Well, that went well.
As the two guards look at Michael. They seemed to look less surprised than what he would've initially thought. Did the other people that visited this town not know about this so called "Rule" of theirs?
'Wait... Why is naming people out of color's a rule?' He thought as the two guards seemed to be talking about something. He didn't know, he was a tad bit more focused on questioning the rule after all. Though there was something he heard that was interesting.
"-nother one." Was all he could hear from them. Looks like he wasn't the only one it seemed, which got him into thinking... That is, if they allowed him time to think to himself. And as it so happens, the guards called him to follow them.
'Probably to escort me somewhere'
Seeing as there was no reason to refuse, nor any danger that they could present to him. The former hero of Terraria accepted. As they were walking TGA, rather TAG, he failed to realize his mistake in calling her TGA, so much so that he almost memorized it. Either way she asked him a simple question that wasn't too hard to answer.
"How much do you know about Remnant. Michael?" TAG asked him, albeit it seemed she said it with some slight curiosity, for some unknown reason that he could not think of. Either way he should answer truthfully, it improves their trust in him. At least, he thinks that it would help them trust him.
He needs their trust so there's no problem with his retirement. After all.
"Not much honestly. I just woke up in a forest in the middle of nowhere and I decided to try wander around, hopefully find a town. And look where I ended up. Here."
"Well, do you remember anything before that?" Lili decided to question me about something. And while it would certainly help if he could tell the truth, He doubts fighting Gods were a common thing here. Hell, even Terraria doesn't have that many Gods slayers, He could count them on both hands.
He decided to just tell her half the truth. He forgot who he was before his awakening in Terraria after all. He got some memories of his back though, mostly unimportant ones, but they still helped him remember himself. Or well... Who he was.
"Well, I barely know who I was myself. I just woke up in that forest and decided to try and exit it." The former hero of Terraria. Whilst in the middle of talking he realized that he simply woke to the sight of a forest. Twice. It was quite weird it happened twice, wasn't it? Though this time he didn't have a guide to help him. He thanks Andrew for teaching him about Terraria.
"Amnesia? Looks like he isn't like them." He again. Overheard the whisper she directed to Lav. He seriously wondered at how bad they were at whispering. Although they were a lot quieter this time around.
And thankfully, they forgot his slip-up on talking about Andrew. It seemed their mind forgot about that information. He should thank someone. Whoever he might need to thank that is.
'Since when did they whisper so quietly? They were so loud the last time they whispered. Was it because I wasn't listening too intently?' Michael swore that the last time they whispered to each other was loud enough to be heard by others. So why didn't he hear them nearly as much?
"So, Michael. How did you exactly end up near our town? If I may ask, after all we are quite far from Vale." TAG decided to ask him another question. Frankly, he was getting tired of these questions.
"Oops, I mean... I'm sorry I forgot you were an amnesiac for a second." Gee... What a way to apologize. Though he's seen much worse. Like that one bard. He wondered how they were doing right now. And what was he thinking about that apology?
What a weird sight to witness.
"It's fine. Although I do have a question... What's Vale?" Thanks to his half-excuse, they told him about Vale. Said it was one of four of major kingdoms. He supposed those monsters halted most prospects in building another kingdom. And as we walked to some place, they were leading me to. she continued to explain Vale and its history. It was quite an interesting history lesson. He might add.
"-And that's Vale. Pretty cool right? Well then just wait until I start talking about Beacon academy!" I spoke to him. And the more I explained Vale the more I noticed how intent he was at listening. 'Does he enjoy history lessons? Oh well!' After all, I did truly enjoy educating people in things I know about.
"Seems cool." And then all the thoughts I had about his intent disappeared immediately, as he replied with a tone so dry it could dry a desert. Did he fake listening to make me feel better? Or was he just that monotone? Either way he should know where we are now.
'Though... That amnesia is quite severe. He doesn't even remember what Dust or Lien is. Not even some of the essential knowledge, like the Grimm!' I felt bad for him. He barely remembers who he is and doesn't remember anyone or anything else. But... The more I think about it. The more something feels off about this. How did he lose his memories again?
'Right. He just woke up in a forest. Though it just doesn't sound right. What Grimm would just leave him there, nevertheless, how he looked uninjured. There should be at least something that confirms his amnesia.' I stared at him. He seemed to be in deep thought. Curious.
Wait, I just remembered!
"Lili!"
"Yeah?" She replied. Confused.
"Where we supposed to lead him to again?!" I completely forgot I had to escort him somewhere! It seems he forgot as well. Judging the surprised look on his face was out of surprise, and not worry.
"We were supposed to lead him to the captain!" Lili said. And the moment I heard her say that. I felt that something bad was about to happen.
"Well, well, well. Look who forgot about my orders." The captain just appeared behind us, and we were terrified. She is a scary woman when she's mad after all. And we forgot about her orders to lead Michael to her for her to question the weird actions he did, during the fight against that Grimm horde.
'How do we get out of this one?!'
'These girls are just a wonder to be around, aren't they?' Michael thought as he looked at the captain of the guards. She looked like one of them, stereotypical, tough girl anime woman. He wasn't good at descripting anything. Though... Considering the situation here. He thought that he should take this more seriously. Anyway, the captain had crimson hair. And clothing to match her. This place sure liked their colors, don't they?
'Man. I'm retired right now. Why did I have to get dragged into this. I just want to sleep already.'
Now the former hero was no stranger to these types of interactions. He was usually the one giving it after all. But right now, he just wanted to find an inn, or maybe an alleyway to sleep in. His thoughts drifted on how exactly he could sell these platinum coins of his.
"Listen. This is the third time this month that we encountered people who know nothing about Vale or remnant. Shouldn't you two have at least put your guard up with him?" That captain spoke sternly. It reminded him of Ca- nobody. Nobody in particular came to his mind.
Sighing quietly. He watched as the two guards get scolded for lowering their guards down with him. He supposed that it was fair. It seemed two others were like him. Though they didn't use amnesia as a reason. So, he guessed that he was the first to use it. Not like he was fully lying anyway.
"But sir. He seems to have gained amnesia." TAG seemed to have come to his defense. He was surprised it was her, rather than that Lili girl. Though he did talk to her more than he did her, so.
"Really now? And you trust him? What if he was lying?" The captain brought up a very valid argument against my half-truth. Shame it was half-truth.
"Quick! Say something about your amnesia!" TAG spoke to him. Probably to prove his innocence, how nice of her. As she spoke to him, there was a rather loud growling coming from his stomach. Everyone looked at him.
'I forgot about that. Well, it isn't the worst time I was hungry.' He could still remember being trapped in The Profaned Garden. Damned Goddess didn't let him leave till she died by his hands. He really should start focusing on things other than some old memories. Like his retirement from being the hero perchance?
"I just woke up in the forest. How else could I prove my amnesia?" He genuinely wonders when they would leave him alone so he could sleep. He fought Xeroc for most of the day until he got teleported here. His adrenaline had already run out. And he was tired.
The captain looked at him, inspecting him to see anything that could prove his testimony guilty. Too bad he was good at acting. The captain nodded as she started to believe his story, at least somewhat. He should probably ask who those other two people were though.
"I overheard you guys talking about something, so. Can I ask a question?" The three people looked at him, disappointed in his lack of professionalism. Though they did ask him if he wanted food. Hearing his little stomach beg for it. He then accepted without any hesitation. He was never going to deny free food.
"Sure. Go ahead Michael." TAG. He should've at least remembered her name now that he thought about it. He was getting tired of calling her TAG. Anyway, she replied while she was leading them to a restaurant. The people here were quite kind, weren't they? Though he could still feel the gaze the captain gave him whilst they were walking.
"You said, two others, right? Who were they?" Michael asked, genuinely curious who they were. Considering where he came from. It would be interesting to see other people from Terraria from here.
As he spoke, however. The three guards stopped dead on their tracks. It seemed the question he gave them were not ones they were comfortable answering. Did they kill or harm any of the villagers here? And if so. Why?
"Well... We don't talk about them. We'll tell you if we know you aren't with them. They are quite the odd people." Lili replied. Although very hesitantly. They started to walk again, after a moment of silence.
"Okay." He decided to hold off on his question until they could trust him more. After all. Would he give information to a stranger he met just today. No, no he wouldn't. Especially for a touchy subject like this.
"Anyway, we're here. A restaurant that serves the food that you may or may not have been hoping for." She spoke as we stopped and looked at the building. Seemed popular, seeing that there were quite a few people inside making so much noise that his drowsiness seemed to lessen. Only for it to immediately climb back up.
Probably due to his growing headache. He really wanted to sleep right now.
'But the food! I should hold out till I get food.' He was hungry and sleepy after this horrible day of adventure. He fought and killed Xeroc, got transported to Remnant, and now he has to maneuver his way to avoid being grouped up with those "odd people" they mentioned.
As the group decided to sit down at a table. There was a moment of silence. Silence that he enjoyed. As he was drifting off to dream land. A voice woke him up. Michael was glad that they decided to wake him up. He needed that food after all.
He opened his eyes to see the waiter asking for his order. He looked at the menu and took a quick scan of it, before deciding to just get some chicken.
I watched as this so-called amnesiac ordered his food. His story checked out. And it was consistent when mentioned. But no matter how consistent or convincing his story may be. It doesn't feel correct. Almost as if he was constantly lying.
'Those eyes of his are still full of life.' I inspected him. And noticed how he carried himself, with major confidence. Almost as if he beat several enemies worthy of tearing this town in half, and yet. He seemed almost innocent to a degree.
'I should ask him a question. Nothing too serious but enough that it might get me answers.'
"Sir. If I may ask a question."
"Can you drop the honorifics. It gets terribly repetitive. And if so, I might answer your questions" His tone didn't match his words at all. While his tone was soft-spoken. Along with it being friendly enough that it almost made me second guess his intentions for this town. His words were almost arrogant. To say the least. It didn't match him.
"Okay... Michael?" I wasn't quite used to calling others by their first name, so it felt awkward for me to say. I didn't even know him that well.
"That's better. So, what is your question?" He replied, though it seemed he was more eager for the food than my question, seeing as he looked towards the area where the kitchen was. Had he eaten anything before or after waking up in that forest? Was he poor before his amnesia? Anyway, I should just ask him this question.
"Did you sleep at all before you walked here?"
"Well, I did wake up in a forest, so I assumed I did sleep. Though if not, and I just woke up after being hit in the head a little too hard then that explains why I feel horrible." As he said that his stomach was right on queue to grumble loudly. I guess that explained why he felt horrible.
I asked some basic questions while we waited for our food, such as. How much Lien do you have currently? And how he didn't get attacked by Grimm during his time in the forest. Said he doesn't even know himself.
Anyway, by the time our food arrived we asked all the questions he could possibly answer. Seeing as he has amnesia. Most of it was riddled with confused questions by him though...
I looked at him again and noticed that his food was already gone. Did he eat it that fast?! Was he seriously that hungry? As I questioned the possibility of him eating that chicken in a matter of seconds, Sapphire asked him about the feat that seemed inhumanely possible until now.
Sapphire Frost. A carefree woman bent on joining Lilac to Beacon academy and become a famous huntress along with Lilac. She has sapphire blue hair along with light blue eyes paired with a face that some might describe as cute. Wearing a lightish blue coat above her simple black shirt, gray pants with blue accents.
She was quite an energetic character. So, for her to look nervous about questioning him how he ate the chicken that fast, told me that even she was confused on how he ate it that fast.
"Uhm... Michael?" Sapphire asked, confused as I was with how fast he had eaten it.
"Yes?" He looked towards us. Completely oblivious at the feat that even she couldn't do. Though he probably doesn't eat as much as her, it's still impressive. Speaking of... I think it's around the time she enters this restaurant.
"I ate it." Now Michael didn't lie. He did eat it. It was just inhumanely fast. To the point where he thinks only people with great power could see. He didn't expect anyone to start questioning him about it since he was called the Terrarian.
But now. Where no one knows him. He just did a feat that seems impossible, and the fact that he should've savored the food more. That was good chicken after all, needs more rice though. He always did like a lot of rice in his food.
"But... How? How did you eat it that fast?" TAG looked... Immensely confused, and he doesn't blame her. Hell, the first time he saw it happen; he was just as confused as her.
"I don't know. I guess I just ate that fast before my amnesia I guess." He played it off as some muscle memory from before his amnesia. And while he wasn't quite sure about it. They seemed to believe it. He thinks so, at least.
As the former hero tried to convince the two guards and captain about it. It seemed the captain was thinking about something. As he thought of it. The door for the restaurant was opened as a series of groans appeared from the customers... And the cooks.
The person entered the restaurant. Whilst many customers were readying to leave. Is the person hated that much?
"Oh no... It's her!" TAG commented about the person entering and she seemed familiar to Michael. But he couldn't quite remember why, she felt familiar to him. He certainly doesn't remember a person like this in Terraria NOR Remnant.
"It's me again. And you know what that means." She spoke in a rather monotone way. For some unknown reason it, reminded him of DOG (Devourer of Gods) and his rather arrogant way of speaking in a way. He still remembers him almost dying because he got nicked by one of his lasers after being crushed by his jaw.
"Yes, we know. 10 of everything coming up." A waiter spoke defeatedly as they walked to the kitchen. So, she eats 10 of everything. Now she really reminds him of DOG, was she perhaps a servant of that scourge? Impossible. As far as he remembers there were only three and they had enough power to destroy kingdoms.
Anyway, he should ask them about who this person is. She seemed interesting. As he was about to ask, he heard a bow string being pulled. As he looked towards the source of the noise, he noticed she was pointing the bow at him. One that he knew. One that was made from Storm Weaver. The name of the bow was... Well, he called it The Storm. More of a title than a name. Anyway, what she was holding could very well end this town in an instant. And she was pointing it at him. Which leads to the question who was this person?
"You. I remember you." She spoke just as emotionlessly as the other time. Though he noticed her leg was slightly shaking, one that only he could notice due to the movement being so miniscule. Curious.
"Me?" Now he wasn't dumb. He was just trying to make sure it was him being pointed at. That's it. After all, what would Storm Weaver be doing here, it was dead. Especially considering that it was a SERPENT and not a human female, like the one was pointing the bow at him.
"Yes you. How could I forget." She was already at the other end of the restaurant pointing the bow at him. The former hero was lost. To say the least. He doesn't know this person after all, heck he doesn't even remember anyone having That bow other than him!
"Well... I have no idea who you are." He said with no hesitation. After all, he actually doesn't know her. Hearing that. The girl slightly eased up. Though she still held him at Bow? Point. As he looked towards the girl. The three guards next to him were looking very intently at him. Was the jig up? Certainly not.
"Wait. Ellie! You know him!" TAG shouted as she pointed at me. So, her name was Ellie, the former hero still has zero idea on who this is. In fact, if she had the bow she held right now. Then that would mean there more Storm Weavers. And as far as he knows, there was only one.
"Yes, I know him. He was the one to beat me." The girl said with another emotionless voice. Reminds him of a thing that he forgot.
"May I ask. Who exactly are you?" He asked in the most confused way he could. Because he could not get more confused than right now.
"I may as well introduce myself, seeing as I held a different form. I am Ellie Stormwell. Or as you would remember my title. Storm Weaver." The girl. Well, the now known "Storm Weaver" replied. And he got even more confused.
"What." The former hero of Terraria hasn't been this confused since that time he found the party girl's bathwater.
A/N: Well... I didn't really like this chapter. I might just redo the ending part at a later date, but if you did. Thank you. Also i have a plan for what made Storm Weaver a human girl. That and you must be wondering who the other person is.
