Afterword
You have reached this far thus I would like to personally say thank you. Thank you very much and I love you for waiting, reading, following and liking this story. Guess we have something in common. We both love Borderlands. May God bless your soul and thank you again.
Alright that's the short version. I wrote 70 freaking Chapters, might as well write a longer afterword.
To be honest, I have already finished a lot of the chapters and could've just posted it. Yet I don't think it is fitting. I think the readers would enjoy a bulk climax rather than inconsistent snippets that lead to the ending. So I just finished a chapter and went on writing the next one till chapter 70 then updated it.
So what was originally set for 40 Chapters turned to 70. Another 10 than it would double the previous one. I'm quite proud of myself to be honest, holy God, 70 Chapters!
But there's a catch. I had a target to achieve 80k word count (a standard length novel). So whenever I write, I make sure of the words... well... count. Now, with more than 100k words, certainly I overachieved but I might have sacrificed quality because of it. I have to admit, I put a lot of filler and for that I'm sorry. I think in terms of quality, this story is one of my worst written.
So to fellow writers, I do believe having a word count limit is reasonable as long as you don't cut important information.
Throughout 2023, I was busy with work but also personal loss. My beloved Grandmother and dear Father passed away within a year so that certainly pushed back the writing far back than I planned. Losing two of your loved ones in succession is not an easy thing. I believe I have to take my time and go through the deep sadness and so I did.
After going through grief and looking back to the memories, be it good or bad, I return to writing with a new objective.
To finish what I started in honour of two important individuals in my life. Without them emphasising reading and focusing on education, I don't think this story would exist. Heck, I would not even know English without them expecting high grades every year. God, I miss them.
So to my beloved Grandmother and dear Father, I love you both with all my heart. I pray that God is Merciful to both of you. Indeed, He is The Most Merciful and Most Loving.
I dedicate this story to you both.
With that finish, I have completed another story. It might not be perfect but finishing a story is a place that I wish to share with every writer out there. It's great. In the end, the story that we have in our mind shall remain until we write it out of system.
So fellow writers, write on!
C'ya Mates and hopefully we meet again.
