(I completely forgot to add this in my first chapter, This story is dedicated between me and my friend SaberStar21 , who also a incredible story writer. )
The sun rises on the Boiling Isles and the day begins for the residents as the light shines through the windows of the Owl house. Luz and Amity where still sound asleep in each other's embrace with the palisman's , Ghost and Owlbert... so neither of them noticed a large horn appearing next to their heads and the one holding the horn was King , who silence chuckled to himself before taking a deep breath and blows the horn very loudly. The girls and palisman's now wide awake in a sleep daze , they scrambled to get out of their sleeping bags as the palisman's take off running/ flying to escape from the rude awakening and they escape out of the room and down the hall.
" What is it? Are we under attack ?" Amity asks drowsily.
" King ? Where did you get a tuba ?" Luz blinked, trying to wake up.
" Hehe, behold my deadly instrument of torture '' King chuckled.
" More like a crazy way to wake up for the day " Luz yawns, sluggishly sitting up.
The girls slowly woke up and they stretch their arms to get the sleepiness out and Luz winced when she feels a unusual feeling in her back mainly between her shoulder blades and she just brushed it off since she thought that it was a pulled muscle from the crazy night and they smell the delicious aroma of breakfast that woken them up even more.
" No kidding. You've should've seen the stuff that Ed and Em pulled off to wake me up " Amity agreed.
" Well , we can talk about some ways to get back at your siblings over breakfast " Luz said , a devious smile creeped on her face.
" Definitely " Amity grins " And King put down that tuba and let's head downstairs for breakfast ''.
The girls and King leaves the room and they head downstairs to get the day started and Luz is unusually slow this morning as she lagged behind her friends and they head downstairs and into the kitchen and they see Eda and Lilith cooking up griffin eggs, flying pig sausages, bacon ,pancakes and shrieking toast. Amity smiles at the warm feeling in her chest for she always longed for a loving family and in a way , she got her wish at the Owl House.
" Morning kids" Eda said "Who's hungry?"
" Me!" King said, running past the girls blowing the tuba , startling them.
" King, stop blowing that tuba. Musical instruments aren't supposed to be used that way" Luz said.
" Musical instrument?" Eda said, raising a eyebrow " I thought it was a torture device ".
" Your thinking of bagpipes" Luz said.
" Eh , tomato tomahto " Eda shrugged.
Eda and Lilith puts the griffin eggs, flying sausages, bacon , pancakes and shrieking toast on the table with eyeball orange juice and the girls pulled out their seat and king finally put down the tuba.
" Luz ?" King said , tugged on her night shirt.
" Oh right" Luz set up a high chair and placed King in it. " Don't forget your royal food catcher " she puts one of those plastic food bibs that have a scooped front to catch food on him.
" Ah yes" King nodded " Bring on the feast!"
"Ahem?" Eda said.
" Fine " King signed " Bring on the feast ... please".
" Thank you " Eda smiles and passes everyone their plates.
Everyone got their pick on breakfast and started eating enjoying the delicious food and the palisman's , Ghost and Owlbert finally came out of hiding and they grabbed a few sausages for themselves from the table much to everyone's amusement as Luz feels a strange sensation on her back like tingling feeling when your foot falls asleep but much stronger which makes Luz roll her shoulders to ease it.
" You ok ,Luz ?" Lilith asked seeing that Luz is uncomfortable.
"Yeah, I may have pulled a muscle or two last night " Luz answers Lilith.
" That reminds me " Amity summons her phone scroll and shows Eda and Lilith the picture of the nebula sky last night" Take a look at this".
" It's beautiful " Lilith gasps.
" You kids are very lucky. It's not often you see something in the sky of the boiling isles that isn't on fire or trying to eat you" Eda said, eating her sausages.
" True but it's so strange to see something like that " Amity said, glancing at Luz , only to see that her girlfriend has a pained expression on her face. Concerned, Amity reaches over to Luz " Luz ,are you sure that- " Amity was cut off when Luz let's out a gasp of pain when Amity touched her back and she immediately pulls back her hand and the others stops mid eating and they look worried at Luz.
" Sorry " Luz grimaced " My back is really hurting right now ".
" Oh, I know what to do" Eda said, running over to a table and grabs a book " This book is all about fixing human back problems, the title reads ' Chriropacting for dummies ' with a picture of the human spine on the front. " Apparently human backs can be fixed if you crack them enough".
"Really?'' Lilith said , taking the book "Fascinating ".
Luz thinks about it for a minute and gets out of her seat and moves back a little bit and straightened up her back earning multiple SNAP! CRACK! And POP! And the others wince at each noise , no doubt that must've really hurt.
" That sounds really painful" Amity said.
" No kidding " King said, rubbing his back.
" Nope!" Luz said, forcing a smile and started to sweat bullets " Totally fine".
" Luz , you're starting to turn pale " King said , worried about his big sister figure.
Eda looks at her student in concern ,who is trying not to show pain and walks over to her " Luz, you don't look -Luz!" Eda cries out when Luz suddenly collapsed in her arms which makes the others rush over.
Eda moves Luz to the couch and everyone surrounds her in worry. They couldn't understand why this was happening for Luz was completely fine last night.
" Luz?" King said , gently bapted her face " Wake up!".
" King , stop it " Eda said ,grabbing his paw.
" Could this be a reaction to something?" Lilith asked " Amity ,did anything happen since last night after we all turned in for the night?".
" Luz and I were talking about the glyphs and -" Amity started before her eyes widen realization " That's it".
" What's it ?" Eda said.
"Luz-"
" I'M UP !" Luz shouts, suddenly sitting up startling everyone.
" LUZ !" The human girl was hugged by a relived King and amity.
" I'm back!" Hooty bursts inside , hearing the commotion from inside the house" And I found a doctor " and proceeded to cough up a familiar face.
" Tinella Nosa?" Amity said.
" Aw rats" Tiny nose said, snapping her fingers.
"Hootsifer, she's not a doctor " Lilith said.
" Oh ... my mistake " Hooty said before swallowing tiny nose again who screamed, then left to put her back where he found her.
" Should we concerned about that?" Luz asks.
" Nah , I'm sure she's fine. " Eda said , checking out Luz " I'm more worried about you, Luz''.
" How are you feeling?" Lilith asked.
" Actually " Luz said getting off the couch after being let go from the hug and took a few steps " I feel great!" And turns to the others with her usual smile " The pain is completely go-AGH!" Luz was cut off when she felt a loud CRACK! and she doubles over in pain, forcing her to drop to her knees and wrapped her arms around herself to soothe the pain.
" Luz!" The others cried out in worry mainly Eda and Amity.
Luz is panting hard ,she had never felt pain like this before except the time she broke her wrist when she was younger from falling out of a tree but this pain was so much worse for it felt like her back is being pulled apart from the inside out and at the same time, she can feel her bone breaking and rearranging themselves. Suddenly a bump appeared on her back that can be seen under her nightshirt making the others extremely worried as they are forced to back up.
"RRAAAAHHHHH! " Luz screamed at the top of her lungs as something burst out of her back tearing through the nightshirt and Luz collapsed to the floor hard as the sudden pain subsides very quickly and the only thing that is heard is Luz's labored breathing.
" Okay... that was greatly unpleasant. But it's over" Luz groans and looks up the to see that everyone is looking at her with wide eyed including Hooty , who had came back from dropping off Tiny nose " What ?".
"Ah... Luz" King points to Luz's side.
Luz raised an eyebrow but looks to her side only to see multicolored glass "Wha?" And she turns to get a better look but the glass moves with her "What the?" Luz looks around for a mirror and what she sees makes her gasp in shock and amazement for on her back is a pair of large wings that are made of stained glass !
" AAAAAAAHHHHHH! " Luz screamed at the sight of the wings.
" Mother of the Titan" Eda whisper as Luz scrambled to her feet.
" Ay Dios mio! Ayudame a quitarlos! " Luz said in panicked Spanish, spinning around causing her new wings to knock over several items.
" Luz , calm down " Amity said ,able to grab Luz by the shoulders.
" Ok " Luz stops her crazed spin and took a few deep breaths " I'm calm " before glancing at her new wings " Kind of''.
" Why didn't you tell us that you humans have wings?" King asked.
" Because we don't " Luz said to King as Lilith walks over to Luz to get a better look at the new appendages .
" Extraordinary "Lilith said, examining the wings with Hooty.
" You where saying beforehand , Boots" Eda said.
" When we were looking at the painted sky last night, Luz had found a glyph in the stained glass pattern " Amity said, catching Lilith's attention.
" What?" Lilith gasped " There been a glyph here the entire time?".
" I didn't see it at first until Luz drew it and it had a feather inside the glyph and once Luz touch it , a massive light blinded us and we thought it didn't work once the light faded " Amity answered Lilith.
" Well , it did work " King remarked.
" That's odd. Spell circles and glyphs work as soon you activate them". Eda said.
" Perhaps it need time to build up charge?" Lilith said.
" Maybe but how am I going to hide these wings?" Luz said, carefully spreading their her wings to full length which is at 10 feet long and the strangest thing is the colors of the wings are a match of the blue ,purple and magenta nebula sky last night.
" Hide them?. Why would you want to do that?" Eda asked.
"Huh?" Luz looks a them confused.
" Luz, these wings are amazing. I've never seen anything like them." Lilith said.
It was then Luz realized that an island of witches and dangerous creatures wouldn't be that shocked by a pair of wings. But then again, this is Luz were talking about, the human who can do spells.
" Luz, these wings only made you even more incredible and you should embrace them" Amity said, taking Luz's hands into hers.
" Your right" Luz said, pulling Amity into a hug ,who returns it and Luz's wings wrapped around both of them and Luz glanced at her wings and Luz pulls away from the hug " And what do you say we go outside and see what these babies can do!" And Luz make a run for the door but her wings get caught on the doorframe, causing her to fall on her back " I'm ok!"
" Easy there, tiger!" Eda chuckles, pulling Luz off the floor by the back of her shirt " I know your excited but we need to wrap up breakfast first".
Once breakfast was done ,everyone got dressed and Luz had some trouble getting her shirt off due to the wings , so Lilith cut two holes for the wings to slip out without tearing them much to Luz's appreciation and right now, Luz was currently standing on the roof and everyone was watching her on the ground.
" You got this, Luz!" King cheers.
"Stay focused !" Eda called out.
"Control your breathing!" Lilith said.
" Keep an eye on your turning" Amity said.
" Don't swallow any bugs!" Hooty Hooted.
Despite the encouraging words from her friends, Luz swallows nervously when she looked down as a flashback comes back to her when she tried to fly at a younger age.
Flashback:
Camila was in the kitchen and finished making food " Luz, lunch's ready" Camila called out but no response. Camilla opened the front door and stepped out to see if Luz went outside to play " Corazon dulce?" .
" Hi mom !"
Camilla turned around and looked up to see a five year old Luz on the roof with cardboard cut out wings " I'm gonna fly!"
" NOOOOO!" Camila cried out.
Flashback over.
" I was way off " Luz mutters of herself as she takes a few steps back.
Luz takes a few deep breaths so she can get a running start and then she makes a run it and jumps off the roof with her wings open wide however, she frantically flaps her wings " Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" And Luz dives down making the others duck and Amity sees that Luz is head right for a tree!.
" Luz! , watch out for that -" Amity tries to call out to Luz , unfortunately it can too late and Luz hits the tree, face first making the others wince " tree" Amity finished as Luz slides down the tree.
" Ow" Luz said softly.
Amity rushes over to girlfriend before she hears a familiar voice " Amity!" And she stops to see Willow and Gus approaching " We came to the Owl house for a visit and we heard shouting. What's going on?" Willow asked.
"And we heard something hit a tree" Gus added.
" I'm up!" Luz shouts , popping up scaring her friends before their attention was drawn to the new appendages on Luz's back.
" Luz ... you have wings?!" Willow gasped.
" I knew it!" Gus said ,twirling his finger and a board with pictures connected by strings " Humans do grow wings as teenagers, and then they fall off when their adults so they can drive in those big metal things!".
Luz just stared at Gus.
" No Gus. Humans don't have wings. A glyph did this." Amity corrected Gus.
Gus just made a face in annoyance and twirled his finger, making the board crumple itself up and disappear before Willow and Gus makes their way over to Luz to get a better look at the wings.
" Luz, they're beautiful" Willow said.
" Thanks. I grew them myself " Luz smiles before pausing for a moment " Kinda".
" So can you fly now?" Gus asked.
" I'm... working on it" Luz said.
" More like falling in style" Eda said, helping Luz to her feet, who is shaking herself to get the leaves and twigs out of her hair and Lilith greets the new arrivals.
" Let me help " Willow twirled her finger and the leaves and twigs float off of Luz.
" Thanks Willow " Luz smiles.
"Hmm" Lilith thought for a second " Tell me Willow, how strong are your vines?''.
" Strongest in the plant track " Willow said proudly.
" Then Luz, I believe that I have a way to help you" Lilith smiled.
Minutes later, Hooty was seem having a bunch of vines wrapped around him as he swung himself around in a circle and on the other end of the vines was Luz, who was flying around in the same circle , flapping her wings.
" So , what is this exactly?" Amity asks Lilith, watching Luz.
" Simply put that Luz need to slowly adjust to using her wings while moving through the air. with Hootsifer swinging the vines in a circular motion, Luz will have a steady flight while getting used to her new wings" Lilith said.
" More like crazy to get dizzy " Gus said, staring it get dizzy just watching.
" No kidding" Willow said.
" You're so smart ,Lulu" Hooty said.
" Oh please" Eda said, standing their with her arms crossed.
" Don't be so jealous sister. Your strength was always causing problems, mine was finding solutions " Lilith smirked.
Eda narrows her eyes at Lilith in annoyance before glancing at Luz and smirks , taking a few steps back pulling the kids with her.
"What are you doing?" Lilith said , raising an eyebrow.
" Tell me Lily. What part of the solution is Luz turning green?" Eda smirks.
" What?" Lilith asked.
" Ah Lulu?" Hooty said.
Lilith hears Hootsifer and looks up to see that Luz's face had turned green.
" I don't feel so good" Luz moans before her cheeks puffed up.
"Uh Oh" Lilith and Hooty said in union.
"BLEH!"
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! "Lilith and Hooty screamed as their screams echoed through the Boiling Isles and many of the residents wonder what was that about.
Cut to the inside of the Owl House, where Lilith is sitting on the couch in a bathrobe with a towel around her head and Hooty was also next to her and also had a towel around him and is currently resting in Lilith's lap , who is petting him.
" Sorry about that ,Lilith" Luz said , embarrassed.
" Top notch plan, lily" Eda laughed.
" In hindsight, perhaps repeated circular motions after a large breakfast was a poor plan. " Lilith sighed.
Luz and her friends were on another coach , Amity is comforting her girlfriend while Gus and Willow we're checking over Luz's wings in amazement. I mean why wouldn't they?. They've seen a lot of crazy and dangerous creatures on the isles but this?. This is a whole new of weirdness and beauty at the same time.
"So, your saying that a glyph caused you to grow wings?" Willow said.
" And its not pretty" Amity said.
" No kidding " King added.
" Yeah , and these wings are going nowhere " Luz nods.
" Luz, you have got to show us the glyph that give you these wings!" Gus said eagerly.
Luz and Amity looks at Gus like he's grown a second head.
" I don't if that's a good idea " Luz said.
" Yeah Luz! Show us the wing glyph!" King joins in.
" I don't know if that's a good idea " Luz said , rubbing the back of her neck before she remembers something " Oh no! , I've got school tomorrow!".
" Luz, calm down" Willow said. " It's not a big deal".
" Not a big deal?!" Luz said freaking out and gets off the coach and stands in front of them " This a big deal for me. How am I going to explain these wings to my Mom?".
About two years ago, Luz and her friends had found a way for Luz to return to the human realm and Luz reunited with her mom, who gave her a serious scolding in Spanish for making her so worried but Camila welcomed Luz's friends with open arms and Camila got along amazing with the Bat Queen for they have a loving passion for caring abused creatures and they formed a unique bond with each other.
" Luz , we will find a way help you hide your wings like we always have getting out of situations like before" Amity said.
" Yeah, come on Luz. Hexside has seen a lot of weirder stuff than a human with wings" Gus said.
" It's true. In fact that actually happened back in my first year in Hexside" Eda said.
" They used a spell to grow wings too ?" Luz gasped.
" Oh no. He carried them in''. Eda shook her head " They were his lunch".
Luz was wide eyed at that.
" Mmm, they smelled really tasty" Eda signed remembering it.
" Ok choosing to forget that last part " Luz noted before she got her usual smile again " But you guys are right. This is the Boiling Isles. Heck I stand out for being human who can do magic. If anything these babies will make me fit in so well that I'll be invisible" And Luz opens her wings and lightly flaps them to get her across.
"There you go!" Eda crows.
" And tomorrow is another day for new challenges" Amity said.
And with that , Gus and Willow fly back home to get ready for school tomorrow and Owl House residents cook up dinner and relax for the night unaware of the crazy things will happen in the Boiling Isles.
