The Hexside school bell screamed as the weekend ended and the students gathered around to begin their day learning spells, practicing their potions and taking care of magical creatures. But the everyone was talking about the strange nebula sky that was seen over the weekend for it was the strangest thing they've ever seen ,completely unaware that they're in for a one heck of a surprise.
It wasn't long before the students see Eda flying towards the school while being flanked by Amity, Willow and Gus and they land on the ground, hopping of their staffs and the students see Luz hopping of Eda's staff and she's talking to Eda but the back of Eda's hair is blocking their sight line and Eda soon leaves and what the students sees makes them gasp in amazement and shock as their eyes widen in bewilderment.
"Holy titan" Bo said.
A nervous Luz walks to the steps of the school with her friends at her side as she tries to ignore the looks and whispers of the other students as they take pictures of Luz, mainly her stained glass wings sticking out of her back.
" Okay...maybe invisible wasn't the right word " Amity said, walking through the main doors.
" At least, I'm trying " Luz said, hugging herself with her wings to make herself look smaller but it's hard to ignore the excited whispers.
" Just stay positive and we will see you later" Willow said, heading to her locker.
"Good Luck! " Gus crows , running down the hall.
" Oh Dio mio ,Amity. I'm so nervous right now " Luz said , her wings slightly shaking.
" It's only a couple of hours of teaching and I'll see you at lunch " Amity said , giving Luz a kiss of reassurance on the cheek.
"Your right, sweet potato " Luz said, quickly regained some of her confidence and kissed Amity back and speed walks down the hall as Amity goes to her own locker.
Luz does her best ignoring the excited chatter that her new wings made and managed to get to her locker and gets the books she needs for the day and begins her way to her first class , weaving through students and teachers blocking out the whispers and it wasn't long before Luz run into Principal Bump.
" Oh sorry Principal Bump. I didn't mean to bump into you" Luz said before she realized what she said and laughed nervously at herself.
" It's quite alright Luz. I was just going to see what's the excitement with... the...students " Principal Bump said , slowly trailing off when he sees the stain glass wings poking out behind Luz's back " Luz, you have wings?!".
" As of yesterday. I do" Luz said, adjusting her grip on her books.
" Very impressive. The surprises you have done never ceases to amaze me" Principal Bump said.
" Thank you. I grew them myself with the help of a new glyph. And I better get to class " Luz said, speed walking to her first class.
Luz makes it to her first class, which is illusions and getting to her desk is a bit of a challenge but she managed to get her desk with the other students help.
"Good morning students " The Illusion teacher said, coming into the class " I have prepared a lesson for today. However let's forget about the lesson for today and let's talk about Luz's new wings".
The whole class turned and looked at the winged human, who tried to shrink down into her seat, but that only made her wings stick out even more. Luz wasn't used to the attention that her wings created. Thankfully, Gus was in her class to help with her the attention.
" Uh teacher. I don't thinks it's a good idea to ask questions about Luz's wings. She's still adjusting to them." Gus said, putting a hand on Luz's shoulder to comfort her.
" Gus, it's alright. I mean I don't mind a few questions about my wings " Luz said.
The students and teacher start asking questions about Luz's new wings but at the same time keep respecting Luz's boundaries and, soon Luz let's her classmates touch her wings and the students moves the desks back to let Luz open her wings.
" Wow Luz. I love your wings " Cat said in awe.
"Heh , thanks " Luz smiles.
" I've seen a lot of wings, but never like these." Viney said as she tapped one of the wings "Where did they come from?"
" Well... I kinda grew them" Luz said.
" So it's true" Mattholomule gasped " Human do grow wings that fall-" Mattholomule stops when Gus puts a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. Mattholomule frowns as he sits back down.
"I'm very curious on how you grow these wings " The teacher said, walking up to Luz.
" A new glyph is what caused Luz to grow wings" Gus answers for Luz and that got everyone curious.
" Yeah, and I didn't know what the glyph was going to do. At first, it seemed like nothing happened. Then the next morning, they came bursting out of my back" Luz chuckles awkwardly " It really hurt".
Everyone wince at the part where the wings bursting out part. I mean would you to cringe in pain feeling a pair of wings bursting out of your back?. I know I would.
" However, I think they suit me perfectly " Luz said , ruffling her wings.
" They really do. I must say I am very impressed, first you discover a way to use magic despite not having a magic bile sac and that reminds me." The teacher said , reaching into her pocket and handing Luz a scroll " Here's the diagram you asked for".
"Gross but thank you " Luz said, opening the scroll revealing a witch's bile sack on the witches heart and puts it into her pocket.
" Now you've done this " The teacher gestures Luz's wings " This isn't like beast keeping magic or any other magic I've seen in my years as a teacher. This something completely new to all of us. You may be a human, I believe that your were born to explore magic".
There's a few cheers from the students and friendly complaints from the students, however there's one student that was not happy about Luz getting all the attention.
"She gets a pair of wings and suddenly she's all cool ?" Boscha , mutters to herself crossing her arms and narrowed her three eyes, chewing her gum. Boscha grins as an idea comes to mind and takes out her gum from her mouth and carefully reaches forward to stick it into Luz's hair. But before she could, one of Luz's wings snapped back knocking back Boscha's hand and knocking her of her seat.
" Oh my gosh, Boscha. Are you okay " Luz said, turning around to help Boscha up but she slapped her hands away.
" I'm fine" Boscha growled, getting to her feet but noticed the other students were staring at her "What?".
"Ah Boscha, you've got a " Skara said, tapping her head.
Confused, Boscha reached up and her eyes widened when she felt her gum was now stuck her in own hair "Ugh''.
Boscha stiffness when someone cleared their throat from behind her, she turns around to see that teacher who has her arms crossed with a stern face indicating that she wasn't happy with Boscha's stunt then the school bell screamed ,ending first class to start the next one.
" You'll be staying after school today for detention for that stunt of yours, Boscha " The teacher said, as the other students gather their books and moves the desks back where they were beforehand.
" Me?!. She knocked me down with her stupid wings " Boscha said, pointing to Luz who was talking to her classmates.
" That's because you tried to stick gum in her hair" Gus said , walking past them.
" And I agree with Gus, and I don't know why you're acting this way to Luz and I don't like it , if you keep this up with Luz , you are gonna be in seriously trouble and you'll being getting extra homework " The teacher said, as Luz, Gus and the students leaves the room, students asking more questions about the wings while a irritated Boscha walks out of the classroom uses her magic it get the gum out of her hair and tossed to gum to trash down the hall at the same time Professor Hermonculuc passes by being carried by his Abomination.
" Another day, another pile of assignme-'' he was cut off when something hits him" AH! What was that ?" Professor Hermonculuc looks around but doesn't see nothing " It's must've been nothing " Professor Hermonculuc carries on not realizing the gum is now visibly stuck to his goatee.
Meanwhile,Luz is currently being questioned by at least half dozen but this time she had gotten used to the questions and answered them as best as she could and managed to get to the Plant class.
" Sorry guys but I need to get to class. Those seeds won't grow themselves " Luz said, thinking for a moment " or do they?" And quickly enters the class.
" Looks like your new wings have gotten a lot of attention today, Luz" Willow said, Luz sitting down next to her.
" You've got no idea " Luz chuckles.
" Sorry, I'm late everyone and, please turn to page 236 because we're learning about the chameleon lilies today" The plant teacher said, coming in the class with her hands full of different plants and picks up a chameleon lilies and places it in-front of the students. The flower looks like a larger version of a water lilies but it has tendrils that resembles a chameleon tail and mini horns between their petals to protect itself from being picked.
The students opens their book to the pages for class and Luz stares at the flower in fascination since it reminds Luz of her dad since he loved flowers and Willow looks at Luz and smiles , knowing that Luz likes the water lilies.
" Watch this, Luz " Willow said , holding a blue book behind the lilies and the petals changed their colors to match it.
" Whoa, camouflage flowers" Luz said.
" Yes Luz, The chameleon lilies where found back hundred years ago and they were found near lakes and rivers." Willow said.
" Well technically, they were discovered a little before that. But the lilies kept camouflaging themselves when people turned around to show others , they were not there and so witches just thought they imagined them." The teacher said.
Luz stares at the lilies in awe and moves a little bit closer to the lilies and didn't notice that the sunlight was shining though her wings and hits the lilies and they absorb the colors, changing their colors from blue to multiple shades of colors that matches Luz's wings and looks like they've been painted with watercolors and everyone was watching the change in astonishment.
"Luz, how did you do that ?" Willow gasped.
" I don't know " Luz said, looking at her wings" I think it was my wings".
" Fascinating " the teacher said, picking up the lilies which held the colors " Luz, I'm impressed and I believe that you get extra credit ".
" Oh ,Eda's gonna be so proud. Especially since I didn't really do anything for it" Luz squealed.
" And you work very hard to become a witch and I'm very proud on how far you've come " The teacher smiled at her winged student.
As the teacher moved on Luz grinned widely at Willow, who grins back. The Lesson went on as the students continues studying the lilies until a scream signals the end of class.
" Alright class, that's all for to day and remember. Most of the Boiling's plant life will poison you if you eat it, or just try and eat you itself" The teacher said , as the students leave the classroom for lunch.
As everyone left the classroom Luz suddenly stopped in her tracks when she realized that she forgot something " On no, my book" and quickly ran back into the room and grabbed her book off her desk, but as she spun around, her wings snagged some of the lilies on the tables at her sides and as she ran to the door unaware that the lilies we're changing.
Outside of the door, Willow was talking to Amity who was waiting to walk with Luz this next class, however when Luz walked out the witches gasped in shock.
"Luz, your wings!" Amity said, pointing behind Luz.
" Huh?" Luz looks the her side and gasps to see that her wings we're gone " What the- where did they go?!".
" Did they fall off?" Willow asked.
" I don't think so. I mean, I would've felt them fall off or them breaking " Luz answers, looking over shoulders to see what happened to her wings.
" Well well well" the witches and human turns to the voice to see a smug Boscha approach them "What's the matter human?. Your fancy wings ditch you? Ha ha ha -Ah! " When Boscha tried to walk past Luz , her face collided with something invisible" OW!" She clutched her nose and quickly left with tears in her eyes as the witches and Human stares at Boscha's fleeing form.
" What just happened?" Amity blinked.
Willow wonders herself and noticed something beside Luz " Hold on " And grabs it and pulled it off ,revealing a part of the stained glass of Luz's wings. "Luz, your wings aren't gone they've hidden by the chameleon lilies" Willow said, twirling her finger and there's a green glow and before long all the lilies floated in the air, revealing Luz's wings.
" Looks like some of the lilies got caught in the feathers " Amity said, look at the jagged edge's of the glass feathers.
" Huh, I feel like there's a pun to be made here but i can't think of one" Luz said.
"Probably, you guys head to lunch, I'll be right back. I'm going to give these lilies back to the teacher" Willow said and walks back to the plant room along while Amity and Luz head to the cafeteria.
" So, you're telling me that humans school lunch's are served by someone called sloppy joe?" Amity asked.
" Oh, sloppy Joe isn't a person. It's a kind of food " Luz said.
" The food serves other food of people " Amity blinks "That's dark".
" Close enough " Luz said shrugging her shoulders as she, Amity and Gus walk into the Cafeteria to grab their lunches and they sit down at their usual spot.
" I can't believe I'm only finding out now that the Demon Realm had waffles " Luz said sitting down next to Amity and Luz's tray had a large stack of over a dozen blueberry waffles on it.
"Waffles?" Gus said, raising a eyebrow.
The stack of 'waffles' moved on it's own, below the top three waffles lifted a mouth like and it released a low guttural roar at Luz , who gasp in surprise but before it was suddenly stabbed by a thin stake made of abomination goo courtesy of Amity.
"There you go " Amity said , pulling the stake out and it's seemed to bleed syrup , it let out gurgle before falling silent.
Luz stares at the 'waffles' for a moment " It's weird that still wanna eat it?" Luz asks.
" I mean it's already been stabbed, it'll be a waste otherwise" Gus said, taking a bite of his crab apple.
Luz gave the food one last look before shrugging and digging in " Mmm , so good~" .
For the next half hour, the cafeteria was in a peace mood as light chatter filled in the room about Luz's wings and some students will glance at Luz's wings as the sun bounced of the multiple colored glasses displaying the colors all over the place.
" Do you think everyone's talking about my wings?" Luz asked.
"They're absolutely talking about your wings" Gus said.
" Your the talk of the school ,Luz" Willow smiled.
" Luz, your wing's only make you more incredible " Amity smiled, scooting closer.
"Just like you my sweet potato " Luz said , as one her wings pulls Amity closer making her blush like mad.
" Did you make them do that?" Amity asks.
" No. They kinda read my mind " Luz answers.
" Really?. Can they read mine?" Gus grins but Willow nudged him and shook her head.
Amity places her hand under her chin thinking " Hmm , I think you're wings are emotion based" Amity said.
"And what makes you think that?" Luz asks as her wing removes itself off of Amity's shoulder and back to it's resting spot.
" Let's test it " Amity smirked ,pointed to the side " Look at that ".
" What?" Luz looks But sees nothing and Amity kisses her on the cheek making Luz blush as her wings shake a little.
Amity, Willow and Gus watches the wings shiver as Luz blushes " Looks like your wings are emotion based after all " Willow said with a smile until the bell shrieks and they dispose their lunches and leaves the cafeteria for their next class ,which is Beast keeping magic for Luz unaware that she's being watched by someone , who has a hateful look on it's face down the hallway.
" Today class, you'll be learning on how to properly feed a infant Argul " The manticore teacher said gesturing the small creatures that looked like a between an alligator and puppy. It even had the adorable big puppy dog eyes.
"Aww , so cute~" Luz coos with wide eyes as she reached her hand out but Vinny grabs her hand.
" I wouldn't" Vinny warned Luz.
A small bug crawled onto the desk, the Argul noticed it and opened it's mouth impossibly wide revealing very sharp teeth and immediately chomped down , devouring the bug and taking part of the desk with it.
" The Boiling Isles really needs some ' Do not pet the animals ' signs" Luz said, very spooked.
The teacher noticed that Luz's wing's where standing straight up as if they been spooked " Interesting. Take note class. A winged creatures or in this case winged humans emotional state can be identified by the state of their wings" The teacher said.
The class proceeded to take turns feeding feeding baby Argul's red bug. Contrary to the piece of the table it had bitten off, the infant creatures calmly nibbled at the bugs.
When it was Luz's turn, her Argul didn't eat " Am I doing something wrong?" Luz asked.
" Oh no Luz, sometimes infants can be weary of strangers,even when they're offering food" The teacher said.
The trick is to make feel comfortable by mimicking a maternal figure" Vinny said, holding her Argul close to her.
" Oh, how?" Luz said, Intrigued.
" Like this " Vinny popped a red bug in her mouth and chewed it. She brought up her Argul to her mouth and opened her mouth showing the bug mushed up remains which her Argul started picking out of her mouth like a baby bird.
Luz stared at Vinny before look at the bug in her hand " That's gross. But when will I get another vail reason to chew up a bug?" Luz asked .
Suddenly , the table that was missing a piece creaked. The Argul had bitten off was piece of the table with a leg and it's weakened state couldn't handle the weight causing it to break and the baby Argul fell. Everyone gasped, but the Argul then stopped falling, and everyone turned to see Luz, who had shot out her wing to catch the Argul, who was resting on the wing.
" That was too close " Luz sighed as she maneuvered her wing , so that the Argul was now up to her face " I got you".
The class proceeded to clap and her for Luz. Th Argul nuzzled itself against Luz's cheek as a thank you." Oh, what the heck " luz smiled and she popped the red bug in her mouth and chewed "Huh , it's like crunchy bubblegum " and she opened her mouth and the Argul and started to eat. The Argul yawned after finished eating and snuggles up to Luz , falling asleep and Luz nuzzles her cheek against it's head.
Soon, the class ends and Luz was reluctant to let her Argul go but it was the best and carefully hand her sleeping Argul back to the teacher and walks to her next class and she had a aftertaste in her mouth from the bug " Hmm, not to bad " Luz said to herself after putting her books into her locker.
" Hey human" Luz hears a familiar voice behind her and turns around to see Boscha standing there with arms crossed with nose bandage on curtesy from walking smack into Luz's wing from earlier.
Luz looks at Boscha raised a eyebrow " What do you want Boscha? I need to get to class " Luz said.
" Poitions right? No need, teacher's out sick after swallowing a death hex" Boscha said.
"Swallowed death hex?" Luz said.
" Yeah, such a drama queen" Boscha said.
Luz watches Boscha before crossing her arms " Alright, what do really want from from me?" Luz asked, curiously and suspiciously.
" I'll get right to the point. I'm tired of you walking around with your tacky wings like you rule the school" Boscha said, in irrigation.
Luz looks at Boscha flabbergasted " Do you think i wanted this to happen? It was a freak accident with a new glyph, and these wings aren't coming off" Luz said , unaware that the two where staring to get the attention of the students and teachers.
" Please, everything about you is a accident" Boscha scoffs.
" You know what Boscha? I'm getting pretty sick and tired of your mean girl act. It's overused " Luz said in anger, her wings shaking.
" What are you saying human?" Boscha said, eyes narrowed.
Luz raised raised her head high " My name is Luz Noceda , and this human is challenging you to a witches dual to end this charade once and for all!" Luz said loud and proud for everyone to hear.
Everyone gasps at Luz's determination to stop Boscha's bullying and close by was Principal Bump along with Amity, Willow and Gus , who turned the corner just in time to hear Luz challenge Boscha to a duel. Either this is really good or really bad.
" Oh no'' Amity said.
"You took the words right out of my mouth, Amity" Willow said, nervously.
" Seriously? You think you can take me? The queen of Grudgby?! "Boscha laughed unaware that Luz temper is raising and is clenches her fists." I knew you weren't too bright, but even I didn't think you could be this stup-".
"ENOUGH!" Luz shouts at Boscha cutting her off, extending her wing's to full length like a bird would do to look intimidating.
Boscha jumps back in fear and so did some of the students and teachers , who were not expecting for Luz to shout, Luz walks up to Boscha and stops less then two feet from her " Meet me in the courtyard in a hour if you got the nerve" Luz growled as she stares down Boscha's eyes. Either by fear or anger, Boscha drew a circle and they shook each other's hands in the circle as it faded then Luz turns on her heels and walks away from Boscha, who hasn't moved from her spot and Luz storms past her friends and Principal Bump, who immediately chases after Luz.
" Luz! Luz stop!" Amity shouts as she managed to get in front of Luz, stopping from going any further "Are you crazy? Challenging Boscha to a dual?".
" Amity's right. Boscha is really tough in Grudby , even worse in a witches dual" Willow said, placing her hand on Luz's shoulder.
" Boscha will demolish you! " Gus exclaims.
" No guys. I tried to turning the other cheek and she got worse. The plan B of dealing with bullies, stand up to them " Luz said.
Before anyone can say anything Principal Bump beats them to it " I believe that Luz is right " The four teens look at him in surprise as he continues "Over the past few months Bosha's bullying has gotten worse despite my warnings".
"But you've never cared about Bosha's bullying" Willow points out.
"On the contrary. I now I've given Bosha leeway due to her grubgy playing. Clearly, I gave her too much. She needs to learn a lesson " Principal Bump said .
"Um shouldn't that be your job? Since you're an educator?" Gus asked.
" In this case no. Detention will simply make her act out more. The fact is that sometimes the only way to teach someone a lesson is to knock them down a peg. " Principal Bump said.
The four teenagers looks at Principal Bump then each other in surprise and back to Bump " Are you giving me permission to kick Boscha's butt?" Luz asked in disbelief.
" Oh no. As a Principal of this school I couldn't permit a student to harm another" Principal Bump paused for a moment " However, I can respect the honor involved in a witches duel, only stepping in when something goes wrong".
"Ok" Luz nods her head and turns to her friends " I'll see you guys at the court yard, and better call Eda and Lilith just incase things get hairy".
Just as Luz turns Amity grabs her hand " Your gonna need my help and i know a few tips that can help you with your dual" Amity said. Luz smile at her girlfriend and the to speed walks down the hall to prepare for the duel.
The word of the witches dual had spread across Hexside, the entire school had gathered in the courtyard , including the teachers. Far enough away from the building, Luz and Boscha stood across from each other glaring,determined to win.
" You gonna chicken out ,human?" Boscha mocks.
" Not a chance" Luz growls.
"Witches ready?" Principal Bump shouts ,earning nods from both of them with eyes narrowed at each other " Begin!".
Boscha quickly made the firs move, conjuring a fireball that she proceeded to throw at Luz, who used a ice glyph to create an ice pill in front of her to block the attack. When the ice was gone ,Luz was nowhere to be found.
"Huh? Seriously? She still ended up running away ?" Boscha scoffed,until something hits her in the back.
Luz then appears behind Boscha, taking a deep breath " Wanted to show you my new glyph".
Before Boscha could react, a static charge ran through her and her her popped out of her ponytail and stood on end. This caused everyone to laugh and Boscha took out a mirror and gasped at her reflection " What did you do?!".
"Relax Boscha. It's a brand new style " Luz grins.
Boscha grits her teeth before twirling her finger. Large rocks glowed green and levitated off the ground, before the flew at Luz " Uh oh!" And Luz quickly used a plant glyph to create vines that wrapped around a tree branch to pull her out of the way of the rocks path" Phew" she sighed in relief only for a fireball to hit the vines causing them to snap. Luz fell to the ground and looked up to see Boscha, her hair now fixed is standing before Luz.
" My turn!" Boscha shouts as her fingernails became talons and she swiped at Luz, who rolled out of the way. Boscha continues to swipe at Luz who backed away before swinging her right wing, smacking Boscha causing her to stumble. Boscha recovered quickly and used a much larger fireball at Luz ,who barley managed to use an ice glyph to cancel it" How long can you keep that up?" Boscha shouts as she continues to attack with large fireballs.
" I don't have too" Luz said and immediately dived forward, grabbing Boscha's leg.
"Hey! Get off of me!" Boscha shouts and before she could react, Luz did let go, then spun around using her right wing to sweep Boscha's feet out from underneath her, making the witch fall onto her back.
"Stay down" Luz said,getting up.
Now Boscha is serious mad" You are so gonna get -" Boscha snarled when she paused as she tried to get up, but it felt like her hands were stuck to the ground "What the?What did you due to me ?"
" Exactly what I said" Luz smirked "Showing you my new glyphs " She points to Boscha's leg which had the Beast keeping glyph glowing on it.
Back to the crowd
"When did she make that glyph?" Willow asked.
"She showed it to me yesterday. It let her walk on the wall, but she got stuck on the ceiling" Amity answers.
Back to the duel
Boscha kept pulling to get her hands free but just ended up pulling two large chunks of dirt out of the ground.
"Nice accessories.But they might make it hard to make a spell circle " And took out a fire glyph and activated it " Hot foot!" And she slammed it on the ground and a wave of flames moved toward Boscha, who awkwardly jumped back to avoid it.
" I think you forgot something human " Boscha said.
" Yeah, like what?" Luz asked.
Boscha tapped her side, causing a small bottle of purple liquid to come loose " I'm in the POTION TRACK!" With that she kicked the bottle towards Luz. It hit the ground in front of her and broke , releasing a large cloud of purple smoke causing Luz to cough.
Audience
" I don't get it, why doesn't she just fly over the smoke?" Mattholomule said.
"She's...still working on that" Gus answered.
Duel
Boscha had used the distraction to hit the pieces of ground stuck to her hands off a tree. After a few hit's the ground pieces finally broke apart as the beast keeping glyph disappeared. She took an other bottle with blue liquid and throw it at Luz, who had just made her way out of the purple smoke. The bottle hit Luz causing a loud explosion, thankfully Luz had used her wings to shield herself,but was still knocked back.
"Is that all those wings are for?" All flashy but they can't even fly? Pathetic!" Boscha shouts as she threw another bottle, but Luz swatted it away with her wing. It exploded creating a burst of icicles that the girls are forced to avoid. Boscha tossed another bottle at Luz catching her completely off guard as she desperately tries to see what is happening unaware that the Boscha quickly used both hands to creat the biggest fireball she could and hurled it at Luz, who is finally recovered but frozen in fear at the sight of the massive fireball and she couldn't even hear friends calling out to her. As the heat of fire came closer, Luz was paralyzed with fear but before the fireball could hit Luz, a ghostly but familiar voice echoed in her ear " LUZ,FLY!" Luz snaps out of her fear trance and jumps into the air as the fireball hits, causing an explosion of embers and flames making the audience gasp in fear.
" LUZ! " Amity screamed.
When the flames disappear, the human was nowhere to be seen much to everyone's worry.
"HA! The stupid human did have a chance against me! " Boscha crows in triumph or so she though as a shimmering figure flies out of the smoke and toward Boscha " On or off the Grudgy field, no one messes with-GAH!" Boscha suddenly screamed when she's picked up off the ground " What the?!" And turns her head to see Luz!
"Surprise!" Luz shouts.
The school looked on in amazement as the human flew around in the air, carrying around her opponent as she did so. Amity and her friends watched in disbelief. Just the other day Luz was practice flying erratically over the weekend when her wings first sprouted and now, Luz is flying no problem with a squirming bully's and everyone shouts in encouragement for Luz.
"She's doing it!"
"Go Luz Go!"
"Higher!"
Boscha is thrashing in Luz grip trying to get free" Let me go,now!".
"If you insist and be careful what you wish for!" Luz shouts, making Boscha confused until she looks down and her eyes widen in fear when she realized that she's a hundred feet of the ground! " NO! NO! NO! NO! WAIT!"
" Thank you for flying Air Noceda" and with that said, Luz let go of Boscha, who screamed bloody murder before landing in a tree. Luz took a moment and to wave to the crowd as she flew by, particularly to Amity, Willow and Gus.
Boscha fell out of the top of the tree and landed on one of the larger branches with leaves and twigs stuck to her and now Boscha is fuming mad" I've had enough of this!" Boscha screamed and summonses her palisman and charges at Luz.
"Then allow me to end it!" Luz shouts, taking off hard and fast with Boscha chasing after her, Luz takes out several light glyphs and heads towards to the sun, tossing the glyphs into the air and spins around , her feathers catching the glyphs " Here's something brand new!" And Luz flies in front of the sun and spreads her wings until the tips of the wings touches each other and the glyphs almost immediately react to the sun light and created intense light. Boscha realized what Luz's plan is and tries to get out of her way but it's too late as the light channels through the stained glass wings, suddenly from both wings came multiple colored beams of light. The beams hit Boscha head on, who screamed as she's blasted off her staff and across the courtyard before landing into a trash dumpster and the lid closed.
Dead silence is heard throughout the courtyard as everyone stares at Luz's hovering over Boscha's defeated form in astonishment that Boscha was finally put in her place" We have a winner!" Principal Bump announces, snapping the audience of their trance and everyone cheers for Luz's victory.
Luz pants as she flaps her wings at a steady pace while the adrenaline was slowly settling down until a voice shouts out to her " Luz, you're really flying!" Luz looks down to see her friends watching her in amazement, Luz looks at her wings and she realized that she's really flying " Whoo-Hoo-Hoo!" Luz yells at the top of her lungs as she shoots high into the air doing a spinning twirl.
Luz continues to fly around the in the sky happily doing multiple spins, turns before flying high and tucking her wings for a moment and closes her eyes and goes into a free fall , feeling the wind howling in her ears as her hair dances. Luz has never felt like this before, she felt free! Luz cracks open her eyes seeing that she's getting closer to the ground and when she got close enough ,she snaps her wings wide open at the last minute with a joyful laugh. "Hey Kid!" Luz hears a very familiar ,Luz slows down and looks at the crowd and see a grinning Eda and Lilith " Eda? Eda! " Luz shouts and immediately nose dives to the crowd.
Eda grins and immediately changes in to her harpy form much to everyone's shock and surprise as she flies up to Luz. Unfortunately Luz can't slow herself in time and Eda catches her but falls to the ground. Thankful, Willow twirlers her finger and a bunch of soft flowers grows and the mentor and human crash lands in flower bed, both petals and feathers go flying into the air but the two are laughing in joy.
" Easy there Kid! Your landings my still need some work" Eda laughed as she gets up, shaking off the petals.
" I must say Luz , your flying skills have gotten better " Lilith said.
" What are you doing here?" Luz asks.
" What? Did you think that I'd miss your fist witches Duel?" Eda thinks for a moment " Well, fist no second hand cheating witches duel. Anyway I got a message from Bump and we came to see you".
" wait we?" Luz said.
"Hi Luz. Congratulations on destroying your enemy" King said, popping out of Eda's hair.
"King!" Luz squealed as she picks up King out of Eda's hair and Hugs him which he returns until Luz feels someone tap her shoulder and turns around to see Hunter and Flapjack.
" Hunter! Nice to see you. I wasn't explaining to see you hear and what are you wearing?" Luz asks, gesturing Hunters clothes.
" It's my disguise. So that no one can recognizes me. I'm surprised you could. No one on the street recognized me as the Golden Guard." Hunter said.
" Didn't you always wear a mask?" Eda said.
"Oh" Hunter said, as the rest of Luz's friends comes up to Hunter especially Willow.
" Hi Hunter, It's been a while" Willow smiles.
" H-Hi Captain!" Hunter squeaks.
Luz looks at the two" Hmm, my shipping senses tell me that something happened between these two".
" I'll tell you later. But Luz that was incredible!" Amity smiled.
" How'd u do that with your wings? The beam thing I mean not the flying thing, the parts with your wings obviously" Gus asks.
" During plant class, we were learning about the chameleon lilies and the sunlight went through my wings which had given me the idea but I wasn't expecting the bean to be that strong" Luz explains, as she and the other watch the nurses carry a knockout Boscha, who is covered in garbage to the healing ward.
" Do you think Boscha's gonna be ok?" Luz asks.
" I'm sure she's fine" Eda said, waving her hand.
"But you never know with Bullies" Lilith point out.
" I must say Eda, I like your new look" Principal Bump said, approaching the group.
" You and me both " Eda smirks,tossing her hair back.
" Congratulations Luz. That was very impressive display of power and ingenuity" Principal Bump smiles.
"Thank you, though it's mostly instinct from living on the Boiling Isles for a long time, you can learn a thing or two " Luz said, look at Eda smiling ,who returns the smile.
" Well then. Hopefully Boscha will have learned her lesson from this when she wakes up" Lilith said.
" Yeah, hopefully because If she goes after my girlfriend again, its not going to be pretty" Amity growled until Luz wraps her arm around Amity's should and pulls her close to calm her.
" Quite a way to end the school day. I'll see you all tomorrow" Principal Bump announces.
Everyone says their goodbyes and heads home. Unfortunately at the healing ward Boscha had woken up and is fuming mad after a humiliating defeat at the hands of a human! Now Boscha swear's revenge on Luz, by taking away the one thing that is cause of all this.
