James had succeeded in cursing David. His new identity was Connor Williams. Any trace of David Nolan was erased. James and Regina even rearranged everyone's memories to know Connor and forget David ever existed. Their was no trace of David Nolan what so ever. Even Mary Margaret believed she was meeting Connor tonight. Connor had promised her he would leave his wife for her but that wasn't going to happen. James made sure of it. When they met up tonight Connor was going to break her heart which is where Connor was heading to in his car. He had just finished a shift at the station and was heading to see Mary. That was one more thing in his life he screwed up. He never wanted to hurt Mary but he had to know. He loved Kathryn and had been with her since they were in high school. They got married while they were both in college. He thought he had gotten out of this stupid town forever but like everything else in his life he screwed up and ended up in rehab for the third time.
When they were around 21 Kathryn had gotten pregnant. Her and Connor were so excited. They got everything prepared for the baby but Kathryn wound up losing the baby. That broke Connor's heart. He turned to drugs and alcohol to help him get through it. He always wanted to be a father so hearing that he could possibly never be one was heartbreaking to him. He didn't treat Kathryn the way she deserved to be treated. She stuck by his side though because she loved him. He didn't deserve that love though. The screaming at her when she was just trying to help, the neglecting of her and of course the countless affairs which he felt like shit for. He never hit her though no matter how drunk he got. He'd never be like his father. That douchebag could rot in hell as far as Connor was concerned. He was going to make it all right which is why he had to call it off with Mary. She had always been sweet to him and he was feeling lonely so he started an affair with her which he shouldn't have. It was wrong.
When he ended up in rehab for the third time, the government threatened to lock him up unless he had family who could watch over him. The only family he had was his twin brother James who he hadn't talked to for a long time. James was an asshole and he hated his brother but he had to stay on his good side or he would end up in jail. One word from James and he'd spend the rest of his life behind bars. Him and James never really got along well. James was always the popular twin with all the friends and the cheerleader girlfriends. He was the awkward shy unconfident kid who didn't know how to stand up for himself. Even know he had a problem with standing up for himself. He was bullied a lot when he was a kid. James even participated in the bullying. He did have one friend though who always looked out for him. Graham who he worked with at the station. They had been friends since they were young. Unfortunately him and James lost their mother when they were 12.
James always blamed him for their mother's death especially since when she died they were stuck with their father who was an abusive jackass. Once he beat Connor so bad he ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks. Of course he had to lie about it. Luckily their father mysteriously died when he was 17. Connor never knew what happen. James just told him not to worry about it and if anyone asked their father moved out of the country. Connor always suspected James might have killed their father but he had no proof and didn't push the matter. He was just happy his father was out of his life. Now he was back in this stupid town where he grew up. He always hated this town but he had to stay. He had to stay under his brother's watch or he'd end up in jail. Him and Kathryn were going through a hard time right now and he was staying with Graham. He definitely wasn't staying with his douche of a brother, his sister in law who was a cold hearted bitch and his nephew who was the biggest brat he'd ever met.
Connor had arrived at the path that would take him to the toll bridge where he was meeting Mary. He got out of his car and took a deep breath. He didn't want to do this but it had to be done. He started running down the path. Mary was waiting at the toll bridge for Connor to arrive. He was finally ready to leave Kathryn and be with her. They'd finally be together. She had been there for about 15 minutes waiting. He was running late. Did he change his mind and decide to go back to Kathryn? Mary started nervously playing with the rings on her finger and looked up at the sky smiling. Connor ran up the path. Mary turned around hearing Connor coming up behind her. "Hi" Mary said. "You came" Connor said a little disappointed. He knew he had to do this but standing in front of her with her smiling at him and looking beautiful the way she did it was becoming incredibly harder. Mary continued to smile at him.
"You sound surprised. In fact, you almost sound a bit disappointed" Mary said. Connor looked down at the ground and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry" he said. The smile faded from Mary's face. "Your going back to Kathryn aren't you" Mary asked. Connor didn't say anything. He just continued to look at the ground. He finally looked up at her and saw how sad she looked. He felt like a jerk. He walked to Mary. "She's my wife" Connor said. They just stared at each other for a moment two lovers who couldn't be together but longed for each other. "Do you love her" Mary asked. "Yes" Connor said. "So everything you told me was a lie" Mary said the tears threating to fall. Connor shook his head. "No. I meant everything I told you. I do love you but I love her too and we have history. I just can't give up on that" he said. Mary looked away from Connor. "It's the right thing for both us. I'm a screw up. Always have been, always will be. You deserve to be with someone who can give you what you deserve because I'm not that guy. I'm sorry" Connor said.
Mary shook her head. "You shouldn't have led me on Connor" she said. Connor nodded his head. "I know" he said. "Obviously you've made your choice" Mary said. Connor's heart was breaking. He never wanted to hurt her. That was the last thing he wanted to do. "I'm sorry" he said going to reach for her hand but she pulled back from him. "That's OK. I guess we just aren't meant to be" she said. She walked away form him not turning back and letting the tears finally fall. Connor watched as she walked away his heartbreaking more with every step she took away from him.
