A/N: And we finally meet all the brothers. Can't really call them 'Weasleys' because they are not but ... you get the idea!
I had a ton of inspiration for this chapter so it went quite quickly and my beta reader, megonagall410, was so fast! I could already post today and so I shall!
I have busy days ahead and less written for the coming chapters so please be patient, I promise I will be working on this fic and posting whenever a chapter is ready!
"Rise and shine, Knight of Mine," Harry said, coming into her chamber.
She opened her eyes sleepily and met his. "I could have been naked."
Harry's mood could not be spoiled. He smiled at her. "But then where would you hide your dagger?"
She reached under her pillow and pulled the dagger out. "Within reach."
"Good to know," he commented. "As soon as you've had some breakfast, I'll ask them to bring your brothers out."
That was enough to get her out of bed. It was today, the day was finally here. She would be reunited with all her brothers for the first time since she was seven. She stepped out of bed and walked up to Harry. She put her arms around his waist.
"I want to say thank you again for even wanting to do this. It means more to me than I can ever explain." She kissed him softly.
His hands found her hips, keeping her close. "I know."
"Fingers crossed," she said. She kissed his cheek, his lips lingering there for a moment. "Time for you to meet my family."
He nodded and released her. "See you downstairs in a bit." He smiled and disappeared into his room.
She stood beside Harry, awaiting her brothers. They were both equal parts excited and scared. She had her helmet on until they were inside. The door opened and six guards appeared, each leading in a brother. A necessary measure, they would try to make a run for it otherwise. Her brothers all looked well, healthy and she just wanted to run to them. She had to be patient though. They did not seem to be happy to be there, but she assumed that would change as soon as she showed her face.
Her brothers lined up from oldest to youngest as if they did that every day, still after all this time they did it without a second thought. She ached to complete the line.
Most guards left but Seamus paused in the doorway. "Are you sure you don't want one or two of us to hang back, Sir?" he tried carefully. "That's six to two and they're... not to be messed with."
"Thank you, Seamus. But I assure you we have it handled. They are also not prisoners so they can go if it pleases them. Just do your guard duty."
Seamus nodded and bowed. He exited the room and closed the door. Ginny's heart pounded in anticipation.
Harry faced her brothers. She could see the nervosity in his eyes. "I am sure you are wondering why I brought you here," Harry started.
Bill glanced down the line of brothers and back at him. It wasn't hard to come to a conclusion. "To kill us, I presume."
"Not at all," Harry told him. "I will explain in due course. Please, let me introduce you to my Knight first." Harry pointed at her.
Ginny wondered if any of her brothers recognised her. They knew she was a Knight, but they may simply not expect her here. She saw a twinge of recognition on Bill's face, but he remained silent. She eagerly grabbed onto her helmet and pulled it off swiftly.
It was silent for an eternal second.
"Hi, brothers." She could not contain her smile, she was so happy to meet their eyes.
"Ginny!" Bill reached her first. She had seen him most often, but it was always good to see him. His long hair was almost the same length as hers. His arms wrapped around her as he hugged her tightly.
She saw Harry step out of the way as her brothers forgot about him for a moment. She met his eyes for a moment and he smiled, looking tearful. Charlie hugged her then before holding her face between his course hands to look at her. It had been ten years since they had last seen each other.
"My dear sister, how you've grown," Charlie said.
"You've grown old," she retorted. Tears threatened to spill but her smile was wider.
Charlie chuckled and pulled her into another hug but was promptly pushed away by Fred.
"My turn," he said. His hand balled into a fist.
She made a fist too and bumped against his knuckles as hard as she could. He bumped back and then their hands wrapped around each other. They both pulled until Fred got off balance. He wrapped her into a hug too.
Ginny spotted Ron, waiting his turn. "Come on, Ronald." She opened her arms. "Bring it in."
She was met with a wide smile and his arms wrapped around her. "How are you still so short?" he asked.
She scoffed. "Still stronger than you," she responded.
Ron shook his head. "That's not fair."
She pulled Percy to her, the most reserved of her brothers. His hug was the softest. "Hey Perce."
"Hi, little one," he greeted. He petted her cheek fondly.
George appeared in front of her last. He grabbed hold of her and ruffled her hair. "Hi, honorary brother."
"No! George! Stop it!" She chuckled through her objections.
Harry waited patiently as the brothers all greeted Ginny. Then they lined up again, facing him with a little less animosity. All sported red hair and freckles, they were unmistakeably siblings.
Ginny stepped towards them. "Let me introduce you to my brothers, King Henry."
She stepped towards her oldest brother. He was tall, muscular and handsome. His long hair was worn wildly and almost as long as Ginny's. He seemed to be the type of person that just commanded respect and attention when he stepped into a room. He'd do well as King.
"This is Prince William," she said. "Eldest and largely responsible for keeping us alive."
William looked at Ginny warily but he allowed her to go on. Ginny moved to her next brother. He was the shortest of the bunch. Stockier and more broadly built, he looked to be the strongest of the bunch. He looked tanned and had some burns on his arms. Harry remembered he worked with dragons, so that made sense.
"This is Prince Charles. Second oldest. He's got nerves of steel."
Charlie bumped against her with a smile but she ignored it and moved on to the next brother. Harry was getting worried about remembering names. He wondered if they could just stand in order all the time. The next one was tall and thinner than the previous two. He stood up very straight, making him look even taller.
"Prince Percival. He is the smartest one." She grinned and squeezed his arms.
This comment made Percival lose his composure as he turned towards his sister. "Oh, now you admit to it."
"I said smartest, doesn't mean we are stupid," Ginny commented.
Then came two identical-looking men. They were shorter than the brothers they stood next to but still as tall as Harry. They were a little stockier like Charles was.
"This is Prince Fredrick," Ginny said, pointing to the two.
"It's George," the first twin said.
Ginny folded her arms and looked between her two brothers. She sighed. "Nice try, Fred."
She moved to the second twin. "And Prince George. They are the hardest to catch, quickest thinkers."
Then she pointed to the last brother. Tall and a little lanky.
"And my youngest brother, Prince Ronald. He's the strategist."
She stepped one more time and completed the line. "And then there's me, but I don't need an introduction." Her bright eyes met his with a smile.
Harry took a deep breath. "I want to welcome you to the Ignotian castle. I know you are not easy to get hold of. I have a proposition and I hope you will listen to it. As I said to my guard before, you are not prisoners so you are free to go. Well, except Ginny but she does work for me."
Ginny smiled at his comment. Her brothers all looked from him to her.
He gestured to the table. "Please sit down."
She walked to the table, her brothers in tow. They sat down in order too. Bill sat next to the King's chair and all the way around. She completed the line, sitting down next to Harry on the other side, across from her oldest brother.
She had calmed down somewhat when greeting her brothers but now her worry increased again. If they said no, if Harry said the wrong thing, ... anything could make this whole plan fall apart in seconds.
Harry folded his hands and addressed Bill, a wise decision on his part. "Ginny came to work for me as Gwyn a few months ago. First I discovered she was a woman... then I discovered she was a Princess. A secret she was very upset I found out."
Bill's eyes flitted to hers. She knew he had questions. Keeping their secret is what kept them alive but she didn't speak. They could talk later.
"When I realised you were all still alive..." He shook his head. "If you want to take the throne back, I can help you. I have my army and two strong allies who will lend me some of their forces if I ask."
"If you have all the forces, why don't you just annex the thing?" Bill asked, testing his motivations.
Harry's mouth quirked upward the slightest bit. "Interesting. Ginny said the same thing." He regained his composure. "We were allies before, we can be allies again. We can have trade charters again. Right now, all I get from them are refugees."
It didn't need many more words, Bill knew well enough what state Harpia was in.
"I don't need more land. I want to honour the allyship we had."
Ginny locked eyes with her brother. "It's the opportunity you have been waiting for, Bill. This is it. Throne back, we can live our lives without having to hide... Harpia is better off in our hands, in your hands."
Bill nodded. He had put on quite a stern face. He looked at his brothers.
"I understand you need time to think that over and to discuss it amongst yourselves." He stood up. "Food will be brought here for you to enjoy. I have lunch with some Lords to attend to." He swallowed. "There's one more thing I want to say."
Ginny looked up at him.
"And I want to make very clear that this is separate from regaining Harpia. I will do that either way if you want me to but ..."
Come on, Harry. Spit it out.
"I would like to marry Ginny." His eyes met hers and she smiled encouragingly. "It—"
Ginny shot up from her chair and he fell silent. She turned to Bill. "We would like to marry, if you let us. If we get Harpia back, then it would strengthen the allyship too."
Bill's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He seemed to chew on his words for a moment. "We will consider both your proposals." Not a sliver of emotion could be discerned, showing he did not trust Harry.
"Thank you."
Harry walked towards the door and Ginny put on her helmet.
"Are you sure you don't need me to stand guard during lunch?" she asked.
He shook his head and spoke quietly. "No, I think this is your moment. And at the very least spend some quality time with your brothers." He smiled reassuringly.
She closed her visor and Harry opened the door so the food could be brought in. Ginny waited until all the food had been put on the table and she closed the door. She pulled off her helmet again, beaming at her brothers. Just seeing them all together at the table, was the greatest gift she had ever received.
She walked back to the table. They sat in silence, staring at her as she sat back down at the table. She took some food for herself, knowing they'd speak when they wanted to. If they had questions, they would come.
Some of the brothers followed her lead and took a plate and filled it with food. Ginny did not miss the butterbeer among the drinks.
"So what's the deal?" Bill asked.
"What do you mean?" she tried.
"Harpia, a fucking wedding?" he summarised.
"I know it all sounds a little crazy and it is a lot to take in but I promise this is a good idea," she told him.
Bill scoffed. "Well, excuse me for not jumping for joy. Do you understand what kind of danger you're putting us in by bringing us here?"
"There would always be risk involved if we wanted Harpia back. You know that," Ginny said. "Don't you want Harpia back?"
"Of course I do!"
"Harry is a Royal. He understands the risks. He can provide security we don't have. And he can give us Harpia," she attempted to argue with him.
"Harry?" Charlie asked carefully.
She blushed. "King Henry goes by Harry the same way I go by Ginny. We're close."
"Right," Bill said. He leaned towards her. "You meet a King and you just want to marry him ?"
She didn't want to say too much. "We are in love. So of course I want to marry him, but we can't do that if I can't be a Princess in public."
"That's what this is about?" He grimaced. "You think you can play with all our lives so you could get married?"
"Do you think I am an idiot?!" She took a piece of bread and aimed it at his head.
He covered his head with his arms, but the bread hit him on the forehead anyway.
"He started finding you before I finally said yes. I am not naive and you should give him more credit."
"Ginny, we don't know him," Percy defended.
"But I do and you know me," Ginny said. "He wants to get you Harpia back. The wedding is just a bonus. Something I want personally. However, if we do marry, we may do it before just as well. It will strengthen the bond; everyone keeps their word and we all go kick some ass!"
Percy opened his mouth again but Bill held his hand up. "What do you mean you finally said yes?"
"He proposed twenty times before I said yes. I didn't want to believe it." She decided to tell the truth because it would put Harry in a better light. "He actually ended up retracting his proposal. He wanted me to be able to go home with you guys when we won Harpia. He wanted me to be with my family because he knows what it's like not to have any." She paused and looked at Bill. "Him retracting the proposal actually made me realise how much I wanted it and so he proposed once more."
George chuckled. "You say right and Ginny goes left. You never change, do you?"
"Who taught me that?" she shot back in amusement.
"What about Harpia?" Bill asked now.
"Have some food while you speak, Bill," Ginny offered.
He hadn't made a move to get food since it arrived. Charlie reached out and put food on his plate.
"Harry wants to get us Harpia back because he thinks it's the right thing to do. His parents were killed and he very nearly died too. He knows you are meant to be on the throne. He understands the risks perfectly well too. The fact that he knew me and he understood what we've been through, I think caused him to want to take action. This is our only chance."
Bill seemed a little offended. "Hey, I have been working for ages to get together some people..."
"How many?" she asked. The efforts did not matter if they didn't have the numbers.
"500."
Which wasn't enough. "How many of those can fight?"
Bill's jaw clenched. "Maybe 200."
"If we add those up with the Ignotian ones and his two allies—"
"Who are his allies?" Bill asked. "Orion?"
She nodded in confirmation. "Yes and the Moonlands. If they send even a quarter of their forces and add those up to Harry's, the numbers will be in our favour."
Bill nodded. "If... then yes."
"Bill." She reached out to his hand. "I have been training for so long. I have won battles for other people. Imagine what I can do if it's for our cause."
He was starting to look hopeful but yet he shook his head. "I don't know if I can trust him."
"You don't have to. Just trust me and my judgement."
Ron spoke up. "You already said you are in love with him, does impair your judgement a bit."
She turned to Ron beside her. "I am in love, not concussed. I have seen enough as a Knight to know what a bad man looks like. Harry is not that." She looked at Bill. "You don't have to trust him fully yet, I know it takes time. But know he will keep his word and that I trust him. If you spend a little time with him, you'll see what kind of person he is."
Bill nodded. "I want to talk to King Henry again but if he stays true to his word, this may be the opportunity we've been waiting for." His eyes softened a little. "And in that case, I guess it would be dumb to oppose a marriage like that. You'd be Queen."
Ginny's heart leapt. This was going in the right direction. "Yes. And I do know it means I am will not be in Harpia but we could visit or you could visit. We'd all have the lives we were meant to have."
He offered a reserved smile. "We would."
George leaned forward to meet her eyes. "What is your function here exactly?"
"Oh, I am personal Guard to the King. Got some assassins sneaking around."
Bill, who had finally started on his food, paused. "Assassins? And you bring us in here?"
"They're after the Ignotian throne, not ours. And as you can see, I have done my job well and he is still alive. I wouldn't be concerned about your own life when he's walking around. They'd much rather go after him."
Bill nodded. "I guess assassins we do know how to handle."
Ginny smiled brightly. "It's a minor thing."
There was a knock on the door and Ginny put her helmet on again. She opened the door. Some servants cleared the table. Harry walked in.
"And?" he asked as he came to stand beside her.
"Getting there but not convinced yet," she responded.
"That's good. I can work with that," he said.
As the servants left with the last of the food, Ginny closed the door. Her helmet came off again and they walked to the table.
"I hope you enjoyed the food?" Harry said.
Bill nodded. "It was good."
"Do you have any questions?" Harry asked.
"Yes." Bill sat up straight. "If we say no, what happens?"
Ginny looked at him in surprise. She was sure he was almost convinced.
Harry didn't flinch at the question. "I return you to where we found you, or elsewhere, with whatever backstory you deem plausible and I'll vouch for you." He looked at Ginny. "That includes you."
She raised her eyebrows. "You know I don't..." she trailed off. She didn't know what she wanted.
Harry met her eyes, nodding in understanding. It was complicated. There was no right answer. Harry's eyes landed on Bill again.
"Actually, I wish to speak with you in private."
This surprised Ginny too and there were some objections along the table.
"Of course," Harry said. He looked at her other brothers. "The guards have been briefed; you are free to roam the castle if you wish."
Reluctantly her brothers stood up.
Ginny locked eyes with Bill. "Can I stay?"
"No." Bill's look was stern.
She decided not to argue and stood up. "Please don't stab each other while I am out."
Harry smiled. "I won't. And they were searched for weapons when they came in."
She scoffed and reached out to Bill's belt and took out a small knife. "You forgot who they are related to."
"Of course." Harry didn't seem impressed.
She was about to walk out when Bill stopped her. He reached into his sleeve and took out another small blade.
"Now I am unarmed," Bill said, trying to show his goodwill as he handed it to Ginny.
Ginny shook her head and tucked the knives into her belt. She gave Harry a hopeful look and with her helmet on stepped outside. She closed the door and five ears landed on the door.
"Guys."
She was ignored. Suddenly something hit the door from the other side and the five brothers jumped back and yelled, clutching their ears.
"Get away from the door, you fools!" Bill's voice came from the other side.
With a huff, they turned around but none of them seemed to be keen to go anywhere.
Harry watched as William came to sit again. He was ready to bargain, be diplomatic. This was his strong suit.
"Harpia and Ignotia share the longest border, I am sure we can—"
"Tell me about my sister." William's arms came to rest on the table, looking at him expectantly.
Harry closed his mouth, taken aback by the request. "You don't want to talk about Harpia?"
"I know my Royals too, I keep an eye on all, just in case... I know you have the means. What I don't know is if I can trust you. I want to believe Ginevra, I do... But she's just one person. So tell me, do you love her?" His expression was unreadable.
"I do love her." He frowned at William, unamused that the focus was on Ginny and whether her judgement was correct. "You know your sister is quite smart and she is one hell of a Knight. She is strong and independent, and I really think you should give her more credit. I know you are the Head of your family, but she can make her calls quite well."
Harry could detect the tiniest sliver of amusement on the Prince's face, but he didn't let his mask drop.
"What else?"
Harry didn't know where to start. "She is amazing. She is kind, she is merciful, she is quick with both her words and her blades when she wants to be... She hides her pain well. She loves all types of animals. She is ridiculously stubborn..."
"Ginny said you proposed twenty times, why?"
He shook his head. "It was a game. She never said no. It seemed to amuse her and I had nothing to lose."
Ginny stood outside with her brothers impatiently. She wondered what they were talking about that she wasn't allowed to overhear.
"Come on, they may be a while," she said to her brothers. "We can go someplace we can talk."
Her brothers followed. It was cold outside, but it was the safest spot for them to hang out. She walked with them to the stables, where it was a little warmer.
"Is that Red?" Ron asked when they neared their stalls. He reached out to pet her.
"Yes, isn't she lovely?" Ginny said.
"She looks great." Red bumped against him. "And she remembers me!"
"Who else is in her stall?" Charlie asked, looking in.
"Oh no, she is in his stall. That's her handsome husband, Lightning," she said with a smile.
Charlie chuckled. "Your horse has a boyfriend?"
Ginny called Lightning to the door and he greeted her. She shook her head. "No, they are married. I made Harry marry them as King. They're in love."
George warily shook his head with a chuckle. "That's so very typical of you."
"Initially I was opposed to it. Lightning is the King's horse you see."
Percy frowned. "Why?"
She faced the horses again. "I was struggling with my own feelings for the King at that point. Red wasn't exactly being subtle about her interest in Lightning."
"There were horsing around?" Fred said, provoking a chuckle from half of her brothers.
"Ow!"
Ginny turned just in time to see Ron jump back from Prongs.
"That little bastard bit me!"
She smiled apologetically. "Sorry, should have warned you. Don't take it personally, he is a bastard to everyone."
"Great?" Ron responded, rubbing his arm.
Ginny walked on and sat down on the haybales, the rest settling down too.
"You are now aware of my whereabouts but what about all of you. Charlie, still fighting dragons?"
Charlie gasped. "Raise, not fight!"
She leaned towards him. "Tell me raising them doesn't involve fighting them? They are as big as a small house."
"They're misunderstood!" Charlie argued.
Hagrid walked in. "Did I hear dragons?"
"Hagrid!" Ginny said cheerily. "Guess what!"
"Yes, that's why I am here." He sat down beside Ginny. "So these are all your brothers, then?"
Ginny nodded. "All but one. He's talking with Harry."
"Right. Very exciting!" he said.
"This is Hagrid," she introduced him. "He is caretaker of the grounds and animals here. He is the only other person in the castle who knows about our plans." Ginny looked at Charlie. "Hagrid loves dragons."
Charlie looked at Hagrid with much enthusiasm. "Really? Which one is your favourite?"
"You can't possibly make me choose!" Hagrid argued.
Charlie stood up and went over to shake his hand. "That is the right answer." He sat back down. "I've been working with a group of Orionese Mountain Dragons, absolutely magnificent creatures—" He paused when he caught Ginny's expression, smiling at him. "What?"
"I've missed you."
Eventually, Hagrid had to get back to work and they continued talking about what everything had been up to. Ginny listened eagerly as each of their brothers spoke. She felt like she was a little child again, when she enjoyed listening to her older brothers' adventures and wished she could have her own adventures. More hugs were shared, jokes were told and for a few minutes, she forgot why they were all there and what discussions were happening inside.
Hagrid reappeared. "They have decided, you can all go back in."
They all scrambled up immediately, eager to find out what the decision was.
Ginny walked up to Hagrid and looked up to meet his eyes. "Did they say anything?"
"No." He shook his head, looking disappointed too. "I tried of course, but Harry just told me to get you lot. I think he didn't trust me not to tell you."
Ginny patted his elbow. "Thank you for trying."
They all walked back inside, now softly discussing possible outcomes. Ginny didn't join in discussing, she felt too nervous to really want to let her mind wander to all the possibilities.
Ginny followed her brothers inside the room and closed the door as she took her helmet off. The two men stood in front of them.
"So," Harry started. He glanced at Bill. "We have come to an agreement."
