Author Notes:
After writing Mythological Union, I couldn't stop thinking about it for a while, but I wasn't planning on putting the time and effort to properly develop the story in all teh ways I thought, and anything more I make would leave it even more open-ended than before.
And then I thought:
"The original is already open-ended, why not open it MORE?"
And so I did.
Enjoy this little thing XD.
The Observers
I watched in silence as it began.
Reading their lips, I learned from Death itself of the story of which I only had fragments.
I watched as they were shocked, cried, steeled themselves, and as they began the ritual.
A combination of ancient powers that date to far before the hope of the world died, and one of unknown origin carried by a mere human.
A mere human, that had put all of this into motion… Just as the Founder predicted.
Watching the ritual was hard. The Corrupted One separated the submerged city from the rest of the world, and the Timeless Detective destroyed the timeline inside, making it almost impossible to see what happened inside or when was what I was seeing.
But once my eye lock-on a target, nothing else matters.
I was capable of witnessing it.
The resurrection of Hope.
Unfortunately, that's as far as I could see.
I was careful to hide my presence, and of watching far above from the sea so no stray droplet would reach me and alert the Fallen Princess.
But when Hope descended once again in this world, I'm ashamed to admit that even I got so moved that I stopped hiding myself for a moment.
That moment was enough for the Corrupted One to look in my direction.
I flew away before she could get a good look at me, nor mark me to keep a look on me later.
It would have been shameful if my mistake revealed our position.
And so, I went back to our base.
Suddenly, tears started pouring from my eyes.
It felt like out of nowhere, and the girls around me got alarmed and swarmed me, worried.
But I couldn't answer.
I couldn't muster myself to pour out a word.
This sensation running through my wings.
The light of my halo growing stronger…
…It has come back.
The most essential thing in this world.
More important dreams, love, determination, and friendship.
That which was taken from us so long ago.
She who was born from Good and Evil to guide the world.
"Hope…"
The single word escaped my lips, confusing Luna, Watame, and Coco as they tried to understand what was wrong.
With a loud bang, the room of the kitchen where Towa was getting some drinks blasted open, and she entered with tears going down her face.
Her wings, usually hidden, were extended and bigger than I have ever seen them. Her horns had grown, and were irradiating power.
We looked each other in the eyes. We both knew what had happened.
We need to tell the Boss!
"I have come to visit Peko~!"
Jumping through the surface of the moon is always so fun~.
"Peko Peko~"
It takes a bit of work to jump all the way here, but Moona may end locking herself up here and streaming all day.
That's no good~, you have to spend some time with me Peko~.
Now, where was her PC…
Aha, there she is!
"Hey Moona!"
I jumped at her, expecting her to catch me… But with her gaze fixed on the Earth, she didn't notice me, and I ended tackling her to the ground.
"Wha- Moona, you okey!?"
This is strange!
Moona normally reacts instantly to my voice!
And even now, with me on top of her, her gaze is still fixed on Earth!
"Oi Moona, are you okey!? What got you like that!?"
She continued looking at Earth as if on a trance, leaving an awkward silence behind.
Until finally, some words finally escaped her mouth.
"My light… Is reaching it. For the first time in millennia… My light is truly reaching the Earth…"
Eh? What the peko is she talking about?
Mmm…
"…I don't really get what you are saying… But!"
I got up, and crossed my arms looking at the planet in front of us.
"Whatever that means, if your light is reaching it even stronger, this means the prosperity of Pekoland!"
It may even revive our Ancient Weapon Peko~!
Cleaning the glasses as usual, I relaxed by the sound of the music. It was a slow day, few patrons coming today, but that was okey.
This was the type of place where one shouldn't feel the need to come. No, it would be even better if they didn't need it at all, so I enjoyed this day of peace.
Though it was by no means empty, some people that simply enjoyed the flavor that the atmosphere added to the alcohol would always be present. There were some at the pool table, one weird italian man trying to remember how to change the music, and two by the counter, a man and a woman on opposite corners.
They were enjoying their drinks, so I didn't pay them much attention. But suddenly, they got up from their seats, an alarmed expression on their faces.
The woman, a type of elf I think, looked at a wall… No, beyond it, but I didn't know where to.
"They snow of home has gotten softer… Colder… It is… It is like it used to be so long ago…"
The man one-horned man took out his sword, and looked at it with an anxious expression.
"Why… Why so suddenly?… I have not fought with it long enough for it to gain sentience…! Tch! I'll throw it away while I still can!"
The man and the woman hurriedly ran off to deal with whatever happened.
Forgetting to pay for their drinks.
"…I'll charge them extra next time they come."
Though, it's strange. I have been a bartender for a long time, so I can understand people's emotion pretty well through small changes in their expressions. And the expression f those two… No, the expression of every patron looks more… Hopeful, in a way.
"Something big must have happened…"
As I muse over such things, the music changes. Looks like that italian guy remembered how the machine worked.
"Get back! Don't take another step!"
I thrust the char forward, blocking the thing from grabbing me. I was too careless, trying to catch-up to that detective I lost sight of Haato-chan, and let her be overtaken by the thing!
And to make it worse, for some reason it's now over-exited!
"I cook Yagoo!"
I don't wanna die like this!
"You are in quite a predicament, eh boss?"
Through the corner of my eye I see Okayu-chan lazing around in my sofa, looking unconcerned.
"Can't you at least try to stop it!?"
"No way, that's your problem. I'm sleeping."
And like that, she turned around giving me her back, and fell asleep. At least call for help!
"Ahahahahha, tasty Yagoo!"
A loud thump resonates through the room, as the gate is kicked open.
"Boss, I came to the rescue!"
And there she stood, one of the few that carry my dream on her back and my most trusted helpers.
Subaru-chan… There is nothing you can do against this thing.
"And I brought help!"
"Heya Boss!"
The small girl suddenly appeared from the corner of the door, her presence almost overwhelming.
Ugh, Matsuri-chan! I guess I'm saved… But!
As my thoughts became a mess, she walked towards us, and suddenly jumped at the thing, embracing it.
"You wanna eat Yagoo too~?"
"Sleep, that's an order from God."
With those words, the expression of the thing suddenly changed, and as if the world was being twisted around it, it's appearance changed inside a distortion in space. When it went away, in it's place was a young woman with a confused expression.
"…Eh? Weren't we in the airport? Where are we…?"
"Haato-chan, don't worry about those silly things and do it with me~!"
"Wha- Matsuri-chan!? What are you do- No, wait, dont' touch them!"
Ahhhh, I'm saved…
But… Why did the thing suddenly attack me? It normally simply says it'll cook me later and leaves it at that. What did that detective do…?
"Boss, sorry to interrupt your thoughts, but something big happened."
"Subaru-chan?"
"She… She's back."
"She…?"
…No. No, there is no way. No matter how much I thought about it, how many people were supporting my dream, I couldn't find how to bring her back. I had to give up.
"Hope is back."
…I have been beaten. That detective pulled a miracle right while I was trying to catch her. If she has gotten Hope itself by her side, I won't be able to make her join us.
Once I got that spy to keep an eye on her across time I thought that would be enough. I got too overconfident! …But…
"That's wonderful!"
This is still a great thing. Be she with us or not, her presence will make a tremendous impact in the war that's coming.
As long as people have hope in their hearts, we won't make the same mistakes.
This time, the Council will be eternal…
…And my dream will be within my reach.
I walked down the main hallway of our base.
It wasn't too big of a place, since there were only five of us, and we couldn't risk getting uncovered too soon.
I stopped in front of the huge gates leading to the throne room.
The other three were already waiting for me.
Koyori greeted me enthusiastically, wanting to know how her serum worked on the Phoenix.
Iroha was sitting on the ground cleaning her sword, the blood refusing to leave it. A small unhappy greeting, she was clearly not feeling well. She had failed to keep the Abomination from reaching that group, and almost ruined our plans. Well, everything ended working out, so she'll get over that frustration.
Chloe was looking bored at her freshly painted nails. She hasn't had any job to do this time since Iroha failed to take down the Abomination, but I won't accept that she didn't even try to greet me. I'll have a serious talk with her later.
Once we were all together, the gates opened, and we walked inside. We stopped in front of the throne, and knelt down, showing our respects to the little girl sitting on it with a bored expression. She then re-accommodated herself on her throne, sitting straight and as tall as she could. The wretched Crow resting on top of her head, looking at us with hate.
Her expression changed to a severe one overflowing authority as she spoke.
"Heed my call!"
"Yes My Dark!" "Yes My Dark!" "Yes My Dark!" "Yes My Dark!"
We all answered together.
The Founder's face changed to one of glee, and she relaxed on her throne. The shackles on her arms, legs, and neck clinging as she made herself comfortable.
"So? How did it go?"
She already knew the answer.
"Our mission was a success. I saw with my own eyes as Hope was resurrected."
She looked at us smugly. No, she was looking specifically at Chloe, as she tried to look away nervously. I guess that's on her for doubting that the human would be able to pull it off.
Dear me… I guess I'll save her from that and change the subject.
"The mission went through some obstacles and failings, but with a bit of help the Timeless Detective… Watson Amelia, was able to push through. Hope has come back to the world."
"Kukuku… Excellent, excellent! Everything is going as it should! Soon, I'll be able to free myself from this wretched seals!"
She was laughing happily, which put my heart at peace. We were one step closer to our glorious goal, and that wretched Crow could do nothing but watch helplessly.
"Founder, what is the next step?"
Koyori asked enthusiastically. She asked what we all had in mind. With Hope back, the natural course of events has been drastically changed, so prior information and plans don't longer apply.
Now, we are in course to a new glorious future for our society.
The Founder closed her eyes for a moment, and her shackles started vibrating. They were getting in the way, stopping her from taking a deep look.
But it's not enough. They may block her connection with the universe almost entirely, but there are still fragments that reach her.
And that's enough.
"…Yes… Yes! Everything is falling into place!"
She stood up from her throne, and looked at the sky, beyond the roof above our heads.
"Now it's only a matter of time. Planet Eden is almost at our grasp! Soon, you'll heed my call… Council!"
We all smiled at the words of the Founder, of the predetermined glorious future at our reach.
Soon, we'll reach our promised land.
I watched over the city from the top of the office building.
All the people walking around, living their lives, making connections with each other and leaving a bit of themselves behind everywhere they go as they chase their dreams, both big and small.
I saw all of them.
I felt all of them.
Not only in this city, but all around the world.
And now, I felt something new.
A new type of connection, a new type of feeling. One that had been broken inside them for so long that was almost forgotten.
Tears swelled up in my eyes, as I listened to the beautiful song of salvation resonating across all living beings, with that girl at the center of it.
It was wonderful…
…But I can't dwell too much upon that feeling, it looks like I have a visitor. It feels bad to have yet another reunion that I have to keep a secret from everyone, but I don't want to betray their trust.
Our connection is very dear to me, so I'll keep my word and not let Yagoo-san learn about them.
"It has been a few years… Omega."
Author Notes:
When I made this, I had 1 thing in mind:
I wanted to have someone representing EVERY group in Hololive and Holostars.
So there is at least 1 person from each group, in one way or the other XD.
Of course, only from the groups that were present at the time.
And with this, I opened even more the story of Mythological Union, while also refusing to continue it XD.
Hope you enjoyed!
