Chapter 06: Superhero Team up (Edited)

"How do you want to do this?" Danny asked Peter.

The two of them were standing on the steps above the Big Sky Billiards Room.

"I thought you had been here before?" Peter asked him.

A duplicate of Danny was on the roof watching his bag so he would not have to tell Aunt May that he lost another bag.

"I have I just wanted to know if you had any goals you wanted to achieve while we are in there. Maybe find something to arrest Wilson Fisk for? Maybe find the guy with electric powers that electrocuted you? Find out where that guy came from?" Danny asked.

He had learned a lot about Peter Parker while they were coming here. How he got his powers, how he got his first costume, How the only relative he had left was his Aunt May. He seemed to have a lot of stress.

All the more that he does not deal with this on his own.

"Do you have a goal that you want?" Peter asked him.

"Yup. I am going to hit Fisk where it hurts." Danny said.

"What do you mean?" Peter asked.

"You will see. Let us go in." Danny said as he walked up to the door and with a touch turned the door intangible so they could walk right through It.

It turned solid again after they passed through. A duplicate was left by the door so that none of the criminals inside could escape.

"Hello Blackie." Danny said walking in the room and heading towards an Italian wearing a green shirt and a dark red jacket.

"Phantom what are you doing here?" Blackie Gaxton asked.

He was glad to people knew of him here. He had been surprised to learn that neither the Ultimates or Peter had not heard of him before he saved him from being thrown off a building and confronting him the next day.

"My friend has some questions for you." Danny said taking a seat at Blackie's table in a chair across from him.

Peter was standing behind him ready to react if his spider-sense alerted him to any danger or tried to leave the building.

"Wilson Fisk. Tell me what you know about him." Peter said as he picked up a billiard ball in his hand.

He was strong enough to turn the ball to dust, but he wouldn't unless a point needed to be made.

"I ain't saying nothin. No body would respect me if I opened my mouth when questioned." Blackie said. 'The Kingpin would totally kill him if he talked. Just thinking about what he did to that Russian was enough to know how serious he was about his goals. I am not dumb enough to spill anything to anybody whether they be cops or superfreaks.'

"Come on Blackie you don't want to make my friend upset. He can get really cranky when that happens." Danny said and watched as the billiard ball Peter was holding in his hand was crushed.

Peter was reluctant to threaten people that were not committing a crime and so he had told him to just look intimidating. Guess he decided what to break.

"Another mutant freak. We don't want your kind in here." a blonde man in a brown jacket said sitting at the bar said.

"That is hurtful, and I do not appreciate racism." Danny said with his glowing eyes looking at the man.

He wished he had telekinesis right now so he could send the man flying.

"You want to fight me like a man without your freaky powers?" The man asked clearly drunk and looking for a fight.

His drink was spilled on the table.

"No because superpowers are great for beating up people with ideas of racism or enjoy hurting others." Danny said.

"Phantom. Focus." Peter said causing him to sigh and turn back to Blackie.

"You sure about this Blackie?" Danny asked the lounge's manager.

"Blackie ain't no snitch." Blackie said.

"Fine then. If you will not give me the information of your own free will then I am just going to have to take it." Danny said as he created duplicates that flew into the regular people at the bar while he himself flew into Blackie's body.

"What are you doing?" Peter asked him.

"Getting the information, we wanted." Danny said his voice coming out of Blackie's body.

The bodies of the club's regulars were all lying down unconscious.

"Is that going to hurt them?" Peter asked.

"No, they just will not remember anything past the point I overshadowed them." Danny said slightly lying to Peter while reabsorbing duplicates.

He was going to erase their memories of them ever meeting them tonight. Otherwise, they might tell Wilson Fisk about their visit long before they wanted him to know. There was no need to walk into a trap.

"Alright but promise that you will never do that to me." Peter said. "Just looking at that sent a shiver down my costume covered spine."

"Alright. I give you my word I will never try to overshadow you." Danny said.

"So did you get the information that we needed?" Peter asked.

"Yeah. I know about Fisk, about the guy with powers working for Fisk and I also know where we are going to go next." Danny said.

"What do you mean?" Peter asked.

"We are going to target something Fisk loves more than anything." Danny said.

"Fast-food restaurants? I mean the guy is big, but I think the rest of the country would have problems if we did something to them." Peter said.

"Funny. I meant his money." Danny said. "I learned from Blackie and some others in their places where Fisk kept the money he is given as part of his protection racket before he sends it to be cleaned and put in the bank." Danny said as he reabsorbed the duplicate by the door.

"So, are we going to head there now?" Peter asked him.

"No. Tomorrow is when most of the money will be there so I was planning to wait until then to deal with the money. Get as much of it as I can in one go." Danny said.

"What do you plan to do with the money?" Peter asked with a suspicious tone of voice.

"Not sure yet. I am between three choices. Throwing it in the East River, spreading it around town, or simply setting the lot of it on fire and leaving a picture for the Kingpin to find." Danny said.

"That seems a tad extreme. We could just hand it over to the police." Peter said.

"Have you never read comic books or watched a movie? Whenever there is a criminal organization led by a rich businessman there are always dirty cops on his payroll to make things disappear." Danny said.

"I do not believe that. Our lives are not some kind of comic book." Peter said.

"You believe in what you believe in. I believe in what I believe in. Let us split the difference and call it even." Danny said holding his hand out for Peter.

"Fine so we come back and do this tomorrow?" Peter asked.

"You got it. Now let's head back home. I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow." Danny said.

He flew the two of them back to the roof his duplicate was waiting on. Peter grabbed his thrown bag back while he was reabsorbing the duplicate.

"We have school tomorrow." Peter said.

"I know it is one of the many things that I have to do and the least enjoyable." Danny said.

"How have you guys been?" Danny asked landing on the Triskellion.

There were soldiers performing drills on the ground level. They stared at him when he landed but returned to their drills once the agent in charge got their attention. He was very glad that he did not have to participate in any of that.

Well since no one was here to see him he might as well go and explore. See what S.H.I.E.L.D. was hiding in their giant walls. He was curious to see if he could find someone who was knowledgeable yet loose lipped enough to tell him what happened to General Ross.

He started walking in a general direction to see how far he could go before someone tried to stop him.

"Who are you?" A male S.H.I.E.L.D. agent came up to him.

He is a few inches short of six feet and had dark hair.

"I am a member of Fury's new superhero team." Danny said. "Who are you?"

"Agent Grant Ward. Now what are you doing in this area?" Ward asked.

"I made a wrong turn somewhere. This place can get confusing with the whole every floor looks the same." Danny lied.

"You really expect me to buy that?" Ward asked.

"Maybe I don't know how cynical you are." Danny said.

He was not really worried about being discovered. He could just overshadow the agent and then erase his memory afterwards.

"Does not matter right now. You have to go to the lounge and meet the others. You have a photoshoot with reporters in twenty minutes." Ward said.

"I knew there was something I was supposed to be doing right now." Danny said as he started walking past the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"Hey Kid." Hank said as he joined him.

The only other people in the room were Janet, Dr. Banner, and some woman he did not know.

"Where is everybody else? I thought that this was a group thing?" Danny asked.

He knew that Fury was in another continent trying to recruit Thor but Stark and Rogers should be here.

"It seems like everybody else decided to ditch. Tony is probably either at a business thing or drunk." Hank said.

"My money is on drunk." Danny said.

"Steve decided to see what happened to his old neighborhood since he went off to war." Janet said.

"Is it even still around?" Danny asked.

He had been gone since the forties. His neighborhood could be a shopping mall right about now. Or a flower shop. Or even a weird art museum.

"Yes, but it probably is not a nice place as he remembers it." Hank said. "What is with the bag? You skipping school or something? I thought you were a ghost?"

"I have plans for later and this is to hold the stuff I need." Danny answered.

"Let us focus people. We have a lot to prepare for and very little time to do it." The woman he did not know said gaining their attention while Dr. Banner looked more miserable since the last time that he saw him.

"Who are you?" Danny asked.

"I am Elizabeth Ross I am the public relations manager between the Ultimates and the world." Elizabeth said.

"Are you related to General Ross?" Danny asked wondering if this is how he could get his answers.

Maybe he could hear whatever excuse Fury gave to Ross' family and use that to find the truth. He doubted that a man such as Fury ever told people the truth regardless of whether it was involved in the spy world or just regular stuff.

"He was my father." Elizabeth said.

He could see that she was uncomfortable, but he needed answers to his questions.

"What do you want us to do Betty?" Janet asked clearly knowing Elizabeth for a long time if she was calling her Betty.

"We are going to be doing interviews outside. You are going to show off your powers for a bit and try to reassure the American people that you are here to help. After that we are going to have a celebratory dinner with senators, celebrities, and even the President. Hopefully by later tonight Captain America is back." Elizabeth said.

"That is going to take up all day." Danny said.

"Yes, it is so if you have anything else planned push it back." Elizabeth said giving him an intense stare so that he would know that she was serious.

He was not going to be giving up his plans, so it looks like he was just going to have to have a duplicate take his place. He already had one at school right now taking his classes and helping Peter come up with a plan to attack Fisk's money.

Before he could say anything, he heard the phone in his bag begin to vibrate meaning he was being called.

"I will be right back." Danny said as he got his phone and walked out of the room.

There were not many people that had his number. Looking down at the phone he noticed the call was from the Xavier mansion. This was the first time Rogue had called since he had given her his number when she left with the X-men back to their mansion. He had been planning to visit but after she got used to the place.

So, this was a good surprise.

"Hello." Danny said as he phased to the outside of the Triskellion.

Inside the facility there were probably many listening devices, so he refused to answer phone call while he was inside the place.

"How are you?" Rogue asked him.

"Kind of bored. I am stuck doing this annoying thing for Fury." Danny said.

"Oh. I was calling to see if you wanted to hang out. I was bored too. But if you are too busy.." Rogue trailed off.

"No, I can ditch what I am doing right now. I can leave a duplicate in my place, so they do not notice." Danny said.

"Cool. Do you know where the mansion is?" Rogue asked.

"I have a good idea." Danny said as he created another duplicate and took off flying.

As long as nothing too serious came about then the duplicate would last for a pretty long time. If not, it would alert him to a problem, and he could come rushing back.

Danny landed in front of the gates of the Xavier mansion. He gained the knowledge of this location from when he overshadowed Richard. The Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters was located in Westchester, New York. It was a large school separated into three regions.

"You made it." Rogue said with a smile on her face.

She was no longer wearing the one-piece bodysuit that weapon x gave them. She was wearing a pale cloth over a short dark green top over a green shirt that went from her black collar on her neck to her gloved hands. A dark black skirt covered her black leggings which led to her green boots. Her makeup had also changed. Instead of the red lipstick like before she was now wearing purple along with a matching shade for her eyelids.

She looked better than all the girls in his high school.

"I do not like letting my friends down." Danny said as Rogue opened the gate.

"Let me show you around." Rogue said grabbing his hand in hers and dragging him inside the gate road that led to the school.

"I take it you like it here." Danny said noticing the smile on her face.

"It is alright. It is better than the last place." Rogue said. "The professor has given me a laptop so that Ah can start classes. Ah had not been to school in a while and so ah need to catch up."

That reminded him of something he had been meaning to ask her.

"What is your real name?" Danny asked Rogue causing her to stop her from dragging him up the steps.

"What?" Rogue asked turning back to him.

"I know weapon x called you Rogue, but I wanted to know your real name." Danny said.

"Ah don't like it." Rogue said as she shook her head.

"What?" Danny asked.

"My past is not something I liked to dwell on." Rogue said. "Can we talk about something else?"

"Sure. How about we go back to you showing me around." Danny said grabbing a lock of white hair and brushing it out of her face.

"Okay." Rogue said as she turned and opened the mansion's door.

"So how have they been treating you since you got here?" Danny asked wondering how the others might have been treating her given she had kidnapped them so that a rogue military organization could use them as weapons.

That type of thing did not go away that easily.

"Nah. They have been great." Rogue said.

He really loved her southern accent. He could hear her talk all day.

"How many students are here now?" Danny asked.

"Not counting me or the X-men team there are six other students here." Rogue said leading him through the mansion.

"Do you guys have to share rooms?" Danny asked.

"Yes, the younger students share rooms. The only ones that get singular rooms are those on the team or over eighteen." Rogue said.

'I kind of wished that were not the case. Having a single room would probably make it easier for them to hang out.'

"I hope she is nice." Danny said.

"Were you thinking of seeing what mine looked like?" Rogue asked him.

"I would not be against it, but I think we should save that for a later time." Danny said as she led him to a gym full of lifting equipment and a punching bag.

"Ah like to spend time here punching this. It helps with the memories." Rogue said.

It made him to wish he knew where the weapon x people were so that he could hurt them even more for what they did to her.

"What else can you show me?" Danny asked Rogue knowing that there were probably some places in the mansion he was not allowed in.

Like the danger room where they practiced.

"Ah can take you out back and show you the courtyard and the pool. There is also a basketball court, a library, and a movie theater." Rogue said.

All that did was cause him to imagine Rogue in a bikini and that just caused him to trip and when he opened his eyes he was lying beneath Rogue. His back was on the ground with his hands on her hips. Her hands were on either side of his head. They just stared at each other not paying attention to anything else.

"Sorry. Is your head, okay?" Rogue asked as she put one of her hands on his face.

"I will be okay. Though I am pretty happy where I am now." Danny said with a grin as Rogue stood up in a hurry.

"Shall we continue?" Rogue asked grabbing his hand and pulling him up.

"Sure." Danny said as he let go of Rogue.

"What have you been doing since ah last saw you?" Rogue asked.

"I am trying to take down a crime boss with this guy I know." Danny said as he and Rogue reached the outside.

The pool they had was pretty big. He wondered what it would be like to take Rogue ice-skating on it.

Danny could see that there were a group of four guys playing basketball ahead of them. The only one he recognized from the group was X-man member Iceman Bobby Drake.

"Who are you?" The question was asked by a kid with brown skin and blond hair.

"Back off porcupine. This is a friend of mine." Rogue said stepping up and glaring at the kid.

He was kind of annoyed that no one seemed to know who he was. The news interview was supposed to deal with this.

"Relax Evan this guy is cool. He saved us when we got captured by weapon x." Bobby said as he came over while holding the ball.

"I heard about that. So, you are the one they call Phantom?" Evan asked.

"Yes. I am." Danny said as he met Evan's extended hand in a handshake.

"I'm Daniel Evans but I chose the codename Spyke." Evan said. "The other two guys are Sam Guthrie codename Cannonball and Ray Crisp codename Berserker."

He pointed at the tall blond and then the blond with orang tips sticking out of hair like a fruit.

"Cool to meet you guys." Danny said before glancing at Rogue who had a frown on her face. "You guys can get back to your game. Rogue was gonna show me around and there is plenty of places that I wanted to see."

"Alright. See you around." Evan said.

"So, what did you want to show me next?" Danny asked.

"There is the theater room." Rogue said as she took him back inside.

"Cool." Danny said taking a look around the giant screen in the darkened room.

"Yeah, the Professor had it built so that we could have the option of watching movies without having to go to actual theatres where we might get into a fight with humans." Rogue said.

"Is there anything that you want to watch right now?" Danny asked her.

"Ah have a laptop with movies I have wanted to see but never had the chance before. You wait here and I will set it up and get snacks." Rogue said.

Ten minutes passed with Danny tapping his finger on the armrest.

"Ah'm back." Rogue said with a bucket of popcorn and some sodas.

"So, what movie did you pick?" Danny asked.

"The first Chronicle of Narnia movie. It was my favorite book when I was growing up and I wanted to watch the movie when I first heard about it." Rogue said connecting the laptop with the projector so the movie would appear on the large screen.

"Rogue, do you want to hold hands while we watch?" Danny asked.

"Ah'd love to." Rogue said instantly but then looked away with another blush.

He was really liking that look on her face when she got embarrassed. This was clearly a better way to spend his time while he waited for tonight to happen. He watched as she took off one of her gloves and held it on the armrest between them. A few seconds later and his hand joined hers.

"So, are you ready?" Danny asked Peter while they stared down a warehouse.

He had his duplicates taking care of the others in the area.

"Yeah. I want to show Fisk that he cannot break the law and expect to get away with it." Peter said as he fired a web at the Warehouse in front of them.

"Then let's go." Danny said as they went to the warehouse and then Danny phased them through the window and landed them in front of the money.

Danny found the lights and flipped them on.

"There is so much." Peter said staring at the stack of money that was so big it was the same height as a five-level library shelf.

There was probably sever hundred thousand dollars held in the shite sheet of plastic. That was just the amount here so in all of his hideouts could be up to ten million dollars.

"Yup. I still say we should give it away or something. There is a lot of people that can use this to start new lives." Danny said.

"No stealing from criminals even to help other people is still a crime." Peter said.

His friend's morality was a lot firmer than his. He would not be surprised if some of his duplicates were moving the money right now to be used in case of an emergency.

"Fine we can take it to the police if you still want to." Danny said with a sigh.

"Come out here you son of bitches!" A voice called out over what was possibly a megaphone.

"Do you know who that is?" Danny asked Peter.

"It sounds like the guy that electrocuted me back at Fisk's place." Peter answered.

"So looks like if we do not want him to get the money we are going to have to fight." Danny said.

"That is fine with me." Peter said.

Good then there was only one thing left to say.

"Come in here you poor excuses for criminals." Danny yelled as loud as he could.

The gate to the warehouse opened before them and he could see a couple of cars parked outside. Standing outside was a group of twenty people. Some were tall, some were skinny, and some were fat. The group was made of a variety of people. There were African Americans, Hispanics, Caucasians, probably some Irish too. It was like a representation of all the people New York came to try and kick their asses.

"I see your back kid and this time you brought a friend." The guy in charge said.

He was a bald man wearing a black body suit under a dark jacket. According to Blackie's knowledge this was Maxwell Dillon. His street name was Electro.

"You want to fight the guy with powers, or you want to take the gangsters?" Danny asked as he started walking forward.

"You can handle the living lightbulb if you want to." Peter said.

"Sure thing. Here are some duplicates to help you out." Danny said creating two more duplicates.

They would take care of making sure that Peter was not struck unaware.

"Boss that is The Phantom. He is supposed to be working with Stark and Captain America." One of the thugs said as he got closer.

Looks like celebrity dinner event was helping spread his name around after all.

"I do not care if he is the tooth fairy. I want his freak friend dead and him beat down so bad that he wished he never crawled out from his grave." Electro said his eyes beginning to glow yellow.

"You fools could not beat me on your best day." Danny said as he flew to Electro and gave him a punch that brought him to his knees.

"You are going to regret that." Electro said grabbing on to his leg and trying to fry him.

It did not work as he turned intangible and walked backwards out of his grip. The arc of electricity traveled up the warehouse and crashed against the ceiling blowing a new hole in the place.

"I do not think that is how you turn a light on." Danny asked before giving Electro another punch that brought him to the floor.

"Boss." one thug called out only to get his feet stuck kicked out from under him and stuck to the floor with Peter's webs.

"Good assist Spider-man." Duplicate 1 said.

"You will regret this!" Electro shouted as he stood up and tried to hit him with a fist full of electricity.

Danny floated backwards to avoid the hit.

"How did you know that we were here." Danny asked as he floated above the arc of electricity Electro fired which hit one of his men and sent him unconscious.

At least he hoped that was the extent of his injuries.

"That was kind of harsh. Maybe you need more time practicing your aim?" Danny suggested as he avoided more and more of Electro's strikes.

"Just shut up!" Electro yelled as he launched a double handed blast.

Danny just turned intangible and watched as the money that was behind him was lit on fire.

"Seriously Phantom?" Peter asked him as he was webbing up the other criminals. "We had agreed that they were going to give this warehouse stash of money to the police. They needed evidence if they were going to put these people away."

"We can give police money from some other safehouse. We are hitting so many of them tonight." Danny said.

"What?" Electro asked in a tone of voice that was both shocked and horrified.

"Yeah. If your boss calls you can tell him that he has lost several of his warehouses that are filled with his "protection" money." Danny said with a smile as he blasted Electro in the chest and sent him sliding on his back across the floor.

"You enjoyed tossing me out of a window? Well, I am going to enjoy seeing you behind bars." Peter said.

"You think the two of you punk kids can do this and there will be no consequences?" Electro said as he burned his way through the webbing.

"Good here come the threats. Last things villains always say before they are sent to jail." Danny said both to himself and to Peter.

"We may not know your name, but we know what your face looks like. The Kingpin will not allow this to go unpunished. he will make sure that you suffer in ways your young mind cannot comprehend." Electro threatened only to spin back to the floor thanks to his backhanded punched.

"Then I better learn all the secrets of Wilson Fisk that you know." Duplicate 2 said as it overshadowed Electro.

The knowledge would flow from the duplicate to him while the duplicate kept the man restrained while they waited for the police to arrive.

"How do you think they knew we were here?" Peter asked him.

"Turns out that the safehouses are kept under electronic monitoring so when we started attacking the others a signal was sent out and so they came looking. Good news is that they brought the last of the money they were going to store in here so we can still give it to the police like you wanted." Danny said.

"So, it all worked out." Peter said.

"So far." Danny said.
