Chapter 121 Hunting

Danny and Valerie crept silently through the jungle together as they kept their eyes out for hunters. They also kept an eye out for any traps that the hunters or Hotep Ra might have set up, but thankfully there didn't appear to be any. The duo also made sure to make sure the chain that connected them didn't get caught on anything. After some traveling the two of them decided to sit and rest for bit. Valerie found a good size rock, which she picked up and stuck first the shackle and then the chain seeing if either one would give in and weaken in any way to allow escape, but neither gave in. It appeared that Hotep Ra had used a good shackle and chain to make sure the prisoners wouldn't escape from so easily.
Valerie found a pointy stick and she tried to pick the lock with it, but that failed to. She sighed and toss the stick away, before looking at Danny.
"Could you use the Force to unlock the lock on this thing?"
"Sorry, I don't think I'm skilled enough to do something like that." Said Danny.
"Well it looks like we're either going to get the key, or find your lightsaber or some other tool or weapon to free us." Said Valerie.
"And its probably likely that some of the hunters already found the key and our gear and are setting up an ambush for us." Said Danny.
"Most likely. Even if we do manage to get our gear, free ourselves from our chains, and beat the hunters, we still have to worry about Hotep Ra and his forces. I highly doubt Hotep Ra is going to let us go if we beat the hunters." Said Valerie.
"We just have to figure out a way off this island or get our hands on a communicator to send a message to the Rebels to get help. I'm sure they have the tech to trace a call." Said Danny.
"I suppose its possible, but that's easier said then done." Said Valerie.
"We just have to play this smart and have a little faith. I'm sure the Rebels have realized we're missing and are searching for us." Said Danny.
"Yeah, but they have no idea where we are and who took us." Said Valerie.
"Will tell them who took us once we find ourselves a communicator." Said Danny.
"Could you use the Force to contact your mom or that Clockwork guy?" Asked Valerie.
"Maybe, though it would take some time and effort to do. I think we should focus our efforts on freeing ourselves from this chain and arming ourselves, before I try to contact my mom and Clockwork with the Force." Said Danny.
"Fair enough. Let's get going." Said Valerie.
The two of them continued through the jungle.
"So if you don't mind me asking, what's the deal between you and Terminatra and her crew? I know from Tucker you have some history with them, but that's about it." Said Danny.
"Well back in my bounty hunter days I worked alongside the Trinity of Doom. For a while we all worked well together, but then one day everything changed. You see I had a personal code of honor and I vowed I would never put any innocent civilians in danger in any way or form, while on the hunt for a bounty. The Trinity of Doom seemed to respect my code of honor, but during a hunt for a gang of thieves, Terminatra started a shootout and several civilians got caught in the crossfire. Six people were greatly injured and an old man was killed. I was appalled by this, but the Trinity of Doom didn't care. They got their bounty and I quit working with them. Terminatra didn't take my departure very well and she and her flunkies have been taking every opportunity to harass me or try to force me to come back to work with them." Said Valerie.
"Yikes. I had no idea." Said Danny.
"Its fine now. I have you, Tucker, and the rest of the Rebels to work with now. Your a real crew and I respect you all. I know you have a code of honor and I know you would never put any innocent people at risks." Said Valerie.
"Thanks." Said Danny.
They continued on, until they reached a small clearing, at first Danny and Valerie thought that this was one of the clearings that Hotep Ra said he had placed their gear or the shackle keys, but there appeared to be an empty clearing. Danny and Valerie were fixing to move on, when they heard something moving through the jungle and the next second the criminal known as Brass Knuckles and Box Guy stumbled into the clearing. The two hunters blinked their in surprise at the sight at Danny and Valerie before taking up a fighting stance.
"Well. Well. Looks like fate has delivered us our targets. Now we just got to kill them." Said Box Guy pulling out a large knife.
"I'm going to pummel, until they're black and blue." Said Brass Knuckles pounding his fists together.
"Beware puny prey for I am Box Guy and I shall be destroying and claiming your bounties!" Declared Box Guy.
"Box Guy? That's literally the dumbest and most unthreatening name I've ever heard." Said Danny.
"I totally agree." Said Valerie.
A look of pure rage appeared on Box Guy's face and he let out an angry yell as he charged forward swinging his knife. Danny and the Valerie quickly backed away together as Box Guy advanced towards them. Brass Knuckles watched as Box Guy chased Danny and Valerie around with his knife. The bruiser saw that Box Guy had a blaster holstered to his side, but it seemed that either Box Guy had forgotten about or he simply wanted to make the targets suffer before dying to boost his reputation and status in the criminal underworld. Brass Knuckles thought about it for a few moments before he just shrugged his shoulders and charged into the fray.
Both Danny and Valerie were doing their best to keep their distance from Box Guy and his knife. Box Guy may not have been the dangerous and most skilled hunter, but he was still a threat since he was armed and the two Rebels weren't. To complicate and make matters worse, Brass Knuckles was charging in to join the fight. Danny was fairly confident, he and Valerie could take their attackers one at a time, but if they attacked together the odds would not be in their favor. They needed to act fast.
"Hey Box Guy, I've seen Stormtroopers and drunken pirates fight better then you." Said Danny as he and Valerie stood in front of a tree.
Box Guy yelled and charged forward with his knife and Danny and Valerie hopped out of the way. Box Guy's knife stabbed into the tree and became imbedded in it. Box Guy tried to yank his knife out of the tree, but couldn't. Danny looked up at some coconuts hanging from the tree and used the Force to yank one down and slam it onto Box Guy's head. Box Guy groaned as he fell to the ground dazed.
Brass Knuckles reached the Rebels and punched Valerie in the head sending both her and Danny stumbling back. The criminal advanced towards them, only to get punched by Danny's free hand, followed by a punch from Valerie's free hand. Brass Knuckles stumbled back, but before he could recover Danny and Valerie punched him together and he fell to his back unconscious.
"That's one down." Said Danny.
"Beware!" Yelled a half conscious Box Guy as he stumbled towards the Rebels firing his blaster at them.
Luckily he was a terrible shot in his current state and his shots missed Danny and Valerie. Valerie scooped up a rock and hurled it at Box Guy. It stuck him in the forehead and he fell to the ground unconscious.
"That's two down." Said Valerie.
The two Rebels decided to help themselves to some weapons. Valerie helped herself to Box Guy's blaster and working together they pulled Box Guy's knife out of the tree. Danny took the knife. Now that they took down some hunters and had a few weapons, Danny and Valerie were feeling a bit more confident as they continued on into the jungle to face the other hunters and claim their gear.
The hunt was only beginning.
