Chapter Seven:
Breaking into The Vault
Less than an hour later, Makerboy was seated in a military-class chopper with SMG4 Mario, Bob and Hal Monitor. Both of them had suited up in epic heist attire, consisting of spy suits and, military uniforms. And flying alongside them, in full deity mode, was the watermelon waifu Melony, who looked absolutely stunning.
The pilot of the chopper was a good friend of Makerboy named Alexsey Moskovin, leader of Team B. He'd taken some flight lessons with Martin and learned to fly a helicopter a couple months ago, now he was a natural, and he was confident that they wouldn't be detected as they neared the place they were going to.
"Heh-heh." Makerboy chuckled, "Makerboy's gonna do something very illegal..."
"With Hal Monitor." Hal Monitor said with a happy face.
"And Mario." SMG4 Mario added.
"AnD BoB." Bob quipped.
"We're Team Vault Buster!" The group said together.
"Hope you're comfortable back there, this is your pilot speaking." Alexsey announced, "We are approaching the Vilron-Phrisk Vault in T-minus two minutes and five seconds. Are you all ready?"
"Vault Buster #1 is ready." Makerboy quipped.
"So is Vault Buster #2." SMG4 Mario nodded.
"VaUlT BuStEr #3 iS rEaDy To BuSt a VaUlT." Bob pipped up.
"Oh, I'm about to whip somebody's ass!" Hal Monitor sang.
Makerboy raised his arm and tapped a button on the communicator that he had ready. "Melon Wonder." He said into the com, "As soon as the facility comes up, work your magic."
"Melon Wonder to Green Tentacle." Melony replied, "I copy you, I'm almost ready."
"Green Tentacle, this is Green Leader." Alexsey said, "The target is in range."
Everyone looked out the window, gazing over the mountains, and they took in the scene of the large tower up ahead. And Makerboy could see the symbol of Wilson Fisk's company on it, he knew the Kingpin was bad news, and he could already see the look on his face when he saw that the Kaira Star Crystal was gone.
"Melon Wonder, you know what to do." Makerboy told Melony.
"Melon Wonder to Green Tentacle, I'm in position." Melony replied.
The watermelon waifu whipped out a phone, then she tapped into her hacking program, found the Vilron-Phrisk Vault's system, and got to work. She typed various commands into the phone, directing the program into what had to be done. Seconds later, Makerboy heard a beep on his communicator.
"Defenses are down, systems are hacked!" Melony announced.
"I shall activate my secret anti-security system EMP." Hal Monitor buzzed, his screen turned into a windows-loading symbol, then a message popped up that said the task was complete.
Alexsey piloted the helicopter above the roof of the vault, then the windows opened, and Makerboy got ready for action. He morphed into squid mode and dove out of the chopper, flying all the way down to the vault's rooftop. Luckily for him, no turrets activated and opened fire.
"LETSA GOOOOOOOOO!" SMG4 Mario cried as he sky-dived out of the helicopter with Makerboy.
"YeAh BoIiIiIiIiI!" Bob hollered.
"Green Leader." Makerboy told Alexsey through the communicator, "Prepare to pick us up when we aquire the target."
"Copy that, Green Tentacle." Alexsey replied.
Makerboy morphed into his humanoid form and opened his parachute, gliding down to the roof safely. Mario made his landing, despite landing flat on his belly, and Hal Monitor made a safe landfall. Seconds later, Bob landed and wound up hurting himself due to not using a real parachute.
"Ow My OvAl EgGs!" Bob exclaimed.
"Melony." Makerboy said to the watermelon waifu into the communicator, "Get that door open." He gestured to a sealed door on the roof.
"Got it, Green Tentacle."
A light beeped and the door slid open. Makerboy nodded to his team, then they made a mad dash towards their entrance. They slipped inside before the door sealed shut behind them. Makerboy flashed SMG4 Mario, Bob, and Hal Monitor the thumbs up with Hal Monitor giving the squid boy a thumbs up back.
The first few portions of the plan were complete, now they had to sneak down to the main vault, which was several levels down from their current position. According to a diagnostic of the Vilron-Phrisk Vault, there were several guards assigned to every level. Getting past them all was not going to be easy.
Luckily, there was a way to bypass the guards; A turbo-lift, as well as a vent.
Makerboy popped open a grate leading into an airshaft and he squeezed inside, SMG4 Mario followed suit and so did Bob. Hal Monitor had some trouble, but he managed to rectify that by shrinking himself just enough to fit inside. The group crawled through the vent, taking left and right turns, until they reached a large drop.
A leap of faith was important. Makerboy went first and let himself fall through the downward vent, moving past several levels, while SMG4 Mario, Bob, and Hal Monitor followed suit.
Seconds later, Makerboy heard a beep on his wrist device to indicate they were near the vault's location. He grabbed a ledge just in time, then he crawled up and squeezed himself through the airduct, crawling right towards a grate. He looked back, seeing SMG4 Mario, Bob and Hal Monitor were still behind him.
Makerboy reached the grate and pushed hard, pushing it right open. He climbed out of the vent and looked around the hall, seeing deactivated security cameras. An arrow pointed towards an area with a sign reading; Main Vault.
He helped Bob climb out, then Hal Monitor emerged and pulled out a gun. To Makerboy's relief, the robotic cop didn't aim it at him. And then, SMG4 Mario popped out, despite being overweight. They moved down the hall and pressed themselves behind a wall when they saw the vault area.
Standing by the door, with guns at the ready, were two guards, and Makerboy recognized them. The mustached guard was Swagmaster696969696969, who looked as if he was an 007: Goldeneye video game St. Petersburg Guard enemy/Russian Commandant hybrid, and the bearded guard with the scarred eye was Chris Gordman.
Both Makerboy, SMG4 Mario and Bob knew them well, but they couldn't believe they had to deal with those two. After all, they were supposed to be friends, but the freakin' Kingpin had hired them?
"Yo, Chris. Did you hear that thumping in the air shaft?" Swag asked.
"It was just maintenance, Swag." Chris told them, "I doubt we have intruders."
"Hey, you wanna grab a lunch?"
"Jeeze, I can't believe you're that hungry already."
Makerboy winked at Hal Monitor, who whipped out a button with the words 'Lunch Siren' on it, and he pressed the button. A loud hollering sound echoed through the area and Makerboy peeked out from behind his hiding spot to glimpse Swag and Chris' reactions.
"Looks like its time for lunch." Chris remarked.
"Heck yeah, boi!" Swag cried.
The two guards departed their post and got inside an elevator alongside several other guards. The doors closed and the vault was unguarded, allowing Makerboy and his team to make their move. Makerboy moved for the vault doors and pulled out a remote-looking device, which was a vault-breaker, and Bob whipped out another.
They slapped the devices onto the vault door and turned them on. SMG4 Mario pulled out a special magnet and aimed it at the vault door lock, the lock began to turn and the devices beeped, a countdown appeared on the screen of each device and showed how much time was left until the vault was open.
Hal Monitor stood guard, keeping alert for incoming guards. He looked at his watch, likely seeing how long the lunch break would last until Swag and Chris came back.
'C'mon, c'mon.' Makerboy thought, 'Please be it.'
While he was confident, he'd seen enough movies with stealth mission scenes where the protagonists were soon caught. It really sucked that stealth was never useful for long. Thankfully, he'd planned it all out carefully. Otherwise, the whole plan would have gone to shit.
"You're not gonna take the Kaira Star Crystal for yourself, are you?" Makerboy asked Bob.
"HeCk No." Bob replied, "WhY wOuLd I dO tHat, BrO? YoU'Re ThE oNe WhO aSsEmBlEd ThIs TeAm AnD I uNdErStAnD yOuR InTeNtIoN BeHiNd ThIs HeIsT."
"Mario doesn't care about gemstones, LOL!" SMG4 Mario quipped.
'Thank goodness.' The green-haired squid thought.
Seconds later, the devices beeped and the vault lock clicked. The door swung open and the group entered the vault to a stunning sight. Right there, sitting on a dais, was a glowing pentagon-shaped orange-red gemstone; The Kaira Star Crystal.
Makerboy whooped with delight. Hal Monitor nodded to him, Bob's eyes lit up, and SMG4 Mario let out a "yahoo". The green Inkling who led the team stepped forward and studied the gemstone closely, then he held out his hand cautiously and wriggled his fingers Indiana Jones-style.
Hal Monitor played some Raiders of The Lost Ark music, Bob and SMG4 Mario watched Makerboy anxiously. And then, Makerboy grabbed the Kaira Star Crystal.
"AlL rIgHt, mIsSiOn CoMpLeTe." Bob said happily.
Makerboy put the gemstone in his pocket, then he nodded to his team and turned on the communicator. "Vault Breaker #1 to Green Leader..." He said, "Target acquired, we need a pick-up now."
"Stand by." Alexsey's voice came over the com.
"Good work, Makerboy!" Melony cried, "I knew you'd succeed, looks like my hacking skills came in handy again."
The green squid high-fived SMG4 Mario, then he shook Hal Monitor's hand, and carefully low-fived Bob. Seconds later, a light on Makerboy's communicator blinked and glowing energy surrounded them. Before they knew it, they were back in Alexsey's helicopter, and Makerboy still had the Kaira Star Crystal in his possession.
"Green Leader, take us out." Makerboy commanded.
"Copy that." Alexsey nodded.
The Russian Inkling steered the chopper around and flew away from the vault. Makerboy and his team sat back, feeling a buzz of excitement, knowing they'd succeeded and hadn't been caught. Melony flew into the chopper, sat right next to Makerboy, and happily kissed him on the cheek in a commending manner.
Makerboy blushed and beamed, then he took out the Kaira Star Crystal to regard its beauty, knowing that he would soon have the money to buy that charm for Saiko...
