Jose Blas – Funny you mention this, cos the writer of Yang Branwen has actually read my story, so who knows? Maybe a Collab could happen one day…

Chapter 10 – Homecoming

Qrow was delighted to see his nephew out of hospital the next day, having been hitting himself over the head so much about the events prior, which of course led to him getting hit over the head by his sister for blaming himself for it. She had to do this a lot throughout their lives because Qrow had a very bad habit of blaming himself whenever something bad happens, which considering his semblance is understandable, but of course Raven wouldn't let him feel responsible for every bad thing that occurred just because he happened to be in town when it did.

Once Corvus was cleared to leave, he went with Qrow and Raven to see Chrysies, who was waiting for them by one of the airships that had been transporting people from Komo-Rui to Argus.

Chrysies too, was happy to see Corvus. He praised him for his selflessness and thanked him for helping Pyrrha, and apologized to him for the injuries he sustained in doing so. He felt guilt at the fact that he was supposed to protect Corvus as much as he was Pyrrha, yet the boy still got injured under his watch, but Raven assured Chrysies that she didn't blame him for what happened, and neither would Corvus. Normally Raven wouldn't be so forgiving about this kind of thing, but Chrysies was one of the few people Raven actually trusted somewhat, and despite the fact that she was a bandit, the trust went both ways.

They took the airship to Argus and after a somewhat long trip, they arrived in the city. Corvus marveled at his surroundings, Argus being nothing like what he had imagined. The four of them made their way to a hotel, which was kindly helping shelter the Komo-Rui refugees, and they went to meet with Chrysies' family.

As they entered the room that Pyrrha and her mother were staying in, Chrysies was met by his daughter leaping into his arms, embracing him tightly.

"My dear girl… it's good to see you again." He said with a wide smile, hugging her back. After a short moment, they separated and Chrysies greeted his wife while Pyrrha looked at Corvus. She went to rush towards him, but stopped, hesitating. She seemed upset and rather sad.

"I… I'm sorry Corvus…" she said quietly.

Corvus seemed confused at first, before he realised what she was apologizing for, and looked at her with a soft gaze

"It's okay. It wasn't your fault Pyrrha." He said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Pyrrha seemed both surprised and relieved at his reassurance. She was clearly beating herself up over what happened quite a bit, so she was pleasantly surprised that he felt no ill towards her. She gave a watery smile, before moved towards him and slowly gave him a hug, careful not to aggravate his injuries. Corvus was a little shocked at the action, but returned it, before he heard an unfamiliar feminine voice speak up.

"Aww… how adorable!"

The two separated as they saw who he assumed was Pyrrha's mother gushing over them, with Pyrrha blushing and Corvus pouting at the woman. Said woman giggled at their reactions, with laughs coming from the other adults as well. Pyrrha's mother, who introduced herself as Thetys, stayed with the kids as Qrow and Raven went with Chrysies to discuss their course of action.

"So, what are we doing about that Grimm, then?" Qrow asked as they stepped into the hall.

"Well, I cut its tail off, so it won't be able to do much aside from creep people out, but obviously we should still finish it off." Raven responded.

"It's for the best. I doubt it's injury will prove any hindrance to its Fear-mongering, we do not wish for it to cause an attack like the one at Komo-Rui again." Chrysies said.

Qrow looked to him and spoke. "Well, I doubt it'll return anytime soon, so you just give one of us a call when it starts poking around again."

"About that, Qrow… I've decided it's time for me to retire. It's clear that I'm past my prime, my inability to protect the children proved as much. However, my second in command, Steele, is more than capable. Speak to her and she'll keep you informed."

Qrow looked like he was about to protest, but stopped himself, opting for a light-hearted joke instead. "Alright then. It's about time I suppose, old man. I'm guessing you aren't going back to Komo-Rui?"

Chrysies shook his head. "I do not wish to risk my family's safety. We have discussed it, and we shall be staying in Argus."

Qrow nods, understanding his friend's caution. "Alright. I'll go see Steele then. I'll also get in touch with some other towns and villages in the area, see if we can track it down. Raven?"

"We'll keep an eye out for it, if any of my people spot it, I'll let you know."

As Qrow left for Komo-Rui, Raven and Corvus stayed in Argus for a few days to let Corvus' injuries heal some more and get checked up by a doctor before leaving. The two spent time with the Nikos family as Corvus continued his recovery, with Raven spending a surprising amount of time with the Nikos matriarch.

"So… you're leaving now?" Pyrrha asked sadly.

"Yeah kid. We've got our own home that we need to get back to." Raven said rather softly.

"Don't worry dear, you'll see them again." Thetys said before turning to Raven and Corvus with a smile. "You're welcome to come down anytime,."

As they were saying their goodbyes to the mother daughter pair, Chrysies came in with a very long white box. He walks towards Corvus, presenting him with the box.

"A gift, young man. For saving our precious daughter."

Corvus looked at Chrysies for a moment, before looking at the box, then to his mother.

"Well? Are you gonna open it?" She said with a knowing smile. Corvus suspected she knew of this, but didn't say anything. He opened the box slowly revealing a large nodachi, the very same one he was admiring in Komo-Rui's training centre. Being able to take a closer look at the weapon he was now able to more clearly see the patterns engraved into the blade. It looked like it depicted a battle of sorts. It looked like a fight between a powerful huntsman and some Grimm, specifically a giant serpent and a large wolf Grimm, though he hadn't seen or heard anything resembling these Grimm before. He was in awe of this weapon, even more than he was before. The Intricately carved scene on the lightly coloured blade looked incredible, as was the luxurious looking handle which was white with red accents and had a red gem adorning the pommel. He looked at the sheath that was also in the box, which was pitch black with white and red details on it. Said details were not too dissimilar to the carvings on the blade, but these were of course not carved on.

"This…" Corvus said, trailing off in disbelief.

"All yours dear, since you got hurt protecting our little girl. Besides, your mother told me you've been working so hard. You've earned it." Thetys said, giving him a happy, motherly smile.

"Th- Thank you, I… I don't know what to say…" He said, smiling at them but still in disbelief.

"You do not need to say anything young man. Just enjoy it, and use it well." Chrysies replied.

They said their goodbyes once more, with Corvus giving Pyrrha a gentle hug which brought out more gushing noises from Thetys. Then Raven, holding the box with the nodachi still inside it, opened a portal back to the tribe and they stepped through to see a scene that neither mother nor son expected. They saw Bruno patching up a Faunus who was clearly injured, and who neither of them recognised. Looking around, Corvus saw there were many others he didn't recognise, all injured in some way shape or form. They looked unwell, cold and hungry.

As his mother questioned Bruno about their new visitors with annoyance and a hint of anger in her voice, Corvus scanned the injured Faunus, analysing them and their injuries. One in particular caught his eye, a red-haired boy a few years older than himself, with a bandage over his wounded left eye and a burning glare in his remaining, sky blue one.
