-CHAPTER 3-
Annabeth Is Honest... For Once
It was August 18th. Great. My third year in this labor camp that was once a home. Annabeth alway had me hit with a rod three times. She said that it was to remind me that no matter how old I got, I was still subject to her will. One time, she forced me to make out with an Aphrodite girl named Anna in the morning and another named Beth at night. Possiblity an insult to the now stone-dead feelings I'd been developing for her. It was that time again, so I prepared for my Birthday Beating.
When the door opened, I saw Annabeth alone, with her knife drawn. I knew what she meant. She was very familiar with the fact that Riptide returned to me whenever I lost it, so she would routinely demand I hand it over to one of the guards watching me. If she came alone with her knife, that's because she wanted some solo time, but was always ready if I tried anything funny.
"I assume you've wanted to know why I joined Luke and Kronos?" Annabeth said./p
"I wanted to say "No! I'm not talking to an enemy!" but I knew that the enemy in front of me was too deadly to say that to her, which is why I smartly said, "Fine."
p style="text-align: left;""It was when Luke spoke to me that day, offering me a chance to run away with him. I admit I was cautious at first, but after he explained that he wanted us to be family. That I would be able to build whatever I wanted. He reminded me about how ignorant the gods are. How they essentially use us for earthly errands. Also, you constantly got me into danger and would almost get us killed routinely. Luke has a way of handling things in a way that does not entail danger. I saw his way of thinking, and I agreed. We actually kept on trying to get Grover to assassinate you. I tried doing it subtly, sow doubt into his mind. But he was either too ignorant, too loyal, or both; he had to die."
"At least you're telling me the truth about why you're a back-stabbing-"
"I wouldn't go there." Annabeth warned.
p style="text-align: left;"I knew what she meant. She would have the Laystragonian guards hold me in place while she stabbed me in the weak spot in a public execution. I knew I had to do something, but what?
