Conner was in his garage frantically working on his truck. He was frustrated with the whole situation. How dare Regina just fire him after everything. He wasn't surprised considering what happened between him and James the night of Graham's death but him being the new sheriff is what Graham would've wanted and they should've honored that. Erica and Mary walked into the garage. "Damn it" Conner yelled as he threw a tool across the garage. "Conner" Erica called. Conner turned around and saw her and Mary standing there. "Erica, Mary. What are you guys doing here" Conner asked. "We came to try to figure out how were going to get our job back" Erica said. Mary nodded. "Is something wrong with your truck" Mary asked. Conner sighed. "There wasn't anything wrong when I started working on it. I'm pretty sure there is now. Guess I ruined that like I do everything else in my life. I just needed to do something to take my mind off things" he said.
"We need to figure out a plan" Erica said. "Yea Sydney is the mayor's puppet. At least with you guys in charge they won't be able to do whatever they want. You guys will fight back. That's your job" Mary said. Conner and Mary looked at each other, this connection they both felt as prominent as ever. "This is something you're so passionate about. What are we going to do" Erica asked. Conner looked over at her and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't but I know I want it back" he said. "Well there's gotta be a way for you to get it back" Mary said. "Maybe I can help with that" they all heard a voice say from the garage door. They all turned around and saw Mr. Gold standing there. They all started to clam up. "Mr. Gold. How can I help you" Conner asked. Mr. Gold shook his head. "This is about how I can help you Mr. Williams" he said. Conner looked at him confused. "Sorry for the intrusion. There's something I'd like to discuss with you" Mr. Gold said.
"We'll let you two talk" Erica said leading Mary out of the garage. "I heard about what happened. Such an injustice" Mr. Gold said. "Yea well what's done is done" Conner said going to the fridge. "You want anything" he asked Mr. Gold. Mr. Gold shook his head. Conner took out a coke and started drinking it. "Aren't you going to fight against this" Mr. Gold asked. "What chance do I have? James and Regina are the mayors and I'm, well, me. I ruin everything I touch" Conner said. "Mr. Williams, two people with a common goal can accomplish many things. Two people with a common enemy can accomplish even more. How would you like a benefactor" Gold asked. "A benefactor" Conner asked. "You know it really is quite shocking how few people study the town charter" Gold said. "The town charter" Conner said. "Well it's quite comprehensive and the mayors authority, well maybe they're not quite as powerful as they seem" Mr. Gold said handing Conner the charter. They smiled at each other.
In the enchanted forest, David and James were sitting in their beds telling one of the servants, Ruth, who helped Maleficent take care of Lily, David and James and was like a second mother to them all about turning into dragons. "And we flew so high" James excitedly explained. David nodded his head. "Yea I could see behind the wall" he said. Ruth smiled at them. "It sounds like you boys had quite the adventure today" she said. They both nodded. "Yea mom was sad then she was happy" James said. "Dad was scary like always" David said. Ruth nodded her head. "He can be quite scary at times but don't worry. Me and your mother won't let anything happen to you boys. Now your mother will be in here in a few minutes" Ruth said. "OK" David and James said at the same time. Ruth smiled at them. She loved them like they were her own children even though she didn't have any of her own. She left the room leaving David and James to excitedly talk to one another.
Maleficent walked into her sons rooms. "Mommy" they both yelled when they saw her. She smiled and walked over to their beds. "How are my big boys tonight" she asked. "Mommy can we go flying with you tonight. Pwetty please" James asked. "Yea we'll be good and do everything you ask promise" David said. Maleficent shook her head. "You need to learn how to fly first. You can't just go out there and start flying without knowing what you're doing. Besides, it's time for bed" she said. They shook their heads. "But we're not tired" David said yawning. James followed suit. Maleficent laughed. "You both had a pretty exciting day today. You need your sleep but I promise tomorrow I will teach you how to fly and everything it takes to be a dragon" she said. "Really" they both said excitedly. Maleficent nodded. "Yes but you need to sleep so your all rested up for tomorrow" Maleficent said. She tucked them both into bed and kissed them on the foreheads.
"Mommy" David said from his bed. "Yes sweetie" Maleficent said. David played with his dragon stuffed animal not knowing if he should ask this question. "Why does daddy hate us" he asked. She looked at both of her sons and it broke her heart to see the fear and sadness on their faces. She sat down on the end of David's bed. She sighed. "Your father is a very complicated man. It's hard for him to show love for people especially his children" she said. "He does for Lily" James said sadly. Maleficent nodded her head. "Him and Lily have a special kind of relationship" she said. "How do we make him love us" David asked. Maleficent wanted to cry. All they wanted was the one thing they'd never get. The love of their father. "Listen to me boys. Mommy loves you so much and so does Auntie Ruth. No matter what daddy says you two are not embarrassments to this family. I am so proud of both of you and you two are going to grow up to be better men than you're father could ever imagine being. Don't worry so much about your father OK" she said.
They both nodded. She got up from her spot on the bed. "Goodnight. I love you my little dragons" she said. "Love you mommy" they both said at the same time. Maleficent magically turned out the lights and left the room. "Goodnight James" David said to his brother. "Goodnight David" James said back. They both cuddled up with their dragon stuffed animals and fell asleep dreaming about what it would be like if their father actually loved them.
