In the enchanted forest, David stood in front of King Midas with the dragon head on the table turned to gold. "I've done it. I killed the dragon you asked me to. The dragon will no longer be a threat to your kingdom" David said. King Midas looked at his guards. "Bring it to my trophy room. Put it between the Chimera and the Mapinguari" King Midas said. David watched as the guards took the head away. He turned to King Midas. "Your highness, I've done as you asked. Now for the reward" David said. King Midas waved him off and laughed. "All in due time my boy" he said. "From this day forth, may that beast's head be a reminder to us of the valiant warrior who killed it. The bravest, most noble man I have ever met. You have earned my utmost respect" King Midas said bowing. "Thank you your majesty. It is important I get that cure now" David said. "Yes, yes. You were promised the cure, and the cure you shall have. Your father was right about you" King Midas said.

"My father" David asked confused. "David, my boy, I knew you would defeat the dragon" Mephisto said walking up and patting David on the shoulder. "What are you doing here" David asked. "Your father and me made a deal" King Midas said handing the cure over to Mephisto. "You have a very brave boy here" he said. Mephisto nodded his head. "Me and his mother are very proud" he said. David could tell his father was having hard time saying that with a straight face. "Now about our arrangement" King Midas said. David looked between his father and King Midas. "What arrangement" David asked. "Quiet David. The adults are talking" Mephisto said. "I did not get where I am by thinking small. I stand before you now because I dared to dream big" King Midas said. "David here is going to be more than happy to follow through on our arrangement" Mephisto said. "Your majesty, with all due respect, I have no idea what you two are talking about" David said. Mephisto glared at him.

"I was not just looking for a dragon slayer. I was looking for the strongest warrior in the land. A hero. Someone who could unite the kingdoms. Someone I would be proud to call family" David looked at him confused. "At first I wasn't sure about someone who is part dragon being part of the family but after you killed that dragon you've proven you will be a valuable asset to the kingdom and be able to protect us in a way no other warrior could" King Midas said. David glared at his father. Did he really just agree to this without David's permission? He wished he could say he was shocked but he can't. "Bring her" King Midas called to his guards. In walked Princess Abigail with two guards following her. David knew what was going on here. "Gentlemen" King Midas said as Princess Abigail walked toward them. "May I present my daughter, Abigail" King Midas said. Abigail walked to her father. The only reason she agreed to this stupid marriage was because there was no way to bring Fredrick back.

"She is what I value most. I promised her I would only give her hand in marriage when I could find a companion worthy of her and now, I have" King Midas said. David couldn't believe this was happening. He wanted to marry for love not for political advantage or whatever his father was hoping to get out of this marriage. Abigail looked David up and down. "He killed the dragon" she asked her father. King Midas nodded. She looked at David again. "I guess he'll do" she said. "So, Prince David, I offer you my daughter's hand in marriage" King Midas said. "King Midas, your majesty, I am humbled by your generous offer, but I can't honestly say I'm…" David started to say but his father interrupted him. "My son! Always so humble. Would you give us a moment" Mephisto said. King Midas nodded. Mephisto grabbed David's arm and dragged him out of the room. David pulled his arm out of his father's grasp after they were out of the room.

"Get the hell off me" David said. "You are going to say yes to that marriage" Mephisto said. David shook his head. "No I'm not. When I do marry it's going to be for love not whatever the hell this is" he said. Mephisto laughed. "There's no such thing as true love and besides who would ever love you" he said. David glared at his father but realized something. "King Midas said this was an arrangement you had with him already. You were already talking to him before James got hurt weren't you" he asked. Mephisto nodded. "This has been in the works for sometime yes" he said. "So all that crap about me not leaving the castle" David said. "Reverse pshcology. I knew you wouldn't listen to me and would leave the castle anyway so I decided to make it beneficial to me. I even had the dark one pay you and James a visit. It was really easy to manipulate you" Mephisto said. "This was all a setup" David said. Mephisto patted David's shoulder.

"What do you know? There is a brain inside that head of yours" he said. David felt the anger rising inside of him. "Now you are going to walk back into that room and accept the marriage proposal" Mephisto said. David glared at his father. In this moment he hated him more than he ever did before. Mephisto went to grab David but he moved back. "David come now" Mephisto said getting annoyed with his son. "Screw you" David said starting to walk away. "It's going to be really sad when your brother passes away. Your mother will be heartbroken" Mephisto called after him. David turned around. "What are you talking about" he asked. Mephisto walked up to his son. "Let me say this in a way your tiny brain can understand. You will accept that proposal or your brother will die" Mephisto said. David shook his head. "Nice try. We have the cure and…" David started but his father interrupted him. "I have the cure and it would be very easy for me to simply misplace it" Mephisto said.

"You'd really let your son die" David said. This was low even for his father. Mephisto shook his head. "I'm not doing anything. I'm letting my son who is about to be 18 make an adult decision. These are the prices we pay for being an adult. Making the tough decisions" Mephisto said. David shook his head. "There's no way you'll let James die. If he does you can't use him anymore for your personal gain. That's too valuable to you DAD" David said with disgust. Mephisto nodded. "Your right. You've grown up around me your whole life, so has your brother, so you should know I'm not lying when I say this. There's one piece on the board that isn't as valuable to me and that I would be willing to sacrifice" Mephisto said. He leaned in close to David so he could whisper his next words. "Your mother" he said. David pulled back and looked at his father. "She has no value I can use to get ahead. You were right James is too valuable from a political standpoint just like you are but your mother, there is no value in her and I'd be willing to sacrifice her for the greater good. Well my greater good that is" Mephisto said giving David an evil smile.

His father was right. David knew he wasn't lying. If he said no his father would sacrifice his mother. "You're a monster" David said. Mephisto nodded. "I did the impossible. I found a use for you. Who would have thought you would have any use in this world? Now for the last time, you will walk back in that room, accept the proposal and be happy about it or at least make them believe you are happy about it. You know the price if you don't" Mephisto said. David stood there for a moment and glared at his father. He never hated him more than in this moment. If he refused he would lose his mother. David sighed, hung his head low and started to walk back into the room. Mephisto grabbed his arm stopping him. "Not a word about our little conversation to anyone. If anyone asks your happy and in love. Do you understand" Mephisto asked. David pulled his arm out of his father's grasp and walked back into the room. Mephisto smiled. This marriage was going to go through and he was one step closer to what he wanted. Who could have imagined his worthless son David would be this useful to him and his plan?
