Yo, Pasta here. Just to let you know, some of the dialogue is abridged and is not exact so I could get this out quicker :)
CHAPTER 1: Encounter Pt. 1
"Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful." - Zig Ziglar
IZUKUIzuku had never been so eager to leave school before. He was embarrassed beyond belief. His class probably thought he was even more of a loser than they had thought. He wanted to believe that his classmate's opinions on him didn't matter, but they did and he couldn't stop thinking about it.
He scratched at his neck mindlessly, barely even noticing that he was doing it. He hoped and prayed that his notebook was not destroyed by Kacchan, and that it was still out here somewhere. As they say, ask and you shall receive because his notebook was in a little stream next to the school. He sighed and grabbed it, "It's not fish food." He said out loud and the fish swam away.
'How could this day get any worse?' He asked himself in his head. He kept thinking, 'What would All Might do in this situation?' He decided that if All MIght had just been embarrassed he'd probably still be smiling. And he certainly wasn't smiling… Needless to say, he certainly started smiling after that realization.
As he walked into a tunnel he laughed a hearty chuckle, and he thought everything was going to be okay. 'It doesn't matter if Kacchan doesn't believe in me. I'm still going to be the number one hero no matter what!' Nothing could ruin his spirits now he thought. And then something immediately ruined his spirits.
A villain attacked Izuku before he could even react, he had some kind of slime quirk. He had engulfed Izuku in slime and he couldn't move a muscle on his body. He struggled with all of his might to escape, but nothing happened. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't move, he couldn't do anything. He tried to scream for help… But nobody came to save him. The villain said something but Izuku was too focused on escaping this seemingly inescapable death trap.
His head started to feel light and he was on the verge of losing consciousness. Just a minute ago he was all bubbly and happy, but now he was hopeless and seemingly on the verge of death. He looked back on his short life and he came back to a memory that he'd thought a lot about recently.
It had been right after the doctor told him that he was quirkless and that he should give up on his dreams. He'd never felt so hopeless for the future and he probably never will. His dreams were completely and utterly crushed, and for all intents and purposes he should've given up. He shouldn't have kept going. His mother, bless her soul, showed him the video of All Might's debut. And Izuku couldn't help but cry, 'I'll never be like All Might, I'll never be a hero, I'll never save anyone.' That was the train of thought that was blaring through his head.
He suddenly asked a question to his mother, one that had startled her. "Can I… Be a hero too?" He reacted by running up to him and giving him a big hug and saying, "I'm sorry Izuku!" That wasn't what he wanted to hear, he'd never cried harder than that day.
Now, back in the present Izuku wondered if that should've been it, if he should've abandoned all hope that day. Maybe he would've been happier, maybe he'd have more friends. But of course he had to chase a dream he couldn't achieve no matter how hard he worked. He was full of self pity.
But regardless of how hopeless his dream was he never could give it up. Like there was a fire in his soul, making it impossible for him to give up. Izuku Midoriya was going to be the number one hero, he couldn't imagine a reality in which he wasn't. It was part of him, his core desire. He decided that if he escaped this monster he would be the number one hero no matter what! So with every bit of energy left in his pathetic body, Izuku Midoriya struggled. It became a desperate game of life and death, one in which he was the only player.
He struggled for what felt like hours, despite his lack of oxygen he hadn't passed out yet. From the other end of the tunnel a figure with bags in his hand came flying out of a sewer drain. 'Wait, is it that…' His suspicions were confirmed as he heard, "TEXAS… SMASH!" And a wave of air hit both him and the slime monster, sending them both flying. All Might was his savior, his childhood hero, the symbol of peace was the one to save him. He had so much to ask, but as soon as he hit the ground he passed out.
"Hey! Wake up!" All Might said to the unconscious body of Izuku Midoriya. His eyes started to open. "Good I thought we lost you there!" As soon as Izuku saw All Might he screamed in surprise and shuffled back. Too shocked to say he just looked at him, the man whom he'd admired since childhood was right in front of him.
He wanted to ask All Might to sign his notebook, but to his surprise he already did. A giant signature with his insignia and "All Might" printed in giant font. Izuku had just gotten the number one hero's signature! "Thank you so much! This'll be an heirloom, a treasure passed down through generations to come!" He said enthusiastically, All Might gave him a casual thumbs up in response. "I've got to get this guy," showing Izuku the slimy substance that tried to kill him contained in a water bottle, "to the police station. Goodbye, young man."
'He couldn't go just yet! I still have so many questions I have to ask him!' "Wait, you're leaving already?" All Might hardly looked back at the kid, "Pro heroes are constantly fighting time as well as enemies!" He started stretching his legs, preparing to launch himself in the air. "Stand back, I'm taking off." In an instant Izuku knew what he had to do, right as All Might took off he clinged to his leg.
TOSHINORIAll Might, who hadn't noticed the child screamed, "Thank you for your continued support!" As he flew away at subsonic speeds. He felt something on his leg. Did the villain escape? He thought, but no it was the child whom he had just saved, Another crazy super fan? The nerve of some people! "Hey, hey, hey, what do you think you're doing?" He asked, "Let go! I love my fans but this is too much!" He told the child, and the boy responded, "No way! We're flying if I let go I'll die!"
All Might calmed down a little and said, "Oh, that's a good point." The boy, who was holding on for dear life shouted. "I just have a lot of questions I want to ask you personally, you're my all time favorite hero! All Might please!" The brat's gonna die if I don't land. So if I just answer his questions he'll leave me alone right? "Alright, fine! Just keep your eyes and mouth shut!" The boy made a terrified squeal as he looked around for places to land. All Might coughed a little, Shit, I'm almost out of time in my muscle form. I have to land and get out of here quickly!
He settled on the top of a building, the boy was quite literally shaking in his boots as we landed. "Not a very smart move was it? Bang on the door for a while, someone will let you in. Now I have to go, see you on the flipside!" The boy, much to his surprise, didn't relent, "Wait, not yet, one second!" All Might was done with this kid, he had to go. "No, I don't have any time!" He continued walking. The boy (who completely ignored the last statement.) said, "I have to know…" He paused for a second, "Can I become a hero if I don't have a quirk?" All Might stopped in his tracks. The boy continued muttering, but there were bigger problems in All Might's head. He was out of time in his muscle form, and this boy was about to see him in his weak form. He'd already been pushing his time limit but now there was no chance of him escaping.
A smoke screen surrounded him but there was nothing he could do, once it faded the boy saw his weak form. The boy screamed in a high pitched voice. He looked at All Might in confusion, before coming to the conclusion that he was fake. "Where did All Might go? You," He pointed at All Might, "You're a fake, an imposter!" I could just let him believe that, and make my escape. No! That'd be cruel, he's some kind of super fan I just can't let him start gossiping about this. "I can assure you that I am All Might-" He stopped speaking and blood spilled from his mouth. The boy screamed again, "Impossible!" All Might had basically no choice but to explain what's going on to the boy, "Y'know how guys at the pool are always sucking in and flexing to try and look buff? I'm like that."
The boy looked like his entire world was just shattered, "This can't be real… No! I'm dreaming… All Might's a giant of a man that overcomes all obstacles, and wins the day with a fearless smile." Kid's got it all wrong, I'm more scared than anyone. All Might flashes back to his fight with All For One. The pure terror that he felt that day as he fought with everything that he had, and more for not only than just himself, for the previous holders of One for All. He'd come out on top, but with scars; both mental and physical. He couldn't be a hero for more than three hours a day.
He didn't know why, but he felt an obligation to tell this boy, maybe he saw a fragment of himself in him. "There's plenty of fear in that smile. I'm counting on you to keep your mouth shut. " That last sentence was kind of manipulative, he knew that this boy would probably do anything he said because of his admiration for him. But his day was completely ruined, and he could care less about his morals when his second biggest secret had just been revealed to a random kid he just met.
He pulled up his shirt and showed the boy his scar, "Gross huh? Got this in a big fight five years back, basically destroyed my respiratory system and completely destroyed my stomach. All of the surgeries have completely worn me out, I can only do hero work for three hours a day, rest of the time this is what I look like." The kid flinched at that and said, "No way! Five years ago, so does that mean it was the fight with Toxic Chainsaw?" All Might was a bit surprised that he knew so much about him, and now that he learnt his secret he knows more about him than almost everybody else. "Wow, you know your stuff. But no, punk may have landed some hits, but he couldn't bring me down. Most of the world's never heard of this fight, I did all I could to keep it under wraps."
All Might decided to connect his vent to the boy's previous question,. "I'm supposed to be the guy who's always smiling right? I'm the symbol of peace, people everywhere need to think that I'm never afraid. But really? I smile to hide the fear inside, this job isn't easy. Pro heroes are constantly risking their lives, some villains just can't be beat without powers so no, I honestly don't think you can become a hero without a quirk."
Author's Note:
