Harry sat on the couch a little while longer, hardly containing his happiness. He'd be married to Ginny. He'd be hers for the rest of his life. She'd be his and she'd be his Queen.
After being pressured into finding a wife for so long, he was glad he waited. It's like the puzzle pieces shifted into place. It was perfect. He had never felt less lonely, he loved her to pieces and he knew she could keep up with the demands of being married to a King perfectly well. She'd keep him alive too. He could have not found a better match.
As he got ready for bed, it was all Ginny that occupied his mind. Even as he began to doze off, she was all he could think about. For the first time in a really long time, Harry fell asleep with a smile on his face.
Ginny knocked on the door to Harry's chamber.
"Come in," she heard him say.
She walked in, her eyes landing on him, standing shirtless in the middle of the room as if he was in the middle of something when she entered. She gasped, turning around as she slapped her hands in front of her face. "I'm sorry, I didn't think—"
"You've seen me in underwear before. And I am wearing trousers this time."
She still had her hands over her eyes despite being turned towards the door. "That's different, you had an undershirt on!" she argued. "And you nearly died."
"I don't mind," Harry said.
Ginny turned back around but kept her fingers over her eyes.
"You literally walk in here with nothing but an undershirt, you know what you told me?"
Ginny finally dropped her hands and carefully opened her eyes. "It doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you?"
Harry was still standing in the room and nodded at her. She tried resisting looking at him.
He walked to the chair and took up his shirt. Ginny looked as his muscles moved when he pulled it on. Surely a King wasn't supposed to look that good shirtless? She diverted her eyes.
Harry approached her now that he had a shirt on. "Good morning," he said and leaned in to kiss her. Both his hands held her head softly.
"Morning," she mumbled back against his lips.
He smiled. "I really didn't think it would bother you. As a Knight surely you must have seen some men..."
"So many," she let out.
"Then what?"
"That didn't affect me as much," she admitted, her eyes searching his.
His eyes flashed and he smiled. "Consider it payback then."
"Whatever for?" she asked innocently.
"The bare legs, the cleavage comment... Really, take your pick," he answered. He kissed her cheek before releasing her and walking back through the room. He pulled on his vest.
"Are we even then?" she asked.
"Sure." He smiled. "For now."
With her increased suspicion, she decided to use her free time on Peter for a little. The benefit of being able to move soundlessly, meant she could track him rather easily.
If she could speak, she would have talked to him already. She considered it but if he really was involved, she could not risk him finding out anything about her. He shouldn't be able to link her Knight half and Princess half. She found him sending out a whole lot of correspondence with the owls but she didn't manage to catch what. Other than that, he seemed to spend a lot of time in his office. Where Hagrid and Alastor could be found often chatting to each other or the other staff, Peter seemed to keep to himself more. She found this strange but then Hagrid and Alastor were the two people she did trust. There must be someone else he was confiding in.
When it was lunchtime, she had to join in the dinner hall to keep Harry safe. These were usually uneventful. People joining for lunch or dinner were often Lords and Ladies that frequented the castle and were therefore not a threat. Assassins were always strangers, hired externally.
She looked at Harry for a good while for lunch, no one could tell anyway where she was looking. That was until he looked at her for the second time and she softly shook her head. He had to bite his cheeks to hide his smile as he glanced away again.
She followed him to his office since it was time for their weekly report. She closed the door and approached. He was leaning against his desk. She stood in front of it as usual, she still insisted on doing these reports in proper form, but Harry seemed to have stopped caring..
She slipped her helmet off and smiled at him.
"Anything to report?" he asked her, knowing it wouldn't be much.
She bit her lip.
"What did you do?"
"Are you aware how many letters Peter is sending out?" she asked.
He sighed. "We talked about this yesterday."
"You told me not to stab him. I didn't." She knew she was toeing the line.
"He is the advisor, he has plenty of letters to write. I don't oversee them all, I have no reason to," he said. "Don't you trust my judgement?"
She glanced down. "Do you understand I am just trying to keep you alive?" she replied, her eyes landing on him again.
He nodded silently.
"At least can I ask you not to tell him the connection between Knight me and Princess me, ever?"
He looked at her for a moment, frowning slightly. "Fine, I suppose that is your secret to keep."
"Thank you."
He nodded, pushed off the desk, and came to stand a little closer. "I had a thought, considering you want to continue some of your Knighting activities after we get married."
"What thought?" she asked.
"I don't think you should continue reporting to me," he told her.
She frowned. "Who will I be reporting to? Alastor?"
He shook his head. "No, I thought you may prefer to report to my wife." He smiled. "I am sure she will have our schedule."
She smiled too. "You're basically letting me do whatever the fuck I want?"
"I trust your judgement in knowing when to show up as Queen or Knight. And these weekly reports are so tedious," he added as a joke.
"Well, then I won't keep you longer." She turned around and slowly took a step.
He grabbed hold of her hand and pulled her back. She stopped right in front of him.
"Careful, I am armed," she said with a glint in her eyes.
"You're always armed," he replied. His finger came under her chin and he kissed her.
"Isn't it dangerous to kiss here?" she asked, though her arms came around her waist.
Harry shrugged. "They've never barged in here when your helmet was off either, I am taking my chances."
"Did you have anything for the weekly report?" she asked.
"If I did, I forgot," he replied cheerily.
She chuckled. "Okay." She stood on her tiptoes to kiss him.
He met her halfway. Her arms tightened around him. When they parted, she met his eyes and smiled happily.
"When it stops raining for a minute we should take the horses out," Harry suggested.
"Right." She nodded. "Our married horses."
Harry smiled. "Isn't it nice how things work out sometimes?"
She let go of his waist, shaking her head. "Sure."
"You've got nothing else on your schedule for today, right?" Harry asked.
"Correct."
"Then I guess I won't see you until tonight," Harry mused.
"Don't miss me too much." She grinned and pulled her helmet on.
"I'll try."
She stepped out of the office and looked around. In summer she spent plenty of time outdoors, walking around or training. Now that it was raining plenty, she had to find something else to occupy herself. She decided not to stalk Peter any more today.
She decided she would try to find the Royal Suite Harry mentioned. She had an inkling where it was. She walked up to the stairs and turned right instead of left and found the double doors. She looked if anyone was in the corridor and then slipped in.
She hadn't considered it before but immediately realised his parents used to sleep here. That's why he had not moved here yet. The room reminded her of the room her parents slept in. She took off her helmet and attached it to her belt. It seemed like some items had been taken out, while others had been left where they stood for the last decade.
Nothing seemed to be in disrepair or disarray but you could tell the room was vacant most of the time. A large bed stood bare without a mattress or sheets. An empty chest stood by the end. Some cupboards still stood there but there were gaps where others had been removed to use elsewhere. There were doors to a large balcony. She realised she had seen the balcony from outside plenty of times, but never wondered what room it led to.
She walked into the room on the right of the bed. There was a small corridor then ended into the room two steps later. She wondered if Harry had slept there once. She stepped out again and discovered the other three rooms were much the same. All held some items but nothing personal was left in the room. Just furniture left to stand until it was needed.
She let out a big sigh as she looked around the main room once again. There must be so much history about the room, yet it stood empty. She had never seen someone go in it before, but perhaps the staff didn't enjoy being reminded of the former King and Queen either.
"Gin?" Harry asked.
"Just a moment." She looked down at herself, at the loose trousers under her nightshirt and smiled. She walked into his room.
"What's that?" he asked, pointing at them.
She blinked innocently. "Trousers."
He looked disapprovingly and a little disappointed. "You know, I don't mind..." A hint of a blush appeared.
"Okay," she said and reached under her nightshirt to take them off.
"Not here," was all Harry muttered, now covering his eyes.
She let out a giggle and walked back into her room. She pulled the trousers off and came back into the room. Harry had already sat down, drinks already poured.
"Better," he commented silently.
She sat down beside him and he looked at her silently with a fond look on his face. She ignored it and grabbed her goblet. Harry hesitantly reached out to her free hand to hold it. It was so sweet and simply adorable. They had kissed several times, yet he seemed somewhat nervous to hold her hand. She moved her fingers to entwine them with his. He squeezed her hand softly. She drank some wine and put her goblet back down, careful not to release his hand.
"Alastor said he keeps up a rotating schedule now at night, so you should be getting fewer nightly visitors," she told him.
"I always have a Knightly visitor," he said with a smile.
She tried to bite back her smile. "You're absolutely ridiculous," she whispered before kissing his cheek. She sighed. "I have a confession to make."
"That's never a good start of a sentence," Harry commented.
She met his eyes. "I went to look for the Royal Suite today,"
"Oh," he said, sounding relieved. "You never saw it before?"
She shook her head. "No, I had no reason to be there." She contemplated her words for a moment but then decided to be straightforward. "I didn't catch why you were hesitant to move there before. Of course it makes sense."
"Yeah, lots of memories there..." he said.
"Did you sleep there as a kid?" she asked softly.
"I did, until I was seven, I think, then I decided I was big enough for my own room." He sighed. "Had I known, I would've slept there forever."
Ginny let go of his hand so she could wrap her arms around him. "You couldn't have known."
"Then again, if I had been there, I wouldn't have lived." His arm came around her and pulled her closer. "Apparently my parents chased after the assassins, even after they had been stabbed, trying to stop them from coming for me. Bought just enough time for Hagrid to get me out."
She listened silently. She wondered if he had ever told anyone else that before. Her hand rubbed his side. "I'm sorry."
"I sometimes wonder... if they could fight like you, if they would have lived." He spoke so softly, as if he didn't expect a real reply.
She lifted her head to look at him. "There is no way of knowing. I am sure they did the best they could."
"Maybe." His eyes looked tearful. He met her eyes. "Who am I to complain, you were dealt worse cards than me."
"It's not a competition." She tucked her head against his shoulder again. "I only fight this well because my parents died. If it was a choice, it would be too big a price to pay. Yet, I am glad I can."
"It's not a fair exchange, to be sure." It was silent for a moment. "Other than my tragic backstory, did you like it?"
"It's a nice room, I suppose," she replied. "Bigger than what I have now."
"That's for sure," Harry said.
"Are there wedding customs we should observe for Ignotia?" she wondered.
"Yes. Well, everyone is stuck with Gydus on the first day and Gorphine on the last," Harry said.
Ginny saw a small blush appear on his cheeks at the mention of Gorphine, the Goddess of Passion and Water, but he skipped right past it.
"And on Saturday we must have Xydite."
"Right, that makes sense," she answered. "He is Gorphine's husband, I always think it's nice to put them together."
He smiled at her in amusement but did not comment. "Drymera we need to have too. We need to vow our loyalty to each other and the Kingdom but the day doesn't matter as much," he ended.
She counted on her fingers. "That's four already. So then we have three left to pick."
"Are there any you want?" he asked softly as he looked up at her.
She sat up a little bit more. "I always liked the ritual for Ovtis."
"God of Dreams... I like that too," he told her.
"What about you?" she asked.
"I would like to add Gynus, Gydus' twin," he said. While Gydus was the God of the Sun, Gynus was the Goddess of the Moon and honoured the dead.
She smiled softly. "Of course, we must have Gynus too. I suppose we have lost enough people to remember." Her smile faltered a little. "I wonder if my parents would have approved."
"No offence but they were about to marry you off to some Prince for the sake of potential political stability. Maybe a King will do?"
"Ignotia does have the longest border with Harpia, not counting Durmstorm... but they rather mind their own business." She weighed the possibilities. "I guess they would approve."
"So then we have one God left to choose," Harry said.
"Rekione perhaps?"
"Honesty?" he asked in disbelief.
"What?"
"You're a Princess that's a Knight pretending to be a man. As Honesty goes..." He raised his eyebrows.
"That's mean." She leaned towards him. "I am always honest with you."
Harry laughed. "We can do Rekione if you want. I am sure the Gods won't spoil your secret."
"Good." She leaned in and kissed him.
Harry's hand came to her waist and pulled her to him. She sighed as she leaned into him, her hands coming around his neck. He angled his head for better access. She lost herself in the kiss for a moment, forgetting the world outside existed, just his lips against hers. Then he leaned away and she, regretfully, landed back in reality.
She swallowed as her eyes opened and locked with his. She could drown in the green of his eyes. He smiled again and leaned back into her. Her fingers tickled the skin of his neck, and he shivered under her touch. He let out a soft moan against her lips and she just kissed him deeper. Harry responded with equal enthusiasm.
Her hand moved to his side and slid down softly but Harry's hand covered hers and stopped it in its way. She leaned back and met his eyes; he was blushing furiously.
"Sorry, it's just that—" he stammered.
Ginny removed her hand from his side and smiled. "Don't worry, I understand." She kissed him softly but briefly. She reached out to both their goblets and handed him his.
Harry's arm came around her again and she leaned into his side. "You know, I used to get a few good hits in with assassins before you came along."
She giggled into her cup and took a sip. "I believe you. You'd be dead otherwise." She turned to look at him. "If you want I can let you get one... If I can correctly estimate it won't get you killed, I mean."
"How considerate of you," he replied. He drank from his goblet too. "You just want to see how I am with a sword, don't you?"
He downed his goblet, and she took it from him and put it on the table.
She shrugged. "No. I can usually tell how people are with a sword by the way they hold themselves."
"Really?" he asked in wonder. "How am I with a sword then?"
She thought it over for a moment, swirling the rest of her wine around. She met his eyes. "Well... You're naturally a good fighter but you're probably a little sloppy on technique. Good instincts though."
Harry smiled.
"How far off am I?" she asked.
He shook his head. "No... I..." He sighed. "I'd say that's pretty accurate. I would not care to admit I am not that precise with technique but ... I know sometimes I just could not be arsed. See a guy, poke him with the pointy end, you know?"
"I suppose that works. I am the type to repeat the technique until it's in my bones. Could do it in my sleep," she told him.
"We both know you are an excellent fighter, if not the most skilled one I've met to date," Harry said.
She rolled her eyes. "What about people like Alastor or Regulus?"
"Frankly, I have never seen Regulus fight but he trained you, so he must be good. Alastor was excellent to be sure, but he's getting older. His distrust and quick reflexes keep him good at what he does." He reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "You have distrust, quick reflexes but you're young and you're so fast, with excellent technique. It must make you the best, it's simple math."
Ginny blushed. "You know how to speak to my heart, don't you?"
"I am starting to," he murmured, smiling fondly.
Ginny walked into his office and closed the door. She took her helmet off and shot him a fond smile.
"Hi."
"It's sunny outside today and it doesn't look like it will rain," Ginny said and Harry perked up at once.
"Give me a few minutes to wrap up and then let's go outside," he immediately said with excitement.
She nodded. "I'll go get the horses ready in the meanwhile."
He smiled brightly at her and she turned around, putting her helmet back on.
While she made her way to the stables, she picked up her cloak. It may be sunny but it was getting chillier these days.
"Good morning, my two lovelies," she said as she reached their stall. Both horses put their heads over the door to greet her. She petted both of them.
"Tell me, how's married life going for you?" she asked.
Their horses looked blissfully happy. She opened the door to their stall and stepped into it.
"Let's get you two ready and then we can go out for a ride," she told them.
Ginn waited outside for Harry to arrive.
"They look snuggly," he commented as he walked up to them.
She glanced back at the two horses as they stood together. "Yeah."
"Are we that bad?" he asked with a teasing smile.
"Not here," Ginny said, they were still well in view of the castle.
"Let's go then," Harry replied, his eyes averting.
She nodded and got onto Red. Harry got onto Lightning and she let go of the reigns. Harry quirked an eyebrow.
"She's going to follow Lightning anywhere," she clarified.
"Like you follow me?" he answered as they made their way to the lane behind the castle.
She shook her head. "That's my job, don't be so flattered."
"Sure, of course," he replied, not in the least bothered by her remark.
After the horses had some time to run, Harry took her to the clearing again. She took her helmet off and put her cloak down to avoid getting wet from the damp grass and Harry put his cloak down too. The horses were left to roam.
Ginny sat down and glanced at him. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Her question was answered not soon after as Harry took hold of her and kissed her, his arms wrapping around her.
"Oh," she said when they parted. Her face broke out in a smile. "Keep looking at me like that," she whispered.
"I will," he said, leaning back in.
Both of them looked up as they heard hooves nearing them. They looked up to see both their horses, looking rather surprised at the fact they were kissing.
Harry and Ginny looked at each other and laughed.
"I did not give the horses a heads up about this development. I am sorry," Ginny clarified.
Lightning butted his head between them. Harry pushed him away.
"Come now, Lightning, don't be ridiculous," he said with a chuckle.
"Just ignore them," Ginny said, pulling on his shoulders so they fell down on their cloaks. They both chuckled and Harry pulled her close again. They had barely connected lips again or they heard a big thud. Both horses had dropped to the ground and were now rolling on their backs beside them.
Ginny laughed and hid her face in the crook of Harry's neck.
"Red, if you want to be a proper Royal horse, you better behave," Harry said.
Red paused but then Lightning bumped against her.
"He is not setting a great example," Ginny noted in an amused tone.
"No, he is not," Harry agreed.
Ginny turned around so she could watch the horses.
"Red." She looked sternly at her horse.
Red turned right side up again and stood up. Lightning followed.
"Go off, go on," Ginny told Red. She waved at her horse to dismiss her.
Red and Lightning turned around and walked a little further away. Ginny shook her head at them and leaned into Harry.
"Silly little horses," she commented with a shake of her head.
Harry pulled her closer to him and they sat silently for a while, looking as the horses walked around the clearing.
"I feel like I am living someone else's life when we spend time together like this. When no one is looking and I can kiss you without reservations," Harry admitted.
She turned her head to look at him. "I have that too. It's nice to sneak away sometimes where things are less complicated."
"I think that's what this clearing is about," Harry spoke.
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
Harry smiled softly. "This clearing is a generations-old secret. My dad knew about it and my mum but no one else, not even his closest friends. It's always been like that. It's a family secret."
Ginny sat up with a frown. "You took me here for my birthday. We weren't..."
"Maybe on some level I already knew," he told her casually.
"That's not something small, Harry." She looked at him, looking so softly at her. "It means a lot to me that you trust me like that."
"I love you," he said as if it was an explanation.
"You didn't say then, what this clearing means," Ginny spoke.
"You were already quite surprised that I did that at all," Harry told her. "When you are Queen, we can make a day of it." He smiled eagerly at her.
"I think kissing would be improved with a dress on, to be fair," she said.
Harry looked a little confused.
"Because I can't feel your hands on me like that," she told him.
"Oh." His eyes darkened. "Where do you want to feel my hands?"
She leaned into him, her lips to his ear. "Everywhere."
Harry let out a soft gasp as her lips landed on his neck. She kissed softly before moving to his cheek, her hands held his face softly so he wouldn't move. She placed a kiss on his forehead, then one on his cheekbone. By the time she reached his lips, he was already pulling her to him. She smiled against his lips before kissing him deeper. One of his hands disappeared into her hair.
Harry was enamoured by everything about her. The twinkle in her eyes and her laugh made his heart speed up, but her touches had an effect on his whole body. He wasn't used to feeling such a desire towards anyone. If she was touching him, his whole body ached for her. And Ginny seemed to find that entirely entertaining. She dragged her fingers over his skin, lips moving, to see what would cause him to react. And then she'd do more of it. Until they inevitably had to stop before they took things too far. Not until they were married at least.
He held her close, his hand in her gorgeous long hair, the other on her waist. Ginny was right, the armour put a barrier between them. When she was in her nightshirt, he could feel the curve of her hip under the fabric when he held her. Now Ginny was moving her hand to his waist, her fingers sliding over the seams, all the while never disconnecting their lips from each other. It was dizzyingly delightful.
Ginny hummed against his lips approvingly. Harry couldn't be gladder the sun came out today; and the sun always shone brighter when she was around. After several long moments they finally parted lips. Ginny's cheeks were flushed when he opened his eyes.
"I can't wait to marry you," she said, her hand coming to the front of the vest, tugging on it softly.
"Then why did it take you so long to say yes?" he shot back.
She looked down. "That's not fair." Her eyes landed on him again. "I didn't think it possible that you loved me."
"My mistake for not confessing my deepest feelings to you the moment I realised." He smiled at her.
The corners of her mouth quirked upward. "When did you?"
"I should have realised sooner... I hadn't put it together quite completely when I first suggested we get married but as I pondered on that..." He shook his head. "During dinner, I was talking to Antonin about cattle."
Ginny frowned at this and he understood why.
"I realised my feelings for you had been growing quite steadily the whole time," he finished.
"Romantic," she commented sarcastically.
He snorted. "I am sorry?" He met her eyes once again. "What about you?"
"Well, I kind of knew something was brewing. You're quite charming you know, and I had hours and hours to observe you, figure out what makes you tick..." She blushed a warm red. "Then Regulus came by and took one look at me and figured it out. Then I fully had to admit to it."
"Regulus knows?" he asked in surprise.
Her brows furrowed. "He does. It worried him. So I had to assure him I wasn't an idiot and that nothing could ever happen and that I was aware of that."
"You didn't think...?" Harry asked.
Now she smiled. "No, of course not. It was not possible the way things were then. Then you dangled Harpia and marriage in front of me, I honestly didn't know what to do with that." She sighed. "I think that's why it took me a while to come around to the idea, despite the fact that I love you. It just didn't feel quite real. It still doesn't."
"We will make it real."
"I hope so," she replied softly.
He nodded reassuringly and placed a kiss on her forehead.
Ginny said goodbye to Lightning and Red, Harry beside her at the stall.
"I can't wait to dance with you again," he told her.
"Again... you don't say, Gwyn," Hagrid's voice came behind them.
They both turned around in surprise as Hagrid had somehow snuck up to them.
"Hagrid, wait, let me explain!" Ginny said.
Hagrid shook his head, looking rather disappointed. He turned around, his shoulders sagging as he walked away again. Ginny felt guilty for lying to the man she had come to call her friend.
"Fuck," she muttered. She looked at Harry, who met her eyes with equal worry. "I told him I wasn't Lady Luna, I... there is a lot at stake."
Harry nodded. "I know." He glanced to the entrance of the stables. "I haven't liked keeping this from him."
"You trust him, don't you?" She waited for his nod. "Maybe we should just tell him. I feel awful about this."
"Let's go talk to him. I don't want to leave things like this because it will take him just two minutes more to figure out that I've been keeping things from him too."
Ginny nodded. She closed her visor and checked if the horses' stall was secure before they made their way to Hagrid's chamber that looked over the garden.
Ginny knocked on the door.
"Hagrid, it's me," Harry said.
There was a small pause before the door opened. He walked away from them and sat by the table in silence, frowning deeply.
"I am sorry, Hagrid," Ginny started. "I really am. I didn't tell you I was Lady Luna because I am not."
Hagrid looked up at her. "Do you take me for an idiot?"
Ginny bit her lip. "Lady Luna is a childhood friend of mine. I took her name for the night so I could blend in, have a nice time."
"Who are you, really?" Hagrid asked.
Ginny looked at Harry for reassurance and he nodded. She took another chair and sat across from Hagrid. "This is another big secret, and it can get me killed if people find out before it's... safe so this needs to remain between us."
Hagrid nodded, indicating that he understood but he still looked upset.
She took a deep breath. "I am the Princess of Harpia. My real name is Ginevra Molly Cedrella Prewette but I go by Ginny."
"That whole family is dead," Hagrid commented. He did not believe her.
Harry sat down beside Ginny. "Except they aren't. And I am planning to return Harpia to the rightful heir. I am planning a war. That's why it's so secretive," Harry told him. "We're getting Bellatrix out and Ginny's oldest brother can be King, as it was supposed to be. They'll be here soon."
Hagrid's gaze flitted to Harry. A deep frown formed between his brows. He looked at Ginny again. "You're a Princess?"
She nodded. "I am. I became a Knight under Regulus to keep me out of harm's way, undetected. Hopeful I could go home but ... then fifteen years ticked by and I am here."
"Oh," Hagrid said, letting go of his previous anger. "So you'll leave soon, go back to Harpia?"
"No." She met eyes with Harry.
"Why not?" Hagrid asked.
Harry smiled softly. "Because I fell in love with her." His eyes locked with hers. "We're engaged."
Hagrid laughed in disbelief. "... No."
"It's true," Ginny said. "We'll get married soon hopefully. It would benefit the alliance to be sure."
"Hagrid, you understand this is a huge secret that could get us all killed if we don't time it well?" Harry said softly but firmly.
He laughed again. "No, no. Hang on just a second." He looked at Harry. "You're getting married, and I am only hearing about it now?"
"You're the first person we've told!" Harry defended himself.
Hagrid turned to Ginny. "And you, Gwyn. Ginevra... whoever you are. You just... show up in a King's castle and convince him to get your country back and marry you?"
"I didn't ask him to. He offered. My brothers have been looking for years for a way to get the Kingdom back. I hope they'll take it, because I can't marry if we're not out of hiding."
"And you want to marry him?" He nodded his head towards Harry as if he wasn't there.
"Of course I do. I ... wasn't planning on falling in love with the King I work for, as a Knight. It was idiotic but..." She shrugged. "Sometimes things work out that way."
Hagrid's big hands came over the table and pulled both of Ginny's into his. His face broke into a smile. "That means you stay!"
Ginny nodded with a chuckle. "For a really long time."
"You understand this needs to be kept quiet, Hagrid?" Harry tried again.
Hagrid nodded. "Of course, of course. I'll keep my mouth shut." He stood up and walked to his shelf. "This calls for a drink!"
Ginny looked over at Harry but he just shrugged. Hagrid poured them all a small cup.
"To my two favourite people in the castle getting married," Hagrid said, raising his cup. "And let's stick it to that old hag Bellatrix."
Ginny took a big sip and immediately regretted it as it burned down her throat. She resisted coughing. "Fuck, Hagrid, To Rekione what's in there?!"
Harry chuckled.
"Oh, FiendFyre Whiskey," Hagrid replied off-handedly. "Got a bit of a kick, don't you think?"
She cleared her throat. "You could say that." She looked over at Harry to find he had only taken a small sip. He knew. She glared at him. She turned her attention back to Hagrid. "I hope you don't mind me as Queen."
Hagrid shook her head. "No, it's grand. I always worried what kind of wife he'd choose..." He smiled. "But this I approve of. And I know you will always keep him safe."
"That I will for sure," Ginny said with a fond look towards Harry. "I hope you can forgive me for lying to you before."
"I understand you had your safety in mind, if I had known you were a Princess... of course you need to stay safe and that's not easy as Royalty, especially in your situation."
"Thank you for understanding, Hagrid," Ginny said. She took the cup up again and drank the rest of it, wincing as she did so.
"Careful," Harry commented in amusement.
"It's okay, Knights taught me how to drink," she reassured him.
"Can't be left behind then," he said, downing his own cup. He let out a little cough. "Splendid."
As they were walking out, Ginny snorted in amusement. "I think this is going to my head."
"Let's go upstairs," Harry suggested.
"No, I am fine," Ginny assured him to the world started spinning a little.
"I am not," Harry replied.
She giggled and whispered loudly. "You have council in two hours."
"You have to stand guard at the council in two hours," he responded in an equally loud whisper.
"Oh, fuck."
Harry hummed. "Yes, I thought so."
They walked up the stairs together, trying to keep quiet. Harry let her into his chamber and closed the door.
"How does he drink that and stay upright?" Ginny wondered as she pulled her helmet off. She let herself drop onto the couch.
"To be fair, he is larger than the two of us combined," Harry pointed out, joining her on the couch.
Ginny leaned into him. "I love you," she purred.
"I love you too, drunk Gwinny," Harry mumbled back.
"I am not drunk, darling," she drawled. She blinked. "Though I do need water." She pushed off the couch and took the can of water and poured both a goblet. She sat back down beside him and handed him one. "What do we do if we're not more or less sober in two hours?"
Harry sipped some water and shrugged, quite unbothered. "I am the King, what are they going to do?"
Ginny nodded approvingly. "You're right." She drank from her goblet. "This is shit wine."
"Water."
"Oh." She giggled again and covered her mouth behind her hand. "For water it is great."
"I love your giggles," he said as his head dropped onto hers.
Ginny didn't reply and stared at her goblet for a good few minutes, entranced.
Harry sagged against her and she patted his cheek. "Har, you're dozing off, lie down."
Harry mumbled. "Right." He moved and dropped his head on her lap and closed his eyes again.
Ginny took his goblet out of his hand, putting it aside on the couch. She looked at him. "Not what I meant but okay."
Minutes ticked by and Ginny could gradually feel herself sobering up. She finished her goblet of water for good measure and spent the rest of the time watching the sleeping King in her lap.
Harry's eyes shot open. "Council," he said, trying to sit up but Ginny held him in place.
"You have another twenty minutes, it's fine," she assured him. Her grip on him softened when he settled back in her lap.
"Oh," he said. He rubbed his eyes before looking at her. "Hi."
"Hi," she replied.
"What an idea to give us that in the middle of the day," Harry complained.
"You knew! And you still drank it!" she argued.
Harry grimaced. "I've never had more than a sip but then you downed the whole thing... I had no idea this would happen."
"Never again." She shook her head.
Harry nodded. "Agreed."
"And not at our wedding. You don't want my brothers on that, trust me," she added.
"Oh, for sure. That's some dangerous liquor." Harry sat up now. "Okay, we do need to go to council soon." He softly kissed her lips.
"You still taste like Whiskey, have some more water," she suggested.
Harry chuckled. "The council members are not in the habit of kissing me."
She took his goblet and shoved it into his chest with a smirk. "Don't be a smartass."
