Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai

Chapter Two-hundred and seventy-eight: A legendary battle

The reborn trainers were in the Sinnoh region, over on the island where the Lily of the Valley Conference took place. That Conference, the stadium in which is was held, held a lot of memories for Dawn. It is where she had become the Champion of Sinnoh by besting Cynthia in an official title match, doing here what she (Dawn) had done in the video games in her past life. She even used the same party she had used in both Pearl and Shining Pearl.

But now, the Lily of the Valley Conference stadium was going to be where Kenny and Trip were due to have the last battle either of them would have in the current season of the World Coronation Series. A battle they would fight against one another. This battle was meant by the people running the World Coronation Series to hype up the Masters Eight tournament as much as possible; the cutoff point for getting into the Masters Eight had passed, so there was no real value to this battle as Kenny and Trip would not be able to get into the Masters Eight.

But the people running the World Coronation Series still wanted this battle to be a big one, and as such they were asking the two boys to use as many of their respective legendary and mythical Pokémon as possible. This, normally a questionable thing as the boys were being asked to use specific Pokémon instead of whatever they felt like, was because as previously stated the people who were running things wanted to draw in as many viewers as possible.

The previous season of the World Coronation Series had a very low average viewership rating, some even arguing the worst in modern history. Although a Pokémon competition, the World Coronation Series is ALSO a televised event, meaning that the people running the show wanted to up ratings as much as possible because their income from the matter depends on it. It's a business thing, plain and simple. Although it still gave Dawn cause for worry.

She remembers back when Kenny and Trip battled one another in the first Manalo Conference back in Alola, and they used three Pokémon each in an all legendary Pokémon battle. Dawn had every reason to suspect that the boys would wreck the stadium the Manalo Conference was being held in, what with how fierce their battle raged. And said battle only saw Kenny and Trip use three Pokémon each; the battle they'll have here will see them use SIX Pokémon each.

All of them straight from lore itself. Dawn feared that the Lily of the Valley Conference stadium wasn't going to be standing by the time the legendary battle between Kenny and Trip was finished.

The reborn trainers had arrived early, mostly to get in training. It wasn't just Kenny and Trip training for their battle, Dawn was also prepping as she was taking part in the Masters Eight tournament. She not only is among the eight trainers officially ranked as the top eight strongest in the world, but she's at the absolute top as the current Monarch. Dawn didn't necessarily want the Monarch title, she had to take it for various reasons, but that doesn't mean she won't fight to defend it.

And she did have to work on the training for Khan, her named Mewtwo. It was Mina who came upon Dawn and Khan training in a wooded area on Lily of the Valley Island. "Alright, blast that large rock over there with Psystrike," Dawn said as she pointed at a rock.

Khan nodded once before conjuring a Psystrike attack and casting it at the rock in question, blasting it into oblivion. Nodding once in approval, Dawn said while pointing at a tree, "Good, now hit that tree with Shadow Ball." Once more Khan obeyed, blasting the tree with a Shadow Ball attack. So far the named Mewtwo's attacks were looking solid and firm. Pointing to a lake, Dawn went on, "Now use Flamethrower on the surface of the lake there."

Khan took aim and fired a Flamethrower breath weapon at the surface of the lake, showing mastery over the attack similar to the first two. "Good, all of your new attacks look solid," Dawn said.

"Why have Khan attack rocks and trees and a lake?" Mina asked, making Dawn and Khan both turn to see that Mina was there.

"Well Khan needed targets to attack, and there's no harm in hitting stuff out in nature," Dawn replied, "Also using Flamethrower on a lake surface helps to keep it contained so a fire doesn't spread." Looking to Mina, Dawn asked, "What's up?"

"I just got off a call with the girls we know in Alola," Mina said, "In the couple of days since we got here since leaving Alola, Serena has lost a few pounds while working out under Ash's supervision."

"Well alright," Dawn remarked. The reborn trainers were surprised to see that Serena had gained a mild but notable bit of weight when they last saw her in Alola, a result of all the malasada she got from being a spokesperson for the malasada shop. But now Serena was on the path to getting back into shape, and Ash would be seeing her work that path all the way, getting her weight loss regimen in while he trained his Pokémon for the Masters Eight tournament.

The fact Serena had lost a few pounds already, despite it being roughly a week since things there started, shows not only dedication on Serena's part, but the fact Ash clearly knows what he's doing. He had the makings of being an effective weight loss coach. But that wasn't the point. Looking to Mina, Dawn asked, "Why did you come looking for me?"

"The battle between Kenny and Trip will be in an hour," Mina began, "I figured you'd want to know."

"You could have called me," Dawn pointed out, "But thanks anyway." Dawn gave Khan a few Leppa Berries as she said, "You ought to watch the battle Kenny and Trip are going to have, Khan. It will be a good learning experience."

"Very well," Khan replied, speaking telepathically. The named Mewtwo proceeded to follow Dawn and Mina out of the wooded area to get ready to watch a battle that was going to be nothing short of legendary.

About an hour later at the Lily of the Valley Conference stadium, the seats were packed as Kenny and Trip stood apart from one another, each on opposite ends of the battlefield in the arena. Dawn and Mina, with Khan sitting at Dawn's side, were in a special VIP viewing room that let them watch the battle that was about to unfold. The battle was going to be fierce, a contest that was bound to be nothing short of legendary.

Down in the arena, a human referee began to announce the battle; Dawn was surprised a human referee was being used here as opposed to a Rotom Drone. But then again this battle, despite being an Ultra Class battle, was very important to the people running the World Coronation Series so as to get viewership up as much as possible. It made sense that the Committee wanted to have a more human (i.e. direct) hand in running things here.

"This official Ultra Class battle in the World Coronation Series will see Kenny Harris face Trip Berlitz!" the referee announced, "It will be a full battle, single style, substitutions are allowed at any time, and the last trainer with any Pokémon that can still battle will be declared the winner!" The crowds were cheering loudly, and Dawn looking at Mina could tell she was happy to not be directly exposed to so many people all at once.

"Now then..." the referee said. Quickly raising a hand, the referee announced, "BEGIN!"

"Okay, Venoct!" Kenny called out as he sent in his named Suicune, "Let's make it cringe!"

"Alright, Kaiba!" Trip said as he sent out his Heatran, "Let's rock it!"

As the battle began, Mina up in the VIP room said, "Trip finally named his Heatran, huh?"

Dawn nodded once in the affirmative. "Kenny and Trip, while training to battle one another, had named the legendary Pokémon they both caught while we were catching all of Sinnoh's lore in order to wind up meeting Arceus. We put naming them on hold until after Arceus was met, and it sort of slipped our minds up until we began our training."

Down in the arena, Kenny with an amused smirk called out, "Venoct, use Surf!"

"Kaiba that's enough, get back!" Trip said as he swapped his Pokémon around, "Alright, Cameron! Let's rock it!" Taking the place of Trip's named Heatran was his named Kyogre, who immediately underwent Primal Reversion and became Primal Kyogre, thus bringing darkened skies and strong rains with its Primordial Sea ability. Venoct's Surf, although powered up by the rain, did very little to the named Primal Kyogre.

Now it was Trip's turn to smirk. "Cameron, use Thunder!" Kenny's eyes went wide with alarmed worry as Cameron conjured and cast a massive, wicked bolt of lightning that struck Venoct, making it cry out in great pain. It was only due to the sheer bulk that Suicune has compared to the other members of its trio, combined with a lot of luck as well as Venoct toughing it out, that it didn't go down to Cameron's Thunder. But Venoct wouldn't be able to take another attack.

That was probably why Kenny decided to sac Venoct so that he'd have a clean switch in, fighting on with Venoct with the intent of Trip finishing it off, which Trip did via having Cameron use Thunderbolt. "Suicune is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Kyogre!" The audience, although being rained on, cheered wildly as Trip scored the first knock out. Dawn, Mina, and Khan who were protected from the rain could see that the battle was only getting started.

"Your power is great, but it shall fall to cringe in due time!" Kenny declared to Trip down in the arena after recalling his fainted Suicune. Sending out his next Pokémon, Kenny called out, "Okay, Armstrong! Let's make it cringe!" The next Pokémon that Kenny sent out was his Regigigas, who he got from the family of the late Pyramid King Brandon after they inherited all he left behind after he was killed in a Team Scorn scheme.

Seeing Kenny's named Regigigas, Trip said, "Armstrong, huh?"

"The name of a certain legendary senator," Kenny said, "Who vouched for the virtues of truth, justice, and nanomachines son!" Pointing forward, Kenny called out, "Armstrong, use Crush Grip!" Kenny then began singing a song that saw him begin by shouting, "RULES OF NATURE!"

"Well due to Regigigas having Slow Start," Trip began, "I should have time to-" Trip was cut off when the named Regigigas cried out in a bellowing roar, before it ran in a straight line at Cameron, very clearly NOT bothered by Slow Start. The way that Senator Regigigas ran stomping right at Cameron made the named Primal Kyogre go wide eyed and cry out as if saying, 'Oh shit!'. Trip also had such a reaction, although he didn't verbalize any cursing.

Cameron barely had a scratch as it took Venoct's Surf, so Armstrong's Crush Grip dealt a rather considerable chunk of damage, which further showed that the rules of nature allowed for the named Regigigas to shake off the shackles of Slow Start. Gritting his teeth a bit, Trip called out, "Cameron, use Surf!"

"Armstrong, use Thunder Punch!" Kenny called out.

The exchange of attacks saw both legendary Pokémon take heavy blows, with Cameron getting closer to defeat and Armstrong pushed back. But Armstrong, believing war is good for the economy, would not be bested yet. "Armstrong, use Thunder Punch again!" Kenny called out. The named Regigigas ran forward again and slugged Cameron across its Primal Reversion face with a very staggering Thunder Punch.

So staggering was that Thunder Punch that it knocked Cameron out of Primal Reversion, and even knocked Cameron out entirely. "Kyogre is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Regigigas!" The audience cheered as Kenny scored a knock out, and the heavy rains lifted more or less immediately after Cameron was bested.

Kenny and Trip had five Pokémon each left, which meant that the battle was far from over. After recalling his fainted Kyogre, Trip sent his next Pokémon out with a cry of, "Alright, Rogers! Let's rock it!" Trip's next Pokémon was his named Zamazenta, in its Crowned Shield form which meant that even Senator Regigigas would have trouble bringing the pain as Crowned Rogers was boasting very considerable defenses.

Pointing forward, Trip called out, "Rogers, use Body Press!"

"Armstrong, use Earthquake!" Kenny ordered.

The named Regigigas triggered a massive quake that shook the battlefield, striking the named Zamazenta with seismic waves and doing some super effective damage. But Rogers would not be bested by that, and went on to jump up and slam its body down into Armstrong, doing a lot of damage as Rogers has very high defense. Armstrong was close to going down, but Kenny planned to soften the named Zamazenta up for his next Pokémon.

"Armstrong, use Earthquake again!" Kenny ordered.

"Rogers, use Body Press again!" Trip commanded.

The two Pokémon of legend repeated their prior exchange of blows, but it ended with Armstrong going down in battle. "Regigigas is unable to battle," the referee announced as the crowds erupted into cheers, "The winner is Zamazenta!"

Up in the VIP room, Mina said, "Kenny's trailing behind. It's his four to Trip's five." It was clear by the tone she spoke with that Mina was worried.

"Kenny's looking like he may try to bait Trip out to score a knock out," Dawn said, "But will Trip fall for the bait?"

Down in the arena, Kenny sent out his next Pokémon with a cry of, "Okay, Porunga! Let's make it cringe!" Coming out to battle was Kenny's named Zygarde. Pointing forward, Kenny called out, "Porunga, use-"

"Rogers that's enough, get back!" Trip said as he swapped his Pokémon around, "Alright, Alucard! Let's rock it!" Trip made a switch to take out his worn out Zamazenta and send in the fresh Lunala. With its ability available, Lunala can tank any attack. And as it knows Moonblast, Alucard will be a vital component to Trip winning against Kenny here.

As such, Trip went wide eyed with alarm when Kenny called out, "-Crunch!"

The named Zygarde rushed in and bit down hard on the named Lunala, eliciting a pained cry. Even with its Shadow Shield, Alucard was hit hard as it took a times four super effective attack. And with Shadow Shield no longer useful as Alucard took damage, the next Crunch was not going to be all that friendly. Gesturing forward, Trip called out, "Alucard, use Moonblast!"

"Porunga, use Crunch!" Kenny commanded.

Porunga was blasted hard by Moonblast, and another one would lay it low. But it was able to fight through and bite down hard on Alucard, who gritted on through. Both legendary Pokémon would go down to one more attack each, and both boys, wanting a clean switch in, decided to just sac the Pokémon that they had out.

After another Moonblast from Alucard and another Crunch from Porunga, both of them went down in battle. "Both Zygarde and Lunala are unable to battle!" the referee announced, "This is a double knock-out!" The crowds went wild as the legendary battle raged on, with Kenny and Trip calling back Porunga and Alucard respectively. After that, the two boys sent out their next Pokémon so as to continue their battle.

"Alright, Tetsu!" Trip said as he sent out his named Xerneas, "Let's rock it!"

"Okay, Zamasu!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Necrozma, "Let's make it cringe!"

Gesturing forward, Trip called out, "Tetsu, use Moonblast!"

"Zamasu, use Flash Cannon!" Kenny ordered, drawing a surprised look out of Trip.

Tetsu conjured and cast its Moonblast attack at the same time Zamasu conjured and cast its Flash Cannon. The Flash Cannon pierced through the Moonblast, going on to strike right into the named Xerneas and deal a lot of damage. But masses from the busted Moonblast fell into and struck Zamasu, doing some damage as well. But it was clear that Tetsu, who took a super effective hit and suffered a special defense drop for it, was worse for wear.

Gesturing forward, Kenny called out, "Zamasu, use Flash Cannon!"

"Tetsu that's enough, get back!" Trip called out as he swapped his Pokémon around, "Alright, Deelia! Let's rock it!" Coming out in place of the named Xerneas was the named Dialga, who took the Flash Cannon from Zamasu far better than Tetsu could have, although Deelia also suffered a drop to its special defense stat. Gesturing forward, Trip called out, "Deelia, use Ice Beam!"

"Zamasu, use Dragon Pulse!" Kenny ordered.

The two legendary Pokémon fired their attacks at one another, with both taking some heat as a result. But to Kenny's alarm, his named Necrozma was frozen as a result of the Ice Beam. "Deelia, use Flash Cannon!" Trip ordered.

"Zamasu, get out of the ice and use Dragon Pulse!" Kenny commanded. Zamasu was able to get out of the ice and use Dragon Pulse, but only after getting hit by Deelia's Flash Cannon, suffering a drop to its special defense for it, as the Flash Cannon busted the ice away. But Deelia was able to avoid the Dragon Pulse for the most part, taking only a grazing hit. But Trip knew better than to dismiss a grazing hit as nothing, as every point of damage counted in a Pokémon battle.

The fact both he and Kenny were using nothing but legendary Pokémon didn't change that.

Wanting to end things quickly and seeing that Zamasu was reeling still, Trip called out, "Deelia, use Flash Cannon!"

"Zamasu, use Dragon Pulse!" Kenny commanded.

The named Dialga was just a shade quicker, able to conjure and cast its Flash Cannon before the named Necrozma was able to properly right itself up. As such, Zamasu was blasted and sent flying back, skidding on the ground after hitting it. When the skidding came to a stop, the dust had to settle before everyone saw that Zamasu was defeated. "Necrozma is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Dialga!"

At this point in the battle, Kenny who recalled his fainted Necrozma had only two Pokémon left to Trip's four. But three were worn out, and the last one while fresh was dual fire steel; Black as well as Shenron both know Earthquake, so it'd be easy to pick off Trip's Heatran if his three exhausted big boys all go down first. But it'd be a tall order, and Kenny would have to be careful, especially as both of his remaining Pokémon are weak to fairy which is what Xerneas is.

Tossing up an Ultra Ball, Kenny called out, "Okay, Black! Let's make it cringe!" Coming out into battle was Kenny's named Giratina, in its Origin Forme. Gesturing forward, Kenny called out, "Black, use Earthquake!"

"Deelia, use Ice Beam!" Trip called out.

Black triggered a massive quake, shaking the battlefield with seismic waves which struck Deelia and hard. But the named Dialga was able to pull through and fire its Ice Beam at the named Giratina. Black, in its Origin Forme, had lower defenses, so the Ice Beam did more than Kenny would have liked. As Kenny prepared to call his next attack, Trip from what he saw had nothing to lose, and it did look like one serious, super effective hit, on Black would do it.

Luckily for Trip, Deelia had such an answer.

Gesturing forward, Trip ordered, "Deelia, use Roar of Time!"

"Black," Kenny called out, a look of panic on his face, "Use Earthquake!"

As Black moved to use Earthquake, Deelia got back as it charged up its strongest move. When it was ready, the named Dialga took aim and fired its Roar of Time attack, blasting Black right as it got off its Earthquake. Deelia was struck by the seismic waves, and as such it ended up going down. But in return, Black also ended up going down in battle. "Both Dialga and Giratina are unable to battle!" the referee announced, "This is a double knock out!"

The audience roared with hyped up cheers as Kenny and Trip recalled their respective fainted Pokémon. Up in the VIP room, Khan said, "From what I have gathered, trainers can only have up to six Pokémon on hand at any time. I count five of Kenny's six being defeated, but Trip has half of his team left." The named Mewtwo had a look of contemplation in its eyes. "I would say that the odds are favoring Trip."

"On paper yes," Dawn said, "But Pokémon, and the trainers who work with them, are oftentimes a rather unpredictable lot. And Kenny is nothing if not unpredictable."

Down on the battlefield, Kenny and Trip sent out their next Pokémon each, although for Kenny it was his last Pokémon. "Alright. Tetsu!" Trip said as he sent out his named Xerneas, "Let's rock it!"

"Okay, Shenron!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Rayquaza, "Let's make it cringe!" After sending his named Rayquaza out, Kenny held his hands up to the sky, his Mega Ring clearly visible on his left wrist. "Come forth eternal dragon Shenron," Kenny said as he began to trigger the power of Mega Evolution, "And grant my wish!" Kenny's 'prayer' to Rayquaza resonated both with the Mega Ring and Shenron itself, triggering its Mega Evolution, and as such Mega Rayquaza now flew in place in the stadium.

Trip was about to call for Tetsu to attack, but stopped short when strong winds began to blow all around the battlefield and the arena. "The strong winds of Delta Stream will help to protect the eternal dragon," Kenny boasted, "Weakening the impact of damage that would be super effective!"

"But it'll still be super effective!" Trip called out, "Tetsu, use Moonblast!"

"Shenron, use Iron Head!" Kenny commanded.

Tetsu conjured and cast its Moonblast right at Shenron, but the named Mega Rayquaza blasted right through with its head shining like polished metal. Shenron rammed its head into Tetsu's face and hard, sending the named Xerneas reeling back before it fell over onto the battlefield and laid there in defeat. "Xerneas is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Rayquaza!"

As Trip called back his fainted Xerneas, Kenny saw Shenron snarl a bit in pain. It was still hit by Moonblast, so it did take some damage. Kenny knew that he had to be very careful if he wanted to pull off a win here. After Trip called back Tetsu, he sent his named Zamazenta Rogers back out. "Rogers, use Behemoth Bash!" Trip called out.

"Shenron, use Earthquake!" Kenny ordered.

Being faster, Shenron was able to get off its Earthquake attack before it was struck by Roger's Behemoth Bash. Rogers and Shenron both reeled, but the eternal dragon was able to reel itself back into battle. "Shenron, use Earthquake again!" Kenny called out.

"Rogers," Trip commanded, "Use Behemoth Bash!"

Shenron was faster, and Rogers was still reeling a bit, so the named Mega Rayquaza was able to get off another Earthquake that struck Rogers while it tried to recover. The named Zamazenta was thrown back, and after the Earthquake came to an end, everyone saw it as Rogers laid right there on the battlefield, clearly unable to continue. "Zamazenta is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Rayquaza!"

The audience was getting more and more hyped as Trip called back his fainted Zamazenta to send his named Heatran Kaiba back out. Both trainers were now down to one Pokémon each. Shenron looked to be getting worn out while Kaiba was fresh, but as a dual fire steel type, the named Heatran would go down to one good Earthquake, and Shenron despite not getting STAB for Earthquake still boasted a very meaty and impressive physical attack stat. The next attack or two could decide it.

Both boys gestured forward, aiming to end the battle once and for all. "Kaiba," Trip called out, "Use Power Gem!"

"Shenron," Kenny called out, "Use Earthquake!"

The named Mega Rayquaza triggered a massive quake, shaking the battlefield with seismic waves. It got pelted in the side of its face by a Power Gem attack, but the named Heatran who used that move was slammed hard by the seismic waves. Shenron was knocked nearly back to the ground by the Power Gem, more out of annoyance, but Kaiba was thrown back by the Earthquake, and when the shaking came to an end, everyone saw it as Kaiba laid on the battlefield in defeat.

"Heatran is unable to battle!" the referee announced, "The winner is Rayquaza!" Gesturing to Kenny, the referee declared, "Victory of this battle goes to Kenny Harris!"

The audience went wild with excited cheering as the legendary battle finally came to a close. And it was Kenny, who trailed for most of the battle, who came out on top in the end. In the VIP room, Mina jumped up and down in celebration as she saw her boyfriend win. Khan was amazed to see Kenny having overcome such odds. As for Dawn, she figured that Kenny if he won would have been able to pull off an impressive turn around.

Getting Dawn's attention, Khan asked, "Even with such odds against him, Kenny was still able to pull off an impressive victory. Is this an example of the human spirit? Because it's very inspiring." It was clear that Dawn's named Mewtwo was very sincerely impressed with the result of the battle.

Smirking in amusement, Dawn replied, "You can say it's the human spirit, Khan. But if you ask him, Kenny will just say it's the power of cringe."

"Shenron is under half health left?"

At the Pokémon Center on Lily of the Valley Island, where all of Kenny's and Trip's Pokémon are being treated following their legendary battle, Dawn and Mina, with Khan following after Dawn, met up with the boys and learned just how close the battle really was. Kenny, nodding in confirmation, said, "Oh yeah. By the time I won, Shenron was at under half health left, and it's my only Pokémon on hand still able to battle. I'd of most likely been screwed were it not for the winds of Delta Stream."

"Well the main reason behind me and Kenny's battle was to make it as much of a show as possible," Trip said, "To draw in as many viewers at home as possible. The Committee running the World Coronation Series wants to up ratings as much as possible because of how poor the rating of the prior season was." Arching a wry eyebrow, Trip asked, "How did you think Kenny and I did to hype the viewers at home up for the Masters Eight tournament?"

"Word is out that the current season of the World Coronation Series has better ratings than past seasons," Mina said, "And the battle you and Kenny just had has driven ratings to an all time record high. It's estimated that the Masters Eight tournament that's coming up will see the best ratings in all of the World Coronation Series's history."

Dawn nodded in agreement; although it did strike her as odd on some level for the people running things to be concerned with upping ratings, as the World Coronation Series IS a televised event, she could understand why getting ratings up as high as they can go would be important. "Anyway, the only thing left to deal with is the Masters Eight tournament itself," Dawn said.

"A tournament where only the top eight strongest trainers in the world can compete," Kenny said, "A tournament that will see you, Dawn my main man, compete. After all, you are the current Monarch, the top trainer in the world. The others will be gunning for your lofty seat."

Dawn gave a single nod of understanding; she originally got the seat of Monarch of the World Coronation Series mostly due to pressing need, it's not a position Dawn necessarily cares about, especially as she's perfectly happy with just keeping the seat of Champion of Sinnoh. But Dawn will still fight her hardest to defend her position in the World Coronation Series, and with what all that she has at her disposal, Dawn was planning to go all out.

Besides, ending the World Coronation Series with her as the Monarch, the officially ranked number one strongest trainer in the world, would give Dawn more of a reputation that would be useful when it came to intimidating Team Scorn. Having as many edges as possible against that most evil of inter-regional criminal organizations was always a good thing.

(UNKNOWN LOCATION)

A secret base occupied and ran by Team Scorn was bustling with its members. Among the many officers all waiting to head into a meeting room were the respective Admins of the Pocketwatch, Katana, Kunai, Straw-hat, Longsword, Shield, Scarf, Headphones, and lastly Mask Sectors. The heads of all currently identified sectors.

Even Admin Slime, head of the Mask Sector which is based in Paldea, was there; clearly male, but his face couldn't be seen as he wore a mask resembling a blue slime drop with black horizontal lines for eyes to see through, and a Team Scorn insignia, yellow heater shield with dark blue Team Scorn 'S', on the area of the forehead. He wore a dark blue sleeveless haori long coat that has a somewhat tall collar, a yellow sleeveless men's kimono top under that, a pair of dark blue men's kimono leggings, yellow tabi socks, and dark blue sandals that went with the socks.

The only part of Admin Slime's skin that was visible were his arms as he seemed to be adverse to wearing sleeves; the tone of Admin Slime's skin was fair. Admin Slime was talking to Admins Kyubi and Brother, clearly shooting the breeze to pass the time. "So Kyubi, what's this I heard about you and your men getting some of the persons Team Scorn has dossiers on to help you?" Slime asked as he gestured to Kyubi.

"My suspicions on the now defunct Project Mew were proven valid," Kyubi said, "But my sector lacked the manpower to deal with it alone, and Boss's Assistant Ayane was too busy to come over to Kanto to help. If the madness Project Mew threatened to bring wasn't stopped, then the outcome would have made Team Scorn lose out on some valuable holdings."

"I heard about all of that business in the news," Brother said, "A number of members of Project Mew, including their leader, were arrested, although it was noted some members willingly submitted to arrest upon finding out what their group really was up to."

Slime was about to say something else, but got cut off when the door to the meeting room opened and Ayane, the Assistant to the Boss of Team Scorn, came out. She was in her current unique Team Scorn outfit, which had a fantasy mage theme to it. "The meeting will now be held," Ayane called out, "Admins, please come in. Everyone who is not an Admin has to wait out here."

The Admins of the various sectors all made their way to enter the meeting room. "Ah, Admin Slime," Ayane said as she stopped the head of the Mask Sector, "You're going to have to remove your mask before entering. I know it's the symbol of your sector, but you can't cover your face in the presence of the Boss."

Sighing, Slime said, "Very well." Slime then took his blue slime drop mask off, revealing himself to be Rimu, one of the Champion ranked trainers from Paldea, as well as a member of the Masters Eight in the current season of the World Coronation Series. Rimu then called over someone, who turned out to be his girlfriend Penny, who wore a yellow and dark blue pallet swap of her usual outfit; only her beloved Eevee backpack hadn't gotten a pallet swap.

Handing his mask to Penny, Rimu said, "Hold onto this for me." Penny nodded once and received the mask from Rimu before he and the other Admins all went in to the meeting, with the door closing behind them. The door as well as the walls of the meeting room were proofed against any manner of spying, meaning only those in the room would ever know what's going on in there.

The Admins, Boss's Assistant Ayane... and the Boss of Team Scorn himself.

...

Inside of the meeting room, the Admins were all seated around a large meeting table, with Ayane at a head spot where there was an empty chair next to her. If Ayane and the empty chair were at the twelve o' clock position, then going around the table clockwise were Admins Kyubi, Brother, Ninja, Pirate, Swordsman, Hero, Mage, Scorbunny, and lastly Slime who sat next to Ayane opposite of the empty chair.

Speaking of the empty chair, Admin Slime, aka Rimu, gestured to it. "I can only assume that the boss when he gets here will sit there?" Rimu asked.

"Why else would there be an empty chair next to me?" Ayane replied.

Admin Scorbunny, aka Nina the girl from Galar, looked around a bit nervously. "We aren't in trouble, are we ma'am?" Nina asked as she shot a nervous look at Ayane.

Offering a calm smile, Ayane replied, "On the contrary, Admin Scorbunny. None of you are in trouble. In fact, you and Admin Slime are both in position to help Team Scorn make a major move towards its ultimate goal. Pariah will explain in detail once he-"

Ayane stopped short when a door behind her opened up and closed, as someone had entered the room. That someone being Pariah, the ultimate Boss of Team Scorn. "I'm glad to see that all of the Admins of the sectors that have been set up were able to come," Pariah said, his cool voice helping to highlight his estimated three decades of age. Sitting down in his seat next to Ayane, Pariah saw all of the Admins, as well as Ayane were bowing their heads respectfully to him.

Pariah let out an amused hum of a chuckle. "You all can raise your heads," Pariah said, prompting the rest of the meeting to all raise their heads. "Now, we're here to discuss Team Scorn's plans concerning the Masters Eight tournament," Pariah said, "And how we're going to... use the outcome to our advantage."

"A tournament where the eight strongest trainers in the world are gonna duke it out to see who will stand as the number one in the end," Kyubi remarked, "I can see why it would serve Team Scorn's interests to use the results of such a contest to our advantage." Turning his attention to where Rimu and Nina both sat, Kyubi went on, "Especially considering how two of our own here are going to be in said tournament. Two of the eight strongest trainers in the world are members of Team Scorn."

Pariah nodded once in agreement. "Indeed. In addition to Admins Scorbunny and Slime, the Masters Eight includes Galar Champion Leon, Indigo Champion Lance, Sinnoh Champion Dawn, Alola Champion Ash, Hoenn Champion Steven, and lastly the prior Unova Champion Ideku." Looking to Mage, Pariah said, "I believe your spies have confirmed what Pokémon Ash will be using when he takes part in the Masters Eight tournament, Admin Mage?"

Mage nodded once, took out a folded up sheet of paper. "Ash Ketchum has only ever been seen working with the listed Pokémon here ever since the current season of the World Coronation Series started up. I've also confirmed that Ash Ketchum said he only intends to use the ones on this list."

"Pikachu," Pariah began listing off, "Lucario, Dragonite, Sirfetch'd, Dracovish, Gengar, Melmetal, and Naganadel. Fair enough." Setting the list down, Pariah went on, "Knowing the rosters each person in the Masters Eight will be bringing to the table is of vital importance for Team Scorn's plans involving the Masters Eight tournament. We cannot afford to be caught by surprise."

"We already have the rosters of Ash," Ayane said, "As well as our own Admins Slime and Scorbunny. We also got the rosters of Leon, Lance, Steven, and Ideku. The only wild card of the list is Sinnoh Champion Dawn."

"We don't know all of what Pokémon that Dawn Berlitz owns," Pariah said, "And among the ones we do know she owns, many of them are mighty legendary Pokémon. As such, Dawn is the single biggest threat to Team Scorn's plans for the Masters Eight tournament coming to the successful result we desire."

"So how will she be dealt with?" Swordsman asked.

"There's simply no reasoning that she could lose," Pariah said, "So having her taken out of the tournament by a method other than standard elimination is the way to go. We'll have to do it prior to the top four, it'll be suspicious if done later than that."

The other Admins nodded in agreement. "The plan is simple," Ayane said, "And it takes advantage of the fact that Admins Slime and Scorbunny, plus their respective Admin's Assistants, are in their public personas on friendly terms with Dawn Berlitz and her friends. Either Admin's Assistant Penny or Admin's Assistant Marnie will distribute bottled waters to the trainers competing in the Masters Eight tournament. Whoever acts to do this will have to appear as a friend, although that shouldn't be all that difficult."

"I assume the bottled waters will be sabotaged in some way?" Rimu asked.

"Just the one given to Dawn Berlitz," Ayane said, "A drug will be mixed into it to make her throw up and get ill enough so that she'll have to be dropped from the competition. When Dawn gets sick and has to be dropped, it'll ensure that Team Scorn's plans will succeed."

Holding up a hand, Rimu asked, "What will we do to ensure Dawn drinks the water she'll be given, assuming that her drinking it as soon as possible is of vital importance?"

"Whoever brings Dawn the water will bring a few extra bottled waters and drink one after handing over the sabotaged one," Ayane explained, "Seeing someone drink ought to influence Dawn into drinking the one she's given. Hell, if there are others with her at the time, they ought to be given some bottled waters too."

Pariah's look on his face was cloaked by his sunglasses and gaiter mask, but those in the meeting room got the feeling that the Boss of Team Scorn was smirking in amusement. "By no means can Team Scorn afford to fail in the mission involving the Masters Eight tournament. Our plans for the Masters Eight tournament succeeding is a vital step towards Team Scorn's ultimate goal."

Arching a wry eyebrow, Kyubi asked, "And what IS Team Scorn's ultimate goal?" Kyubi had left being a Chaser for the now defunct Project Mew because he felt it, with said suspicions later being justified, that the leader of Project Mew was not being totally up front and honest about everything.

Pariah let out an amused hum of a chuckle. The ultimate Boss of Team Scorn held his right hand up at around shoulder level, the palm facing up, and the fingers clenched slightly as if Pariah was holding up a Pokéball that was expanded. "Team Scorn's ultimate goal, Admin Kyubi," Pariah began, "Is nothing more, or nothing less..." For dramatic effect, Pariah clenched his upheld hand shut tight.

"...Than the world."

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-EIGHT

Author's notes;

This chapter covers the entirety of the long awaited Kenny versus Trip battle in the Ultra Class of the World Coronation Series. Although the cutoff point for getting into the Masters Eight had passed, this battle was still important as it was meant to hype up the Masters Eight tournament as much as possible, hence why Kenny and Trip each used entire parties of legendary Pokémon. It was a very fierce battle, but in the end Kenny won, with only Shenron at a little under half health left so show how close of a call things were.

But unbeknownst to the forces of good, Team Scorn is meeting in secret to discuss their plans for the Masters Eight tournament, as they plan to use the results to their advantage, and having it end a certain way is vital to the plans Boss Pariah has in store. Shocking things are discussed and shown, including the reveal that the head of the Mask Sector of Team Scorn, based in Paldea, is actually Rimu, and his girlfriend Penny is his Admin's Assistant. Handling things for their schemes are also covered, and Pariah reveals he's after the world itself.

Things will be continuing into the next chapter, which begins the Masters Eight tournament arc for this story. Things will be getting heated, so until then take care.
