Summary: Mari knows that waking Kanan at such an early hour will earn her grumpy grumbling, but she's sure that swimming with dolphins for her birthday will change that.

Light snores fill the quietness reigning over the room making another girl giggle as she watches her girlfriend sleeping soundly in the bed. A mischievous grin appears on her lips as she pokes her girlfriend's side, hearing her grumbling in her sleep, before scooting away from her poking.

Another giggle escapes from the lips of a certain mischievous blonde, before she goes back to poke the girl in bed more insistently, hearing her grumbling some incomprehensible words.

The blonde's giggles soon turn into a brief laugh as she keeps poking her girlfriend trying to wake her up.

- Rise, my shiny dolphin!

Mari exclaims chirpily, bothering the blue haired girl in bed who can't help but grumble once again, peeking an eye open to see the hour showed in the clock on her nightstand.

7:10 AM

Kanan can't help but groan, taking one of the pillows to throw it to her shiny girlfriend, hitting her right on the face.

- Rise my ass, shiny annoying girl – Kanan grumbles grumpily as she buries her face completely in the remaining pillow, causing her shiny annoying girlfriend to fully laugh, before she pokes her even more insistently if possible in the hope she can wake her up completely and not only bother her further.

- Aw come on, my grumpy dolphin. I have a big surprise ready for your birthday!

Mari says, making Kanan sigh heavily into the pillow, before she turns around, her loose long blue hair sprawling over the pillow and mattress as she slowly opens her amethyst eyes, looking sleepily at the chirpy blonde beside her bed giving her a wide yet fond smile.

- It better be a good one if you're dragging me out of bed so early – Kanan whines as a yawn escapes her lips, sitting up to stretch while Mari giggles and leans to kiss the grumpy girl on her cheek then on the corner of her mouth.

- I promise you it's a really good one. Now get dressed, we don't want to be late.

She comments happily, poking Kanan's stomach for the last time as she earns herself another grumble and a light slap from the sleepy blue haired girl, before she leaves the bedroom, seeing Kanan leaving the comfort and warmth of her bed reluctantly to accompany her shiny yet annoying crazy girlfriend to God knows where.

Another tired yawn escapes Kanan's lips as she finally gets out of her bedroom already dressed up, causing Mari to smile fondly at her this time, before she approaches her and leaves a chaste kiss on her girlfriend's lips, taking her hand by the hand to pull her with her.

- Come on, grumpy.

She says playfully as she begins to drag a still a bit sleepy Kanan to her pink van, waiting for her to get comfortable enough on the passenger seat to start the engine. She hears Kanan grumbling at the loud sound that comes from it, before she slides on the seat and closes her eyes to sleep for a bit longer on their route.

Mari, far from being bothered by this, can only find it endearing and amusing, letting her shiny grumpy dolphin to sleep for a bit longer while she drives them to their destination.

The blonde can't help but watch the peaceful expression adorning Kanan's features from time to time while she drives and the blue haired girl sleeps, making her smile fondly at it, before they get to their destination and she turns off the engine of the van and leans over the passenger seat to pepper kisses all over her girlfriend's face, hearing her grumbling funnily, before she kisses her softly on the lips to wake her up.

- Wake up sleepyhead, we're already here.

She says quietly, hearing Kanan grumbling and yawning some more, before she slowly opens her eyes to see the big sign in front of them indicating them that they're at the local's aquarium.

A surprised gasp escapes her lips as she opens her eyes abruptly, reading the words written in the big sign, before she frowns confused.

- Mari, you know it's still too early for the aquarium to be open, right?

Kanan voices out, hearing Mari giggling beside her, before feeling her hand taking hers to interlace their fingers as she leaves a kiss on her cheek.

- I know silly, that's why this is a surprise. They've opened it just for us!

- How…

- Oh you know how handy money can be sometimes.

Mari says as if it was nothing of importance, making Kanan furrow her brow deeper, opening her mouth to answer her back, when the blonde presses a finger on her lips to silence her.

- All I care is that you have fun and like your birthday gift today, Kanan. Nothing else.

Mari tells her seriously, making Kanan go soft as she sighs, giving in her girlfriend's crazy and probably expensive ideas. The blue haired girl can only smile softly and kiss Mari's finger making her giggle, before she pulls her into a sweet kiss.

- Okay, then let's have fun together.

She says softly, seeing Mari going back to her chirpy self.

- Shiny! I'm sure you'll love what I have prepared for you!

She exclaims happily as she begins to drag a not sleepy anymore Kanan with her towards the inside of the aquarium.

Soon, the both of them meet a couple of workers and instructors from the aquarium, giving them a kind smile that they quickly reciprocate, before they give them a tour around the facilities.

Mari can't help but pay special attention to the way Kanan's eyes sparkle as she sees the large tanks of fishes and other aquatic animals swimming around it, especially the sea-horses, a fond smile spreading across her own lips, before the instructors guide them towards a big opened area with a wide pool.

- … And this is the exhibition area.

One of them says as the other leaves to return after some minutes with a couple of swimsuits in hand.

- And these are the swimsuits you'll be using to step into the water.

The other tells them as she returns and hands them the swimsuits, and Kanan can't help but look at the one in her hands with a furrowed brow, before she hears a particular squeal making her gasp loudly.

- Wait, does this mean…

Kanan trails off as she looks at them excitedly then at her girlfriend, seeing her grinning from ear to ear, before she winks at her.

- Exactly! These kind people are gonna let us stay and swim for a while with the dolphins! Isn't it great?

Mari tells Kanan excitedly, seeing a beaming smile taking over the blue haired girl's features as they go to get changed and before they enter the wide pool, listening attentively to the instructors, before they're left alone with the dolphins.

From the floating mat on the water, the blonde can't help but watch and engrave in her memory the way Kanan's smile widens every time one of the dolphins gets closer to her and lets her pet it, or the way her mesmerizing amethyst eyes seem to sparkle even with more brightness than usual.

She can't help but smile widely at this, feeling her heart bursting out of love as she hears Kanan giggling at one of the mammals, before she follows them, swimming along with them, enjoying to see her shiny dolphin become one of them. She lets out a quiet giggle at this thought, before she feels Kanan's mesmerizing eyes on her looking at her with nothing but love sparkling in them as she swims towards her.

She sees her winking at her, before she's suddenly thrown into the water, yelping as Kanan's giggles and the dolphins' squeals fill the open area.

Soon, she feels a pair of arms wrapping her and pulling her into a body she knows all too well, before a sweet kiss is pressed on her lips.

- Thank you. This is the best gift and surprise I could have asked for – Kanan thanks her girlfriend fondly, making Mari blush lightly, before she kisses her adorable girlfriend even more.

- Only the best for my shiny dolphin!

Mari says, eliciting a giggle from Kanan as they share another kiss in between the dolphins' splashes and squeals.
