Chapter 3 - The Final Member
Somewhere in a mountain compound, a young man wearing a red copper jacket over a white shirt, along with pale blue jeans and white sneakers was walking towards a wooden home; he stopped right outside the door and sighed. "Right, let's get this over with," Yusuke muttered. As he approached the house, he was greeted by a giant blue bird-like creature. "Hey little guy, how ya been?" Yusuke asked, petting the spirit beast who replied with his familiar screech.
"How long are you gonna keep me waiting, Slacker?" an old woman called out to him. "Get in here already!"
Yusuke turned to the entrance but didn't move to go in. Pu then nudged him to the house. "Alright, alright, I'm going. Hate how you can read my mind," he grumbled before stepping into the house, immediately spotting his elderly mentor sitting in front of her tv screen with a cup of tea in her hand. Genkai didn't turn to face the detective as she took a sip of her tea.
"So you've finally come to see me?" Genkai asked.
"I wouldn't have to if you would just die already, Grandma," Yuskue replied.
"And lose one of the only things I have to live for, tormenting my favorite Dimwit?" she joked. "Not a chance. I'm not going anywhere for a long while, Yusuke."
"Good to know, you old hag, cause I've got a favor to ask," Yusuke stated. He then held up his hand and caught a controller from Genkai's game system.
"You know the deal, if you want to talk then you gotta play so I don't get bored from listening to your crap," the old spirit master told her student. Yusuke complied and sat down beside his master, plugged in the controller, and prepared to play her in a fighting game.
"You know you really oughta get a new game system, Grandma. You could play so many new games if you did. They sell plenty of them in the city," Yusuke suggested.
"Ha! You expect me to travel to those big cities? Do I look like a city girl to you?" Genkai asked.
"You don't look like a girl at all, just an old fossil," Yusuke joked, receiving a punch to the arm from her. The game finished loading and the two prepared to play.
Somewhere in a bamboo forest, three fighters were squaring off against each other. Kazuma Kuwabara stood in the field, only wearing blue pants and with his eyes closed, the wind blowing as he patiently waited. His eyes then opened when something dashed behind him; he looked around him constantly as his adversary sped around him. Kurama, wearing his usual outfit, came into Kuwabara's view and pulled out a small leaf that immediately extended into the length of an actual blade and swung it at the human. Kuwabara dodged the strikes before shouting, "Spirit Sword!" summoning his signature weapon and using it to block Kurama's next attack. Kurama pressed on and summoned his rose whip, using it to bind Kuwabara's other arm and then pulled him towards himself before kicking him in the gut and sending him sliding across the ground. "Man, you've really gotten stronger, Kurama. You've practically left me in the dust," Kuwabara said.
"I wouldn't say that. I can sense that your spirit energy has grown since our last meeting," Kurama commented.
"Yeah, but I'm still far behind you demon guys," Kuwabara stated before immediately getting up. "All the more reason to increase my training so that I can catch up to Urameshi! So come on, let's kick it up a notch!"
"If only your strength was on par with your loud voice," the three eyed demon wearing a black cloak commented as he made his presence known. "I honestly can't understand why Yusuke would ask you to enter the tournament again."
"Because pipsqueak, Urameshi knows what I'm capable of and probably thinks you guys'll need me to win!" Kuwabara said confidently.
"Ah, so he wants to sacrifice you and get stronger from your demise," Hiei joked, making Kazuma glare at him. "Try to make it last this time."
"Hiei, be nice," Kurama chided. "Though I am surprised you agreed to be on our team again. I would have assumed you'd join Mukuro."
"And miss the opportunity to fight her again? Even that's worth putting up with you fools," the fire demon snorted.
"He means that he enjoys fighting with us, that way he can do most of the fighting," Kurama translated.
"You really are a pain," Hiei commented.
Kuwabara giggled. "So, do you guys know who our fifth member will be? Is it gonna be Genkai again?"
"No, she said her time for fighting is long over. Yusuke assured me that he'll find someone suitable for the spot," Kurama explained.
"Then we'll leave that to be his problem. Now, if we're done talking, let's get to training. I need a sparring partner and a practice dummy. I'm sure you two can guess who will be what," Hiei declared as he removed his cloak.
"I'll show you a practice dummy!" Kuwabara said, bringing out his spirit sword.
Back at Genkai's compound, the spirit detective was struggling to get the edge on his mentor in the video game, and not having much luck. "Dammit Grandma, how are you still this good?"
"Years of practice, Slacker. You may have surpassed me in fighting, but I'm still better at games," Genkai chuckled. Her smile then changed into its usual stoic expression. "So what did you come here for?"
"Come on, you old hag, I thought you were supposed to be psychic," Yusuke commented.
"So this is about the upcoming DW Tournament to decide the next Demon King. You'd better not be asking me to fight with you again," Genkai said.
"No way. I know that your fighting days are over, Grandma. But we do need a fifth fighter for our team, and I think I have the perfect candidate," Yusuke stated.
"Let me guess… Kuroko Sato?" Genkai asked.
"Wow! Did your psychic powers tell you that?" Yusuke asked. "Yeah, I want Kuroko Sato on my team, so could you ask her for me?"
"I'm not Botan, you know. Why don't you just ask her yourself?" Genkai suggested.
The Spawn of Raizen starts to rub the back of his head. "Yeah, well, we didn't exactly end on a good note," Yusuke explained. "She said she couldn't trust me."
"So what you're really asking is for me to convince Kuroko to fight alongside you," Genkai guessed.
"Guess you really are psychic," Yusuke joked.
"Please, I just used my brain. You should try it sometime," Genkai replied.
"I'm gonna let that comment slide cause you're a frail old lady and I need you right now," Yusuke said. "So what do you say, Grandma, you gonna help me?"
"Of course I am, just not in the way you think," Genkai said, confusing her student. "Alright Kuroko, you can show yourself now." Just as she said that, the former Spirit Detective opened the door and entered the room. "I hope you were listening."
"Yes Genkai, I heard," Kuroko said.
"What the hell, Grandma?! She was here the whole time?!" Yusuke demanded.
"What did you expect? I've got better things to do than ask for favors on your behalf," Genkai said before turning to address the younger woman. "That being said, I expected better from you, Kuroko. I sent Yusuke to you so that you could help him however you could, but it doesn't seem like you did much of that."
The female Spirit Detective had a solemn look on her face. "I did the best I could, but I wasn't the kind of help he needed. Besides, my family will always be my first priority."
"All the more reasons you should be helping him, to secure your family's future," Genkai stated. "What happens if a demon who values humanity less than this dimwit ends up being the new king of Demon World and decides to have an all-out feast here for them and their followers, how safe would your family be then?" The former Spirit Detective didn't answer but knew what the old psychic was implying. "You may not trust Yusuke much but as of right now, he's the best chance you've got of keeping things peaceful between the two worlds, unless you think you and your kids can handle a horde of demons on your own."
"Leave it to Grandma to make anyone see the bigger picture of things with just a few words," Yusuke thought.
Kuroko remained silent for a moment before saying, "I'll only consider doing it if Yusuke asks me himself." The two ladies then looked at the Spawn of Raizen who wouldn't meet their gaze.
"We're waiting, dimwit," Genkai told him.
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Yusuke said, immediately looking at his predecessor. "Kuroko, will you join my team for the Demon World Tournament? Please?"
Kuroko gave a small smile. "Maybe, but I actually had another condition for joining your team."
"What's that?" Yusuke asked.
"You have to beat me at video games at least once," Kuroko explained.
"Ha! No problem!" Yusuke declared. "I hope you're as good at games as you were at dealing with apparitions."
"Dimwit," Genkai chuckled. The two former Spirit Detectives sat down, picked up their controllers, and prepared to play.
At Mount Paozu, a few days after visiting the Crane Students, the three students of the Turtle School were sharpening their fighting skills while Bulma and Chi-Chi were inside the house. Goku blocked an attack and dodged a kick from Krillin before exchanging blows with Yamcha. He kicked the former bandit in the abdomen and knocked him into the ground, before evading another strike from his classmate by flipping backwards over him and palm striking him into the other turtle student. The two groaned as Goku appeared beside them and offered his hands. "Man, I don't know why I thought we'd stand a chance if we double teamed you, but as usual you take the win," Krillin commented.
"Guess we shouldn't have expected to fare against the champion who defeated King Piccolo and his son," Yamcha said.
"Aw don't sell yourselves short, guys, you just gotta keep trying. You'll get me eventually," Goku assured.
"Not unless Kami decides to train us like he did you," Krillin said.
"It could happen," Goku told them.
"I don't know how we're gonna stand a chance against a whole world of demons when we can barely handle you…" Yamcha muttered.
"Not to mention we still need to find two more fighters for our team," Krillin pointed out.
"Don't worry, I'm sure we'll come up with a few candidates in time. But for now, let's focus on training. Now let's get back to it" Goku said. Just as the three prepared to square off again, they stopped when they sensed an energy signature approaching their location; they looked up and spotted an aircraft from a distance. "Hey, is that Tien Shinhan coming here?"
The vehicle landed before the three and the friend they mentioned stepped out. "Yep, that's our three eyed pal. But why's he here?" Krillin wondered.
"Isn't it obvious? He and Chiaotzu really did want to join our team. I knew they couldn't resist a good fight," Yamcha stated.
"But then, where's Chiaotzu?" Goku asked. "I don't sense him here."
"Weird, I thought those two were always with each other," Krillin said.
"Goku! Are you guys finished sparring?" Chi-Chi called out.
"Yeah, honey! And we've got another visitor!" Goku replied. The two ladies then stepped out and saw the Crane Student coming their way. "What's with that look on his face? Is he upset about something?" he pondered. Soon their friend was standing right before them, still looking grim about something. "Tien, are you alright?"
"Yeah man, what's with the long face? And where's Chiaotzu?" Yamcha inquired.
"Chaiotzu's been hurt. He's recovering on Kami's lookout," Tien replied.
"WHAT?!" everyone shouted.
"Shortly after you guys left us, we were attacked by Tao," Tien explained. "He was stronger than when we saw him at the tournament. Chaiotzu was quickly incapacitated and then Tao just left us with a message."
"What message?" Krillin asked.
"That he'll also be entering the Demon World Tournament," Tien revealed.
"What? How does he know about that?" Yamcha questioned.
Goku started to look around and though he spotted what seemed like a small insect, he stated, "I don't sense around here, so that leaves him spying on us out of the question."
"Why didn't you take Chiaotzu to Korin's tower for a senzu bean?" Krillin asked.
"I did…" Tien replied.
Flashback - Tien Shinhan climbed the long tower with his left arm and legs while carrying his friend on his right. When he finally got to the top, he was greeted by his feline mentor and the chubby swordsman, who was currently having a meal. "Tien, it's good to see you," Korin said.
"You too Master Korin. Though, I wish it was under better circumstances…" Tien admitted.
"Yes, it looks like young Chiaotzu is in need of a senzu. Unfortunately, I have none at the moment," Korin told him. "Someone has been feasting himself on my special beans and greatly shortening my supply."
"Well excuse me if I don't want to go up and down this tower every time I want a decent meal!" Yajirobe argued.
"I'm sorry Tien, but I won't have any more senzu for a while as the plant is still growing new ones," Korin apologized.
"I see. Well then, maybe it's not too late to get Chiaotzu to a hospital," Tien suggested.
"That won't be necessary. We'll treat him," a voice spoke from behind the Crane student. He turned to see a short black-skinned humanoid dressed like a genie with red lips and void eyes standing on a magic carpet.
"Who are you?" Tien questioned.
"This is Mr. Popo. He's the attendant for Kami," Korin explained before asking, "So does Kami know what's happening then?"
"He does, just as you do," Popo replied. "And though he won't offer any direct assistance, he'll allow Chiaoztzu to recover in the Sanctuary." Tien just stared at the attendant, a little uncertain. "I give you my word, that your friend will be safe with us."
"Alright. Please look after him," Tien requested as he handed his friend to Popo.
"What are you going to do now?" Korin inquired. Tien didn't respond but simply clenched his fists. - Flashback ends.
The Three eyed baldy finished telling his story to the others. "Sorry to hear about Chiaotzu, buddy," Yamcha consoled him.
"I'm sure he'll pull through, he's a fighter after all," Krillin reassured.
"I know he'll be fine, but I didn't come all the way here just to tell you guys that. I wanted to ask Goku something," Tien said.
"What is it?" Goku inquired.
"Are there any spots left on your team?" Tien asked.
"I thought you didn't want to enter the Demon World Tournament," Krillin pointed out.
"That was before that madman Tao attacked my best friend and threatened to kill my other friends. If he's really going to be there, then I wanna be the one to take him down once and for all!" Tien declared.
Goku put his hand on Tien's shoulder. "Don't worry Tien, you'll get your payback when it's time. But for now, welcome to the team." Tien smiled at his former rival before Yamcha came up and placed his arm around him.
"Alright! Knew you wouldn't let us down, buddy! Now we've almost got a full team!" he cheered.
"Almost? Your team still isn't complete?" Tien asked.
"Not yet, we still need one more to make it five," Goku answered.
"So do we have any other candidates for the final spot?" Krillin questioned.
"Well, maybe when Chiaoztu recovers…" Yamcha started to say.
"No! While I have faith in Chiaoztu's abilities as a fighter, his true strength lies in his psychic powers. Even if he does get better in time, I'm not sure he'll be much help. He's already been killed by a demon once before because of me and Tao almost killed him twice, I don't want him risking his life for a good while," Tien replied.
"Okay, so Chiaoztu's out. Then how about Yajirobe?" Goku suggested.
"That's another no. I asked him to come with me in case you guys wanted extra fighters for your team, but he refused. Said he had no interest in fighting in a tournament where his death would be a spectacle," Tien explained.
"Great. All we need is one more fighter and two of our best options are out," Krillin complained.
"Isn't there anyone else we can ask? What about Kami? He's a really good fighter," Yamcha suggested.
"Nah, Kami believes he's too old for fighting. Plus his job as guardian is more of an observation job, he's not supposed to do much fighting and neither is Mr. Popo. Dealing with Piccolo was more of a personal thing," Goku told them.
"C'mon Goku, you've traveled around the world. Didn't you meet any fighters who could fill in the final spot?" Krillin asked.
"Hey I know, let's ask Jackie Chun. That guy was super strong, he'll be a great addition!" Goku suggested.
"Uh, I don't think that would be a good idea either, Goku," Tien said.
"Why?" Goku asked cluelessly.
"Because Jackie Chun was actually Master Roshi in disguise," Bulma stated bluntly.
"Huh?" Goku said.
"What? You knew?" Tien asked.
"Wait, so I was right about that?" Yamcha asked.
"Well, that explains the disappearances," Krillin mused. "How'd you figure it out, Bulma?"
"Uh hello, a super strong perverted old martial artist who knew the Kamehameha wave from your school, ring any bells?" Bulma asked while the turtle students gave her dumbfounded looks. "Plus, we've all seen Roshi without his sunglasses on, the resemblance is uncanny. Though I didn't know Tien already knew that before now."
"I found out during the tournament when I fought him," Tien explained.
"Well, I guess that leaves him out for joining the team," Krillin said. "Do we have any other suggestions?"
Goku pondered a bit. "Well, I did meet this one guy who's super strong, but he doesn't like fighting. I don't want to force him to help us. I also met this girl with crazy strength and invited her to join the World Tournament, but I haven't seen her in years. Hey, how about Nam?"
"No way. Why not one of Baba's fighters?" Krillin suggested.
"What about Pamput?" Yamcha asked.
"There's also King Chappa," Tien gave his input.
"Hey, why not me?" Chi-Chi blurted out. The four male fighters looked over at Goku's wife who was standing there with Bulma; immediately, Krillin and Yamcha burst out laughing. After a few minutes, they stopped when they noticed she was glaring at them.
"Oh, I think she's serious," Krillin whispered.
"But…she can't be…" Yamcha said.
"And why is that? I'm a pretty good fighter you know," Chi-Chi reasoned.
"Look Chi-Chi, no one's denying that fact, but just because you're married to Goku doesn't mean you can handle this kind of dangerous stuff," Krillin said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" the Ox Princess angrily demanded.
"Uh, nothing! It's just that…" Krillin fumbled before looking at his fellow baldy. "Guys, help me out here."
"What Krillin means to say is that you might not know exactly what you'd be getting into. We're talking about facing demons here," Tien explained.
"I was there when Goku was first told about this tournament and I also saw his fight against Piccolo, so I'm well aware that fighting demons is no joke," Chi-Chi said. "But you guys need one more fighter and I'm volunteering, so why not?"
"Because you wouldn't stand a chance against a demon," Yamcha said.
"And exactly how many demons have you guys who aren't named Goku beaten?" Chi-Chi inquired, getting the guys to look away in shame. "That's what I thought."
"Hey, we've been trained by some of the greatest masters of martial arts," Krillin pointed out.
The female fighter scoffed. "I may not have been trained by Master Roshi, Korin, or Kami but my dad's training was enough to let me pass the preliminaries of the last world tournament just as you guys did, unlike a certain someone who isn't here right now."
"Low blow, Chi-Chi," Goku said.
"You're right, that was mean. Sorry Tien," she apologized.
"It's fine but that should emphasize our point a bit more, not everyone can handle this kind of dangerous stuff," Tien said.
"I used to train by killing vicious dinosaurs on a daily basis and I've traveled to the underworld with Goku before our wedding; I can handle dangerous stuff," Ch-Chi assured.
"The underworld?" Krillin looked at Goku questionably.
"It's a long story," Goku replied.
"C'mon guys, let her join. As your sponsor I say there's nothing wrong with a girl fighter on your team, unless that intimidates you or something," Bulma said.
"It's not that, it's…" Yamcha said before sighing in defeat. "Goku, what do you think? This is your team."
"Plus she's your wife. Whatever you decide, we'll accept," Krillin told him.
Goku pondered for a moment before approaching his spouse; after an intense moment of staring, Goku surprised everyone by performing a kick that stopped short before hitting the Princess, who just stood there, unflinching. "No reaction, I'm impressed."
"And I'm your wife, I knew you weren't serious in attacking me," Chi-Chi replied.
"I can see you're serious about helping us, so why not? Welcome to the team, babe," Goku told her.
"Yes!" she cheered.
"Way to go, girl," Bulma commended her.
"Alright, we got a full team!" Yamcha exclaimed.
"Goku, while I respect and acknowledge your decision, I'm still concerned about your wife's strength. And the team is only as strong as its weakest member, no offense." Tien said.
"Some taken," Chi-Chi replied.
"And it's nothing a little training won't fix," Goku suggested.
"Are we gonna have enough time to train Chi-Chi? We still have to train ourselves, you know," Krillin pointed out.
"Exactly, we can't afford to have anyone slowing us down. Again, no offense." Tien said.
"Okay, starting to take it personally," Chi-Chi said.
"Why don't you let me worry about helping the little mrs toughen up," a voice suggested. Everyone looked to see Goku's first teacher standing there.
"Grandpa!" Goku exclaimed joyfully.
"Hello Goku, I see you've assembled quite the team here," Grandpa Gohan noted.
"It's nice to see you again, sir," Krillin greeted him.
"Likewise young lad, all of you have grown so much since we met years ago," the old fighter said.
"Hey, who's the old man?" Tien whispered to Yamcha.
"This is Goku's grandpa, Master Gohan," the bandit explained.
"G-Gohan? You mean the legendary fighter who was Master Roshi's best student back in the day?" Tien asked, to which he received a nod. The crane student walked over to the old master and bowed to him. "It is an honor to meet you, Master Gohan, I've heard so much about you from my masters Shen and Tao."
"So you're a student of the Crane School? I hope your friendship with my grandson means our masters' rivalry has finally ended," Grandpa Gohan inquired.
"Sadly, no. While my friend and I have managed to look past the turtle-crane animosity, Shen and Tao are too stubborn and remain in their old ways," Tien replied. "Despite this, I know they truly admired your Martial Art skills; they had always wished you had been the prodigy of their school rather than Master Roshi's."
"Well, I'm glad the next generation managed to see the flaws in their teachings and haven't continued their misguided path," Goku's grandfather commended him before turning to Goku's wife. "But concerning my offer for Mrs. Son, if she's willing, Annin and I would be happy to train her so that she'll be more than prepared for the tournament."
"Who's Annin?" Krillin asked.
"Ruler of the border between life and death and Grandpa's girlfriend," Goku answered.
"Are you sir about this, Grandpa? I wouldn't want to be a bother to you two," Chi-Chi said.
"It's no trouble at all my dear, Annin would love to have a student of her own to pass on her knowledge to, and I would certainly love to get to know my granddaughter in-law," Master Gohan assured.
"Well… what do you think, Goku?" Chi-Chi asked her husband.
"Annin's our friend and I trust my grandpa, if they say they can help you prepare for this thing, then I believe they can. But it's your choice, honey," Goku replied.
"I trust them too, so I'll do it," Chi-Chi accepted. "When do we start?"
"Why not today?" Grandpa Gohan suggested.
"Wait, right now? I haven't packed. Am I going to need anything for this trip?" Chi-Chi questioned.
"Oh, you won't need much for this trip, but there is one thing you should bring with you. I believe the Bansho Fan would come in handy," Master Gohan said.
"Oh, I'll go get it," Goku offered and went inside the house. He returned moments later with the magic fan and handed it to his wife. "How long will Chi-Chi's training be?"
"Since there's only two months before the tournament, we'll bring her back a week before it's time for you guys to fight," old Gohan promised. "Now, shall we get going?"
"Just a minute, grandpa," Goku requested before pulling his spouse into an embrace which she returned. "I know it's just a few months, but I'm really gonna miss you."
"I'm gonna miss you too, dear. Feels like we just got married and now we're going to be apart for a good while," Chi-Chi said.
"Then we'd better focus solely on our training, we'll be so busy that the time will pass and we'll be back together in no time," Goku promised her. "Just be sure to come back to me."
"Oh I'll be back, and I'll be much stronger. So you'd better not slack off, mister, unless you want me to leave you in the dust," Chi-Chi teased him before kissing his cheek.
"I wouldn't mind if you did," Goku laughed. He then kissed her forehead. She walked away from him, bidding the others farewell before standing beside the old Martial Artist.
"Don't worry grandson, I'll be sure to bring her back," Master Gohan promised. "Alright Baba, we're ready to go!"
The old fortune-teller responded to his call by appearing before the group. "Alright then, let's get going." And on that note, the three immediately disappeared from the others' sight.
"Who was that?" Tien asked.
"The All-seeing Crone and Master Roshi's sister, Baba," Krillin replied.
"Alright, now that that's taken care of, let's get back to training!" Yamcha declared.
"Maybe you guys should relocate. You don't want to accidentally damage Goku and Chi-Chi's home, do you?" Bulma suggested.
"So where do we go?" Tien asked.
Goku and Krillin think before getting the same idea. "We know the perfect place to train."
Genkai's compound
After playing nine games against Kuroko, and having lost four rounds, Yusuke was playing her once again for the fifth time; they had been playing for so long that Genkai had fallen asleep. After losing to her in a sports game, shooting game, fighting game, and a puzzle game, Yusuke was now taking her on in a car racing game. Yusuke was angrily gripping his controller while Kuroko was calm and controlled; on the screen a green car and a blue car were neck in neck heading towards the finish line. As they were getting close, Yusuke decided to play dirty by attempting to ram into Kuroko's car, but she anticipated that and countered by jumping at the last second, causing Yusuke's car to crash as she drove over the finish line. "Damn it all!" Yusuke yells as he slammed his controller on the floor in frustration.
"Stop trying to break my stuff, dimwit," Genkai said as she threw a cup at his head.
"Your games suck, Grandma!" Yusuke exclaimed.
"The only thing that sucks is your gaming skills," Kuroko stated. "If you fight as well as you play then your team is in trouble, especially if you're its leader."
Yusuke growled before picking up the controller. "One more game!" he demanded.
"Again? We're gonna go through granny's entire game collection at this rate," Kuroko said.
"If that's what it takes then whatever! I'm not giving up till I get you to join!" Yusuke declared.
The ladies sighed as Kuroko placed her controller on the ground. "Alright Yusuke, you win. I'll join your team for the Tournament."
"Aw really? I was so gonna win the next game too," Raizen's heir said.
"No you weren't," the old psychic said.
"Don't get the wrong idea, I still don't trust you just yet. So I'll be using this tournament to see for myself the kind of person you are," Kuroko clarified.
"Fine with me, sister, just try to remember that you're not just a spectator. You'll be doing some actual fighting," Yusuke told her.
"Got it," the former spirit detective replied.
"Alright. Now that you've got your teammate onboard, I suggest that you get yourselves ready by doing some training. You don't want to be rusty for this thing," Genkai advised. "Now get your asses out of my home."
"Thanks a lot, grandma. And don't worry, we've got it covered." Yusuke assured as the two spirit detectives left the compound.
The three turtle students and the crane student rode on their hovercraft to the training island where Goku and Krillin were first trained by their master; after parking and capsulizing the vehicle, they unloaded their stuff and took in their surroundings. "Well guys, what do you think?" Goku asked.
"Nice place. Lots of wide space to run around and exercise," Yamcha commented.
"Plenty of trees and large rocks to test our strength on," Tien pointed out. "As expected of Master Roshi, he knew the perfect place for decent training."
"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Krillin asked.
The fighters smirked as they took their stances. "Let's get started!" Goku said.
Yusuke followed Kuroko to the area close to her home. "So Yusuke, why'd you suggest we train here? Shouldn't we join our teammates?" she inquired.
"Don't worry about that. For now, let's focus on our own training, specifically yours," Yusuke replied.
"Smug bastard," Kuroko muttered.
"Relax lady. We're just gonna toughen you up and give you a taste of what higher class demons can do," Yusuke explained.
"Alright, fearless leader, how do we do that without our team?" the 1st detective asked.
Her question was answered when three demons appeared around them: Hokushin, Seitei and Touou. "You remember these guys, right?" Yusuke asked.
"Yeah. They're your ancestor's servants," Kuroko said.
"Nice to see you again, miss," Hokushin greeted her.
"Alright then, now that we've all been reacquainted," Yusuke said as he stretched and took a stance. "Let's get started.
Grandpa Gohan and Chi-Chi made their way to Annin's castle and waited for her in front of the furnace of eight divisions. "Ms. Annin, I'm back and I brought your new student with me."
"Oh, goody," Annin replied. A few stomping noises later and the keeper of the furnace was standing before the mortals in her giant form. "Hello dear Chi-Chi, so nice to see you again."
"Always a pleasure, Lady Annin." Chi-Chi greeted her with a bow. "I'm looking forward to training under you."
"As am I, sweetie," the deity said. "Now then, why don't we get started?"
In North City, after Major Metallitron brought Launch to Gero's lab, the doctor was readying his equipment for the cybernetic modifications; Tao and Metallitron placed the ladies on examination tables and strapped them down. Suno and Launch struggled against their restraints with gags in their mouths.
The large screen then changed into schematics for his past Androids as Dr. Gero approached his captives, wearing a sinister smirk on his face. "Now then, why don't we get started?"
A/N: And there you have it, the two teams of the two infamously great anime/manga are formed. Now comes the training period; it's not gonna be a lot, just a few scenes, kind of want to get to the main event ASAP. Stay tuned, we're just getting started with this fanfic. Until the next chapter, TTFN.
