Summary: The feeling of the sand beneath her feet, the soft breeze and the murmurs of the sea, invites Mari to dance alone under the moonlight until a certain blue haired girl joins her, surprising her in her birthday.
Kanan/Mari
All I want is to dance with you now
A longing sigh escapes her lips as her feet touch the thin sand of the beach, sinking in it as she walks, leaving behind her a trail of footsteps along the shore.
The waves comes to wet her feet timidly, bringing a soft smile to her lips as she enjoys the sensation that somehow reminds her to fleeting fingertips stroking her skin in a playful way, tickling her and eliciting a giggle from her, making her mind drift to the owner of those fleeting fingers.
She lets out a longing sigh as the thought gets lost in the wafting wind blowing her hair, carrying with it the pleasant smell of the marine breeze that brings the sweet melody of the quiet murmurs of the sea as if they were the whispers of a certain blue haired girl in her ear.
Mari can't help the aching memory of the girl that invades her mind, oceans separating them, before she closes her eyes once again to enjoy the weather and let her mind wander back to her sweet smile and the way her purple eyes shine brightly as they look at her with nothing but love in them.
As she feels the wind wafting and the waves coming to wet her feet and tickle her once again, Mari can't help but feel it as an invitation to start an easy and impromptu dance.
Another giggle escapes her lips as she begins to dance alone, guided by the blowing wind swaying her body to the rhythm of the sea's soft melody with the moonlight as the sole witness of it.
The feeling of the beach and the sea, along with the smell of the marine breeze enveloping her does nothing but remind her of Kanan, making her yearn for her even more.
She sighs again and closes her eyes to focus on the feeling of her dancing along with her as if she was right there with her, guiding her in this solitary dance, twirling her around, the sand and the water moving along with her.
Soon, she feels a hand being respectfully placed on her waist as another hand takes hers gently, a strong but sweet salty marine scent filling her nostrils while a warm body presses against her back.
- Missing me?
A soft voice whispers in her ear and Mari can't help but gasp, halting in her impromptu dance to quickly turn around and see her beloved blue haired girl in front of her tilting her head with a sweet smile adorning her face.
She covers her mouth, tears running down her face before she feels Kanan pulling her into a tight hug, her head coming to rest against the taller girl's chest while she surrounds her with her arms and squeezes her to make sure Kanan is real and she is right there. To make sure it isn't just her imagination playing tricks on her.
She cries more at the feeling of Kanan in her arms, of her warmth, noticing her tightening the comforting embrace around her.
- What are you doing here? – Mari asks her still crying, slightly pulling away to look into those purple eyes she loves so much with glimmering tears in her own ones.
Kanan, for her part, can only wipe her tears away and smile at her tenderly, before she leaves a kiss on her forehead then on her nose.
- What do you think I'm doing here? – she retorts playfully, giggling briefly before she cups and strokes Mari's cheeks – It's your birthday, so I came here to give you a surprise.
She ends up saying, winking at her while Mari furrows her brow.
- But it isn't my birthday yet – Mari says softly, seeing the soft smile on Kanan's face widening.
- It's way past 12 am in Japan, so it technically is!
Kanan says with a huge grin on her face, pointing Mari at the hour on her clock and Mari can only giggle, shaking her head.
- Silly... you never cease to surprise me, don't you?
She whispers quietly and Kanan laughs and leans in to kiss her sweetly.
- Happy birthday, my love.
Kanan wishes her, kissing her once again before she takes her hand in hers to leave a kiss on it and places her other hand gently on her waist to pull her closer.
- Now, would you allow me to have this dance with you, my love?
Mari can only giggle at her romanticism, and smile.
- Of course, mi amore.
Mari whispers giddily as she rests her head on Kanan's shoulder, wrapping her arms around the blue haired girl's firm back before they begin to sway slowly under the moonlight and with the soft murmur of the sea as their personal melody, their giggles and quiet laughs filling the air of such magical and special night.
Their smiles only widen as they're once again together, dancing happily.
