A/N: Hello! This is my first story, and I would gladly take any criticism about this story, so that I can improve on my writing.
A Small Change in Scenery.
That's all the Terrarian noticed as he woke up in his ruined armor.
In fact, he doesn't even know where he is. He simply appeared in this forest; his map on the cellphone, a map that he painstakingly made didn't even function, all the Terrarian remembered before waking up was him teleporting back home after beating Xeroc. He doesn't even recognize the trees! They looked entirely different compared to the ones he remembers in Terraria.
'Great, just my luck to wake up in yet, ANOTHER unfamiliar place. Man, it's just like that time in the crimson patch... I wonder how that even got there was only supposed to be the corruption.' The Terrarian wondered for a bit.
From what he gathered from the small number of townsfolk that chose to stay in the houses he built, they specifically said it was only corruption and wondered about what the crimson was. Sure, they weren't the Best at providing less known information but at least some would have heard about it, especially the guide and that travelling merchant. 'But even they were confused at what it was?'
The Terrarian shrugged. 'Anyway, enough thinking. I should probably figure out where I am, because it certainly isn't in a place I remember because I would surely remember these trees while I was still exploring heavily, that's for sure.'
He started inspecting the surrounding area, hoping that maybe he would find some sort of clue on where he was 'Maybe it was on the outer edges of Terraria's continent like, what town was it again? Journey's end? I think it was? I forgot...' The Terrarian mentally apologized to the townspeople that lived there.
After a couple more hours of inspecting the forest that surrounded him, he concluded 'I am not close to my town, that's for sure. Though I do wonder where this cellphone sent me to?'
The more he thought about how he ended up here, he got more confused like how the cellphone malfunctioned when it was one of the more how you say? Intact? Yeah, intact items he had after he fought Xeroc, which leads to his question. 'Where on Terraria is this place?'
He shook his head. That was a thought for another time he should find a way out of the forest before night comes
'I don't want to fight hundreds of zombies and demon eyes right now they are way too annoying. And speaking of enemies...' The Terrarian, now noticing a few red eyes hiding in the surroundings, grabbing his sword from his inventory. He, of course, decided to attack the red eyes first, without a care for his life yet again.
A few seconds later, he slashed the last of the black wolves. As he puts his sword back in his inventory, the corpses disintegrate into smoke, seeing that, he began trudging through the forest again. Not questioning why, after all the zombies and demons exploded into those "gibs." He always wondered how that happened. After that thought passed he started walking trough the forest again, hoping that nighttime doesn't come too fast, that or these monsters were going to eat up a lot more time than he'd think.
'Let's see...3PM, alright I got time before night falls, maybe I should find a place to set up camp in so I can fix this cellphone.' The Terrarian worriedly said as he looked at the cracked cellphone. It took him hours to make one, he'll be damned if he has to find the materials for another one.
The Terrarian looked down and remembered about the broken armor he was wearing, seeing this, he inwardly groaned almost accustomed to this sight after every major fight.
'Should check up on my gear before I break them more than they are.'
He decided to take off his armor and put it in his inventory, before immediately switching his outfit to the one he usually wears when he isn't off fighting Gods or monsters.
After a bit of time, he continued his walk to find the exit of the forest, sometimes he stopped to inspect some things such as the mushrooms or the strange silence that the forest had. He wondered if the animals went into hiding thanks to some predator. Then again, he has been killing some of those wolf looking things a fair number of times while he was walking through the forest so maybe those things drove them away?
A few hours later...
'Is that the exit? Oh, sweet it is the exit! Now it's time for me to find a town!' The Terrarian beamed with excitement, although he wasn't wearing his usual gear since they were all in disrepair. Though to him it didn't seem to matter, he was just happy he didn't have to stay in the forest for the night and that was good enough for him.
He was tired of sleeping in random spots that weren't his home.
'Maybe mapping out that forest wasn't the best idea.' The Terrarian, perhaps instinctually. Decided to map out the entirety of the forest. He never really liked to leave unkown areas unmarked, it would be bad if he got lost in them again, after all. Though it seemed to work against him this time.
After a bit of time passed, he felt his stomach growl on a path he found leading somewhere, on which he hoped was to a town. As he walked, he also hoped that it wouldn't be the other way. The number of times which he got lost thanks to him going the opposite way was astounding.
'Now that I think about it. I should probably retire from being a hero, I've done my job, now it's time for others to fix what I and the Gods broke and possibly ensure a better future for Terraria.'
The Terrarian after all the adventure, thought deeply about it. After a couple minutes of walking he thought 'Why not?' And he decided to live a simple life, finally taking a break from the constant near death experiences on the daily and finally enjoy what he first lost.
A life he could barely remember.
'Yeah, this feels nice. It feels great to not have to beat monsters in the daily. And considering all the calamity that the Gods and I caused during our fights... This is definitely better for them.' The Terrarian again, mentally apologized to the poor souls who will have to eventually fix those craters.
'Maybe I should've fixed those craters before heading off to fight The Traitor almighty (Xeroc).' The Terrarian sweated at the thought of not being able to at least pay the poor souls. He never liked leaving the damage he caused, to be fixed by other people. It didn't feel nice to him.
Eventually, he found a small town at the end of the path. He momentarily pumped his fists in the air before quickly setting it back down, embarrassed he did that.
'I should really fix that habit of mine.'
He walked to the town slowly, the moon was up, and he knows that he should've started walking a bit faster, just so he didn't start encountering zombies and demon eyes. But he found that he couldn't, thinking that. If the people there would recognize him as the Terrarian. He took a second to look up and think, but he found himself looking at the moon, he didn't seem too phased for some unknown reason, almost as if he recognized the moon from somewhere.
'Well, I guess I shouldn't worry about the town over there recognizing me.' He stared at the moon. Shattered, almost as if it was broken by a fight emerging on it. And the moment he gazed at the moon; did he realize that he wasn't on Terraria anymore.
With a renewed sense of reasoning, and maybe, a slight worry about what happened to this planet's moon. He walked up to the town with a faster pace, he started wonder if he needed to have an I.D of any kind, and if he did, how would he get one?
'Crap, I didn't think about that. Maybe this town doesn't need it, right? It seems far from any major city, or kingdom.' The Terrarian thought as he reasoned his thought down to a "Maybe I don't need one?"
Now, he was never good with people, so he wondered how he would introduce himself? Maybe a travelling merchant? A Traveller that wanted to find his sister? Or an adventurer, one that wanted to explore the area he was in right now? Maybe some random person from a remote town that he could make up?
He shook his head and decided on the last introduction he had fabricated in his mind.
'Well... Here goes nothing.' He had finally reached the town's entrance... Before a dozen wolf-like creatures and a bear emerged from the nearby forest looking like some horror movie creation, catching the guards, along with him. Off guard.
'This is gonna be long night isn't it?' The Terrarian sighed, mentally preparing himself for yet another fight with these black wolves. Though he didn't really need to.
