Josephine woke up from her nightmare safe and sound in her bunk bed curled up in a ball and she streched and yawned arching her back and flicking her tail, feeling strange. She peeked through the windows to see the town at dawn, peaceful and rather quiet as most of the exotic wildlife was yet to wake up. She peeked down to see Jessica was half awake and was rubbing her eyes and yawned loudly as she whispered to Josie "Goodmorning Josie" Josephine whispered back "Good morning Jessica hope you had good dreams, I heard you toss and turn in your sleep alot"
Josie whispered back in response "Tonight was...alright. But not the weirdest dreams i've ever had. I think what you said last night was right, I think Katrina would figure out why my dreams are so weird." Jessica looked concerned and asked "Um J-josie...what did you dream of? I'm sorry if thats too personal?" and Josie responded with "It's fine Jessica. I dreamed that my...family...back on Earth found out about my new strange powers and they hated me for it. They wanted nothing to do with me! They thought I was a freak!" Jessica held in a sharp Gasp and said "You're not a freak you're my friend! They would never say that, friends and especially family stick together forever!" and they hugged eachother.
Josie said "I think your right, they wouldn't do that!" wiping away tears. "But I just never had these powers before, humans don't think powers are real let alone actually having them" Josie frowned. "When I opened that golden musical box with the frog on it that had these...admittingly very elegant 4 gem stones on it the weirdest thing happened to me! Not only did I wake up in this world in the jungle all alone and scared but I had this thing happen where I saw my life flash before my eyes and everything glowed! It was so strange!" Jessica listened and nodded with a sympathetic smile on her face.
Josie continued with "I felt like the universe sent me that as some message and before I did that I had so many dreams about this cosmic cat that jumped inside me and would purr on my lap and say that "everything would be fine". I just find this just so much...who am I and what is my destiny? and Will I ever find the girls again that I came with? Did they die, its been a month and this place isn't exactly the safest yknow? I just wanna be happy" Josie shed some more tears as Jessica hugged her and stroked her hair and ears. "Your destiny is to be myand our friend forever. I'll get Katrina to help since she has heard rumours about a gemstone box prophecy from olms...I think? Don't worry we'll help you find your friends and everything will be okay! Never ever give up! Yesterday was hard and difficult but this is a new day and this new day will be great! Sweetheart never feel sad" and Josie cheered up and shared her smile.
Jessica smiled "As soon as we're done eating breakfast I'll think of something nice we could do to cheer you up and maybe Amanda can ask around for your friends. She has connections I believe. Me and Evelyn or Katrina hang out a lot together so having girls time with a new girl will be soooo much f-fun! I don't have many friends outside of the family to be h-honest" she told Josie a bit bashfully.
Josie said "You're such a sweetheart, I'd think you'd have LOADS of friends, just groups of people dying to get a chance to get to know you! You're so friendly!" Jessica smiled but said "Yes thats nice you say that thank you but to be truthful I'm very shy" She started painting her claws with pink paint she brought the other day.
Josie said "I see...one of my friends was very smart but a bit shy too around people too. Very sweet but silly and clumsy so we'd look out for her!" Jessica perked up after the claw nail polish was done being applied to her claws and asked "Who is this friend your speaking of, her description reminds of kinda of Katrina to be honest?"
Josie smirked and said "My friend Marcy of course! She loved Creatures and Coverns and editing music videos of Anime" Josie reached out of her phone and showed her the AMVs they collabed on. Jessica said "Your so good at magic those people in the box are moving! Your friend must be very smart!" Josie just giggled as she remembered amphibians don't really know how phones worked. "And your right Katrina would like being her friend to be honest".
Jessica asked "Didn't you have two other friends you said right?" Josie's smile shrunk a little, she missed them but left on awkward terms. they weren't enemies per say but friends? she wasn't sure. Josie said "We left on awkward terms. I don't wish to discuss it any further but I still miss them okay? I'm not cruel or heartless" Jessica said "Fair enough, if you don't wanna talk about it i'll leave that convo behind. Uh...next topic?" Josie said "Yeah sure girl...Um...do amphibians play games? Or wanna watch more Anime vids?" Jessica said "Heck yeah we do! We play tabletop games too! Seems to be a universal thing! And I'm loving these Annie-May Viddy-os wheever she's trapped in your "FONE" tell her to make more! I like the blue haired girl in them she's so cool!" As they chatted the other two girls and their mom woke up for breakfast.
Amanda rubbed her eyes as did Katrina and Evelyn and they stepped out of their bedrooms. "WAKEY WAKEY GIRLS its breakfast time" Amanda called and Evelyn lightly hopped over to their shared bedroom and Katrina said "I'm here mom I can hear you I have ears". Amanda smiled and didn't notice her attitude. Amanda hugged all the girls including Josie. "I'm making chocopede pancakes!" Evelyn squealled "THOSE are my favorites yipeeeee!" Katrina said "I'm very partial to them!" Jessica said "yay mom you're the best! I love them!" Josie said "i've never had them are they any good?" Evelyn said "ARE THEY? THEY'RE THE BEST!" Jessica said "ESPECIALLY when SHE makes them!" Josie said "I'm looking forward to them!" This breakfast morning was looking great she couldn't wait.
Amanda said "You girls are all so sweet! Here you go" and she served up plenty for the girls and some for herself. They dug in and loved the chocopede pancakes and they were sooooo delicious! Evelyn said "THIS IS YOUR BEST BATCH YET!" Jessica smiled "I know right? I want seconds!" Katrina said "Me too!" Josie said "I've never eaten anything this good in my life, forget seconds I want a hundreds! no a thousands! I WANT MORE!" Josie let out a huge purr in happiness and the girls all laughed together having a good time.
Amanda turned over to Josie and asked "Are you feeling better? After yesterday you must be exhausted, today or maybe this week I'll do the work since you must be so tired especially after what happened, I'm so sorry about that." Josie said "Yeah I'm feeling kinda sluggish especially since I can't seem to control it very well...Its okay you don't need to say sorry momma lotl" Amanda smiled at the nicknamed Momma Lotl, so cute! Josie continued "Jessikins told me Katrina read about a box the similar box that my friends found back on Earth that took me here she highely suspects my powers come from that but why?" Amanda gasped and said "Yes me and Katrina have read up on that box named The Calamity Box, its labelled as highely dangerous. And your friends had it? Y'all are like what 13? How did you even find it?! Its so irresponsible to give something so dangerous to a child!" Katrina spat out her catapillar milk and said "YOU HAD THE WHAT? As in THAT box?!" showing a page in the book about dangers of Amphibia that had the rumoured box and pulled her hair.
Katrina growled "You're only Jessica's age, just a child! What, how?!" Josie said "A friend of mine told me she...um...brought it from some dusty old shop for free...yeah and we opened it together and such" Katrina said "Well that shopkeeper back from where you were was an idiot! What the heck were they thinking giving it away like it was nothing, so disrepectful!?" Amanda said "Katrina calm down please girl it was probably a misunderstanding, they probably didn't know about it and thought it was a jewellery box or something" as Amanda stroked her long hair. Katrina said "But still its an important but dangerous part of Amphibia culture! Oh nevermind it doesn't matter all that matters is that Josie is safe and the box doesn't hurt her too badly!" she cooled down quite a bit.
Amanda said "That is true, Josie needs to be safe and sound thats all that matters ain't it sweetheart? Yeah well anyway, I just wanna tell Josie if you're too groggy from yesterday you can just have some girl time at home okay" Josie said "Thanks momma lotl I will"
Josie and the girls spent a lot of time together for the day playing games on her phone, watching anime AMVS dancing along to them and watching Anime episodes (Jessica and Evelyn demanding more Annie-mays with Evelyn using her long frog tongue to change to the next episode or Jessica's tail and Katrina wanting to work out how the "fone" worked but they said NO don't dismantle it!), writing stories, painting their nails, having pillow fights, drinking boba tea that the boba was bugs and one of the bugs crawled up Josie's nose that made her shout WHAT the heck? and she sneezed it out, trying out different outfits and spa time. Katrina and the girls played Creatures and Caverns together and enjoyed acting as their characters they made up on the spot! It was so much fun they had such a great day together! As they promised Amanda they always cleaned up the best they could afterwards!
Josie said "woo hoo! that was a great day so much fun!" and they all sighed together happily, Amanda looked exhausted but smiled at the girls happiness. Amanda said "I'm so happy to see you all had a great time while I was gone!" Evelyn said "WE DID! JOSIE IS SO COOL!" Amanda said "Thats nice to hear!" Josie said "If I'm having this much fun, just imagine what my friends are up too! This is a goldmine of fun! Maybe they're so happy they're too distracted to say hello!" Katrina flicked her hair and said "Ha Maybeeeeeee! Maybe fun is their new best friend instead" Jessica laughed as she held Josie and said "Ha ha totallyyyyyyy".
Josie wondered where her friends were and she figured for now they were okay. She could relax and not worry.
Anne went to bed wondering where Josie was, sure Anne was safe with the Plantars her new frog family and having fun but still where was she? Its been a month and no sign of her or Sasha or Marcy? Would she even survive? Sure she said her dad went camping with her sisters so she had SOME Survival skills and she was very imaginative and super creative so she might figure something out but was that really enough to survive a harsh world even the locals perish every day? She was so worried about her, she should of treated her better and stood up to Sasha's jealousy, something she would regret not doing.
Sasha clenched her fists and seethed bitterly in her prison cell, getting captured by the toad army literally on the first day she arrived and now spent a month in this prison cell. She thought that the 4th girl was a curse, every romcom or girls movie she watched where a fourth girl was added into the group it always ended with the group disbanding and finding different people or the fourth girl is the new leader and kicks out the old leader or she even died. A 4th girl was a bad omen just waiting to happen she never should have done it. She hated that hedgehog girl!
Marcy was so delighted to be in such a cool fantasy world with everything she could of ever dreamed of like a game of Creatures and Coverns brought to life! And the newts here were soooooo cool! It was like a dream come true! But where was Anne Sasha and Josie? She hoped they were okay and would ask Andrias or Yunan and Olivia to search for them. Being a ranger that protected the city and went on cool quests was better than any video game but without the girls it wasn't as fun though.
