In the enchanted forest, David Mephisto and Maleficent all waited to see if the cure had actually worked. They had been back for hours and gave James the cure. They all sat in the large banquet hall in the castle ready for dinner. Mephisto had told Maleficent he had big news to share. He had also had a conversation with David to make sure he understood he needed to make sure his mother and brother believed he was happy. David wasn't doing a good job at it. He was sitting at the table sulking thinking about his upcoming marriage to a woman he didn't even know. He always hoped to find true love, marry her and then have kids with her but now because of his father that all went down the tubes. Maleficent kept asking David if he was OK. He kept telling her he was just worried about James. Mephisto glared at his son. He better not ruin this by being a baby about the whole situation. James walked into the room. Everyone got up and smiled.
"How are you feeling honey? Is everything alright? Do you need me to make an extra potion for you" Maleficent asked worriedly. James smiled at his mother's concern and shook his head. "No I'm back to my old self" he said. David walked up to James and hugged him. "It's good to have you back bro" he said. "It's good to be back" James said as he pulled back. "You did it. You got the cure" he said. David shrugged his shoulders. "It was nothing" he said. James looked at his twin. He could tell something was wrong. Even though David was smiling he could tell he wasn't happy. He figured it was that twin telepathy thing they had between them. His father walked up to him. "My boy. Good to see you up and on your feet especially in time for the big announcement" Mephisto said. "What announcement" James asked looking around seeing the room set up really nice and the table was filled with food. They were obviously celebrating something.
"David has an announcement to make" Mephisto said turning to his other son. David looked at his father who stood moved behind Maleficent. He gave David a warning glance. He couldn't screw this up. David gulped. "What's going on honey" Maleficent asked. David took a deep breath. "I'm getting married" he said. Maleficent smiled at David while James looked at his brother in shock. "Your what" he asked. Maleficent walked up and hugged David. "This is so exciting. Who is the girl who is lucky enough to be with my handsome son" Maleficent said. David smiled at her. "Her name is Kathryn. She's King Midas's daughter" David said. "That's exciting. I want to meet her. We have to invite her to the castle" Maleficent said. David shook his head. "It's not that big of a deal" he said. Maleficent hugged him again. "Of course it is my baby boy is getting married" she said. James stared at David. He knew how David always wanted to meet his true love. This Kathryn person couldn't be it.
"I didn't even know you were seeing anyone" James said to David. David nodded. "It all just kind of happened" he said. James saw the sad look in David's eyes. This wasn't his true love. David didn't want this. This couldn't be true especially not with their father so happy about it. David would never tell their father if he really loved someone especially not first. Mephisto walked up to James. "Come now James. You should be happy for David. The impossible happened. He found someone who is actually willing to put up with him for the rest of their life. We all know how much of a chore that is" he said. "I am happy for him. I just didn't know he was interested in anyone" he said. Mephisto nodded. "It came as a shock to me too. To think someone would actually love your brother. I guess miracles do happen" he said. James glared at his father. He hated how he talked about David. "Don't worry James. You'll find someone who will love you someday too" Mephisto said smiling at James with a sinister smile.
Later that night, James walked into David's room. "Congratulations man. I'm happy for you" James said as he hugged his brother. David put on a fake smile. "Yeah it's exciting. I can't believe I'm actually getting married" he said. James closed the door. "Come on David. Dad's not here. You can stop with the act" he said. "What act" David asked. "I know you David probably better than anyone else. Do you really expect me to believe that if you really loved this Kathryn woman you would tell dad of all people. You hate him" James said. David shook his head. "He found out. There was nothing I could do" he said. "Why is dad so happy about it then? He doesn't care about our happiness. He takes joy in trying to destroy it" James said. David shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe he's changing" David said. James snorted. "You don't actually believe that. This is dad we're talking about" he said. "Look James if your not going to be happy for me than you can leave" David snapped walking away from James.
"You can't be serious right now. I know this engagement isn't real. You wouldn't just jump into a relationship with some woman you barely know. All you've ever talked about is finding your true love. You can't tell me this woman is your true love" James said. David looked at his brother angrily. He had to play the part or their mother would die. He couldn't tell James that unfortunately so he had to pretend this was real. "You haven't even met her" David said back. "No but I've known your whole life and this isn't you" James said. "Well maybe this is the new me. We're about to be 18 and we have to get rid of all those delusions and fantasies of true love. It doesn't exist. It's time to grow up" David said. James looked at David shocked. "Is this you talking or dad" he asked. "Maybe dad's right" David said. James shook his head. "I don't believe that. I know for a fact that dad's not right but if you want to be his puppet for the rest of your life go ahead. I won't" James said leaving the room slamming the door behind him.
In Storybrooke, David slowly woke up. His vision was blurry but he could see flames in front of him. Fire. He blinked his eyes. His vision came more into focus. He was in front of a fireplace. The memories of what happened came back to him. He went to see Gold and Gold paralyzed him and took control of his body. Then all of a sudden he became really tired and he woke up here wherever here was. David looked around. Good at least he had control of his body again. He saw he was in what looked like some sort of cabin. He realized he was sitting. He tried to stand up but found he couldn't. He looked down at his body and saw that he was tied to a chair. He struggled trying to get out of the ropes but he couldn't. Just then he felt something in his mouth. He realized he was gagged also. Gold knew about the curse and kidnapped him. Why though? What did he want? "Your awake your majesty. That's good" David heard Gold say from the door of the cabin. David turned and glared at the imp.
Gold walked over to David. "Now Charming it's only going to be us for the next couple minutes. I thought we could talk" Gold said smiling sinisterly at the bound prince. Gold pulled the gag out of David's mouth. "What the hell are you doing Rumplestitlskin" David asked. "Making sure you're not a hindrance too my plan" Gold said. "What plan? Where the hell am I" David yelled struggling against his binds. "This is my cabin. One of the things I got from the curse. Perfect for kidnapping prince's" Gold said laughing. David glared at the imp in front of him. "How the hell do you think this is going to go for you? What do you think people are going to say when the town deputy turns up missing in the morning" David asked. Gold laughed and shook his head. "You're not going to be missing. You will arrive at work tomorrow morning bright eyed and bushy tailed working for me" he said. David shook his head. "No I won't" he said.
Gold leaned in close so he was just inches from David's face and smiled evilly. "You won't have a choice. When we are done with you tonight you will be under my control and you won't know it. You'll be scared of me just like everyone else in this town. You'll be nothing more than my puppet and I'll be your puppet master" Gold said. David saw the dark one in his eyes. "Why do you want me" David asked. "You're integral to my plan. Your more important than you know. Plus I always wanted a prince to be under my control and what better prince than the mighty Prince Charming" Gold said lightly slapping David's cheek. David struggled against the ropes again. If he could just free himself he could escape. Gold took out a bag and opened it. "It was really easy to get you to fall into my trap. You've been so preoccupied fighting with your brother you haven't seen what was under your nose the whole time" Gold said putting the windmill on the mantle on top of the fireplace.
"What do you want with James" David asked. Gold laughed and patted David on the head like you would a little kid. "Don't worry about your brother. I have plans for him too. Regina also" Gold said. "I won't let you hurt James or Regina" David said struggling again. Despite everything James and Regina were still family and even though he hated to admit it David still loved James. Even through everything James put David and his family through James was still his brother and he wouldn't let anyone hurt him. Gold turned on the windmill and it started spinning. Once again David was drawn to it. He couldn't keep his eyes off it. Once again David felt his body become stiff. "Charming look me in the eyes" Gold said. David obeyed the command. Gold walked up to David. "You have no control here. You do as I say and I promise you not only will you not interrupt my plans but you will help me with all of them even hurting your brother" Gold said.
"Whatever you're planning it won't…" David started to say. "Quiet" Gold yelled and David immediately stopped talking. "You will not repeat a word of our conversation to your brother or anybody else. They will not even know we talked. You weren't even awake before they came. We never talked. Now Charming, open your mouth" Gold said and David immediately obeyed. Gold stuck the gag back in David's mouth. "Turn back toward the fireplace" Gold ordered and David obeyed. "When I snap my fingers you will fall asleep again" Gold said snapping his fingers. The prince fell fast asleep. Gold smiled at his sleeping prisoner. Gold leaned in close to David's ear. "Now your majesty sleep well. I have big plans for you" Gold said. He walked into the kitchen. Everything was falling into place nicely. The prince was under his control and he was a very valuable piece on the board. Charming was going to be a useful ally to have and when he was done with him he'd take care of the prince.
David woke up to a painful slap. "Rise and shine princess. We have work to do" James said. David looked up and saw James, Regina Paul and Gold standing around him. He noticed the windmill had been turned off. At least he had some control over his body again. "He's been asleep this whole time. "Your brother sure is a sound sleeper" Gold said smiling at David. David glared at him. He was aware of their previous conversation and had to find a way to warn James about Gold. David struggled against the ropes. He was still gagged so he couldn't speak. James laughed. "You might want to stop struggling. You're not escaping from us" James said. David tried to say something but it was muffled by the gag. James rolled his eyes. "Just sit there for a minute. The adults have to talk" James said as him Regina Paul and Gold went into a corner. They started talking about something. David couldn't hear them. What he wouldn't give for his super dragon hearing right now.
David saw James Regina Paul and Gold separate. Paul Regina and Gold all left the cabin. Now David was alone with his brother. Good maybe now he could warn James about Rumplestiltskin. James walked over to David and pulled a chair up in front of him. "Don't worry they'll be back soon. Right now it's just the two of us" James said. David tried to say something again but once again it was muffled. James rolled his eyes and pulled the gag out of David's mouth. "I guess we could have a brotherly chat until they come back" James said. "James you have to listen to me. You can't trust…" David started to say but he couldn't finish his sentence and warn James about Rumplestiltskin. James nodded. "I know" he said. David looked at him shocked. "You know" he asked. "Yeah I know I can't trust you. I learned my lesson the hard way" James said. David shook his head frustrated. "For once can you stop being such an idiot and think. We shouldn't be fighting. We can help each other" David said.
"Now how does that work? The things I want are for the curse to stay intact, me and Regina to get to have our happy ending with our son and of course your suffering which I have to say after I'm done with you tonight I will finally get" James said smiling evilly at his brother. "James just trust me. If you do this, you will regret it" David said. James shook his head. "No I don't think I will. You're going to lose everything and I get to sit back and watch it all happen. That's good enough for me" James said. David sighed frustrated. James could be so stubborn sometimes just like him. He was stupid to not look at Rumplestiltskin as the big threat he is. He had to stop James from making the same mistake before it was too late. "James please. As your brother…" David started to say but James got up and pulled David closer to him roughly by his hair and pulled out a knife and held it to his throat. "Your not my brother. You haven't been my brother since that night" James said.
"James I'm sor…" David started to say but James pulled his hair roughly stopping him from continuing. "Save it David. I don't care. My actual brother, the person I grew up with, never would have done what you did that night" James said to David. "I was only trying to help" David said. James roughly pulled David's hair again. "WELL YOU DIDN'T. YOU RUINED EVERYTHING LIKE YOU ALWAYS DO'' James yelled in David's face. James calmed himself down and put the knife closer to David's throat. "Look at you. You walk around like some self-righteous asshole. The heroic Prince Charming. I wonder David, if everyone knew what you did to me and Regina how would they feel about you? Would you be seen as the villain instead of me and Regina" James asked. James moved the knife right up to David's throat where the tip was touching it. "Your completely at my mercy. All it would take is one swipe of this knife and you'd never be an issue for me again" James said.
David and James just stared at each other for the moment. David believed this could be the end and thought about Snow and Emma. Hopefully Emma found out how to break the curse. After what felt like eternity James pulled the knife away from David and let go of him. David let out a sigh of relief. "Death is too good for you" James said. James got inches from David's face. "You deserve to suffer and you're going to" James said. He roughly put the gag back in David's mouth. "I'm done talking" he said. James pulled out his cell phone and called someone. James walked into the other room and closed the door. David was finally alone. This was his chance to escape. He started rubbing the rope against the arm of the chair hoping to weaken the ropes so he could free his hand. He had to hurry before James came back into the room. David heard the door to the other room open and James walked out the front door of the cabin. David had to work fast before James came back.
David was finally able to free his left hand. He pulled the gag out of his mouth and threw it on the floor. He started working on the rope on his right hand when a familiar sensation went through his body. Without being able to control himself David looked up at the windmill which was moving again. David's body stiffened once again. "Where do you think you're going Prince Charming" David heard Rumplestiltskin's voice say. David sat there frozen as Gold stepped in front of him and smiled at the immobilized prince. "You won't get away with this. Emma will find away to stop you and save me" David said. Gold smiled evilly and leaned in close to David. "Trust me the savior won't be coming to save anyone. I've made sure of it" Gold said pulling out another rope. David glared at him. "What did you do to her" David asked as Gold started tying his arm up again. Gold smiled at him sinisterly. "The same thing we're going to do to you" he said finishing tying David's arm.
Gold shut off the windmill and David could feel his body loosen up again. He had control of his body again. "You need a lesson in obedience. Trying to escape wasn't a smart move" Gold said as he picked up the gag and put it in David's mouth again. He stepped in front of the prince and grabbed him by the front of his Henley and pulled so he was just inches from his face. "Now you are going to be a good prince and sit here and wait for us to return. If you don't your daughter and your precious Snow will feel the wrath of the dark one and I'm sure you don't want that right" Gold said to David. David didn't respond. Gold grabbed David's Henley tighter. David saw the evil in Gold's eyes. "When I ask you a question you answer. You're going to behave yourself right" Gold asked. David slowly nodded his head. Gold let go of David and pushed him back in the chair. "Good answer. I'll be back in a couple minutes" Gold said leaving the cabin.
David sat in the chair thinking about everything. He would have tried to escape again but they would hurt Emma and Snow and he wasn't going to let that happen. So he sat and waited. A couple minutes later Gold James and Regina walked into the cabin. James was carrying a box which he put on the kitchen table. David watched as the three villain's huddled together. He couldn't hear what they were saying but he could see them all talking. What were they going to do to him? Gold left the cabin again. Regina walked in front of David and smiled at the captured deputy. "I have waited a long time for this. Tonight we finally pay you back for what you did" she said. James carried the box to a table in front of David. He took out a key and unlocked it. He opened it and took out what was inside. David's eyes widened when he saw it and he started squirming in his seat.
James laughed and walked over to David. He removed the gag. "Where did you get that" David asked his eyes not leaving the object in James's hands. It looked like a music box but it was so much worse. "I took it from mom's castle before the curse was cast. I figured I might need it if became too much of a problem. Well here we are now" James said. David shook his head. "That won't work here. There's no magic here" he said. "That's where you're wrong David. Magical items still work in this world hence the windmill which was a gift from us to Gold and this box will work on you" Regina said. David looked between James and Regina. "You guys really hate me that much" David said. "More" James answered. James put the box next to the windmill and pulled up a seat for him and Regina. "I guess it's only fair you know what we're about to do to you" James said. Regina and James looked at each other and smiled. They looked back at David. "We're going to put you under the curse" Regina said.
"What? How" David asked struggling again. "By using these wonderful magical items we bought to this world with us" James said. David shook his head. "You already cast the curse and me and Emma escaped it. You can't just put us under it now" he said. Regina smiled evilly. "Tell that to your daughter" she said. "She has no idea who you are. No idea about where she came from or who she actually is. She believes her parents abandoned her and pretty soon you won't recognize her either" James said. David thrashed in his seat trying to get free and attack them. "YOU EVIL MONSTERS" he yelled still thrashing in his seat. James just laughed unfazed by his brother's outburst. "You know David it must suck too not recognize your own daughter. Glad I'm not in you're shoes" James said. David continued to thrash in his seat. Gold walked back into the cabin carrying David's gun and holster. James turned to him. "A little help" James said as him and Regina put on protective glasses.
Gold turned on the windmill and David stopped trashing and looked at the windmill. Once again his body stiffened. Gold walked over to the deputy's immobile body and lifted his Henley. "Sit back and relax" Gold said as he attached David's gun to his hip. David sat back in his seat and felt himself relaxing. Gold attached David's deputy badge to his belt. He lowered his Henley shirt. He looked at David. "Not a word" he said. He looked at James and Regina. "He's all yours" Gold said. He looked back at the frozen deputy. "I expect to see you at work bright and early tomorrow. I like for my employees to be on time" Gold said patting David's cheek. David sat there frozen unable to move completely at James ad Regina's mercy. He saw Gold whisper something into James's ear and handed him the remote to the windmill. Gold left the cabin leaving David alone with James and Regina. "David now that it's just the three of us let's begin" James said.
"We won't be needing these anymore" Regina said as she untied David. David was finally untied but couldn't move. He was frozen in his seat. There was nothing he could do. James stood up and took the box off the mantle. "Stand up" James said and David did as he was told. David was using all his will power to try and fight but he couldn't. "Now David this box is going to make your mind easier to manipulate. It'll let down the defenses your dragon blood protects you with. Don't fight it. It will do you no good" James said to his frozen twin. David just stood there not able to fight back. James looked at David in the eyes. "I really am sorry it's come to this David. I wish there was another way. I truly do" James said. David could hear the sincerity in his voice. This was hurting his brother. Regina took James's hand. "We don't have to do this if you don't want. We can wipe his memory of the events tonight and he'll never know this happened" she said.
James shook his head. "No we have to do this. We've gone this far. We have to go all the way" James said kissing Regina's hand. James opened the box and put it on the floor. David could feel it affecting his mind. He tried to fight it but it was too strong. It was weakening his mind. James pulled out a memory rock he had in his pocket. "I know you were wondering who's memories this rock has in it" James said and held it to David's head. It started to glow. "I've used this on you before and now I have to use it on you again" James said. David couldn't believe it. That memory rock had his memories in it. "I want you to know while we've had you captured we went through the place your staying and took everything. Photos, credit cards, your ID, all of your clothes. All of it's been destroyed. We went to the station and destroyed all of your files, wiped your computer of it's memory and destroyed anything of personal meaning to you. Anything that represents David Nolan has been destroyed" James said.
David just stared at the windmill unable to stop the inevitable. "We've replaced everything of David Nolan's with stuff that represents your new identity. There's new photos, credit cards, a new ID and we even bought you new clothes. We even rearranged everyone's memories. To everyone David Nolan never existed" James explained to his immobilized brother. He smiled at David. "Tonight David Nolan dies forever and me and Regina finally win. Goodbye David" James said as he held up the memory rock to David's head. "Get rid of everything. Every memory David has erase from his head" James said. A light went from David's head into the rock. The rock sucking away all of David's memories. Every last one. David tried to fight but he wasn't able to as every memory was sucked away from his head the last memory being of the day Emma was born. A single tear fell from David's eye as everything disappeared from his mind. The rock stopped glowing and James smiled. "Get ready to begin your new life…Connor" James said as he held up the rock and the new memories he had decided on for his new brother went into his head. James and Regina smiled. They had won and finally gotten their revenge for what David had done to them all those years ago.
