Summary:
The guy who likes Komura had a request!
Chapter 2: Kaleidoscope
Was Komura crazy for acquiescing to Azuma's request? He was. He absolutely was!
I am! I didn't even say yes, yet he put his hand on me and –!
His answer must've been written all over his face. Azuma moved his hand to rub the other cheek as requested, a clear invasion of personal space.
WHY ARE GOOD-LOOKING ALPHA GUYS LIKE THIS?
So much for the textbook to hide behind. It wasn't working at all!
This is totally useless! He wanted to throw the book at his door in anger, but found, to his shock, the book wasn't in his hands anymore.
Azuma hadn't taken it from him. He'd distractedly set it down himself.
Wrahwrahwrah…Azuma-kun's close. I'm blushing. DAMMIT, WHAT AM I BLUSHING FOR? Is this it? Am I losing to hot-guy fragrance?
Azuma wasn't in fact getting closer and closer, as Komura perceived he was.
Komura wasn't used to Mie-san giving him looks (innocent or not – God, what if they were not?), and was unravelling under Azuma's inspection. Although what his mom would think was more relevant to his current situation – on account of her being in the other room (prone to prying, Takatsu in hand) – Komura's brain turned to mush imagining what his fellow classmen at school would think. Their takes on Azuma's apparent advances.
If they were anything like how they were around him and Mie-san, Kawato-san and Toyama-san would giggle and fawn, wouldn't they? Someya-san would have trouble keeping it a secret and blow things out of proportion, Hibuchi-san would be nice and take matters into her own hands to guarantee they stayed together, and Yasaka-kun and Hinata-kun would hand him a hard dose of reality about how transparent he was.
That girl he didn't know…The girl who loved Azuma-kun…The girl who confessed her love to Azuma-kun while Komura and Mie listened behind a tree…She'd be sad, wouldn't she?
Was the story Azuma told Mie-san cooked up? Was Komura the "lady in college that lives next door" Azuma told Mie-san he liked?
Were…Were the bird cookies for me? Did Azuma-kun decide not to give them to me because he thought he screwed them up? AHHHH, Mie-san!
What would Mie-san think?
She'd probably forget her glasses again. She'd stare directly at him confused. Both of them: confused!
Mie-san apologized for squinting, but she didn't squint, per se. Not in the sense her eyes got smaller. When straining to focus, her eyes actually got bigger (appeared to, anyway). Or they slanted perfectly, the world spinning from either of their points of view.
Mie-san's eyes defined the rims of the world. Or they were the world.
Can I be her world? Nono, control yourself, joker! What are you thinking?
Oh. Were Azuma-kun's eyes this arresting and I didn't notice?
Like looking into a dark kaleidoscope.
Stop.
He hears airplane engines. Speaking of which, there was always one flying over school, wasn't there? In romantic opportunities like these…
I have to hide my face forever. What am I doing? Get a grip, me!
His heart was running up the stairs at school.
Did this feeling have a name?
Would Mie-san teach it to him?
Would Azuma-kun?
