In the enchanted forest David paced around. He looked at James who was sleeping. How could he just stand here while his brother was dying? He knew what his parents said but David couldn't just stand there and do nothing. "Screw it" he said to himself. He walked out onto the balcony and tried to turn into his dragon form but it didn't work. "What the hell" he asked. He tried again and once again it didn't work. David walked back inside. He saw one of the servants Michael walk by. "Michael" he called out running up to him. "Your highness" Michael said bowing. "I was wondering if you had any idea what's going on. I can't transform into my dragon form" David said. Michael looked inside James's room. "With all due respect your highness didn't your father tell you to watch after Prince James" Michael asked. "James is fine he's asleep. I just needed some air" David said. "I don't want to get involved but I think I overheard your father say something about a power dampening spell" Michael said.
Mephisto was in an important meeting with kings, queens and sorcerers from different kingdoms when David barged into the throne room. "What the hell is wrong with you" David yelled at his father. Mephisto rolled his eyes. "You'll have to excuse my son. Apparently he forgot his manners" he said to his guests. David marched past the guests and up to his father. "Why the hell would you put a power dampening spell on me" he asked ignoring the whispers from the guests around him. "David I am in the middle of something very important" Mephisto said. Now David rolled his eyes. "What like letting your son die" he asked. They just glared at each other. Father and son who could never see eye to eye. Mephisto turned to his guests. "If you'll excuse me I need to have a conversation with my son about what's appropriate behavior in front of guests" Mephisto said. Everyone nodded their head and left the room closing the door behind them.
"What do you think you are doing? Those are important guests" Mephisto asked. "Why did you put a power dampening spell on me" David asked. "You don't know how to listen. I knew you would try to leave this castle when I specifically told you not to" Mephisto said getting up from his throne and walking over to a table. "I wanted some air" David lied. Mephisto scoffed as he poured himself a glass of wine. "Don't lie to me David. You were going to try to go to King Midas to get a cure for your brother" Mephisto said. "Well it beats sitting around here drinking and kissing other rulers asses" David said. Mephisto took a sip of his wine. "What are you doing to save James" David asked. "Don't worry about it. Just go back and look after your brother. You can't mess that up. Oh wait you already are by talking to me instead of doing as you were told" Mephisto said. "James is asleep right now. Maybe you should get off your ass and try being a father for once in your life" David yelled at his father.
"Who do you think you are talking to" Mephisto yelled. Before David could answer Mephisto held out his hand and magically started choking David. David gasped for air. Mephisto walked up to his choking son. "You need to learn respect David. You've had it way to easy thanks to your mother. I guess that's my fault. I should have taught you where your place was a long time ago. You are lower than dirt. A good for nothing brat who's been babied his whole life. You're a disgrace to this family and it's time I took care of you like I should have a long time ago" Mephisto said. He squeezed his hand and David started choking even more. He couldn't breathe. His father was cutting off his air supply and he could feel himself losing consciousness. "Mephisto what on earth are you doing" Maleficent yelled from across the room. "Teaching our son a lesson" Mephisto responded. "Let him go now" Maleficent said. Mephisto looked at his son gasping for air and let him go. David fell to the floor coughing.
"I think I made my point" Mephisto said walking back to his throne and sitting down. Maleficent ran over to David helping him up. "Are you OK" she asked. "This is why he is the way he is. Your too soft on him Maleficent. He needs to toughen up and you need to stop babying him" Mephisto said. Maleficent saw that David was about to say something back and gave him a stern look. "David go back to your brother and give him this. It will help with the pain until we get a cure" Maleficent said holding up a potion. David shook his head. "Mom I want" he started to say but Maleficent interrupted him. "David just go. No arguments" she said in a tone David knew meant his mother was serious. He took the potion from his mother and started stomping out of the room. "Yes do something to make yourself useful" Mephisto called out to him. It took everything in David not to turn around and tell off his father. Instead he just kept walking and left the room.
When he made it to James's room he found him on the floor. "James" David yelled running into the room and helping James back into bed. "No I have to leave" James yelled out. David shook his head. "Your not going anywhere. You can't walk properly" he said. "I'm fine" James said sitting up. The room started to spin for James and he leaned over and threw up on David. "Great. That's just perfect" David said. "Sorry bro" James said laying back down. David shook his head. "It's fine. Mom gave me this potion. She said it would help with the pain" David said. He took the cap off the veil and James started to drink it. James looked at David. "David I need you to promise me something" he said. David nodded his head. "Anything" he said. "You're my brother and my best friend in the entire world so what I'm going to tell you needs to stay between us two. You can't tell anyone not even mom or dad especially not dad" James said. David let out a sarcastic laugh.
"You don't need to worry. The sooner I never see or talk to dad again the better" he said. "You can't tell mom either" James said. "James what is it" David asked. James shook his head. "Promise me you won't tell mom" he said. David looked at James closely and could see how important this was to him. He nodded his head. "I promise I won't tell mom" he said. "Thank you. You're a great brother. David I met…" James started but was interrupted by a laugh coming from the corner of the room. They both looked over to the corner of the room and saw a man who had scaly skin smiling at them. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything" the man said smiling mischievously at the two princes.
