Ravenclaw

29 JUNE 1995—Distracted by the crowd disembarking from the Hogwarts Express, Belle was too scatterbrained to fight back when a beefy hand grabbed her arm. She tried to grab her wand, but only half a second later, she was struck with a Stunning Spell. And then she was out.

When she came to, Belle was in what appeared to be an attic, although it had to be the largest attic she had ever seen. Looking around, she noticed a wide assortment of ornate furniture, monogramed luggage, and other fancy junk. Her kidnapper was likely a Slytherin; the predominate color scheme seemed to be green and silver.

Belle took stock of her body. Her wand was missing. She was sore from lying on the plank floor, but she couldn't feel any restraints, magical or otherwise. Then the door opened, and she closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. A hefty foot kicked her stomach, and she grunted in pain. Then she froze, knowing the kidnapper heard the involuntary noise.

"Uh, get up."

Wincing, she opened her eyes. Crabbe towered over her. How had he pulled this off?

"Listen, wifey!" he said, much too loudly.

Belle jumped to her feet, shaking with fear. Crabbe might be an idiot, but he was at least a head taller than she, and bulky with muscles. She would feel confident in a duel of wands or wits, but neither was an option at the moment.

"What did you call me?" she asked carefully.

"I took you, you mine," he explained. "My wifey."

"Why do you want to marry me?" she asked, confused. Again, Crabbe was stupid, but surely his family taught him the importance of pure blood. While she disagreed with the principle of Blood Supremacy, she knew how the offspring of Pureblood lines were indoctrinated into their families' ideologies from a young age. Crabbe wasn't clever enough to do his own thinking, unlike Belle's mother Octavia, who had been declared a Blood-Traitor when she married a Muggleborn and exchanged her respectable Pureblood name for Mrs. Newbourne…of course, that Muggleborn had then abandoned his wife, leaving her to finish raising Belle. Octavia kept her husband's last name, to "remain respectable."

"Mother is proud. Thought Vervain broke contract," Crabbe babbled.

Vervain. That was Mrs. Newbourne's maiden name, and the surname of Belle's stuffy Pureblood cousins, like…Alina, who everyone said looked like Belle.

Great, Crabbe was so stupid that he got the cousins mixed up.
