Link gets to Gerudo town finally after some minor issues with the new crash test Gibdos and commits a major crime.
Bozai stifled his breathing as much as he could without cutting off his oxygen completely. This was not only to keep a minimum of dust from getting into his lungs, but to concentrate on his sense of hearing. He was incredibly close to making out more words coming from inside the building. As a consequence of his current attention focus, Bozai heard something else.
A low crunching thud. An ever louder series of thuds in a distinctive pattern of thump-thump-THUD.
Bozai looked up and saw a shadow of something large and oblong sailing overhead with something hissing inside the contraption. There might have been movement inside of the thing, it was hard to tell inside the blasted sand shroud. Various attachments and wheels flailed through the air around the ill-fated vehicle. The thuds ended with one colossal smash right on the steps to the chief's throne room.
Bozai considered if he should check on whatever it was to see if there was a person in there. He was this close to figuring out what was being whispered below him though, which meant he'd check it out later.
"Do you think Buster Five survived that one? He didn't fly above the sand shroud." Link asked Rauru. That was how Buster the First had been weakened before the landing finished him off. It took Link until Buster the Third to figure out that it was the sunlight that got him. Link kept meticulous notes for Zelda and Kilton on the creatures while testing.
Rauru crossed his arms. "I not understand what you say or do."
Link's patience with the things trying to rip him apart wore thin after a while while he was building. As a behavioral deterrent, Link had fashioned himself a way to spritz some water via a weird attachment he could pop onto a splash fruit. What Link had not realized was the water was another weakness for the Gibdos. Thus ended Buster the Fourth's existence. In retrospect, it turning white and making a distressed squeak was a sign of that issue.
Seeing Gerudo Town deserted was just wrong. Link beelined for the shrine and climbed down into the building below. "Riju? Buliara? Anyone?" Why had no one arrested him? Link stared at the empty throne, then went back up to the bedroom. He snagged some Gerudo weaponry from the training ground.
"I will avenge you with the weapons of your people!" Link set his Zonai arm aglow with the light of the fuse power.
"Link, whyar eyo ufusi ngth att oyo urshield? Istha tachi ld'sto y?" Rauru saw the crying Link attach a seal to his shield, then another seal plushie to his new spear. "Th atdo esn otlo okve ryleth al? Is this a tradition, Link?" Rauru got a resolute sniffle from Link.
"This is a new tradition to avenge the fallen."
"...Using a... what the word..." Rauru gestured at the adorable shield.
"Plushie. Stuffed Animal. Toy." Link supplied about a half second before the translation on the Purah Pad beeped on. Rauru nodded at Link, uncertain he should intervene for the sake of Link's dignity. Rauru suspected this would not be worth the effort. Plus, what if he misunderstood and this was something modern people did on a regular basis? He'd hate to disrespect a way to honor the fallen.
Link strode downstairs to admire the wreck of his last vehicle and reconstruct a cage for Buster the Fifth. He realized as he pulled up the wreckage that there was suspiciously little rubble for the hole in the stairs having been created by this particular disaster. He shoved the Gibdo cage upstairs, lifted the wreck, and peeked inside.
The Gerudo were not dead. This was a major relief. And a bit awkward.
Link realized he should probably hide the evidence of his recent theft before he was seen. Link hastily swapped weapons before approaching the door inside. This was bad. Riju might just kill him if she found out about the stuffed seals. Wasn't there a new business in Tarrey Town? Link added that in a higher priority position on his to-do list above "Retrieve tools and armor from Hateno."
