A/N: This is going to be a very dark story! Themes of SA and general violence so be warned if you are uncomfortable perhaps this story may not be for you, and that's ok! The most explicit version is on Ao3, and the tamest version is on . The themes remain but the level of description varies and there are slight differences in how the story is told so take your pick. I tried to keep Canon character from being OOC, but it's a fanfic so what can ya do? Also This takes place several years before Roger's execution and even before Kuzan became a marine, seeing as we don't know much Canon material regarding this time period, i kind of fill in the blanks./

Chapter 1: Prologue

At the break of dawn, as the sun's gentle rays began to cast a golden hue upon the tranquil waters, a young Sakazuki embarks on a journey that would further hone his formidable skills. Accompanied by his comrade, Borsalino, the two iconic figures set sail towards the peaceful island of Nwayo, a quiet sanctuary which wasn't aligned with the world government.

As the waves whispered of serenity and calmness, Sakazuki and Borsalino engaged in discussion, their voices carried away by the salty sea breeze. "I still don't really understand why you felt the need to come all the way to the middle of nowhere to train." Begrudged the older of the two.

As Sakazuki and Borsalino continued their conversation, the ship approached the picturesque island of Nwayo. The island's beauty captivated their gaze, its tranquil shores beckoning them to explore its secrets. The young Sakazuki was determined to make the most of his time here, using it as an opportunity to master his newly acquired abilities through the Magu Magu No Mi.

With a resolute expression, Sakazuki finally responds to Borsalino, his voice filled with determination. "I understand that it may seem like work to you, but this training is crucial for me. The power of this fruit holds immense potential, and I cannot afford to waste it. I need to harness its abilities fully to become stronger."

Borsalino nodded, his face displaying a mix of understanding and amusement. "Well, I can't argue with that," he said with a smile. "If anyone can make the most of this fruit's power, it's you, Sakazuki. Just remember to take some time to enjoy the island's beauty too. It's not every day you find yourself in such a peaceful sanctuary."

Sakazuki couldn't help but roll his eyes at the smooth voice of his peer. Despite the tan, lanky marine being 3 years his senior, Sakazuki found that Borsalino was very lackadaisical in his demeanor, often hiding his true ability and cunning. He met the older man's comment with silence as he stared sternly at the island ahead.

He continued. "He's going to want you back in a month." He leaned against the side of the ship and leaned his head back slightly soaking in the sun's rays. He'd always loved basking but after consuming the Pika Pika No Mi, he found that it was as refreshing as a cold glass of water. "You're sure you want to spend your vacation working?" He chuckled a bit whilst shaking his head. Sakazuki finally turned to face his subordinate. Other marines scrambled amongst the ship to prepare for docking. "If I don't take time to train with this fruit, it'll be worthless." He paused and directed their gazes towards the island.

Nwayo is a stunning volcanic island nestled in the middle of the South Blue. With its captivating beauty, this island is a true paradise for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Nwayo Island boasts an abundance of diverse flora and fauna, as well as rich history and culture.

As they approach the island, the first thing that catches their eyes is the towering volcanic mountain at its center. This majestic peak, covered in lush greenery, stands as a testament to the island's volcanic origins. The dense tropical rainforests that blanket the slopes of the mountain are home to descendants of an ancient tribe of people.

The island's coasts are a sight to behold, with pristine white sandy beaches. Crystal-clear waters lap gently against the shore, inviting visitors to take a dip and explore the vibrant underwater world. Coral reefs teeming with life provide a kaleidoscope of colors, as colorful fish dart in and out of the intricate coral formations. Waterfalls cascade down the mountain slopes, creating picturesque spots for picnics and relaxation. Snorkeling and diving enthusiasts can delve into the depths of the ocean, encountering an underwater wonderland of marine life.

It's a testament to the residents' dedication to their culture that the island hadn't been transformed into a resort shilling its resources for money. The volcano at the island's center is known as Kauwa Kauwela-Yama, was dormant, but still bubbled and churned with magma. Eyeing the behemoth of rock, Sakazuki inhaled, feeling a warmth in his chest. "That is why I chose this island." he stated, crossing his buff arms under his broad chest.

Borsalino was now silent, but he grinned to himself as he lifted up from the rails to stand next to stand next to his younger peer. With each gentle sway of the ship, Sakazuki and Borsalino silently pondered about the countless hours spent under Zephyr's stern guidance. They recalled the rigorous training regimes, the grueling physical trials, and the relentless pursuit of perfection that their sensei had instilled in them. Zephyr's unwavering dedication to their growth as warriors molded them into the formidable marines they had become.

As the ship approached the island, Sakazuki's mind was filled with a mixture of determination and contemplation. The world around him was in chaos, with the infamous Gol D. Roger continuing to dominate the seas. Admirals Garp and Sengoku were tirelessly working to apprehend him, but the pirate's relentless pursuit of the legendary island, Loadstar, had only intensified.

Sakazuki couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency. He knew that time was of the essence, and he had a responsibility to grow stronger, not only for himself but for the sake of the world. This precious time off from his duties was an opportunity he couldn't afford to waste.

As the ship neared the island, Sakazuki's thoughts turned inward. He pondered the potential progress he could make during his training. He knew that mastering the powers of the Magu Magu No Mi would require intense focus and relentless effort. The challenges ahead seemed daunting, but Sakazuki was resolute in his determination to push himself to the limits and unlock his true potential.

The waves gently lapped against the ship, creating a soothing rhythm that seemed to echo his thoughts. The peaceful surroundings of the island served as a stark contrast to the chaotic world he left behind. It was a reminder of the beauty that still existed amidst the turmoil, and it further fueled his motivation to become stronger.

With a deep breath, Sakazuki stepped back into the ship to gather his belongings, ready to immerse himself in training and embrace the challenges that lay ahead. He knew that this journey would test his mettle and shape his destiny. As the sun's rays bathed the island in golden light, Sakazuki took his first steps towards his path of growth, fully aware of the significance of the task that lay before him.
