Chapter 64
Siren vs Siren
The cursing caught the attention of Thundalya, she looked at the blue haired woman who struggled to get up.
"I almost forgot about you Child." Alesia turned towards Maya.
The Blue Siren hated Alesia for what she had done but deep down, she hated herself more.
"So now the two of us left alive." Alesia took one step forward. "And that won't last for long."
Maya aimed her left hand on Alesia and wanted to use her powers but marks remained dim.
"Is that supposed to kill me?" The distance began to shorten. "Though I do have to thank you for what you have done. Hadn't for your foolishness, I wouldn't be here."
Maya closed her eyes and frowned bitterly. She pulled her hand towards her and extended back to Alesia. Her power was still absent. A drop of sweat fell down from her cheeks.
"Give up Child. You already-"
"STOP CALLING ME CHILD!" Her eyes opened and it was bright blue. So were her Channels that lit on the left side of her body.
"Ack!" Alesia eyes grow wide. She was suddenly stationary.
Alesia did not expect it, her body felt heaviest in her entire life. Instantly, with Maya's might, gravity tripled and everything surrounding Thundalya, denser in its property. The roof on top of her collapsed. Alesia kneeled to one knee while holding on the stone that sandwiched her more to the floor. Her body was the same but the weight was three fold. Maintaining it was no easy feat, a blood streak appeared on Maya's nostril. Her head became dizzy and her focus was not 100 percent.
That moment of distraction gave an opportunity to Alesia. She flicked her left hand and shot lightning at Maya. Alesia collapsed to the ground with a stone on top of her. At the same time, the bolt hit Maya and pushed her back to the ground. Thus Alesia unharmed as the weight became normal.
Alesia pushed the stone roof away from her back and quickly got up to her feet. Like her nickname, she sprinted and leaped high like a tigress going for the kill. Maya, still weak on her back, saw the woman airborne. Desperate, she used her powers again to halt Alesia's momentum. Like before, she could not move. The opposite happened, Alesia was now light and floated up in the air like a bubble.
Maya began to sweat even more and her heart beat faster than ever, nose bleeding. She closed her eyes and threw her outside and into the forest. Thundalya crashed into the branches and trees. Maya turned her body around and pushed herself up. She saw the rustling leaves and the distance was so far. Breathing through her mouth, Maya wiped the blood on her philtrum and looked at the thick blood on her hand. The dizziness wears off, Maya advances forward and chases Alesia by the direction of moving leaves of the trees.
Alesia finally crashed on her back to a tree sturdy and strong. Then landed on the ground safely with her hands cushioning the fall. She raised her head upwards and saw a blue blip that was slowly getting bigger. Alesia continued to glare at it as she regained back footing.
"Come on…" Alesia squeezed her fist.
The blue blip became clearer. Maya changed from walking to running.
"Come here…" Alesia leaned on the tree behind her.
From running, Maya sprinted with all her rage visible on her face.
"Come at me Childkiller!" Alesia shouted.
Two Sirens collided their fists together and their Channels flashing bright. Both of their wings span wide and mighty, Alesia jet black while Maya's bright blue. The earth shook and so did the leaves of the surrounding trees. It created a wave of dark electricity and blue aura that burst outward like a bomb. The bitterness between each other could not be contained any longer. Alesia and Maya attacked one another without control or strategy, pure anarchy.
Unfiltered rage expressed through physical barbarism.
Alesia used her powers and began to give a barrage of punches on Maya's face. The sound of meat hitting bone a total of eight times. The speed of it amped with the powers as if it was lightning. Maya closed one eye and let the fist land. Just like her teacher, Searcher Kharkov, she advanced forward regardless of what happened. Three steps forward, Alesia would take one step back. Like a zombie she pursued, when the distance favourable, she struck Alesia with one hit to the abdomen. When the fist hit the body, Maya used her powers to make her fist heavier.
"Arck!" The oxygen in her lung was forced out through her breath, breaking Alesia's rhythm.
The painful expression visible, the punches stopped, Alesia made a defensive decision to fall back and have distance. Maya continued her assault and punched the abdomen again. Alesia made adjustments but leaned her stomach by arching her head forward. She covered her abdomen just to make sure. Maya spinned around just like Searcher Kharkov and hit Thundalya right to the face. Hit to the side of her head, Alesia pushed far away to the left and crashed to a tree not far. During the crash, Alesia hit face first on the rough surface of the tree. Giving her a concussion.
Maya stomped forward and gained confidence with each step. Alesia shook her head furiously as she was seeing double. Using her ears, she could guess where Maya was. Alesia squeezed her left hand and unleashed a web electric that spread wide and high. The surprise attack caught Maya and it struck her from head to foot. Electrocuting and shoving her back with force she has never experienced. Space was created as Maya shoved away with the lightning wave. Alesia stopped, her left hand began to shiver, sweating and breathing through her mouth. Maya immediately rolled on her belly and attempted to get up. A moment of pause between the two Sirens.
"Giving up?" Maya stood up.
"You didn't kill me yet." Alesia leaned on the tree.
"I'm about to." The Blue Siren ran to Alesia and restarted her assault.
As Maya got in range, Alesia springed herself by kicking away from the three she leaned. Struck a jab and cross directly to Maya's face. The Blue Siren took it to the chin and did not budge. She returned the attack with a slap to Alesia's face, surprising her that she took a few steps back.
She persisted in her assault and tackled Thundalya. Lifted Alesia up with her stomach on Maya's shoulder then slammed quickly while putting all her weight into it. Alesia winced yet maintained her serious face moments later. With Maya pinning her down and her head under her armpit, it was natural to lock Maya's neck with her two hands. The lock secured, Maya had her hand on Alesia's face.
It was the same situation when she fought with Searcher Red during the first spar. Now, she had more knowledge with Searcher Kharkov's training.
Maya dug her feet to the ground then pushed her legs up. Her spine stayed straight. Her whole body was perpendicular to Alesia. She then pushed herself up and, adjusting to the shape of her skull, broke free from Alesia's hold. Maya sat on top of Alesia then pounded her face with fists.
"You killed my mother!" She exchanged punches left and right. "You killed my friends!"
Alesia received the punches but quickly covered her face with her two arms. The damage was negated but she still received some nevertheless. Between the time of two punches, Alesia slipped her hand and grabbed Maya's collar. She pulled Maya's face and headbutted Maya's nose. The attack cracked her nose and stunned her considerably. Maya moved away from her enemy and touched the aching nose. Maya fell down to her bottom and Alesia made her counterattack, pursuing Maya with her knee hitting precisely on the covered nose. Breaking her nose even though her hand was covering it. The sound of it breaking could be heard clearly and hurt as much as it sounded.
"You never saw your mother!!" Alesia kneed Maya's nose again, creating a bloody mess on her whole face.
The pain was immense, the desperation could not be measured. Maya used her powers and lifted Alesia up again. She was paralyzed as a small singularity caged her. Maya launched her away in a direction, her body crashing through the trees. Alesia went so far that Maya could not see her among the thick forest.
"Aw fuck…" Maya breathed through her mouth. Her face was covered in blood from her nose.
Maya pushed herself up with the other hand. Maya began to run to the last direction of Alesia, where the leaves and trees were disturbed, that's where she went. Then at the end of the trail, where the trees no longer disturbed. Alesia was nowhere to be seen. Maya focused on her Nonua, her eyes turned blue. She peered left and right, far and close. No matter how much effort she put in, no trace at all. Alesia has vanished from thin air.
Her eyes returned to normal. "Where the hell are you Alesia…." She grumbled.
"Your friend Red said that he taught you about The Siren Society. Back in my day, we never had Searchers." Maya heard Alesia's voice with such clarity. "But we do have the Salisula. Searchers in our language is Salisula. Which also can be translated to Hunters. It's nice to hear that the Siren Hunters got a good rebranding."
"Come out!" Maya looking at her surroundings.
Among the trees, hidden in the leaves, two striking eyes peeking at Maya. Alesia was hidden well and was out of sight, she could see the back of Maya. Her black Channels were no longer there, thus Maya could not sense her. Like a tiger, Alesia decided to crawl back and repositioned to someplace else.
"Stop talking and fight me!" Loudly, Maya said.
"You're on borrowed time Child, why should I fight you?" Alesia replied.
"Said the one that is running away."
A pebble landed on the back of Maya's head. Maya reacted and facing back but there was no one there.
"Quiet child. Class in session. It's time for you to hear the truth about your race."
Maya growled and continued searching. "Talk all you want, it means nothing from a terrorist."
"Did you know how we conquered The Sirenos Segmentum? Sirens may have powers but numbers are not in our favour. We can't wage war with small numbers. Sirens are peaceful because we don't have a choice. We don't wage war, we assimilate.
Maya was hit with a pebble again, this time landed on her brow and it hurts. Maya used her powers by throwing a blue orb to a tree that destroyed it into small pieces. But there was no trace of Alesia.
"We married into the most powerful tribe and granted them children. When the second generation came, we started to revise history. By the fourth or fifth generation, we already seize power by convincing them that we are The Truth. I wonder what's the name of the temple where Akari died?"
Maya paused and stood straight. Not sure what she was listening to but it made her think. The Temple of Truth…
"Repeat the process again and again sure enough The Siren Race conquered three planets and more. Tell me child, how do you maintain an empire with three planets?"
"Tithes." Maya answered the question.
"No." Alesia came out from hiding and stood far away from Maya. "We had a corporation in our Society. Do you know what we sold?"
"Religion?" Maya stared at Alesia.
"Women. Our own women." Alesia stated plainly. "Go to any planet, if there's a man, he needs a woman. So our race sold wives and whores. We got a lot of Minoris, why not make a profit?"
Maya threw a blue orb and Alesia rolled to the side. Evading the attack that had destroyed another tree behind her.
"There's nothing wrong with it." Alesia began to approach Maya. "A woman who sold women, empowering womankind. So nobody cared, our Society continued making profit. Our customers continue to enjoy our products. Your race is the biggest sex trafficker in the planetary system. Akari didn't tell you about that? There's no such thing as equality in Pa Susei Siren."
Maya dashed to Alesia and slapped her. "Shut your mouth!"
Alesia turned her head and looked at Maya. "Hard to believe but I was there when The Society existed. That's how the Majoris maintained power. Enslaving the Minoris, for the benefit of Majoris, for our Siren Society."
"Shut up!" Maya slapped Alesia again.
Alesia received the slap and stared at Maya again. "Akari called me a terrorist? Why should I care what a sex trafficker says? "
Eyes grow wide, Maya took a step back. She focused on her power, ready to kill Alesia. "Times up Alesia."
"Look at your Channels." Alesia pointed with her chin.
Maya looked at her Channels. The blue hue slowly faded away and began to change into a gold colour. Even the marks started to morph into a different pattern. Her body shivered, something was happening to her body. Maya put her palm on her chest. Her vision became grey.
"What did you do to me?" Maya looked at Alesia.
"Why don't you ask Akari?" Alesia walked backwards and stayed away.
Maya collapsed to the ground. Her heart stopped.
