Connor drove to Kathryn's house. He had to make things right with her. He loved her and wanted their relationship to work out. He hadn't treated her the way she deserved to be treated but that was all going to change. No more cheating, no more fighting about stupid stuff. He was going to be the best husband he could to her and treat her the way she deserved to be treated. Kathryn moved back to this stupid town with him without question once he told her they had to move so that his brother could watch him. She had been so supportive of him and how does he repay her? By having an affair with Mary Margaret. That was all over now which was hard for him to do but he ended it with Mary. He had to make his relationship with Kathryn work. He hoped she forgave him for everything. Granted she didn't know about the affair and he wasn't going to tell her about it but still he had a lot of making up to do.
Connor walked up to the house and rang the bell. He waited for Kathryn to answer. Hopefully she was home. Kathryn answered the door. Connor smiled at her. "I'm sorry about everything. I want to make our marriage work" Connor blurted out. "You do" Kathryn asked. Connor nodded. Kathryn walked closer to Connor. "Why now" she asked. "I love you and I haven't treated you the way you deserve to be treated. We haven't been in a good place for a while. I know I threatened to leave you but I'm not. I want to work things out. I just needed time to figure that out. You stuck by me through my three stints in rehab and your still here. I just want another chance to be there for you like you've been there for me. You are the only person who has ever believed in me even if I don't deserve it. I want the chance to prove you right in your belief of me" Connor said. Kathryn nodded. "I'm sorry, too. This isn't all your fault. We're both to blame for the issues in our relationship" Kathryn said.
"I know we have a lot of work to do. Let's see if we can make this work" Connor said. Kathryn smiled and nodded. "I'd like that" she said. Connor walked up to Kathryn and held out his hand. She took it and pulled him inside. "Have you eaten anything tonight" she asked. Connor shook his head. "I worked the late shift. I just got off. Graham has a date tonight so it was just me" he said. "I'll make something for you" she said. Connor nodded. He took off his coat and put it on the couch. They were going to work this time. They just had to. She didn't need to know about Mary Margaret. That was over and in the past. There was no reason for him to bring it up. Connor looked at the pictures of them around the house and smiled. So many good memories between them. How could he ever have tried to ruin this? Their relationship may not be perfect but it is the closet thing Connor has ever had to a healthy romantic relationship.
Connor saw a picture of him, Kathryn, James and Regina. He frowned. Regina and Kathryn were friends and him and James, well they just put up with each other. They weren't close but he needed James and James knew that and always loved to exploit that. Anything good that happened in his life James found a way to ruin it. When he was struggling with drugs and alcohol and he asked James for help James slammed the door in his face and told him he could rot on the streets with all the rats and mice. The only reason James agreed to watch over him was because it made him look good not because he actually cared. Kathryn walked into the room. "It'll be a little while" she said. Connor nodded. "Thank you. I know I don't deserve your hospitality" he said. Kathryn sat down on the couch and shook he head. "Your my husband Connor. You don't have to thank me" she said. Connor sat down next to Kathryn and they talked. It was just like old times.
When Connor's dinner was ready, he ate while they continued to talk how they used to before their relationship went to crap. After Connor was done he offered to do the dishes but Kathryn said no. He put on his coat and went to leave but Kathryn took his hand stopping him. "You can stay the night if you want" she said. Connor looked at her unsure. "Are you sure" he asked. She stood there for a moment unmoving but then kissed him. "I'm sure. I want to spend the night with my husband" she said. Connor smiled at her and kissed her. They made it up to the bedroom when the clothes started to come off. Connor took off Kathryn's shirt and jeans leaving her in just her bra and panties. Connor slipped his shoes and socks off. Kathryn pulled Connor's coat off along with his buttoned down shirt. Next came off his Henley. Then she unbuckled his belt and took his jeans off him. Connor and Kathryn made love to each other, each looking at this night as the start of their new relationship together. This time they were going to make it work.
