I claim zero ownership

"Oh, Kagome!" A hand landing on her knee stole her attention. She picked her head up from Satan's shoulder, a low hum coming from her as she tore her gaze away from the page he'd been showing her. A second later, the cat on her lap stood and stretched before moving to situate herself on the blonde's own.

As she shifted her attention to him, she didn't miss the wide array of nail polish bottles resting on the table in front of her. Two were pulled aside, the rose-haired demon beaming at her. Excitement lurked within his orange eyes as she sat up fully to look at him.

"Did you finally decide, Asmo?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. She'd almost forgotten that she'd been there for the better part of an hour now. Almost fifteen minutes ago, Satan had pulled her attention to the book he'd been reading. It was a new one he'd gotten specifically for her. It was on how to properly care for a demon cat- just like the one that she now had.

The story of how Kirara ended up with her had been a long one, and, after a week and a half of Satan practically ranting about it to him, Lucifer had reluctantly agreed to keep her. Well, that's what he described it as, but she got the sinking suspicion that Lucifer just bit the bullet and gave in after it reached a full week with no signs of it stopping anytime soon. Not that he'd actually say it or admit to that.

"I haven't done these two for you yet!" Asmo exclaimed, showing off the two colors he'd selected. One was a soft lilac, while the other was a color close to blush. He looked away from them, catching her gaze. "What do you think?" he asked.

She glanced down at her nails. The prior color that'd once covered them had been removed. She didn't think they'd be a bad match. She nodded as she lifted her gaze back to his own. "I think they'll look great," she eventually replied.

That was all the response he needed before he held his hand out for her to place her own against. She did just that, and she let her head fall to rest on Satan's shoulder again as Asmo started the process of painting her nails. She knew that moving before he was done was out of the question. It wasn't like she minded it, really.

"None of those cats look like Kirara," she remarked once she'd gotten comfortable, dark locks falling against his shoulder. Satan chuckled, turning the page and tilting his head to her own. On it, she saw a breed that looked quite similar to the twin-tailed feline, just while in her larger form. "Well, not with her current form."

Satan chuckled. "Keeping her smaller form helps her preserve her energy," Satan explained, reciting a fact he'd read on an earlier date. "It's also a sign of relaxation and peace." Satan moved a hand so he could scratch behind Kirara's ears.

Kagome nodded. Her eyes fluttered closed as he began to share more facts with her. She didn't fall asleep, merely relaxing comfortably against him. As time dwindled by, she'd occasionally open her eyes to take a peek at Asmo's progress on her nails. Once he'd finished the last one, she moved to sit up, stretching her arms up above her head with a soft sigh.

"They're lovely, aren't they?" Asmo hummed when he caught her admiring his handiwork. He hadn't just painted them, but he'd also taken the time to add a faint touch of iridescent gem details. Kagome nodded.

She never bothered to do her own nails. It seemed like it'd never turn out as good as it when whenever he did them. She supposed it was also a good thing that he actually enjoyed doing them for her. Not just her own, either, but his brother's nails as well.

"I think this might be my favorite combination you've done," she commented. Asmo nodded in agreement.

"The pink is a new color," he stated. "I can't wait to try a new combination with it," he hummed. Kagome perked up.

"How about something pearlescent?" she suggested. His eyes brightened at the idea.

"Mmhmm not bad," Asmo hummed. She could tell he was already thinking of the possibilities. She turned to go on her way, leaving the room she'd been dragged to earlier in the day. As she left, she glanced at the time on her DDD. A frown etched its way onto her face.

It'd been almost two hours, and she'd yet to see him…

It took only a second for her to make her mind up.

Her soft knock on the closed door got her no response. She stood there for a second longer before she twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open enough for her to step inside. It didn't take her long to locate the figure she'd been searching for. One look at him and she knew why she hadn't gotten a response earlier.

Lucifer sat with his head on his desk, pen clutched in one hand while the other was buried in raven hair. A part of her didn't want to wake him, but she knew if one of the others caught him in this state then it wouldn't be a pretty situation.

Kagome approached the desk, circling around so she was at his side. A second later, she prodded at his tense shoulder. It took a few attempts before he picked his head up. Annoyance lurked in his crimson eyes for the first few seconds before the realization that it was her sunk in.

"How long have you been working?" Kagome asked. She didn't bother to let her hand move from where it rested on his shoulder. He didn't mind the touch.

"Far too long on this," he mused out loud. Kagome frowned, sweeping her gaze over the scattered papers spread out on the spacious desk. It was then that she recalled the main reason she came to check in on him.

"... would you like some coffee?" she asked. There wasn't much she could do to alleviate the stress on his shoulders, she knew, but there were a few things she was capable of to help.

"That sounds great," he responded as he returned himself to his usual glory. Kagome smiled. She knew he wouldn't reject it, after all.

"I'll be right back, then!" she exclaimed. He nodded and waved her off. Once the door closed, he sighed and shook his head. The paperwork was put in order as he got up from his chair. He made his way over to the couch to wait for her to return.
