Ivan Dreyar, also known as Dark Raven, is one piece of scum. He treats people as ways to make profit and he doesn't seem to care how low and despicable the job is. As long as he gets money, he'll do whatever he can. Of course, he was caught and thrown behind bars thanks to his own son Laxus. Now he's locked in a cage the bird he can turn into. The cage was also modified so he can't break apart into birds and try to slip through the bars.
"This is depressing. Locked away like a bird. I might be called Dark Raven, but ravens are usually flying free in the sky." Dark Raven complained. "And to think that I was put in here by my own son. Doesn't that boy have any loyalty to his family? I swear that when I get out of here, I'm going to make that boy of mine pay for this." He's hoping for the time when he get out and teach his son a lesson. He actually might get his chance as a mechanical bug made it's way over to his prison cell. When it touched the bars, it gave off a small explosion that alerted others.
"What was that?!"
"Is one of the prisoners trying to escape?!" Dark Raven was a little spooked by the explosion in the cage. He saw that it did create an opening for him to use.
"I guess fortune does favor the bold." Dark Raven said. He broke apart into ravens and made his way through. The ravens flew through the opening and made their way out. They didn't stop there as they all flew around and looked for an exit. This also alerted the guards of what was happening.
"Dark Raven is escaping! Seal off all the exits!" The prison tried to go into lockdown, but it was no good. The ravens were everywhere and the guards couldn't get their hands on them. Eventually, they busted through a window and managed to get out. With that, the flock of ravens flew off into the night and took the freedom of Dark Raven with them.

Laxus
Meanwhile, Laxus returned to his apartment after feeling like he had a long day. Once he went in through the front door, he threw everything down and took a nice relaxing sigh as he sat down.
"Not that I don't mind the airship, but it's just nice to just sit back and relax at your own bachelor pad, your own man cave." Laxus said as he tried to do just that. He was hoping for a relaxing night, but he didn't get the chance when he heard his communicator going off. That meant there was trouble. "What is it?" He said when he answered it. Suddenly, he was alerted about his father and instantly got himself up. "When?! How long ago?! I'll be there!" Once he was told about his father's escape, he hurried to get himself to work. "Where did I put that remote?" Suddenly, he heard something going on in his room. Given what has happened, he needed to be sure on what was in there. "If someone is there, get out now!"
"Is that anyway to talk to your father?" Dark Raven said as he came out from behind the door. He reached for his communicator to alert the others, but Dark Raven shot a raven at him and it knocked the communicator right out of him. "No need to call your friends. I just want to spend some quality with my son."
"You're not exactly a father." Laxus said.
"That hurts." Dark Raven claimed. "No matter what you might think of me, I am your father and you are my son."
"Just tell me what you want before I send you back to jail." Laxus said.
"Just getting a taste of freedom." Dark Raven claimed. "I had some hope that maybe you would like to come with me before I pack a few things and leave Magnolia."
"Get it through your thick skull! I don't consider you a father!" Laxus said. "The only thing I want anything to do with you is to be the one to put you in jail where you belong! That's the only place you're going!" He jumped right at his father to hold him down, but that was when Dark Raven broke apart into his ravens again and were running amok in Laxus' apartment before they all managed to make it out. "Go ahead and run. You're not going to get very far." He said as he did managed to get a feather. Maybe there's a way to track him with it.
...
Later
Thunder Legion alerted the others about what happened at the apartment. When that happened, all of them hurried over as fast as they could.
"Hey. You okay?" Salamander asked.
"I'm fine, but I'm annoyed he even had the nerve to pull a stunt like this." Legion said.
"Where'd he go?" Ray said.
"I'm not sure. He said he was going to get a few things and then he was going to leave Magnolia." Legion said. "Luckily, I have this." He said as he held up the feather he was able to grab. "Maybe we can use it to track his DNA or something."
"I'm sure Jellal has something that can help with that." Shadow said.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Maiden asked. They were all a little worried about how he was emotionally since this was his father they were talking about, but Thunder Legion couldn't really care less about someone like him.
"Let's just find him and get him behind bars." Legion said.
"Works for me. Who cares if its your daddy?" Cobra said, but the others didn't really approve of him talking like that. "What?"
...
The Airship
Thinking they could use the feather as a way to track Dark Raven, all of them hurried back to the airship. It turns out that Jellal really did have something that might be able to help with that. Jellal used the technology on the ship and was beginning to track Dark Raven's signal all over Magnolia.
"Are you sure he's even in Magnolia anymore?" Steel questioned. "What if he already left the place? The dude can turn into a flock of birds. He could probably get pretty far."
"He said there were a few things he had to do before he left." Legion said. "Whatever could that be, I'm not sure. That means he has to still be somewhere in Magnolia." They all kept their eyes on the screen until they saw something was detected.
"Got something." Jellal said.
"Let's go get him." Legion said.
"Wait. What's this?" Jellal said. All of them looked at the screen and saw a could more signals were detected as well. "A couple more signals? How could that be?"
"It's got to be some sort of trick. Only one of them could be the real Dark Raven." Maiden said. "How do we figure out which one could be the real one?"
"You'll have to split-up and search each one of them." Jellal said. "If Dark Raven does manage to get out of Magnolia, it's going to be even harder to find him. Each of you take one of those signals and try to catch him before it was too late. Salamander, Black Steel, and Sky Maiden will be one team. Shadow and Nova Ray will be another. Thunder Legion, you'll be with Cobra." The others didn't mind their teams, but Legion and Cobra looked at each other like they weren't too keen on the idea.
"I don't need him." Legion said.
"Same here. I don't need a partner." Cobra said.
"Remember that you're a team. We have a better chance of catching Dark Raven if you have someone that can be back-up." Jellal said. Legion didn't really like the idea of working with Cobra, but he does want to catch his father. He'll just have to make it work.
...
Legion and Cobra
Thunder Legion and Cobra made their way through Magnolia to try and catch Dark Raven before it was too late. The two of them just kept moving and tried to keep their focus on the goal.
"It looks like the signal we're tracking is heading south." Cobra said. "Any idea what could be down there that your daddy wants?"
"No clue. I cut all ties with him a long time ago." Legion said. "I made peace that he's nothing more than a common criminal, a lowlife that will do anything for money. All I want to know about him is whether or not he's in prison or not."
"That's quite a way to speak about your daddy. What exactly happened that broke you two apart?" Cobra asked.
"What does it matter to you?" Legion questioned.
"What? A mere question." Cobra said. "Keep in mind that I was once a criminal myself. The reason Jellal kept me around was because of my experience and give some insight into their minds."
"It's not really any of your business." Legion said.
"Right. Don't trust me. I'm not blind." Cobra said. "You guys still have a little distrust towards me. If I wanted to kill you guys, don't you think I would have done it by now. Maybe I really have turned over a new leaf. I just want to help out my new friend." That's what he's saying, but Legion had his doubts about it. Legion didn't really want to talk about it, but he does want to put it all behind him. If he wants to, he needs to be able to. He already told Salamander, and he has proven that he isn't his father.
"I lost my mother when I was young." Legion admitted. "On top of that, my father has been a criminal his whole life. He acts like money is so important. When I saw he was arrested, I went to live with my grandfather, my father's father. As you can imagine they don't get along. I've lived in the shadow of my criminal father my whole life, trying not to be like him. Although, I did screw up a few times. I ended up getting my powers because I needed some money. You don't know what it's like having a father as a criminal. I don't want to be like him. I resent my father for he screwed with my life. I've come to accept what he is, but I just can't seem to cut him out of my life because he keeps coming back."
"Sounds rough. At least you had someone." Cobra said. Legion wondered about that as he looked to him, but it seems like Cobra is going to be tougher to crack. "If anyone asks, we did not bond."
"Agreed." Legion said and the two of them kept moving.
...
Salamander's Team
"We're close." Salamander said. Salamander, Black Steel, and Sky Maiden continued to search around for the signal they were getting close to it. The three of them kept moving until Salamander stopped. "The signal says it should be right here. Do you see anything?"
"Yeah! Right here!" Steel said. All of them looked and saw just one raven alone.
"A decoy! He knew we would try to track him!" Sky Maiden said.
"Guys, come in." Salamander said as he used his communicator to alert the others. "It's just a decoy we were following."
"I hear you, Salamander. Nova Ray and Shadow just reported in and said the same thing." Jellal said. "It looks like he also did a good job of splitting you up, but I say Thunder Legion and Cobra have him. I'm not picking up any other signals. Better hurry in case they need back-up." They understood that and got moving.
...
Dark Raven
Dark Raven's decoys bought him some time, but he knew it wasn't going to last. He arrived at a warehouse and opened up a locker. He was stuffing all of what was in there in a bag and was going to make his move to get out of Magnolia.
"They say that a flock of ravens is called the unkindness, and just a small group is call a conspiracy. Those two words fit you perfectly." Dark Raven turned around and was met with his son again. "Using decoys was a nice touch, but you knew that wouldn't last. I guess you can't break into multiple ravens and still remain in your human form."
"You're right. Those birds were meant to be decoys, but I had a feeling you and your friends would catch me eventually." Dark Raven said.
"What's in the locker that you're risking your freedom and get caught?" Legion questioned. "Is it drugs? Hidden cash? Meth?"
"I know you depict me as some sort of creep, but I do have a heart." Dark Raven said as he showed that his locker had photos of Laxus of when he was a kid. "After all, I am a father."
"If you have a heart, it's small and black." Legion said.
"You could have had it worst. I could have been one of those fathers that don't care, but I do care about my own son." Dark Raven claimed.
"Not for the reasons a father should." Legion said. "Grandpa Makarov loved you since you were his son. He constantly wonders what went wrong. Why did his own son turn out like this?"
"Am I suppose to care?" Dark Raven questioned.
"That right there is why every word out of your mouth is just garbage. You care about me, but not the old man?" Legion questioned. "No matter what you do, you can't justify your actions. It all comes down to the point where you are an old, greedy, selfish, bastard that never does anything for anyone. Everything you did is for your own selfish reasons. This is probably the only quality father and son time you and I get." He claimed as he held up his hand and was ready to electrocute him. "Surrender now, and don't try to turn into ravens again or else I'll turn you into fry wings."
"I believe that, but I'm not going back to jail." Dark Raven said as he was ready to fight.
"You are." Cobra said as he landed down behind Dark Raven and smashed a fist of poison right in the back of his head. It knocked down him and he had a hard time moving after that. "That should keep him from going anywhere. You could try breaking into ravens, since I like to see that, but I wouldn't recommend it."
"So much for it just being father and son." Dark Raven said.
"Joke while you can." Legion said as he has no remorse or regret for doing this to his father. No matter how much he acts like one, Dark Raven will never makeup for all that he's done and Thunder Legion won't let it hold him back. "Time to go." The two of them were about to take them away, but they were in for a surprise as someone landed down next to Cobra.
"I'm afraid not."
"Zero?!" Cobra said and then suddenly got kicked away and was smashed against a crate.
"I didn't free him just so he could be taken away." Zero said.
"You freed him? What for?" Legion questioned.
"You don't need to know about that...for now at least." Zero said. "I'll be taking him now."
"No way!" Legion tried to stop Zero as he fired a blast of lightning at him, but Zero avoided it and closed the distance between them. He gave Legion a powerful blow to the face and knocked him down. Legion tried to get back up, but Zero kicked him right in the head and knocked him out.
"Now, time to go." Zero said.
"To where? Who are you?" Dark Raven said.
"A possible new friend." Zero said as he lifted up Dark Raven and carried him away. Just as the two of them left, the others arrived.
"Cobra! Legion!" Salamander called as they saw they were hurt with all of them hurrying to him. "Hey! Snap out of it!" He said as he tried to help Legion wake up. The two of them pulled themselves together and woke up.
"What happened? Don't tell me a birdman actually kicked your butts." Ray teased.
"It was Zero." Cobra said.
"Zero?! He was here?!" Shadow said.
"He's also the one that freed my old man. He just took him away, but I have no idea what Zero wants him for." Legion said.
"Hey... Wasn't there something on the news that said the police escort that had Bluenote Stinger was attacked and he was busted out?" Steel remembered. "You don't think Zero had anything to do with that, did you?"
"If he did, it can't be good. He got both Fall and Dark Raven with him now?" Salamander said. "What could that psycho be planning?" This wasn't looking good. Dark Raven is still free and now might be siding with Zero. Three sociopaths are together. That could be most troublesome for Magnolia. Something bad is coming...
