Chapter:29 Letting the Sparks Fly
Back in the Emerald Forest, all was peaceful. The birds chirping, the wind whispering, and the soft sounds of insects.
What could go wrong?
BANG!
"Run!"
A lot.
"Move it!" Blue yelled as the group are running away from a horde of Grimms.
They just have woken and were about to leave for their last objective with their equipments already packed, but they were ambushed when they were about to leave.
"Nora! Blast them!" Jaune called out to the only ginger in the group as Nora looked behind her and aimed her weapon at the horde before firing a volley of grenades at them.
They blew up on impact, almost clearing off a quarter of the horde. Red followed suite by grabbing four of his volatile vials and threw it behind him.
The blast from four vials almost destroyed half of the horde but more still comes for them.
"Hurry!" Port called out to them as he points to cave up ahead. "The last station is that way!"
"You got to be kidding me!" Green yelled in outrage as everyone felt the same when they hurriedly go to the cave.
Red quickly ran ahead of the group before standing in front of the cave entrance and fired his grapples to a nearby tree. Everyone immediately went inside the cave and Red began to pull his tethers really hard, the trees uprooted from the force as they sail towards the cave entrance before blocking the Grimms out while keeping the group in.
Red then sigh as he grabbed his Scroll, turned on its flashlight before heading back to the group.

The group are now walking through the cave, water dripping from the ceiling and echoes when it hits the floor.
Green slips a bit but she quickly recovered and looked really annoyed.
"This really sucks," The brunette said as she keeps up with the rest.
"Well that's your problem," Blue said to her as he keeps moving forward.
"This isn't how you treat a lady!" Green yelled at him.
"Oh! Don't be so overdramatic. The control station is just up ahead. We will be going home soon enough."
"We better, I want to have a nice bath after staying in the forest for three days straight!"
"Could've said it better," Weiss said in agreement.
"Now, now. Worry about that later, we're nearing our objective," Port said.
"Ready all of your weapons," Surge said as everyone drew their weapons, readying themselves for a potential battle.
They then entered a huge cavern with the control station in the middle, everyone watched every corner as they held on to their weapons tightly. Port soon walk over to the station and began its repair while everyone else began to secure the perimeter.
Red was then partnered up with Green as they look around the southern part of the cavern.
"Hey Red," Green said as the cap wearing teen looked at her. "I began to notice that some of us are talking about you and Sabrina. Any reasons why?"
Red just groans as another one had to also ask as well, so he collects himself and said, "Like I said with the rest, I'll tell when this is over."
"Oh no. You're telling me this now," Green said adamantly with a glare. "You looked so distracted since yesterday and you were almost surrounded before we escaped the horde outside, so tell me. NOW."
Red just sneers as he looks at her and said, "Look, its none of your business. Let's just finish this mission and-"
"Don't give me that bullshit Red!" She yelled at him, not loud even for everyone to hear but enough to make her point. "Not only were you so distracted, you were also trying to push people away because of it! One problem after the other, I really hate seeing it on your face. Not only me but everyone else!"
Red was taken aback by this and was completely ashamed of himself for worrying the others.
Green seem to calm down a bit and said, "So can you please tell me? Please, for your own sake."
Red was reluctant at first till he began to notice the worried stares from the rest of the group.
"Can we do this somewhere no one could hear?" Red asked as the brunette nods and the both of them went somewhere more private in the cavern.
As they reach somewhere they believe could give them some space, the two began to talk.
"So what's wrong?" Green asked with her arms crossed. "There is something more between you and Sabrina isn't there?"
Red just groans before letting out a sigh.
"Sabrina..." Red took a deep breathe before continuing. "... is my ex."
Green just look at him in shock as this was just so sudden.
"You serious? How in the world did you fall for her?!" She questioned him while yelling a bit.
"It... was kinda forced," Red admitted in embarrassment. "But we did manage it for a while till... something happened between us."
"And that is?" She asked.
"She began to stalk me," He said as Green was more shocked. "There are so many times that I've caught her watching my back that I decided to break up with her after two years, and... it didn't end well."
"Please don't tell me that she tries to kill you?"
...
"Are you kidding me?!"
"Yeah. Last I heard about it, she has to stay away from me indefinitely, so she was constantly sent to missions to do that but it doesn't really help with her mental state."
"You think?" Of course, Green have heard of this during her time in the family. She even saw Sabrina being restrained in a straitjacket when the Psychic tried to disobey and went on a hysterical fit when she was caught.
"But the thing is, I still loved her," Red admitted again as the brunette looked at her.
"Red."
"I know! I know! We did broke up but a part of me still loves her. I love Yellow but a part of me still loves Sabrina. I just don't know what to do."
Red was literally holding his head, clearly irritated while grinding his teeth.
Green immediately grabbed his shoulder and shook him out of it.
"Focus Red!" Green yelled at him as she stops shaking him. She took a moment to process all of this and proceeds to talk with her leader. "Look. While I couldn't understand your situation, but you shouldn't hurt yourself because of this. Yes, you are in love with both of them, but you are with Yellow now. If she doesn't accept it, then Sabrina have to suck it in and accept. If she doesn't, make her understand."
Red took it all in as he took a deep breathe.
"You're right, but…" He still looked conflicted as Green just held his shoulder.
"Red, stop worrying too much. Just make her understand, that is all in the past. You need to have a clear head and lead us. Okay?" She said as Red took another deep breathe.
"Okay," Red said as the brunette nods.
"Good. Now let's go back with the others."
(End Music)
As they were about to leave, they began to hear gunshots followed by some screaming. The two look at each other before running back to the others.

It was so sudden.
Bang!
Grimms came out of nowhere and the group weren't prepared for it.
Bang! Bang!
"Where are they!" Blue yelled as he was pushing back a Beowolf with his weapon in its sword form.
"I don't know, just hold the line!" Jaune yelled as he cuts off the head of a Creep with his sword.
The group was simply patrolling the area before the Grimm attacked in unexpected numbers, they were caught off guard at the amount as they try everything to kill them all.
Ruby, Weiss, and Surge are firing at the horde while Sabrina uses her Semblance to create some walls between them. The rest are in the frontline to push them away while Port continued fixing the station with beats of sweat rolling down his forehead.
Red and Green soon arrived and quickly joined the fray.
The cap wearing teen jumped over the head of a Beowolf and immediately grabbed its head, with the momentum that he was going, he spun in the air and ripped the head of the Beowolf off its body. He then towards an Ursa and crushed its head when he uses it as a platform and he was soon by Blue's side.
"Where were you?!" His friend demanded as he fired another shot at a charging Creep.
"Green and I had to talk a bit, had to clear some things from my head!" He said as he pulled in a Boarbatusk and smashed its face in.
"Sorry about that!" The brunette said as she was now with the group, she is currently blocking a Abnormal Beowolf from attacking Yellow, the blonde then leaps over her and struck the Abnormal Grimm at its eyes, shocking and killing it in the process.
"Let's just get this over it and leave!" Yang yelled as she smashes an Ursa to the ground.
The group continued their stand while the Grimm persist on their push.
Red shot out one of his tethers and grabbed an Ursa by the neck, he then swung the Grimm around, using it as a massive wrecking ball to smash the other Grimms. The others easily avoid this as he then brought the Ursa in the air and then harshly pull on the tethers to forcefully send it to an Abnormal Creep, killing those around it from the impact.
Blue keeps parrying the attacks of a Beowolf, his sight never leaving his foe as his metal met its claws. A Boarbatusk charged him from the left as Blue got a quick glance on it before returning his gaze on the Beowolf; as it was getting closer, the Beowolf pounce at him again but Blue jumps back and let the two collide. He then switched his weapon to its rifle mode and killed the two with a single bullet, he then continued firing as more Grimms ran over to them.
Green is madly swinging her weapon around, it was strengthened by her Semblance as each swing easily cut through a Boarbatusk. An Abnormal Creep then ran up to her as it let out a roar, the brunette saw this as she quickly switch her weapon to its shield form and planted it on the ground. The Creep rammed itself on the shield and blew up on impact, Green stood strong as she quickly switch her weapon back to its sword form and decapitated an Ursa on her left.
Yellow is blitzing through the horde, striking them with electrified finger jabs which paralyze the Grimms and easily killed off by the others. When she saw a Creep charging at Ruby, she blitz straight for it and struck it down with a drop kick and launched it away. As she landed, an Abnormal Beowolf rushed at her but she disappeared then reappeared above it, her hands is covered in electricity as she grasp its head and let it all out. It howls in pain till it's dead body was now charred, she then used it as a platform, destroying it in the process, and hit an Ursa with a devastating spin kick.
Ruby shreds every single Grimm that comes at her, she cut down every single Grimm that rushes at her with her weapon and uses her Semblance to get away. When is in a better distance, she would fire some shots to take down those who tries to attack the group from behind then reappeared in the frontline again to continue pushing back the horde.
Weiss fired multiple Ice Dust towards their adversaries as each of them were frozen in place when hit, she then switched ammo and fired Fire Dust to blow them away. A Boarbatusk charge at her but she immediately switched to her Ice Dust and created a slippery surface around her, she used this to slide around as the Boarbatusk loose traction and being taken care of by the rest of the group, she then continued to create more ice and slide her way across the cave and continously fired multiple varieties of Dust.
Like a shadow, Blake slips through the Grimm and struck them down when they didn't notice her yet, she was quick and agile that they didn't have enough time to attack till their heads were cut off or they were bisected. She continued running around the area, cutting down any Grimms that comes at her away and would immediately evade an incoming attack due to her heightened senses.
Yang was the oppsite, each punch that she would deliver would create bright and powerful explosions that tear into the enemy ranks, a Boarbatusk's armor broke under her fists, a Beowolf was blown into pieces with a single punch, and an Ursa couldn't bear (Yang: Ha!) the incoming blast from her hits. When a Grimm was further away, she would punch the air and fired burst of Fire Dust, which made the explosions, and further destroy more of the horde.
Jaune swings his blade with great accuracy, cutting down those who charged at him, and used his shield to block any attack that comes at him. Seeing that there were no Grimms around him, Jaune put back Croceo Mors and drew out his spear. Using his weapon's long reach, he kept his distance with the Grimms and would occasionally slash or pierce them with its pointed end. If Grimm surrounded him, he would twirl his weapon to keep them at bay and would use the confusion to vault over them and killing some of them along the way.
Pyrrha was doing as Jaune did, using her sword to attack and used her shield to defend. Cutting down those who charged at her and deflect their attacks with her shield. a Boarbatusk charge at her and she quickly switch her weapon to its spear mode, as the rolling Grimm comes closer, she quickly moved out of the way and pierced through its open sides. The redhead would then move away as her weapon change to its third form: a rifle. She began to fire some shots at the horde, shooting down those who were close and would use her shield to defend herself.
Nora is letting out a jovial laugh as she smashes any Grimm in sight with her hammer. Using the weight of her weapon, she uses the momentum to increase the power of her strikes while doing some quick hits to stun them and would deliver a devastating blow. She would then press the button to her weapon to give her a massive boost that destroys an Abnormal Beowolf with the force that she generated.
Ren was less destructive than Nora but he made some progress. Using both his speed and Semblance, he would shoot down any Grimms that he came across before they could react while hiding his presence from them with his Semblance. He would sometimes use the blade of his weapon to cripple the Grimms so the others can deal with them, and would sometimes use his fists to stun them with pin point accuracy then shooting them.
Justt near Port, Surge has one gun in one hand and a knife in ther other. He used his knife to take down any Grimms that came close to him, his gun would put a hole in another. A Beowolf charge at him but he immediately put three bullet holes on it before it lay on the ground dead.
Lastly, Sabrina is using her Semblance to create massive stone barriers, she would then use her Semblance to grabe any Grimms that manage to get close and either smash them on the walls and floors or twisting them as if they are paper.
As the battle keeps proceeding, Port was almost done with the repairs when a Boarbatusk manage to pass the group and tackled him to the ground. He managed to draw out his weapon and killed it with a buckshot, the rotund Professor quickly stood up and continued the repairs.
And with a single press of a button, it was now complete.
"We're done!" Port called out to the team.
"You heard the man, let's move!" Surge called out to the rest.
"Yang! Help me make a way over there!" Red called out to the blonde to one of the tunnels.
"You got it!" She quickly followed his lead.
"Move! Move! Move!" Everyone eventually began their escape as the two brawlers were in front to make a safe way for them to go through.
Both of them would push, punch, and even crush any Grimn that comes their way and they wouldn't just stop doing it so they could have the advantage. Those with long range weapons gave them more opportunities to push while those who prefer close range combat would help them as they rest.
They then entered the one of the tunnles as they continued their escape while the Grimms chases them down.
The faster members of the group were ahead while those who are slower push back the Grimm away from their escape route. Green would use her shield to block them off while Surge and Red help pushing them back. They slowly walk through the tunnels while the rest continued to run while some stayed back to help the three whenever they needed it. This consist of Yellow, Blue, Sabrina, Jaune, and Pyrrha.
A Beowolf tried to make its way through the shield bit was immediately shot by Blue.
"Red, blow them up already!" Green yelled at her leader as the Grimm keeps pushing.
"My hands are busy here!" Red yelled back as he knew that she meant the explosive vials that he carries around but he and Surge were completely occupied at the moment.
(End Music)
Suddenly, the ceiling above the Grimms caved in as the three of them back away from the rubble then looked behind them, directly at Sabrina.
"Just blow them up and let's get out of here," The psychic said as she then walks away.
The others just look at each other as Red grabbed one of his vials then looked at the rubble, which is being moved by the Grimms from the other side. The others quickly ran before Red throwing the vial at the rubble and followed the rest outside.
Just outside the caves, the others are now resting as they wait for the Bullhead.
BOOM!
A powerful explosion came out of the tunnels as the remaining members of the group just came out of it.
"Man, glad that is over," Red said as he let out a few coughs.
"I just want to go back to Beacon," Jaune said as lay on the ground, tired. Everyone else also felt the same.
"I already miss my bed," Yang said.
"Don't worry students, we will go back to Beacon soon. Let's just set up camp till the Bullheads arrives," Port said as everyone then began to stand up so they can set up camp.
It was now night time as Red is currently outside stargazing, he was really deep in thought after everything. He just let out a sigh as he continued to look at the bright spots in the night sky till a small pebble hit him on the face. He looked to where it came from and saw Sabrina sitting on a large rock just a few feet away from him.
"What are you doing out here?" Red asked her as she just sat there looking at him.
"I could say the same to you, darling~" She said with a teasing smile on her face as a small blush appear on his face. But her face soon turned serious. "But let's take this seriously, make me understand."
He was confused at first till he realized that she was eavesdropping through their minds, he could put his face on his hands and groans and he could've sworn that he heard a snort. Yep, she was reading their minds alright.
He then took a deep breathe and said, "If you really listened to what we were talking about then you must have heard how I still have some affection for you."
She didn't answer but she looked away and that was enough of an answer for him.
"Then you know that I would not just simply come back to you after what happened. Right?" He said as Sabrina nods in understanding.
"Correct."
"So you must now understand that due to that, we can't be together."
"But I changed."
"Do you?"
"... Yes."
"Sabrina, I heard that you scared off your seventh therapist last year."
"Alright just a bit."
"But is that enough after what happened during that mission," Red said, Sabrina knowing what he meant as she looks down a bit.
"I am trying."
"And there ain't any progress, so there's no way that we are going back."
Then he heard crying as she saw Sabrina tearing up a bit.
"If that is how you feel then I understand," She said as she wipes off her tears and left to go back to their tent.
Back with Red, he now feel really guilty hurting her. If there was a way to end this happily, without going over the top, then he would've taken it instead of going through this. Alas, he just let out an annoyed sigh and went back to their tent.
And that is it for this chapter!
Man, this was quite exhausting. Following the game, that I never played, is difficult than following the show. The game is still part of the story and this gives me a chance to do some character development.
This volume if mine will cover the entire game, but not entirely. I'm not sure how I would go with this but I might make this work.
There is still some things to do so let's get on with it and I'll see you guys in the next chapter.
