In Storybrooke, Mary Margaret was sitting in Granny's reading the newspaper when Regina sat down across from her. "Ms. Blanchard, may I have a word" Regina asked. "Of course" she said. "I wanted to talk to you about my friend, Kathryn but more specifically, I wanted to talk to you about her husband, David" Regina said. "He's not yours. He's taken. Find somebody else" Regina said. "I haven't done anything" Mary said. "Really? So he just up and left his wife on a whim" Regina asked. Mary was surprised to hear this. "He did what" Mary asked. "You don't know" Regina said. Mary shook her head. "Well, I suspect you soon will. Listen carefully, dear, because it is in your best interest. Stay away. His and Kathryn's marriage is in a fragile state right now. He doesn't need you around him throwing yourself at him. You're close to wrecking multiple lives. So before you do something that can't be undone, do not get in the way of their marriage. This is a warning" Regina said getting up and leaving. Mary sat there trying to process all the information she just got.
In the enchanted forest, David was getting ready with King Midas's army. He was easily able to convince King Midas he could help him slay this beast. The King was desperate after all. "There he is. Our savior" King Midas said walking up to David. "The man who is going to tear the dragon limb from limb" King Midas said. David looked at him shocked. "I'm sorry your majesty but I thought I just heard you say the beast was a dragon" he said. King Midas nodded his head. "That dragon has been terrorizing my kingdom for years" Midas said. David realized James was right and Rumpelstiltskin had played him. He couldn't just go around killing other dragons. "That stupid imp" David said under his breath. "What was that" King Midas asked. "Nothing" David said. "You do this and you'll be a legend" Midas said. David nodded. He wasn't so sure about this anymore. King Midas walked away from him. What was he going to do?
David was getting ready to leave when one of the guards walked up to him. "So you're the hero who's going to save our kingdom" the guard said. David nodded. "Looks like it" he said. "Well I just wanted to say thank you. My name is Hector" Hector said holding out his hand for David to shake. "David" David said shaking his hand. "Have you ever fought a dragon before? Do you know how to kill one" David asked. Hector shook his head. "Yes I've killed tons of dragons. All it takes is a good swipe of the sword. Have you ever killed a dragon" Hector asked David. David thought for a moment. "Yes plenty" David lied. "Add this one to the list. We'll lead you to the cave and you can take care of the rest. All you have to do is get the King the head of the dragon and you will get your reward. Be the hero and slay this dragon. Let's rid this earth of all of them" Hector said. Hector took out his sword waiting for David to do the same. David did and Hector clinked their swords together cheering. This was a mistake.
David and the King's men walked up the mountain to the dragon's cave. While they were walking David saw shield's bows and arrows on the found next to men who had been burned alive. Why would this dragon do this? David had never met another dragon besides for his mother or David but his parents had always told him humans were the evil ones. They villainized dragons into these monsters. Maybe they weren't right after all. There was a burned wagon right outside the cave. "The dragon's lair is through there" the lead guard said. David nodded. "Stay here. I'll be back" David said. "Good luck" the lead guard said. David took out his sword and walked into the cave. Once he got into the cave and out of sight he put away his sword. He wasn't killing a dragon. David walked around the cave slowly looking for this dragon. David stopped walking and closed his eyes. His dragon senses were telling him the dragon was right behind him.
He turned around and the dragon glared down at him opened his wings and roared. David could tell it was getting ready to blow fire at him. "Wait no I'm" David said as the dragon blew fire at him. Out of the fire David emerged in his dragon form. The dragon stopped blowing fire at him and stared at him in shock. This human was a dragon too. David and the dragon stared at each other for a moment. Maybe David could get through this dragon. David saw the dragon soften a little. He walked over to the dragon and gave it a nod. The dragon just stared at David. Then before David knew what happened it took a huge bite out of David's neck. David roared out with a roar that shook the whole cave and the ground outside. The dragon flew out of the cave. David would have flew after it but he couldn't be exposed. He turned back into his human form and grabbed his neck. Blood was all over his gloved hand. David shook his head. It would heal. He had to stop this dragon before it hurt anyone.
He took out his sword and ran out of the cave. He saw the dragon going for the guards. He made sure no one was looking and waved his hands. The guards disappeared. The dragon turned to look at David. It was angry now. "It's just you and me now" David said as he transformed back into his dragon form. He didn't want to kill the dragon but he wasn't going to let it hurt other people either. The dragon looked toward the kingdom and started to fly towards it. David flew as fast as he could and caught up with the dragon. He bit the dragon's wings. The dragon roared as it fell to the floor. David flew down and landed in front of the injured dragon. He transformed back into his human form. He waved his hand and ropes formed around the dragon. He walked up to the dragon. "I'm sorry but I can't let you hurt anyone else" he said. David turned away from the dragon and conjured a dragon head. He smiled and picked it up. "This should be sufficient enough" he said turning around.
When he turned around the dragon surprised him and smacked him sending him flying into the wall which he hit hard. The dragon head flew out of his hand and down the mountain. The dragon started walking over to David who was just getting up. His head was killing him but he had a bigger issue right now. The dragon who was trying to kill him. He went to take his sword out of his scabbard and realized it wasn't there. He looked over and saw it on the floor about 15 feet away. David ran towards it. The dragon followed chasing after him. David was about to grab it when the dragon blew fire at it destroying the sword. David turned around and saw the dragon still coming after him. He started running. He really didn't want to kill the dragon but it was leaving him no choice. If he left the dragon alive eventually it's wings would heal and it would just go back after the kingdom again. He couldn't let that happen.
David picked up a sword that was on the floor as he ran. He stopped, turned around and faced the dragon. He waved his hands and ropes once again formed around the dragon but this time David made sure they were enchanted where only he could release the dragon. The dragon struggled against the ropes and roared. David walked over to the dragon. "I'm sorry it has to come to this but I can't let you live and kill anybody else. I wish it could be different" he said as he raised the sword. With a tear in his eye he brought the sword down chopping the dragon's head off. He leaned down and looked at the dragon's head. "I'm sorry" David said to the dead dragon tears now freely falling. He just killed a dragon. One of his own. It broke David's heart but it left him no choice. He still felt horrible. Maybe the world wasn't as black and white as he thought and his parents were wrong. Maybe all humans weren't the villains. Some creatures like dragons could be to. This dragon died not only so that David could save Midas's kingdom but also so that he could save James and that was exactly what he was going to do.
