Knocking out these chapters! Not much to say about this chapter but hope you all enjoy it and leave a review!

Chapter 3: Learning the basics

Feeling the hard ground beneath me, I let out a groan as I sat up. The darkness was so thick it felt like a physical presence, enveloping me in its embrace. Orienting myself, I knock out a block to get some light in. Light streams through the hole showing me a boring wood box. "The goal for today is to upgrade this place and get some new tools!"

Throwing my shirt back on quickly, I break the other box and walk back out into the forest. "Now the book said I need to find a cave." I leave my house, slowly doing circles around it looking for anything that looks like a cave.

About 40 meters away, (Should probably use blocks to measure, translating to about 40 blocks.) I see an entrance to a cave with a narrow enough entrance for me to enter. Pulling my pickaxe I enter. "I can't see anything in this cave. Need to make a torch like the book said. I'm gonna assume the coal comes from underground so this is my best bet."

Entering the cave a little further I see the grass and dirt transition to stone. Mining it gives me a broken version of said stone "This must be the cobblestone that the book referred to." Grabbing 40 blocks I think to myself 'That should last me for a little bit. Against the wall, I see a stone block with brownish veins running through it. "This should be valuable!" I ran over to it and hit it with my pickaxe repeatedly. After about a minute, the block breaks but does not drop any item.

"What the hell! Where is the drop?" Confused, I pull the book back out to hopefully learn what

happened. I open the book to the second chapter.

Chapter 2:Mining

Congrats on surviving your first night! The next step and wanna-be survivor will be to go mining! This chapter will cover everything important about mining.

The first important thing about mining is that mobs like to hide in the dark. Torches will allow you to light up the dark and keep the mobs from coming out. Once you enter the cave, mining some stone will allow you to upgrade your tools. Recipes are the same as wood tools but with cobblestone replacing the wood.

Ores to be found:

(Can be mined with wood pickaxe)

Coal ore: Stone with black streaks through it - Used for crafting torches, and fuel for cooking in a furnace

(Can be mined with a stone pickaxe)

Iron Ore: Brown streaks -Can be crafted into Iron ingots, which are used for upgrading tools above stone. Can also be used to make armor.

Copper ore: Copper streaks -Considered the most useless ore, Very few uses for this ore. May be smelted into Copper Ore. May be used for making a lighting rod and spyglass.

(Can be mined with an Iron pickaxe)

Redstone ore: Red streaks - Used for creating currents of power, can be used for making very complex machinery.

Gold ore: Gold streaks - Can be smelted into gold ore. Can be used for armor and tools but durability is very low. Used mainly for signs of wealth.

Lapis Lazuli ore: Dark blue streaks - Used for enchanting and magic.

Emerald Ore: Green streaks - Used as currency in Minecraftia

Diamond ore: light blue streaks - Considered the most valuable ore. Can be used for armor and tools. Most durable items are made of this ore.

There are many hazards in the mine including mobs. Some possible ones are falls, Caveins, Lava, and falling Stalagmites. Cave spelunking is very profitable, but can be quite dangerous.

Finishing that chapter answered many of my questions while also stressing me out quite a bit. "I did not realize that mining was this dangerous. No wonder that item didn't drop, I need to upgrade to stone tools." Using my wood and cobblestone I upgrade my tools all to stone. "I'll keep the wood ones just in case, never know when they will come in handy."

Matching the description of Iron, I try to mine the ore with my new pickaxe. Luckily when it breaks this time, the item drops. Grabbing the other 2 pieces nets me with 3 pieces. "If I had read more of the book I would have 4." Frustrated, I promised myself I would read more of the book when I had time. Luckily, just a few blocks away is an ore with black streaks. "Yes! Just what I needed." Swinging my pick, I mine the one block of coal I see. 2 blocks appear above and behind it with the same streaks. "This stuff seems valuable, I'll grab as much as I can." Mining the two revealed 4 more. Continuing, I can grab a total of 27 coal. "Man that ore vein felt like it was never gonna end. Not complaining though!"

Throwing 4 coal in my hand with 4 sticks pops out 16 torches. Placing one down lights up the area around me. "Finally we have light!" On the edge of the light, I see more of the iron ore. Excited at the prospect of armor and better tools I rushed over to the ore.

As I go to grab it, An arrow goes flying past my head. "Holy shit!" Out of the darkness comes a real-life skeleton made of blocks with a bow. Behind the skeleton is what looks like a blocky zombie. As the zombie gets closer, the smell alone causes me to gag and almost throw up. Surprisingly, the skeleton does not have much of a smell but the sound of the bones scraping and clanking together gives me the creeps nonetheless.

The skeleton kind of hangs back, most likely preparing another shot. The zombie, on the other hand, rushing me as fast as it can. (Which only ends up being a slow lumber.) Putting the zombie between me and the archer, I whip out my sword and charge the zombie.

Swinging my sword at the zombie's head, I am shocked to see what looks like the zombie dodge. As my sword swings, at the last second the zombie ducks beneath the blade. In what seems like perfect timing, the skeleton shoots right as the zombie ducks. Glancing across my blade, the arrow knocks my sword up and to the right… Leaving me wide open. From his duck, the zombie swings both of his fists and hits me right in the chest. This attack alone sends me flying across the cave to smash into a wall.

With all the wind knocked out of me, but not feeling the telltale sign of broken bones in my chest, I can only watch as the zombie stumbles up to me. Raising his fists he goes to finish the kill. Closing my eyes, I accept this is the end to the first mob I encounter. I flinch, expecting the hit to land. That hit never comes.

Opening my eyes I see an arrow sticking out of the zombie's head. Falling forward, the zombie lands on top of me. On the other side of the cave, I hear fighting but I can not see what is happening. After a few seconds, the fighting dies down, and I catch my breath enough to push the zombie off me. Greeting me is the last sight I expected. Standing with a sword in hand and a foot on the skeleton's head is a human. Made of blocks like everything else but human nonetheless. She is about 5 '5 wearing full grayish armor with dark brown hair Coming out of her helmet. Turning towards me she smirks at me.

"Looked like you needed help."

Thank you for reading. Nick seems like he's outclassed by these mobs! Luckily he was found or that might have been the end of his story. Leave a review with any suggestions or ideas. Still looking for OCs, won't be introduced for a little while. Hope to see you all in the next chapter!
