"Careful, take your time," Cat told Ladybug as he helped her onto the snowy rooftop. Ladybug grasped his hand tightly, her eyes shining as they took in the sight.
"Oh, Cat," she whispered. Two mugs of steaming coca sat in the snow, the steam curling into the winter air like a cat's tail towards the heavens. It was dark and quiet against this rooftop, and Ladybug wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
"The snow we got last night is so pretty, isn't it?" Cat asked, and Ladybug laughed. "That's because it makes you think of powdered sugar, and I know what a sweet tooth you have." Cat sighed. "Would you want to go look at the Christmas lights with me this year? There's a bus going tomorrow night." "I'd love that."
From their vantage point, this area of town didn't have many lights strewn across the rooftops yet, but both the heroes knew that would soon change. However, they had a front row seat as the Eiffel Tower lights clicked on, its light shining out in the darkness.
Ladybug sipped her coca, her pink mittened hands were warm as she wrapped them around her cup. "Your scarf is crooked," Cat's voice was gentle as he fixed it. For awhile, they sat in silence enjoying each other's company, and right now words weren't needed.
A hour later, Cat nudged Ladybug. "M'lady, look," he pointed to the moon, big and golden and peeking shyly over the horizon, slowly sailing higher and higher into the sky. "Do you suppose Santa sees the same moon at the North Pole?" Ladybug wondered. "I suppose so, yes. The moon is a wonder and a beauty."
Feeling warm and sleepy from the hot coca, Ladybug kept hold of her mug, her head slowly drooping against Cat's shoulder.
Everything was at peace tonight, so perfect. Cat closed his eyes, resting his head upon his partner's.
Just for tonight, they weren't hustling and bustling, or needing to watch out for danger. Tonight, they could enjoy the beauty of the night and each other.
The heroes now bathed in the light of moon, dreamed of Christmas and the happy memories they would share together was yet to come.
