her trying to hang a birdhouse. "Did you not get the invite" David asked. Mary looked up and saw David standing on the other side of the fence. "David" Mary said smiling at him. She looked down at the birdhouse in her hand awkwardly. "Here let me help" David said climbing over the fence and taking the birdhouse from her. He helped her off the ladder she was standing on and stepped up it himself. Mary watched as David hung the birdhouse. "So have you thought about what I told to you? About you and me" he asked. Mary looked away from him as he climbed down the ladder and walked over to her. "I meant it. I love you. We're meant to be together. Come on. I know you feel the same" he said. Mary shook her head. "We can't be together. You're married. You shouldn't love me" Mary said. Now David shook his head. "What should be is us together and you me and Emma a family" he said.
"What about Kathryn" Mary asked. David stepped closer to her. "I told you my marriage to Kathryn is a sham. I'm not the one for her. I don't choose her. I choose you" David said stroking Mary's cheek. Mary closed her eyes and allowed herself to get lost in his touch. "You feel the same way. I know you do" David said. Mary opened her eyes and came back to reality. They couldn't be together. David's married and she wasn't going to be responsible for breaking that up. It wasn't fair to them or Kathryn. Mary stepped back from David. "I know that you think you love me, but you don't. You have a wife who loves you and who you should love. Why don't we leave it at that" Mary said walking away from him. David watched her leave. He had to figure out this situation with Kathryn. He couldn't stay with her. He didn't love her and could never love her the way she deserved to be loved. His true love just walked away from him and told him they couldn't be together. He was going to fix this. He had to.
In the enchanted forest James flew into the courtyard of his parents castle and morphed back into his human form. He had just come back from seeing Regina. In a couple weeks he would be 18 and then he wouldn't have to worry about his father ruining his relationship with Regina or hurting David or his mother. He was going to get them away from his father and get Regina away from her mother then they would be able to be together and start a life away from their toxic parents. James never believed in love until he met Regina. He figured he'd just be married off to someone from another kingdom that his parents chose for him. David always told him that they shouldn't settle for anything less then true love. He was right. James couldn't wait to introduce David and Regina to each other. His best friend and his true love meeting for the first time. James smiled just thinking about it. James walked into the castle and stopped when he saw the entryway.
Ames looked around and saw that the entryway was in shambles. Statues were on the floor smashed. Tapestries that his parents had hanging were ripped in half and there was even blood on the floor. "David, Mom, Dad" James called out. No one answered. James started walking down the entryway when one of the servants came running into the room. The servant Christopher looked scared. James stopped him. "Christopher what happened here" James asked. Christopher bowed. "Your highness people are attacking the castle. I'm trying to get to safety. All of the other servants have left" he said. "Where's my brother and my parents" James asked. "The lord of darkness and mistress of evil are away right now and the prince is trying to stop them" Christopher answered. "By himself" James said. Christopher nodded. "I tried to tell him to hide and wait for you or your parents to come back but he refused. He said he could handle it himself. They have weapons that could kill dragons" he said. James ran further into the castle.
James arrived at the room where David was fighting with one of the intruders. The intruders did indeed have weapons that could kill them. James saw there were only 6 intruders and David had killed 5 of them. This guy was the last one left. They were in the middle of a swordfight. "I'm going to rid the world of your kind you half breed filth" the man said to David. "Back down. It didn't go well for your friends" David said as their swords clanked together. The man smiled. "Well I came prepared" he said as he pushed David away and pulled out a sphere. "Last chance where is your brother and your mother" the man asked. David shook his head. "I already told you I would die before I told you where they were" David said. The man smiled a devilish smile. "That can be arranged" he said holding up the sphere and saying some words into it. All of a sudden ropes wrapped around David and he was pinned to the wall. David struggled as the man walked up to him laughing.
"Your head will be a great trophy to bring home with me" the man said as he raised his sword. Before he could strike he was stabbed from behind. The man fell to the floor as James stood behind him having stabbed him. He walked up to David and used his fire breath to burn the ropes around David. David fell to the floor. James helped him up. "Thanks" David said. "Of course what are older brothers for" James asked. David rolled his eyes. "We should get rid of these bodies before mom and dad get home" James said. David nodded. "Also we should clean the castle and get the servants back. Dad won't if the servants aren't here when he gets back" he said. "OK you get the servants back and I'll" James started but was interrupted when he was stabbed in the back. He fell to the floor. "No James" David yelled. The man they thought James killed looked at David and smiled. "You guys really should have checked to make sure I was actually dead" the man said. David just glared at him. His eyes glowed yellow and he blew fire at the man burning him alive.
He kneeled down to James's body. "James" he called. James was unconscious and wasn't answering. Why wasn't he healing himself? David started to freak out. "James this isn't funny. You can wake up now" David said. Once again no response. David shook James. "James wake up" David cried out. There was no response. David sat there with his unresponsive brother trying to wake him up. Nothing worked. James had to be OK. David didn't know what he would do without him.
