Cozy Little Christmas

This little ficlet was inspired by the awesome drabble called "Inside Your Heaven" about Lucky/Greenlee/Zach by one of my favorite writers, KaelynAnne. Check it out!

Laney Slater-Spencer was a beautiful baby. Pink cheeked with a head of tawny curls, her tiny body swaddled in a red stocking, she was the perfect Christmas present.

Greenlee sat before the fireplace, marveling over her new baby, tracing the tip of her itty-bitty nose. Lucky brought in a tray of fruit and sweets and Zach carried a bottle of holiday cheer. They had agreed to imbibe only a little as Greenlee was breastfeeding.

"I can't believe she's here," Greenlee whispered, her voice full of wonder. "She's everything I was ever afraid to hope for and so much more."

Zach gently cupped Greenlee's face in his large hand. "We feel the same way about her mother," he said. He looked at Lucky with a soft, caressing smile. "Don't we?"

Lucky's heart was bursting, aching with love for his soulmates and expanding to include a space for their new infant too. He was so glad he had stayed, that they had fought for him, and he had fought for them in return, because they belonged together; to each other. For always.

"Absolutely," Lucky said. "You made us so proud."

"You sure did, sweetheart," Zach said. He kissed Greenlee's forehead, and then the baby's, before doing the same to Lucky.

Lucky fed Greenlee a grape and she grinned as she looked between the two men. "Merry Christmas, you guys," she said.

"Merry Christmas," they echoed as they settled down on either side of her.

The family of four held each other close throughout the winter night. Outside, the wind howled, and the waves thrashed against the shoreline but inside, everything was cozy and warm.

THE END.
