MoY: Chapter 6

It was now 11:30 pm on New Year's Eve here in Peach Creek. We could see Eddy standing around the playground, waiting for Double D to arrive. He was starting to feel a little nervous now while he was waiting.

After Christmas was over, both Double D and Eddy told everyone else in the neighborhood that they had become partners. Some of them seemed a little surprised, while a few others went, "Yeah, we knew this would happen one day," and "I'm not shocked at all."

The two teens were extremely nervous when they told Eddy's parents about their new relationship, considering how Evan was when he found out about Double D's feelings for his younger brother; he tried to kill them both. Thankfully, Eddy's mom and dad accepted them without any sort of argument, though they did ask Eddy if this was something he truly wanted, "Sometimes people don't think clearly when they are put under pressure like you two were," his dad said to him back then, "I'm not against you two being together; I just wanted to make sure this isn't something that you would go back on your word from if it doesn't work out."

Eddy told them (still in text-to-speech) that he was sure about this, "Then I see no problem with this," his mom replied with a big smile, "I'm so happy for you both!"

Eddy could finally see Double D approaching him a few minutes later, "Greetings, Eddy," he said with a gaped smile as he adjusted his glasses a little to see him.

Eddy could only smile back at him.

"So, I assume you found a spot to watch the fireworks at, correct?" Double D asked.

Eddy nodded his head. It was then that Double D noticed that Eddy did not have his cell phone out to talk to him through text-to-speech like had been doing this whole time.

"I see, we should get going then. It's almost midnight," Double D chuckled.

The two teens began to walk towards the spot Eddy picked out for them to watch the fireworks. It was while they were heading there that Double D noticed something, the location they were going toward was the junkyard nearby. It had been a very long time since they came here for any reason, 'I guess the junkyard is also near the fireworks nearby. I didn't think of that!' Double D thought to himself.

They soon entered the junkyard; it had not changed at all over the years. Double D then noticed where they were going; it was to the '70s van with the waterbed in the back that was still there. It had not rusted at all over the years, which was honestly impressive. The two of them opened the back of the van to sit down in it, looking out from it towards the direction in which the fireworks would go off. Double D took out his cell phone to look at what time it was now; 11:58, two minutes left until the new year began, "Seems like we arrived just in time."

The two Eds sat there for a short moment, holding their hands together as they waited for the fireworks to start.

"… Double D."

Double D widened his eyes in shock as he turned to Eddy. Eddy's voice still sounded hoarse from what happened, but he was finally talking for the first time since the incident.

"Eddy! Y-You spoke!" Double D gasped.

Eddy nodded his head, "Yeah, it started to feel better yesterday. It still hurts to talk, but…" he started to hold Double D's hand a little tighter, "I felt like I couldn't say this over text-to-speech. So, I waited until now to tell you this when I could talk again."

Eddy looked at Double D with a smile, "I love you."

Double D looked to Eddy in disbelief before a few tears started to form in his eyes, "Wait, I-I'm not dreaming this, am I? Do you mean that?!"

Eddy nodded his head to him, "Yeah."

Double D's heart started to beat faster and faster as a deep blush began to form all over his face, "Eddy…! I love you too!" Double D replied with a big smile, "I've felt this way for so long!"

"Heh, I know."

They embraced tightly before passionately kissing each other, right as the fireworks went off in the sky above them, signaling the start of the new year. They stayed like this for a few seconds before realizing the fireworks had started.

"Oh my, I didn't realize how good the view was here," Double D stated, looking up at the fireworks, "There's also not a crowd around to bother us, so it's nice and peaceful."

"Yeah…" Eddy said before looking to Double D once again. He could feel his heart pounding out of his chest at what he was about to do, "H-Hey…"

"Hmm?" Double D looked to Eddy beside him, "What is it?"

Eddy starts to hold his hand tightly again before pulling Double D with him towards the inside of the old van, closing the doors behind them as he did. Double D widened his eyes at what was happening, they were now both lying on the waterbed, "E-Eddy?! What on Earth are you doing?!"

"Double D…" Eddy started to say to him before making a deep sigh to himself, a deep blush came across his face, "I didn't pick this place just for viewing the fireworks tonight…" he placed both his hands on his partner's chest before asking, "I-I… I wanted to ask you if this was something you would want to do one day. It doesn't have to be right now, but I still wanted to ask."

Double D stared at him for a second before realizing what Eddy was asking him. He gasped in shock at what his partner said, blushing even a deeper red than Eddy was right now, "O-Oh my goodness, Eddy…!" he stuttered, covering his face with his hands because of Eddy's statement.

Double D soon noticed something else, Eddy had brought a blanket and two pillows to the van before they arrived, "Don't worry, I only brought them just in case," Eddy said, noticing what he was looking at, "I even have something to protect us if we go for it, but it's all up to you, Sockhead. I'm not gonna force you if you don't wanna do it."

There was a small bit of silence between them before Double D spoke up, "I-I've never thought about doing something like this before… Just being with you is enough to put my mind at ease," he made a smile to Eddy, "And I appreciate the offer, I truly do. It tells me that you do care about me. But I think we should wait until we're older. We're still both 17 and in high school, after all…"

"Heh, I knew you'd say that," Eddy replied, closing his eyes, "Don't worry, I get it. We can wait until we're both ready."

"… But honestly, I don't think sleeping together like this is a bad thing; as long as nothing happens."

Eddy's eyes opened back up to look at his partner in shock, "Wait, are you sure you're okay with that?!"

"Yes… this is perfect," Double D stated with a warm smile, "Let's stay for a moment before returning to my house for the rest of the night, okay?"

Eddy made a big smile to Double D as he grabbed the blanket and two pillows he brought here, pulling the blanket over him and his partner. Double D took off his glasses and placed them to the side so he could lie down beside Eddy. The inside of the abandoned van was bitter cold despite the blanket with them, but they could both feel each other's warmth as they lay there together on the waterbed, holding their hands tightly.

"Thanks, Double D," Eddy said to him before he began to drift off to sleep. He then could feel Double D latch onto his arm as he started to go to sleep. Eddy smiled before hugging him back, finally drifting off to sleep next to his partner. Everything in the world felt right once more.
