He figured since both ways led to nowhere, it wouldn't matter which path he chose. So he picked it at random and stuck with it. Loki guessed he was going on instinct, it felt somewhat right. The more he walked the hotter it got, so he tried to focus on something else. He attempted to listen to the sound of the trees when the wind blew but they were completely still. There wasn't even a slight breeze. The bugs and birds died down too. So with not a lot of options, he listened to his footsteps on the gravel road. It wasn't sudden but it took a while to notice that there were two footsteps.
He thought it would be the heat playing tricks on his mind… but it started to become blatantly obvious, as he took a step there was another sound of a footstep not too far away. He stopped in his tracks and looked behind him as swiftly as he could through the pain. There was nothing in sight for miles, but of course the farther away he looked the more the heat danced on the road making it disappear. Then he turned to look ahead of him, also nothing. Maybe he hit his head harder than his injuries perceived.
He was hesitant to keep walking, being more paranoid about his surroundings, like the trees had eyes. He had the oddest feeling he was being watched, but there wasn't a soul in sight. Maybe that was the point, they weren't supposed to be seen. He continued walking but his guard up more than it originally was. He might regret the pain later if he had to fight, but he would not hold back. He would not be made out to be weak; he would give it his all if it came to it. Listening for the second footsteps, he only heard his own that began to worry him. He didn't know whether that was a good thing… or a bad one… Maybe... just maybe they were right behind-
He spun around as quickly as he could. Regretting it fully and painfully.
For there was nothing, just the air, the trees, and the same road. That was it though, he was going to drive himself mad if he kept this up. If the heat wouldn't do it before his own paranoia did. He threw the entire notion away and kept his head on straight. If he ran into a problem he would just have to prepare at that moment.
So he turned around and attempted walking ahead till something collided into his chest. As quick as his reflexes could be he grabbed them and shoved them as hard as he could. They flew back but so did he, his balance was quite off.
Once he hit the ground, he groaned and he heard one in front of him as well. He was fully aware of his surroundings but his mind was faster than his body. He could only look at his sudden attacker. Only to be stumped at the young woman in front of him.
White hair caught his attention more than anything. Was he in Alfheim, she didn't look Elvin. Too tiny to be one unless she was a child… It would explain the white hair. Though this realm doesn't look like Alfheim, he had been there before. White hair would be found on someone old like Odin but she looked fairly young, around his age if she were Asgardian. It wasn't just her hair that was an odd color; her eyes were so blue they looked purple in the light. Though the more he gazed on her the less dangerous she looked, but you can never be too careful.
He flinched as she moved her hand to her head from where she bumped into his chest. She looked clumsy and helpless at that moment. He almost felt bad for the small being… almost…
He looked down between them to see a book lying open to reveal very detailed drawings of plants and creatures. By the handwriting he could tell it was a journal. Looked very highly detailed and thorough, definitely not belonging to a simpleton. But not to a genius, obviously, her handwriting is ratchet. Someone that has lived hundreds of years could at least improve their handwriting. So, she must be similar to a human and their ages.
A hand quickly snached it and pulled it towards the mortal. He watched as she stuffed it in her bag that was resting on her side. Since she wasn't an attacker she was a nuisance, causing him pain and needless worry.
"Do you have eyes?! I can see that you do, so why do you use them so terribly?! I was right in the middle of the road! Why didn't you see me or even say anything!? Better yet you could have avoided me entirely."
The woman finally looked up at him but instead of being apologetic she actually looked pretty defensive. Which was quite a surprise to him.
"Well I'm sorry my eyes weren't focused on what's ahead of me. Usually I'm by myself out here! The only things I have to avoid are trees and stumps. I just got into the path of the road, which is when I stop paying attention because the road is USUALLY empty!"
So she was in the forest, that would explain the footsteps she heard with no one to be seen on the road.
Though as to find out what realm he was in his best guess, he was on Midgard, and she is a mortal… an odd mortal. Only a human would be ignorant in the knowledge of what true power looked like. She wouldn't know that a god standing right in front of her, she can't sense his magic. She obviously isn't aware of who is the superior one, talking to him in such a tone.
"Do you have any idea of whom you speak to with such ferocity?!" He practically shouted.
"No! I don't. Though do tell me so I'll remember your name when I get a court order in the mail about your lawsuit for just walking into you!"
What in the Nine realms does that mean? She is speaking of laws and courts, but there are other words that don't make any sense to him whatsoever.
"I beg your pardon?"
"Listen pall, I don't know if you're some kind of cosplayer or something. In your fancy armor get up, torn cape, and makeup. Your British accent is spot on, I'll give you that. Lemme guess you came out of this fake battle or war, and you must have won. So you're sitting on your high horse thinking you're all that and then some. You must be rich to afford that outfit, it looks too good to be made of plastic. You think you can get whatever you want whenever you want, cause you got money. Sorry to burst your bubble but OUT HERE, it's here-say, you can go and sue me all you want but you won't win. We are literally the only people on earth out here. The next town isn't for miles. This road is never busy, no witnesses. I got nothing worth your time to give anyway."
No doubt about it now, he was on Midgard... she just confirmed it, mortals call their realm Earth like it's some higher power. Especially when they use the terms 'What on earth?', and such. He did little reading on earth culture, one or two books. His usual studies go in depth of seven to eight books. Though he has come to realize this mortal was ignorant and unaware of his reason for landing in this miserable realm. So he would ignore the… insults… he assumed.
Unfortunately ignorant as she may be she was right about one thing and completely wrong about the other. He did come out of a battle that was all too real but it wasn't the battle that caused his injuries. Though he didn't win and he doesn't have a horse; make that, three wrong things.
"I don't know of this 'Sue' you speak of, but they are irrelevant in this conversation. All I ask is that you prevent your clumsiness in the future. Your lack of 'paying attention' caused more pain to someone who is already in a great deal of it!"
A look of realization finally was presented on her face, like she had just come to notice the cuts, blood, and bruises. That they were in fact real. About time this mortal got it into her thick white haired skull…
Soooo, I am rewiting this as I go through this. I decided to give this story a second chance. I've grown a bit and feel I have more confidence in my writing. so here goes nothing I guess.
